Wireless Synchronization - WTF?

On opening BlackBerry Desktop for Mac to try and sync my contacts, calendar etc for the contacts section it states, "contacts are currently configured for wireless synchronization." It then goes on to explain how to turn this off with details that bear no relation to my phone.
I never asked for this in the first place and can't fathom how to turn it off.
I also get duplication of every contact and calendar item when I can manage to synch. What's this all about?
Regards
Martyn

  • Wireless Synchronization in Desktop contact list properties is by default showing "Not Available", Not able to change also

In my Blackberry 8520 - Curve model, Wireless Synchronization in Desktop contact list properties (Go to Contacts, select options, select Desktop) is by default showing "Not Available" and not allowing to change also. My other colleagues are having the options.
My basic issue is that Outlook contact details are not getting syncronized with Blackberry. I believe this is the root cause for the same. Please guide to resolve the issue.
    with best regards,

    Hey pratiktnm,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are you setup on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server?  With the Desktop service book appearing it seems you were on one.  If you are still on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, I would suggest creating a full backup with BlackBerry Desktop Software: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33505
Then proceed with a security wipe by going to Options>Security>Security Wipe and then contact your network service provider to generate a new Enterprise Activation password.  Then proceed with the enterprise activation by going to Options>Advanced Options>Enterprise Activation.
Once the activation is completed, test out the wireless synchronization of the contacts.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Wireless Synchronization of Calendar, tasks and memos

I'm a first-time user of a new Blackberry Curve 8310.  I've installed the software and completed a wired-synchronization to my computer.  Now, I want to set the device so that it synchronizes wirelessly.
I've followed the instructions that say Calendar>Menu>Options> but there is not a "Wireless Synchronization" field to select.
Can this be done on this device?  If yes....what am I missing?
    Thanks

In the DeskTop software program I use (4.5) in the upper right hand corner of the main screen is options, it contains connection options. Other than USB it does offer Bluetooth. I don't have any other options. If you look in the Blackberry Device manager it lists Com ports, USB and Bluetooth. Again, that's the only options I see.
What type of Calendar/contacts program are you using? Google offers a sync option.
    Please let me know!

  • Turn off wireless synchronization - Curve 9360 - Option to turn it off not present

I am attempting to synchronize my BB contacts to Desktop Manager v6 and it is advising that I need to turn off wireless sync.  I have reviewed the forum and user manual however, I simply cannot see the option to turn off wireless synchronization.  It is not present under the options.  Please help!  Thank you in advance!

Hello jamison2010 and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you are having issues synchronizing your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone and the BlackBerry® Desktop Software.
You need to check the individual database that is being wirelessly synchronized. For example, if you are trying to do the USB wired sync with your computer and you get the message it is being synchronized wirelessly, you need to go to your BlackBerry Contacts then Menu>Options and select your contact list (most likely your email account).
If it is the Calendar then you go to the Calendar>Menu>Options and select the calendar list (which again, will most likely be your email account).
    Hope this answers your question.

  • I cannot turn off the wireless synchronization on my Blackberry 8300 device. Please help!

I have tried and tried everything I can think of.  I have read many posts on this topic already and nothing is helping.  Does anyone know how to do this?   I have gone to the address book, then option, but there is nothing that says wireless synchronization.  Even my device, when I searched on it, tells me to do this, but it's not there.   I am wanting to be able to see my address book on my desktop but I cannot do this without turning this off.  Thank you for your help.

ok, IF you have all your data up-to-date in Outlook, I will recommend deleting your BB Address Database and re-syncing with Outlook. But you must first have Outlook completely up to date. See below:
(ignore the mention of the calendar below... this just works the same way)
If you are having errors in your Calendar or Address Book on your BlackBerry, and you wish to delete the entire Calendar (or Address Book) database on your BlackBerry, follow the directions below. Make certain you have a good copy of your Calendar or Contacts elsewhere, as this procedure will complete delete ALL Calendar entries and/or Address Book entries on your BlackBerry.
    1. Open Desktop Manager on your PC.
    2. Open up Backup/Restore > Advanced.
    3. From Advanced you'll see a split pane screen. The left pain is what is going to be backed up from your device and the right is a list of the currently existing databases.
    3. Highlight on the right side your Address Book database (or your Calendar database) and click the arrow in the middle pointing to the left. This will copy the information over and prepare it for back-up.
    4. Once the back-up has completed, hit the Clear button at the bottom to erase and clean out the entire address book database (or Calendar database).
    5. After it's finished, it will ask you if you want to save the back-up you've created, say yes and check the device to make sure the address book (or calendar) has been properly cleared out. Now, resync the necessary contact information and you should be set to go.

