Wifi no longer connecting after startup

wifi no longer connecting after startup... so I have to connect manually... started after 10.7.3
any ideas

Which computer are you experiencing this on?
There are several threads dealing with (mostly) iMacs + bluetooth keyboards/mice and issues with WiFi no longer automatically connecting. There seems to be some issue that 10.7.3 introduces with these series of macs.
No Apple provided solutions yet, but several workarounds: 1) attach a network cable direclty from modem/router to mac; 2) use the power button instead of mouse/keyboard to wake up mouse; 3) use USB keyboard/mouse (not personally confirmed); use airport extreme/express as a bridge.
Right now it's a waiting game until Apple provides another update. I do recommend going to Apple feeback: (http://www.apple.com/feedback/) and at least voicing your opinion. Calling AppleSupport will do the same, but they'll make you go through the same (likely useless) steps everyone else has done.
Good luck!

• Airport no longer connects on startup

It used to be that when I started up my computer I had it set to automatically connect to a specific network. In my Network settings that network is correctly entered into the proper field. Now it no longer connects automatically and I have to either retype it and click the "Apply Now" button or type it into the Internet Connect application and have it connect to the network from there.
I sure miss this feature! Does anyone know what the problem is here?
Griff

OK, but as I pointed out, I already have the Network that I wish to connect to automatically typed in where it is supposed to be. And this has worked fine up until recently. Now to connect to the network, I have to go into: System Preferences > Network > Show > Airport where I empty the name of the Network and click on Apply Now. Then I retype the network name and click on Apply Now again and it will connect as it should have automatically after I logged into my computer.
Or, I can do the same thing in the Internet Connect application by selecting "Other" and typing in the name of the network and clicking 'OK.'
However, I have just discovered that I can accomplish the same thing by turning Airport off, then turning it back on. When I do this, Airport connects to my designated Network.
But the question remains, why does it fail to connect automatically when I startup my computer, and then log into my account?

• WiFi no longer working after software update

I have had my iPhone 3g for about 3 weeks. Everything worked fine at first. I was able to connect to my home wifi. After updating the iPhone software - I noticed I could no longer connect. The network shows up and I enter my password but I cannot join. I also noted this at 2 open wifi areas - whole foods and a friends house.
I have rebooted the modem, rebooted the phone, reset my network settings, and restored the entire iPhone. Nothing has worked. I spoke to Apple support and it sounds like they will send me a new phone...but I feel like this can probably be resolved with the phone i have, TIA!

Hi erik,
Does the iPhone have a Wi-Fi address? If not the issue and possible resolutions may be in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Does the iPhone get an IP address after joining the Wi-Fi network?
Does the iPhone join and get a valid IP if wireless security is disabled?

• Wifi doens't connect after upgrade to 10.7.5

I upgraded my imac to 10.7.5, and some how my wifi did not connect to the internet from yesterday. I tried network diagnostics for couple times, and there is one time the internet was on when the small window popup with the msn "some thing abt the network is ok" and then it disconnect again after a few sec. i tried to diagnos again but it still doesnt work. Then i reseted the router, and nothing changed. Is there anyone can help me out.

Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved. With a desktop Mac, you may need to use a USB keyboard or mouse. You should always have one of each available as a spare.
Step 1
Follow the instructions on the applicable pages linked below:
How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
How to set up your Apple Wireless Mouse or Magic Trackpad
Step 2
Reset the System Management Controller.
Step 3
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Reboot.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

• Installed iOS6 and wifi no longer connects

I have an iphone 4S and I installed iOS6 and i have now fond I can no longer connect to wifi networks. My first attempt to fix was to use reset network settings but this has not helped at all.
Is ther a bug or a does someone know of a fix?

