Wiring data into a graph in a cluster

Hallo,
I would like to ask please how to feed data into a  graph in a cluster. My intention is to read a data file (txt). So I read a spreadsheet, extract the data of interest from the header and of course the actual datapoints taken. For that reason I made a cluster of numerous elements some of which are XY graphs. I tried to extract the column vectors of the data and display them in a graph. The problem is that the connection is not OK. Labview keeps telling me that I have a data mismatch. I took two arrays, e.g. time and X, bundled them together and wired to the unbundled function of the indicator. The message is the source is a cluster of two elements whereas the sink is a 1D array of cluster of two elements. What does that mean ? I mean when I use a regualar indicator XY graph (not in a cluster) it works fine. Any hint is appreciated.
Yours Sincerely
Karel
PS: I generally used to do it the way that I created a custom control first then I place this control in my subVI and use bundle by nama and simply create a constant for the input cluster => select the elements I wish to update, is this the correct way of using the cluster of indicators ?

Yes.  Much easier to figure out what you are doing by way of looking at a VI rather than a bunch of words.
Use the Index and Bundle Cluster Array function.

  • Extrapolate data into a graph

    Thank you for taking a look at my question.
    I am having a hard time finding out how to extrapolate data into a graph. I am working on a business forecasting document and would like to create a break even analysis by charting the fixed, semi-fixed, and variable costs associated with revenues derived from sales represented.
    My fixed costs are fixed, and used for things like leases, advertising, operating expenses and office supplies.
    My semi-fixed costs are proportional to the number of sales we make covering incrementing outside services and personnel requirement costs.
    My variable costs are directly related to the number of sales made and cover the cost of making and delivering our product.
    I have my spreadsheet worked out to where I can input new sales numbers and see the effect on revenue. My question is can i create a graphical representation of this relationship?
    I would like to avoid having to create a chart of data with static values (such as 0 sales, 50 sales, 100 sales, 150 sales).
    I would rather be able to define the areas where I input my sales numbers, define the output total costs/revenues, and allow the graphical representation to extrapolate this data across a set range.
    Thank you again for taking a look, input is well appreciated,
    Jordan

    Ian,
    Thanks for the response - unfortunately I am not looking to use a bubble graph, rather to figure out how to have numbers use an equation to graph two variables (costs and revenues) when sales are between 1 and n.
    Here is a screenshot of an example breakeven point, please notice the way each increasing sale effects both semi-fixed costs and resulting revenue:
    Due to processing of the total sales number prior to it being returned, I cannot create a table between 1 and n to calculate all values beforehand. Instead I am attempting to designate this golden-colored cell to be my n sales value (on x-axis), then set a minimum and maximum range allowing Numbers.app to graph the resulting outputs (total costs and total sales).
    Barring this capability existing, I believe I will need to utilize AppleScript to insert the range of values (1-n) and copy the resulting numerical output to a new table, then create the chart from this data set. The only issue here is that I am as-yet unaware of how to create such an AppleScript.
    Thank you for your input,
    Jordan

  • Using Field Data for Interactive Graph?

    Hello,
    I work for a lighting company and our salesmen use in-house created sales materials on iPads in the field. We've found Acrobat PDF Files to be very effective in demonstrating how switching to different wattage bulbs can save them money, through the use of data calculation fields. However, we're also hoping to illustrate this visually through some type of interactive graph. Specifically, I'm trying to find a way, if possible, to make a "return on investment" bar graph that would tailor itself to the user. Here's an example of the type of graph I'm trying to make though a PDF:
    Basically, this chart shows how much of a initial investment (in this case ~$25,000) would be mitigated over 10 years (eventually saving the company over ~$70,000). Not that the details matter much... I just don't really know where to start. I have a small amount of experience using fields, and I'm versed enough for simple calcuation and pulling data from other fields, however I have no idea how to turn this data into a graph of this complexity (or even know if it's possible).
    Any advice would be vastly appeciated!
    Many thanks,
    Dan

