Wireless users keep dorpping out

Please help.
I have a WLC 5008 control 11 APs(H-reap) in defferent locations. At one office, users there constantly disconnected from wireless network, then re-connected automatically few seconds later.  not just Apple products, PCs and laptops as well.  Settings of that office are same as other locations, but seams wireless connection is very unstable there.  it is an open space office, so signal receiving is actually very good everywhere in that office, but users keep dorppring out of wireless.  where should I start looking?
One thing, there are 2 APs in that office, one is from AU, and one is from JP, so they are on different controll code.  could that cause any problem?  that office is in JP.
Thanks a lot.

This is too old version. You have to go for at least 7.4.121.0 which is a stable release.
Since you are running 6.x you cannot directly go to this version. You  have to go for 7.0.x code first & then upgrde to 7.4.121.0. Here is the release notes for this code
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn74mr02.html
Also make sure your WLC FUS upgraded to 1.7.0.0 as well. Refer below & this will take 30-40min outage to your wireless, keep that in mnd when doing.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/fus_rn_1_7_0_0.html
Refer this compatibility matrix to check all your AP/WLC/MSE/Prime compatibility depend on the prouducts you got in your environment

  • Wireless adapter keeps cutting out

    Hello all,
I have a Pavillion DV1130us notebook. The wireless adapter kkeeps cutting out on me and I need to constantly reconnect. Anyone else have this problem??? Thank you.

Ok got the firmware updated. For the security under wep it says default key and gives me an option of 1-4 to choose. Then wep encryption and gives me two choices 64 bits 10 hex digits and then 128 bits and 26 hex digits. Then the passphrase and gives me a spot to put something in but also has a generate button. Can I put my own in or not? Then it has at the bottom slots for all 4 keys to put something in each of them. What does this mean? Maybe I am totally lost and not as hard as it seems.

  • Home wireless network keeps "timing out." Help!

I currently have an eMac with a wired connection to an AirPort Extreme base station that creates a wireless network in my home with Time Warner Road Runner. I also have an Airport Express that acts as a relay station.
For some reason lately, the wireless internet connection is S-L-O-W and often I can't load a page and get the message "network connection timed out, server may be busy." The wireless signal is excellent and I've restarted both the Base Station as well as the Express but no luck. I use a G4 PowerBook and my wife uses an iBook and the problem occurs on both
    The wired connection works great.
Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? Thanks for any help.
    Sunil
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I'm running into a simiar situation with Time Warner Road Runner. I have 3 PCs with a wired connection to a linksys router that creates a wireless network for my MacBook.
For the first 4 days the wireless network worked great. I could access the internet from anywhere in the house on my MacBook. On the 5th day I couldn't connect to the internet on my MacBook. I've power cycled the cable modem and the router, updated the router firmware and even called Apple Care. No one has an answer. Like you, my wired connections work just fine. And the wireless signal is great. The MacBook can see the wireless network and get on it but cannot connect to the internet through it.
I believe it may be a DHCP lease renewal issue for the IP address. The MacBook doesn't show an IP address in its Network Configurations for the router. My network locations keep resetting their port priorities to bluetooth instead of airport and everytime I do a diagnostic I get a message that says "another program has changed your network configurations, click ok to continue". But I don't have any answers.
    Maybe someone out there does?

  • New wireless speakers keep cutting out through bluetooth on mac whenever i receive an e-mail?

Hi i have recently purchased some new Ruark MR1 wireless speakers from John lewis for my home,I have tried them in all rooms but whenever i switch from youtube to my itunes playlist or even just receive an email they cut out? This is now a replacement set of speakers as john lewis thought they may be faulty but the same problem occurs. I have updated my bluetooth changed settings every way possible as advised by people but still no joy, very annoying as these were very expensive and to have to keep reconnecting them constantly defeats the object of having these wireless speakers.
I would appreciate any help or advice!

I think that the manufacturer is your best source. Perhaps there is some incompatibility.....

