Witch MacBook is the best to buy if i want to Edit videos and photos? Any advice?

Hi Catflow and welcome to Apple Support.
So it kind of depends on how intensive your editing will be, especially videos. A professional video editor will have multiple monitors and the fastest possible Mac. I knew a video editor in Chicago who ran with 5 36" Cinema Monitors and an 8 Core Mac Pro.
A photo editor will have the largest possible monitor and processor speed would be less critical. I had a client who was a professional photographer. She wanted to buy an iMac. I told her she needed a Mac Pro with two Cinema Monitors. Later she thanked me because she said, "The clients see my pictures on those two huge monitors and they are immediately sold."
So if you want to stay with a laptop get the largest display you can with the max memory and maybe even a SSD. You could also use a smaller more portable model with an external display.
I put 8GB RAM and a SSD in this early 2011 13" MacBook Pro. Photoshop CS6 opens in 3 seconds vrs. 45 before the upgrade! I don't do a lot of photo editing. If I did and have done I'd use my Wife's Mini with the 23" Cinema display or my Daughter's iMac i5 with the 21.5" display!

  • Which Macbook is the best?

I'm going off to college in the fall and would like to know which macbook would be the best to buy.

Depending on what you'll be using it for.
Do you want portabilty?  Light in weight?  Then the MB Air is for you.
Do you want portablity yet need an optical drive?  Then go with the 13' MB Pro.
Are you going to use Photoshop/FCP/occasional games?  Then go with the 15' MB Pro.
Kinda hard to second guess what you want if you don't specify what apps you plan on using and how long you plan on keeping your MB.

    I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch early 2011.
The new features available in OS X Yosemite like Continuity, Handoff, etc are not supported in this model.
I did upgrade RAM to avoid any possible slowdown.
I found replacing the HD with SSD is  too expensive for  a 4 years old model.
Replacing the CPU/GPU is not for amateurs.
If you think that rebuilding a Mac part by part is a viable option, please go ahead and rebuild it.
    Best.

  • What is the best wireless printer to use with an IPad Air and IPhone?

What is the best wireless printer to use with an IPad Air and IPhone that will print both text and photos?  Also, is the separate keyboard available for the IPad Air, yet?

Best is relative. Different people like different things. I have an epson that I like. I'd look through a site like Best Buy and compare reviews for Air Print enabled printers.
as to the keyboard, I know Zagg has one and I think there are other manufacturers that have keyboards for the Air. As far as I know, pretty much any bluetooth keyboard will work, but if you want a case then you'd need to get a specific one.

  • Can someone please help. I have a really old MacBook that is running really slow. I want to wipe everything and reinstall the latest software but don't know how to do this. Also is there a way of keeping Microsoft Office when doing this? Thanks in advance

You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.
Here's the link for the US.  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
As for MS Office, you will need the original disk that it came on to reinstall it.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on Mac?
Export your Timeline content to a .mp4 file, using export settings which have been customized under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the export's preset.
See Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and .mp4 category. The exported file is then uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
If you post the properties of your source video and project settings, I will suggest the settings for the Timeline content export to file saved to the computer
hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site.

If you have used FreeHand before it is sill FreeHand of
course - as long as it works in our OS and there are no new
    features you like to use.
If you have documents with a lot of text elements and
multiple pages InDesign may be the second best choice. For
typography it is the best tool available.
Illustrator is more for illustrations, although it seems that
it has good control for type it is clumsy and there are a few major
bugs that makes it unsuitable for body text.

  • Definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW

    Hi,
I need your opinion in the definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW.
For example if we want to do reporting using BW on Actuals Vs Budget how should we manage this since technically BPC Model and BW InfoCube is different?
BPC Models have the Budget and BW has the actuals, but the InfoObject that is used for Account is different. What is the best approach to do the reporting?
    Thanks in advance,
    JA

    Hi Gersh
I already thought in that option, but the problem is the Yellow requests in the Infocube that are not used by VP.
In the past I used Report RSAPO_CLOSE_TRANS_REQUEST_ALL3 in the virtual function module to close the requests, but now I didn't want to use VP based on function module.
Is there any option to use data in Yellow requests in VP based on DTP?
    Best regards,
    JA

  • The BEST format to use with iDVD is .DV video from QT Pro ?