    Your best best is to use some presentation software such PowerPoint or Keynote.
    On an iPad you could use Numbers to create the Graphs then put then copy the graphs into Keynote and have the run as interactive slides you click or touch an item like a slide.  I don't know of any software that create interactive Graphs That you can create graphs that grow or shrink by inputting numbers.
    I've Googled interactive Graph for Mac and come up with this:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Intreractive+Graph+for+Mac&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0 &start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=mozilla
    and here is result for iPad:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Intreractive+Graph+for+Mac&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0 &start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=mozilla#pq=intreractive+graph+for+mac&hl=en&gs_nf=1&tok= pFb9_G1GM62Cf32INLbniw&cp=27&gs_id=7oy&xhr=t&q=Intreractive+Graph+for+iPad&pf=p&client=moz illa&sclient=psy-ab&pbx=1&oq=Intreractive+Graph+for+iPad&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav =on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=43f3605c77841060&biw=1568&bih=755
    Note this not advertisment (spam) for any product on search results of things that can create interactive Graphs on Mac and iPads.

  • Convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs

    I am trying to convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs, with the series having the same formatting as in the graph when all series are together.
    Normally, if I delete any series, the color scheme for all the other series vanishes. I can then waste more time in having to re-adjust the  color and shape of the series, but this is tedious. This, I do not want. Is there an automated way to do this?
    Ideally, of course, all series would appear in little subsections in the space of the former one graph, all with individual axes, but I can't have all, so I'll settle with having several individual new graphs, each with just one series, and with the original
    formatting.
    Thx.

    How about creating a copy of the chart, and then setting all series except one to be transparent (no line, no marker)? Repeat for each series.

  • Exe behaves inconsistently with input data into a cluster

    I'm on Labview 2011, SP1, so this may have been updated, but here's a quirk I discovered.
    I was reading a network shared variable on a remote machine (with 7 integers) into a labview built app (exe) and passing those integers to a cluster used for control.  Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, so I figured I didn't understand shared variable enough (even though I had used them in the same situation many times).
    I switched to writing a file on that remote system, then reading that info into the same cluster.  Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.  Tried all kinds of tricks, but any time there was a direct connection between that variable input data and the cluster, it was inconsistent.
    Turns out that the problem seemed to be the exe halting without error upon bundling the data into the cluster, but not every time.
    So what finally got around the problem was writing the integers to a duplicate cluster, then using a local variable of that cluster to bundle those values into the  controlling cluster.
    Once the path between network passed input data and controlling cluster was "double blind" to the application builder, the problem was gone.
    In case it makes some difference, the controlling cluster originated as a user control.

    Do you have a simple example that demonstrates the problem. I would like to test it on later versions.

  • How to export waveform data into text file

    Hi..
        I am trying to export my waveform graph data into write spreadsheet file. When running the proram, I am getting graph values (values in a matrix) when checking with the probe. But once I save it to a text file, the values recorded are just zeros. I have attached the text file along with this. Could anyone please tell me why the graph data is not recorded in the spreadsheet? I have extracted the Y component of the graph and then wired it to the write to spreadsheet function. It seems like the labview is getting the data.. but now the problem is how to get the data out of labview?

    Please find the attched image of the whole program. I tried running the program after removing the array to matrix but still I am not able to export the graph values to spreadsheet. The program as a whole is working as I am able to display the oscilloscope graph into the waveform graph but I am not able to export the values. When I tried using probes, I am getting differnet matrix values till the end of the connection given to 'write to spreadsheet' but not able to export the values. The second image shows the write to spreadsheet file inside the while loop as i thought it will reduce the memory.. but it is still not working...

  • Help needed with passing data between classes, graph building application?