  • Ojpro 8000 wireless light keeps timing out

Hello, I have a new ojpro 8000 wireless printer (to replace my previous printer of the same model which died after warranty).
Working on an iMac using Airport Express as router. Printer is connected only wirelessly. Printer's IP address is 10.0.1.4. No MAC filtering or hidden SSID.
I can reach the 10.0.1.4 web page with no problem. The page does not indicate any problem. Printer works fine. But the wireless connection, or at least the blue light,  seems to go to sleep when there has been no activity. I can turn it on by pressing the wireless button. I can still access 10.0.1.4 even when the light is out!
This did not happen with my old printer, and the wireless configuration has not been changed.
**New observation... While typing this note the light was out. Then, on an impulse, I tried to print a document. It started printing and the blue light had come on by itself.**
So, given this last observation, I'm not sure if I even have a problem here, but the light used to not go off by itself in the past, so I am a little concerned.
    Any advice?
    Thanks, Bob
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

As long as it prints and scans as you want it to, I say just ignore the blue light.  If you can't stand it, put a piece of black electrical tape over it.

  • Wireless Internet keeps cutting out for a few minutes

    Hi,
I have a WRT160N router using DSL and PPPoE, and my internet continually cuts out at most every 15 minutes or at the least once an hour. I thought it had something to do with security so I changed from WPA to WEP but that didn't do the trick. It is almost as if it has to restart itself but that shouldnt happen. What can I do to fix this issue.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hello
To get a better handle on the problem, connect at least one computer to the router using an Ethernet cable. This can help isolate the problem further.
You can pretty much connect as many devices to the wireless side as you wish. The only problem you might encounter if you connect a large number of machines on the wireless side is lack of bandwidth. I can't imagine 5-6 machines on a wireless network would be a problem, unless one or two of them attempts a large file transfer. Even then, I would expect the wireless to be slow - not down.
What version of firmware is in your WRT160N? How long have you had your router, and has it worked properly in the past?

  • Wireless internet keeps cutting out. Please help asap

Ok I have a wrt54g. We have a dell laptop wireless, and a dell desktop wired along with a PS3 wireless. The desktop doesn't lose the internet. But ever so often on the laptop and sometimes (but not nearly as often as the ps3) we will just lose the internet. It will just cut out and the bars will go away and then it will come back on. Also it will display in the screen limited or no connectivity. I also want to set it up securely so no one can steal it. I know this is a lot but any help would make my life a lot easier at the moment. Thank you so much cause computers are not really my thing.

• Hi there can anyone help. I am connected to the internet by ethernet but my connection keeps timing out and my network diagnostics shows all green and network connection ok but still no internet connection. the other wireless laptop in my flat works well.

Hi there can anyone help. I am connected to the Internet by Ethernet but my connection keeps timing out and my network diagnostics shows all green and network connection ok but still no Internet connection. the other wireless laptop in my flat works well. Could the other wireless laptops being used in my flat be affecting my connection. what can I do to get connected, keep connected. Thanks for any ideas out there.

My network connected for a few hours then went back to timing out. I have not changed anything. However there four additional laptop users in my family who do not seem to be having any problems using their wireless connection. Could their film and music downloads be causing the timing out of my connection and if so is there a way I could prioritizes my computer or limit their use?

  • Wireless keeps dropping out

The wireless was working fine, i had it working with network-manager i then was doing some work that i wanted to do via ethernet so switched the wireless off using the switch and now it keeps dropping out, i have had to remove network-manager as it wouldnt let me connect to wired for some reason, and have tried to get wireless re-working with wifi-menu, i have delected the config and created one using the examples and using netcfg and still having no luck. I looks as if the device is going into "power saving" and wont come out, outputs below:

  • How can I find out WHY a user keeps becoming disabled in WGM?

I know users are disabled after a certain number of incorrect login attempts, in my case it is se to 7.
But one user keeps becoming disabled for no obvious reason. The user in question just logs into FTP.
Once it has been disabled, I try re-enabling it but if I quit WGM and re-open they will be disabled again straight away. I have to delete the user and re-create them with the same UID for it to stay active.
Its highly unlikely that the user is entering the password incorrectly this many times!

It can maybe be an old alias or something like shared fonts from a server share trying to login.
Maybe not even on the same machine.
    Check logs.

  • Why does my iMac wireless keep dropping out?