The BEST format to use with iDVD is .DV video from QT Pro ?
    Hi Jon
If you remember my video (640x480) NTSC in iMovie Project.
Someone told me that exporting movie to DV video QT from iMovie share option, for burning in iDVD, is the best quality possible.
    Is this true ?
If so what are the parameters ? Again is for seeing in a widescreen TV

Someone told me that exporting movie to DV video QT from iMovie share option, for burning in iDVD, is the best quality possible.... Is this true ?
As usual, this is really a matter of individual opinion. I personally prefer the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). It is newer codec specifically designed for use as an "intermediate" editing compression format. It is slightly more efficient than DV-25 (18-20 Mbps for audio + video vs. 28.5 Mbps) and is less restrictive (i.e.,the user has more control over certain settings). On the other hand, the very nature of having a highly standardized (few user option) compression format does appeal to many users since there are fewer things the user can mess up.
If so what are the parameters ? Again is for seeing in a widescreen TV
Bit rate, frame rate, and encoding dimensions are part of the standard and do not have user parameters as such other than selecting the NTSC or PAL standard. With regard to the aspect ratio, you simply select which you want to use—4:3 or 16:9. However, as I've previously mentioned, it is possible to distort your output by either entering the wrong aspect or to actually "lose" the embedded flag/value in some work flows. (I.e., a 4:3 aspect movie displayed at 16:9 makes the people an objects appear short and fat while encoding a 16:9 aspect movie as 4:3 will make them look tall and skinny.) Movies should always be encoded in their original aspect ratio since any modern digital TV will allow the user to disport—i.e., force a 4:3 file to fully fill a 16:9 display screen. In fact, some will even allow you to spread the distortion evenly across your screen or to the spread it proportionally. (On my set these features are called "H-Fill" and "Justify" respectively.) If you were to use the AIC video compression format rather than DV, then you would have to manually enter the display dimensions for the "standard" and/or "definition" format you are targeting.

  • I have a sequence shot on the 550d/rebel T2i, I converted it to prores 422 and edited in fcp. What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation.

i have a sequence shot on the 550d/rebel T2i, I converted it to prores 422 in MPEG Streamclip and edited in fcp. What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation. Rite now, i have been just clicking on the export to quicktime function, but the quality of the footage is completely reduced and colours look desaturated and there is pixellation compared to the original camera footage. Also is there anyway i can render and export the sequence using the original footage (like an online edit or something). Also is there anyway to upgrade the final quality. I have Compressor, Dvd Studio pro, Motion, Color and Cinema tools, i dnt know if they are of any use to me and have no idea how to use hem or what they are for also.

    >What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation
The best way to export is entirely dependent on what you plan to do with the exported video.  For example, if you plan to go to DVD, the export process is different than if you plan for web delivery or for iPhone viewing.  Compressor has presets for most final delivery formats ... start with those.
    >is there anyway i can render and export the sequence using the original footage
Yes.  In FCP, go to File-Export->QuickTime Movie.  Check the box to make the movie Self-Contained and use Current Settings.  Do NOT "Recompress All Frames."   The resulting self-contained movie will play on any Mac that has the needed audio and video codecs installed.
    >is there anyway to upgrade the final quality
No and maybe.  While you technically cannot improve quality over the original, you can possibly 'enhance'  the aesthetic quality of the video using various filters in FCP or Color.

  • The best way to make proxy files for editing?

    Hi,
What is the best way to create proxy files for editing? I'm thinking Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy). The original material is DVCPRO HD 1080i50, shot on Panasonic P2 cards, and copied on to hard drives. But as there is about 400 hours of it, I desperately need to find a clever way to make smaller proxy files for editing.
I would also like to make the proxies at a smaller resolution than 1080i for the editing process.
I guess it's possible to import the media and then batch export it to the proxy format, but Is there a better way?

I'm not able to ingest the material directly from the P2-folders as ProRes 422 (Proxy). No matter how much I change the import settings in "Log and transfer", it still ingests as DVCPRO HD 1080i50.
Correct. DVCPRO HD P2 can only come in as DVCPRO HD. You can't transcode it. AVCIntra P2 is what you can bring in as ProRes. (Sorry Tom).
I can of course transcode it form there to the proxy format and delete the ingested files,
Why? Why do that? You have ingested all the files, right? You ALREADY HAVE THEM...right? Why not work with them? You obviously have the room (20TB). Why import all this, then now take the days it would require to make proxies?
Making the ProRes-proxies directly from the P2-material seems more logical, or isn't it?
DVCPRO HD P2 cannot come in as anything else, so the offline/online workflow for them doesn't work unless you import it all, then transcode to a smaller format...but then need to keep the originals online to relink to when you are done. If you wanted to do an offline/online, you needed to research this better...or test it...before you shot your hundreds of hours only to find that what you want to do won't work.

  • HT204053 What is the best Appleid configuration when you want to share content with your children o n their ipad?

What is the best AppleId cinfiguration when you want share content with other iPads owned in family?

To share content you need to share an ID for the iTunes and App stores, however, I'd suggest seperate ID's for everything else.

How do I switch users on wifi sync for example my Mac has two users one apples MacBook pro the other is my name I want to switch from apples MacBook pro to my name how is this done?

Try connecting the iPad to the computer that you do not want to WiFi sync with and uncheck the WiFi sync option in iTunes. Then click on Apply. Reboot the iPad and see if that does the trick.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