    Good afternoon please could you help me with a problem with my application, my head is starting to hurt?
    I have run into some difficulties when trying to build an application that generates a linegraph?
    Firstly i have a gui that the client will enter the data into a text area call jta; this data is tokenised and placed into a format the application can use, and past to a seperate class that draws the graph?
    I think the problem lies with the way i am trying to put the data into co-ordinate form (x,y) as no line is being generated.
    The following code is from the GUI:
    +public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {+
    +// Takes data and provides program with CoOrdinates+
    int[][]data = createData();
    +// Set the data data to graph for display+
    grph.showGrph(data);
    +// Show the frame+
    grphFrame.setVisible(true);
    +}+
    +/** set the data given to the application */+
    +private int[][] createData() {+
    +     //return data;+
    +     String rawData = jta.getText();+
    +     StringTokenizer tokens = new StringTokenizer(rawData);+
    +     List list = new LinkedList();+
    +     while (tokens.hasMoreElements()){+
    +          String number = "";+
    +          String token = tokens.nextToken();+
    +          for (int i=0; i<token.length(); i++){+
    +               if (Character.isDigit(token.charAt(i))){+
    +                    number += token.substring(i, i+1);+
    +               }+
    +          }     +
    +     }+
    +     int [][]data = new int[list.size()/2][2];+
    +     int index = -2;+
    +     for (int i=0; i<data.length;i++){+
    +               index += 2;+
    +               data[0] = Integer.parseInt(+
    +                         (list.get(index).toString()));+
    +               data[i][1] = Integer.parseInt(+
    +                         (list.get(index +1).toString()));+
    +          }+
    +     return data;+
    The follwing is the coding for drawing the graph?
    +public void showGrph(int[][] data)  {+
    this.data = data;
    repaint();
    +}     +
    +/** Paint the graph */+
    +protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {+
    +//if (data == null)+
    +     //return; // No display if data is null+
    super.paintComponent(g);
    +// x is the start position for the first point+
    int x = 30;
    int y = 30;
    for (int i = 0; i < data.length; i+) {+
    +g.drawLine(data[i][0],data[i][1],data[i+1][0],data[i+1][1]);+
    +}+
    +}+

    Thanks for that tip!

  • How to fetch data for a struture from a cluster table

    How can I fetch data for a struture, from a cluster table, based on the name of the structure?

    Hi,
    In order to read from Cluster DB Table use the following statement:
    Syntax
    IMPORT <f1> [ TO  < g1 > ] <f2> [TO < g2 >] ...
    FROM DATABASE <dbtab>(<ar>)
    [CLIENT <cli>] ID <key>|MAJOR-ID <maid> [MINOR-ID <miid>].
    This statement reads the data objects specified in the list from a cluster in the database <dbtab>.
    You must declare <dbtab> using a TABLES statement. If you do not use the TO <gi> option, the
    data object <fi> in the database is assigned to the data object in the program with the same
    name. If you do use the option, the data object <fi> is read from the database into the field <gi>.
    For <ar>, enter the two-character area ID for the cluster in the database. The name <key>
    identifies the data in the database. Its maximum length depends on the length of the name field
    in <dbtab>.
    The CLIENT <cli> option allows you to disable the automatic client handling of a client-specific cluster database, and specify the client yourself. The addition must always come directly after the name of the database.
    For Eg:
    PROGRAM SAPMZTS3.
    TABLES INDX.
    DATA: BEGIN OF JTAB OCCURS 100,
    COL1 TYPE I,
    COL2 TYPE I,
    END OF JTAB.
    IMPORT ITAB TO JTAB FROM DATABASE INDX(HK) ID 'Table'.
    WRITE: / 'AEDAT:', INDX-AEDAT,
    / 'USERA:', INDX-USERA,
    / 'PGMID:', INDX-PGMID.
    SKIP.
    WRITE 'JTAB:'.
    LOOP AT JTAB FROM 1 TO 5.
    WRITE: / JTAB-COL1, JTAB-COL2.
    ENDLOOP.

    once i get the data into a plsql table, how to get this plsql table data into the cursor?There is no such thing as a PL/SQL table - it is an array.
    It is nothing at all like a table. It cannot be indexed, partitioned, cluster, etc. It does not exist in the SQL engine as an object that can be referenced. It resides in expensive PGA memory and needs to be copied (lock, stock and barrel) to the SQL engine as a bind variable.
    It is an extremely primitive structure - and should never be confused as being just like a table.
    Its use in SQL statements is also an exception to the rule. Sound and valid technical reasons need to justify why one want to push a PL/SQL array to the SQL engine to run SELECT 's against it.

    As the other post pointed out, there are two objects in LV for plotting,
    graphs and charts. If you wish to have a chart recorder that
    accumulates data into one or more plot with time, you probably want a chart.
    If you push a button and acquire a trace and want to add that to your
    graph, you just need to
    combine it with the data you plotted before and
    update the graph. It isn't the most efficient, but you can easily read
    the value of the graph using a local, add another row or column or
    element to your data and send it to the graph.
    To directly answer your other question, no, the grah doesn't have a
    functional interface for clearing, adding, or deleting plots. Instead,
    you do that with the diagram nodes and give the graph the results.