My iMac wi-fi keeps dropping out intermittently.  Sometimes, I can trace it to the router, but sometimes, everything else stays connected to the router, and only my iMac drops out.  I can check 'speed test' app in my iPhone4s through the router and it is still working and connected, but the iMac has dropped off.  It usually will connect back up, but sometimes takes 2 tries to get the job done.  It is starting to get annoying in frequency.
The iMac is about 1 year old now.  This has been happening recently.  I suspect trouble in my airport extreme card, but don't know how to check it out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Jim

never mind.  I went to apple care support and after deleting some plists, resetting the computer a few times and a few other tricks, it is working well again.
But to answer your questions: airport monitor of computer.  I have a Cisco router.  The iPhone was using internet and the speed test app showed normal connections and speed.
    Thanks for your interest,
    Jim

  • Wireless keeps cutting out on multiple networks

I have a mac book that is about 2 years old ruing leopard and has always worked fine. recently though, the wireless has been cutting out all the time, even when I am about 2 feet from the router and my friends imac still has full bars. It also has this problem on other wireless networks that until now always worked perfectly. I did a clean install of osx and installed all of the upgrades. T did just get a new battery installed, but I cant see how that would make a difference. Help!
    Thanks in Advance,
    Matt

Well, if the problem occurred instantly after your reformatted and installed all the updates, this might be the key. I'm sorry to say it, but I would try back tracking through the updates first. If you get no results from that, then I would reinstall the OS.

  • After updating to IOS7 I have lost a years worth of pictures and my wi-fi keeps dropping out.  Anyone have any suggestions?

After updating to IOS7 I have lost a years worth of pictures and my wi-fi keeps dropping out.  Anyone have any similar problems or suggestions?

    Re wifi:
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Airport Express 802.11n keeps dropping out..

    I have the following setup
    Room 1
    1. router/ DSL modem 802.11b/g
    2. Airport express b/g "joined" to network created by router, connected to stereo.
    Room 2
    1. airport express n "joined" to network created by rounter in room 1, also connected to stereo
    2. Vista laptop b/g connecting to network created by router in room 1
    I have the following problems..
    1. When using airtunes in room 2 the music keeps cutting out, even though I am sat with my laptop next to the airport express.
    2. Airport utility keeps loosing sight of the airport express in room 2 and I cannot see its configuration..
What can I do to improve the performance of the network in room 2, this is using a newer airport express however the older one in room 1 performs much better.
Are the issues down to the fact that the AE in room 2 is in a different room to the router.. I cannot configure the network any other way such as WDS or extend network (only available on an N network)..
so what are the options.. the airport express in room 2 is not really usable at the moment.. BTW room 1 and 2 are not exactly far from each other..
    Will

I just read that if you run iTunes in Adminstrator mode for Vista, that the drop-outs disappear. Try right-click on iTunes icon and Run As administrator. Your user might have adminstrator user rights, but you should do this anyway. If this works, then you can change this in Properties -> Shortcut -> Run as Administrator. You will have to type in the administrator password, or click through on UDC, each time that you run iTunes.
Also, make sure that the radio button on your AX is set for b/g compatible ... if you have set it to "Join an Existing Network", you might try setting it, for a moment, to "Create a Wireless Network". Check the b/g compatible option and then revert back to "Join an Existing Network." Re-enter your SSID, wireless name, and then save.

  • User account locked out in IAS Server.

    Hi,
Windows Server 2003 stand-alone with IAS Server working as a RADIUS Server for WIFI connections.
There is a domain user account that keeps locking out randomly a few times a day.
This user account doesn't show up within the IAS server log file.
The Audit Policy is enabled in the w2k3 server for Succes, Failure and the events below comes up for every locking,
The Caller User Name is the IAS Server machine account.
I had to enable in the DCs the Netlogon debug mode to get the lock outs source, that turns out to be the IAS Server.
This is quite strange as I can't find the user account within the IAS Server log.
Could anybody clues me in on this issue?
    Thak you.

it seems to me the user is logged on to some computer with an expired password. The computer attempts to connect to wifi and thus authenticate using the users expired credentials.
Ask the user to reboot all of the computers he uses. If the problem persists, check if the user has open sessions on other machines and check the configuration of the wireless network on the client.