Turn off your iPhone completely (hold sleep button until the power off slider shows up and turn off the phone)
Hold the sleep and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so and then release the sleep button while still holding in the home button. This will put your iPhone into recovery mode.
If you haven't already, download the older version of the firmware. Go to this website and download the firmware that is right for your iPhone. When you go to this site, make sure that you download the correct firmware for your 2g iPhone or 3g iPhone. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
Now connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. iTunes will detect that your iphone is in recovery mode and tell you that you need to restore it. If you are using a Mac you need to hold down the option button and click restore, if you are using a Windows PC hold down the shift button and click restore. This will allow you to choose the firmware file you want to restore to. So when it asks to choose the firmware, browse to the firmware you downloaded from above and it should restore to that version of the firmware.
Let us know how this works for you. If this method doesn't work either, then I would say it is definitely a hardware problem, even though it already sounds like a hardware problem.

• Remote desktop no longer connects after installing Photoshop CS3

Hi,
Last week I downloaded and installed the Photoshop CS 3 extended trial on a PC that I regularly connect to via remote desktop. After Photoshop had finished installing, I could no longer connect to that machine (Its running Windows XP SP3) through remote desktop.
Searching on this issue has quickly brought up the fact that CS3 installs Apple's Bonjour service and that has been known to cause connectivity problems for other users. I removed Bonjour by following the guide here (http://www.x64bit.net/site/board/index.php?s=888c3f3673c453dcc972decd6e67e8e0&showtopic= 4214&st=0&p=40719&#entry40719) and reset the Winsock catalog (netsh winsock reset).
Unfortunately I still am unable to connect to that machine with remote desktop. These two machines are connected through a gigabit switch (nothing tricky at all) and it had been working flawlessly until I installed Photoshop CS3. Now when i enter the computer name in the remote desktop connection box and click "Connect", it shows activity (the colored bar moves) and then the connect button returns to its default state and nothing happens. No error messages or anything.
I have searched Apple's forums and found users on various message boards report this same issue, but none seem to have a resolution (aside from re-installing the OS, which doesn't resolve anything if you end up re-installing CS3). Is anyone familiar with this issue and found a solution? If so, I would love to hear it!
Thanks!

I have the same exact issue right now. We purchased CS3 Master Collection and some - not all - of the machines are now refusing a RDP session. I looked in to the Bonjour service problem but it doesnt seem to be the issue. Other machines with the same service work fine.
Anyone have an idea?
Has Adobe addressed this at all. I am aware that more than just the two of us have experienced this issue.

• Crash report runs a long time after startup

Crash report runs for about 1-1/2 hour after startup.

did you check how much time the entire report takes to execute (evn though the first 25 rows comes up quickly). I suspect it is > 30 mins.
OBIEE is not meant as a data dump tool and there is little that could be done. (except better hardware)

• Lightstreamer no longer connects after upgrading to FF9 ?

My application uses Lightstreamer JavaScript to connect to a Lightstreamer server. Everything has been working fine. Upon upgrading my FF to version 9, the Lightstreamer connection no longer connects. All previous version of FF work fine.
What did you break?

1) You get more flies with honey than vinegar
2) What technology of Lightstreamer are you using? Web Sockets? HTML5?
3) How can someone test this?

• VPN no longer connects after ios7 update

I just downloaded ios7 and my VPN will no longer connect. Any suggestions?

I had this issue last night as well. I'm connected through ethernet and was not able to connect to any services. In fact, my home screen just showed the Computers icon and Settings icon. I also restarted the Apple TV a number of times as well as my router it is plugged into. What I found is that for some reason it was taking a little while longer to connect to the Internet. If I waited a bit it eventually connected. I checked this morning and when I turned on the Apple TV it seemed to be back to normal and connected right away.
I know that's not a real specific answer, but maybe you can go to the network setting and give it a minute to see if it eventually assigns an IP, DNS, etc.

• Snow leopard clients can no longer connect after 10.7.3 update.

Hey,
We updated to 10.7.3 on the server side and our snow leopard clients can no longer connect. Our lion clients have no trouble connecting.
They recieve an box saying an error occured, with no other information.
Any ideas?