  • Wireless Synchronization (802.11b)

    Hi,
We have Oracle Mobile Server v5.0.2.10 and we develop applications for the PocketPC2002 platform using embedded Visual Basic.
We are currently synchronizing data using mSync via a Serial Port connection to a desktop computer.
Does Oracle Lite support synchronization using Wireless LAN connection. Is the transport connection mechanism independent of the synchronization process?
Are there issues with mSync over wireless LAN connections ?

    Nahla,
You are correct in that the transport connection mechanism is independent of Oracle Lite's synchronization process. There are no known issues for mSync over wireless LAN connections.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.

  • Anyone NOT seeing a "turn off wireless synchronization" option when accessing through Address Menu Options?

Wireless synching is preventing calendar from synching through laptop [wouldn't mind except that the wireless synching isn't so the calendar is empty]. All instructions assume that there's an optiont to turn this off under the app Menu and Options...I don't...and see that others have had the same problem just not sure of the fix. Have a Curve 9300 and BB 6.0.0. Bundle 2391. Annoyed...shouldn't be this difficult!

    Hey djbmcmur,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you have a Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail account currently setup on the BlackBerry?  You can look under Options>Advanced Options>Service Book for anything that says - EMAIL (SYNC).  If you have any of these, it means you have wireless sync available.  You can delete these service books.

  • Offline Access and Wireless synchronization

We are looking at several different platforms for a mobile application to compliment our existing Oracle application (currently migrating to 10g backend and 10g Forms frontend).
Our two basic requirements are that we can
    1) have offline (local on the device) access to our data
    2) be able to sync via a wireless connection (wifi, gprs, etc)
Outside of those two requirements, we just want a visually rich application. We are initially (and potentially only) targeting Windows Mobile (PocketPC) devices. I am unfamiliar with the mobile development kit (MDK) and what all it accomplishes, so any insight (or links) would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how best to accomplish this task? We are still in the preliminary stages of research, so any and all feedback is welcomed.

We just implemented a system using oracle lite as offline database. Our client sycn using wifi, DSL, Cable Modem etc etc... no issues there.
Oracle Lite will meet both of your requirements. However it does not provide you a rich GUI developing facility. So You have to build ALL your screens using some other tool.
MDK primarily consists of 2 tools:
    1) MDW : Mobile Database Workbench (Used for creating.testing Data sync functionalities)
    2) Packaging Wizard: Used for Packaging an application along with the database and deploy it in the Mobile Server to be published.
    Good luck on your research.

  • Wireless N WTF

First off I'd just like to say thank you to Lenovo. Thank you for giving it to me right in the shorts.
Why am I unable to upgrade my wireless card with a chipset specific upgrade from Intel? I'll tell you why, because it's not Lenovo branded, and they have added a nice feature in the BIOS of locking people out of the possibility of using a card such as this. Every other upgrade I went through including CPU, and RAM went on without a hitch. Now why blacklist a wireless card?! But to make things better, I can't find a replacement card that will work in a Lenovo laptop anywhere except for eBay. Great.
So I guess I'm wanting to know if anyone knows a way around this, or if I'm stuck having to pay $75 for a second card when the first only cost me 35.

Nope, nothing to do with monopoly, otherwise Apple would have been sued to hell and back for their restrictive policies.

  • Wireless Synchronization with Yahoo or Google?

    Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if it is possible to sync wirelessly with Yahoo Calendar/Contacts or Google Calendar/Contacts?  It would really be nice if when I add an appointment on my BB that it would sync up to my Yahoo Calendar without having to hook the BB up to my laptop.  My email is reconciled with Yahoo so I thought there might be a way for the Calendars to reconcile too.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Cannot synchronize my BlackBerry Z10 with Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 Computer

Z 10 Sync to Outlook I cannot sync, despite my best efforts, my BlackBerry z10 with my calendar on my Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 computer. I am not such a blithering **bleep** that I cannot figure out to, and I have already done, the following: 1, make sure I have an updated BlackBerry Link software; 2, Hook up my phone to the computer and select the device; 3, select "Microsoft Outlook" as account type. 4. Select "calendar" The process seems to start out fine, and then I get a "Sync was unsuccessful" message. I am thinking of getting a web- based work around, by synchronizing Outlook with Google Jacaranda maybe, and then synchronizing it that way, but that uses data. I should be able to use default settings and simply use BlackBerry Link software and the cord that comes with my phone.