  • How to write plan data into Transactional Cube from Visual Composer ?

    Dear experts,
    Visual Composer is very powerfull to build a 'nice-looking' web-report (I think is much better than Web Application Designer in term of freely position the chart/graph/table/selection parameter in anywhere we like. We can't have this flexibility in WAD) plus it also has strong integration to R/3 for posting the  transactions via RFC-Enabled Function Module (such as changing customer credit limit, approve PO, approve Sales Order, etc), so that the R/3 user won't even have to know the TrxCode.
    In addition to this, I just wondering if VC also capable to write plan data into transactional cube via Write-Enable Query. We can simply insert a BW Query into VC as planning layout (set the edit-mode to "editable") plus having some Wizards to make it more user-friendly and self-explanatory for the users.
    But I am not sure how to save the changes back to transactional cube from VC.
    Could anyone please kindly advise how to achieve this.
    "Seeing is believing" is always my learning method, so I would appreciate some "actioanable" explanation or hints.
    Many thanks,
    Sen

    Hi Sen,
    As far as I know, it's not possible to write data into transactional cubes directly from a table in Visual Composer through standar method, but it's possible to integrate a WAD with your input ready query into a URL element in VC (You can fill entry variables in VC and call WAD dinamically), so it's possible to create a planning application in VC calling dinamically WAD's.
    Another way to interact through VC is creating button objects that calls planning sequences (with BAPI calling RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE). Also can fill variables in VC and pass them to sequence.

  • Plot discontinuous data in labview graph/chart

    Hi,
    I would like to plot discontinuous data in a graph in labview.
    The data is aquired and plotted over time - butduring certain periods there is no data aquired.
    I don't want during these times any "line" between the adjescent points - I just want simply "no line".
    Maybe the best way to show it is this example of a javascript chart
    http://www.highcharts.com/stock/demo/data-grouping
    - zoom into the time around november 2005
    During certain times there is no data - this is implemented in the datastream as "null" instead of a vaild floating point number - similar to NaN for floating point numbers - the javascript code knows that in this case there should be no interpolation.
    Is there any way to have a similar behaviour with labview charts or graphs ?

    Yes.  Place an NaN value in the array where you data break is before sending it to the graph.

  • Loading Labview Binary Data into Matlab

    This post explains the Labview binary data format. I couldn't find all of this information in any one place so this ought to help anyone in the future.  I didn't want to add any overhead in Labview so I did all of my conversion in Matlab.
    The Labview VI "Write to Binary File" writes data to a file in a linear format using Big Endian numbers of the type wired into the "Write to Binary File" VI. The array dimensions are listed before the actual array data.
    fid = fopen('BinaryData.bin','r','ieee-be'); % Open the binary file
    Dim1 = fread(fid,4); % Reads the first dimension
    Dim2 = fread(fid,4); % Reads the second dimension
    Dim3 = ...
    Each dimension's length is specified by 4 bytes. Each increment of the first, second, third, and fourth byte represent 2^32, 2^16, 2^8, and 1 respectively. 0 0 2 38 equates to 2*256 + 38 = 550 values for that particular dimension.
    As long as you know the number of dimensions and precision of your binary data you can load it.
    Data = fread(fid,prod([Dim1 Dim2 Dim3]),'double',0,'ieee-be'); % Load double precision data
    If you have appended multiple arrays to the same file in Labview you would repeat this procedure. Load each dimension then load the data, repeat.
    Data = fread(fid,prod([Dim1 Dim2 Dim3]),'int8',0,'ieee-be'); % Load int8 precision data or boolean data
    I had to create a function for my own purposes so I thought I'd share it with everyone else too.  I uploaded it to the Matlab File Exchange.  The file is named labviewload.m.
    This was tested on Matlab R2007a and Labview 8.2.

    Thanks. I have the same questions as I tried to load labview binary data into Matlab.

  • EXPORT Data into Clusters B2

    How I can export data into Cluster B2

    Hi ,
        Its a very simple statement.
        Pass these values
        B2-KEY-PERNR = PERNR.
        B2-KEY-PABRJ = PABRJ.
        B2-KEY-PABRP = PABRP.
        B2-KEY-CLTYP = CLTYP.
        call this macro.
        rp-exp-c2-b2.
        but U need to fill the following structures.