• AppleTV3 Ethernet no longer connects after automatic update

Just turned on the TV to find that the Apple TV is no longer connected to the Internet or LAN.
It does seem to have updated automatically and all the icons are the new iOS8 style.
If I go the Network I see no IP, no DNS.
Rebooted the device, rebooted the Mac Mini Server, unplugged the ATV3 from power and ethernet.
Nothing will fix it. Looks like the latest update kills Ethernet connectivity.
I have a local Gigabit Switch and it shows that the Ethernet port is active when I plug in the CAT6 patch cable to the ATV3, but the ATV no longer finds the LAN.
Anybody else having this issue since the automatic software update?

• Wifi not re-connecting on startup, after exiting sleep mode, etc.

For a while we had this issue with our wireless network, but as you can see the issue was resolved using the fix mentioned.
Now, we have a new problem. Approximately once per day (or more), my iPhone, after waking it up, will not re-connect to the wireless. It'll ask me to connect to a network, my network will show up, but when I click on it, it either says "Unable to Connect to Network" or asks for the password, I put it in, and then it says "Unable to Connect". We experience this on all of our family's devices...iPod Touch, iPhones, laptops, PS3...everything. The only solution we have found is to unplug the router, after which everything works fine. It's sporadic, unpredictable, and really annoying.
I've tried to keep track of when it occurs, but it's nearly impossible. The only difference I notice is that when a lot of the family are gone (like on vacation), it doesn't happen. So I don't know if it's the fact that there's so much traffic on the router that it can't handle any more device connections, or if it's one specific device that is making it knock off the other device.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well it depends which router you are using.. and how many devices that you are trying to connect with the router..

• WPA2-enterprise WIFI can't connect after upgrading to 6.1 or higher

Hi. Please help.
We have a campus wifi with two ssids: one open for everyone and one closed with wpa2-enterprise (PEAP) security for staff. All iphones and ipads works just fine on ios version 6.01 but they can't connect to secured wifi network after updating to ios ver 6.1 and higher (tried 6.1.2). WM3600 controller use Windows2008 r2 NPS server + active directory for authorization (selfsigned certificates is 2048 bit length).

Hope to get any help.

Yes. We tried to reboot iphone(s), tried also with ipads 6.1. We tried to reset network settings.
We tried to add wifi profile to clean new iphone using iphone configuration utility.
Wireless supplier can't help - they told it is an ios issue and I think this is true because all
ipads/iphones works just fine on ios5 or 6.0.1 but can't connect on 6.1

• Dial-Up Service, iMac is connecting after StartUp

Hello,
All of a sudden, my iMac 9.2.2 has started to dial a connection (by it's self)right after Start-Up. Normally, after Start-Up, I click on a Browser (IE,Netscape,iCab)or Outlook Express and the iMac starts dial for a connection.
I have tried dumping the following Prefferances:
Start-Up Prefferances
Remote Access Preferrances
And then Restarting, but this problem continues.
Any ideas or suggestions appreciated

Hi, Steve -
There are several possibilites of things that can auto dial a connection to the net.
In Apple software -
• the Software Update control panel has an automatic check for updates setting
• the Date & Time control panel - Use a Network Time Server function
• the QuickTime Settings control panel - Update Check page, at the bottom
In addition, some non-Apple software have automatic check for updates functions. This can include Symantec's Live Update; some graphics apps, MacTracker; etc.
Also, check in the Startup Items folder (in System Folder) for an item, such as an alias to a registration utility, which may be the cause.
And, a remote possibility - check in the Servers folder in System Folder for an alias to a web-based server.

• Wifi couldn't connect after IOS 7.0.4

I have tried all the help i could find on the internet to try and fix the wifi problem with my ipad soon after the IOS update.
No matter what solutions i've got from the internet, it still wouldn't connect.
My ipad was given to me as a birthday present July 2012. It even have a personal message at the back of ipad.
My ipad is of no use without being able to connect to the wifi.
I would like to know if there is anything that could be done without having to send it to the apple store for service and if i have to send it for service, will i be charge for it and if so, what would it cost me? Coz i'd rather buy a new tablet if the price for servicing is pretty high.

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.