Maybe you can try this way:

  • To sync WIRED, need to turn off WIRELESS feature on BB. HOW?

The Desktop Mgr says to turn off the WIRELESS feature on my Curve 8310 in order to sync with my home laptop.  On the BB, where is this nonwireless/wireless feature?  I'm trying to sync thru the USB port with a cable.  Previously this Curve was synched wirelessly to an employer's computer at a job I no longer have.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well you can do one of 2 things:
Go into the database (Calendar, Address Book, etc), hit the menu button, choose Options. From there you can turn the Wireless Synchronization Off. You can leave the settings to Off for each database that you want to synchronize with.
You can follow these steps to remove the IT policy from your phone. This will remove any polices that may still be in effect on your device when it was connected to your company's BES. Doing so will take those wireless synchronization lines off of your phone. http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Remove_IT_Policy

  • Can't synch calendar wirelessly

I can't get calendar to synch wirelessly (will only synch manually). I found other posts with people experiencing the same problem, which led me to the following suggestion:
Uninstall the current version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.3 or earlier (I'm running 5.0.1 and my IT guys did a wireless activation, which I surmise means we're running BES 4.0 or later).
However, I ran into a dead end when trying to download DM 4.3, as I found another string of posts that end with DM prior to 4.7 are no longer supported by RIM. Can somebody help, either with downloading DM 4.3, or synching calendar wirelessly with DM 4.7 or later?
All this without asking the obvious question of why in the world would RIM stop supporting wireless calendar synchronization, which (other than email) is one of the main reasons for having a bby in the first place!

Hello miginsf and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Does your Address Book, Memos and Tasks sync wirelessly?
If you are using BlackBerry Enterprise Service then you should have a Desktop [CICAL] Service book (found under Options -> Advanced Options -> Service Book)
Also, to check your Calendar has been enabled for wireless, in your BlackBerry Calendar hit the Menu key and go to Options. Under Calendars you should see Desktop. If you select this Calendar, you should Yes for Wireless Synchronization.
To synchronize your Calendar wirelessly, do don't need the Desktop Manager. However, if you are not using the BlackBerry Enterprise Service, then you would need the Desktop Manager. What is the mail client you use for your Calendar (Outlook? Groupwise? Lotus?)
Let me know what settings you have.
    Thanks!

  • Calendar synchronization does not work anymore

    Hello all,
I am trying to fix a problem with my calendar synchronization.
I had been synchronizing with Lotus Notes for several months and recently ran into some problems that seemed to originate from a specific note in Lotus. I attempted to fix the problem by identifying the last note encountered and removing it. This only moved the error to the previous note in the log.
I then tried to see if resetting the synchronization options in Desktop Manager would help kick start the process again. This did not change the outcome.
The next step was to reset the Blackberry calendar database and options from the desktop manager and try and start from scratch again. This time there was no error but there was no synchronization either. Further digging showed that there was no rim.log file and no Notes log file created. I know the Desktop was communicating with the Blackberry because the desktop logo was showing on the device.
I then tried restoring my calendar so I could get back to the original problem. After the restore I was still getting the new scenario of no synchronization not the original problem.
I set up synchronization for memos from the device to the desktop using the ASCII export just to see if any synchronization would work. Memos came down fine and I now had a rim.log file produced but still no calendar synchronization.
All of the above was done using Desktop Manager 4.3.(?).  I have since updated the desktop manager to 4.7 and I am getting the same results. The last thing that I have tried was resting the calendar again and resending my service books, still no synchronization. This is a wired synchronization and all of the calendar options say wireless synchronization = no (I don't have a wireless option that I am aware of on this phone).
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
    Phone - BlackBerry® 8130 smartphone (CDMA) v4.5.0.77 (Platform 3.2.0.51)
    Carrier - Verizon
    Desktop Manager version 4.7.0.32

You may try rebooting the device to check if it works. If this did not help, you will have to re-setup outlook account on your device to get it worked.
Hope, this can resolve your issue.
