With all the problems related to firefox 4.o on this forum I want to know whether upgrading to 4.0 is advisable until bugs worked out???

Can someone with more expertise who has used 4.o for awhile tell me weather upgrading now is advisable or should I wait until the bugs are worked out?????

how do you figure whether the addons one uses is compatible with 4.0?
Thanks

Siri does Not work on the iPad 2.  iOS 7 is not even out yet, so we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to upgrade to it.

You didn't mention what error(s) you've encountered? A workaround for the most commonly hit problem is here Re: error in Muse : Object UID:U6875 has two (or more) owners: U3633 and U3165
If you have a copy of your .muse file that has not been saved using 2014.3, you can downgrade by uninstalling Muse and then choose Previous Version in the Filters drop down in the Apps panel of the Creative Cloud desktop app. There will be a popup next to Muse where you can select a prior version to install.

kweckstrom I'm still a little confused you claim to have been building computers since computers were practically invented but you coulden't figure out how to get a new 939 board up and running reliably?? It's really not that hard.. not like the P90 (the pentium that didn't run)
    1 you check for compatability,
    2 you buy your parts,
    3 you put it together..
    4 it runs.
First of all, you should read an entire post before replying. You must not have read it, because I obviously DID figure it out.
If you look at the compatibility list for the MSI board, it's abysmal. They test VERY few modules, and they haven't tested anything newer. Newer modules (like the newer Corsair XL's or Micron Ballistix) remain untested, and aren't likely to BE tested "officially". The Corsair 3200LLPT's worked fine in my P4 rig. They worked fine on the Gigabyte 939 NF3 board. One can reasonably expect that they would have worked fine on the MSI, after all it's the same chipset.
But no, they didn't.  Not even after upgrading my power supply. Yet if I slap all this stuff together on the gigabyte board, all was fine and dandy, even on a PS that only delivered 18A on +12v.
When I tried out the ballistix, I ran into even worse problems, even after ignoring SPD and upping voltage to it's rated 2.8v. But after upgrading my Power Supply, those problems went away and the system is now rock solid and stable.
I'm an older guy with a wife and 2 kids, not to mention a full-time career as a network engineer. I don't have tons of nights and weekends to work through nagging compatibility or stability issues. That's why I say I wouldn't put myself through that mess again.

If your buying enthousiast grade parts expect to do a little research first because it's a fact there are more untested parts and there will be some incompatabilities but it's absolutely no different than any intel platform of the same age..
Maybe you should have had someone with a little more time and skill build a system for you??
Then you may have been able to aviod these PEBCAK errors lol
Taking the high road, I see
You should actually read my post next time. I solved the problem long ago. I'm simply saying that this platform is an annoying one because there are tons of incompatibilities that lead to stability issues. That's fact, and you aren't much of an engineer if you dispute it.
What you say about intel systems of the same age is completely untrue. You'd have a hard time finding an intel board that's incompatible with DDR2 by any specific vendor. You'd also have a hard time finding any intel boards that have quirks with PCI Express cards. You'll also have a hard time finding any Power Supply compatibilities with LGA775, because a specific type of power supply is required (dual-rail with PCI-E headers). Sorry, you're wrong here.
On the Athlon64-939, out of the gate you'll have problems with certain hardware.
Take the Geforce 6800's.... The 6800's don't require 2D and 3D clock speeds to be identical on a P4 system. The bios by default doesn't normalize clock speeds for 2d and 3d, because a 425mhz 2D core value uses power needlessly and doesn't make much sense. But if you're on the Nforce3 platform, you're FORCED to set them identically or your 3d games will stutter and eventually freeze.
There's people with issues on Nforce3 using Fast Writes. Some people have to disable them. You simply don't need to do this on intel.
There's people with issues using Audigy cards (the original Audigy 1). They cause BSOD's. This doesn't happen on Intel systems. They work fine there. (Audigy 2 is unaffected).
If someone's doing research into problems regarding the Athlon64 platform, i'm not going to blow sunshine up everyone's butt. I'm going to tell it like it is. I'm not married to any specific vendor, and i'm not someone who's going to insult someone's system building or research skills because he ran into problems with his latest build.
These problems are VERY real, and if you read this board it's LOADED with people who are having issues with stability. You shouldn't be quick to blame their research or skill with a screwdriver.

  • Should I get an iMac with all the problems about?

So, as my birthday is coming up I decided to get an iMac, however on Wednesday I read on Gizmodo about the yellow screen debacle, so after doing some research on the matter I'm not sure what to get any more.
I decided (Before I read this on Giz) to get a 21.5" iMac.
So I have a few questions about it.
1: Does the 21.5" iMac's screen flicker and blackout like the 27", it's very hard to find info about it as it seems it only affects 27", but is that because it doesn't effect 21.5" or because not many people bought the 21.5" iMac
2: Just how bad is this 'yellowing', I've looked at various photos of it and can hardly see any problem, does anyone have a really bad screen with the bottom of the screen being strongly yellow tinted?
3: Should I just skip all these problems and get a Macbook?
    Please help me decide!

You have done your research on the new iMacs so you already know the answers to your questions. It's difficult to come to a consensus though because some report problems and some report they have no problems. It's your birthday... in my honest opinion, go for it.
Post back when you have your machine as to your findings on your machine. That's the one that matters.
Sorry if I am sounding a little tired of this but many people have asked the same question and many have provided the same answers. If you are very conservative you might want to wait and see, but if you don't want to postpone your birthday, go ahead; your iMac may be fine and if not, Apple will make it right. Do buy AppleCare.

  • With all the problems, why keep the iPhone?

Over the last two weeks I have read hundreds of complaints about the iPhone. There seems to be a wide range of problems. I have also read that many, if not most, have not been able to resolve their problem. This leaves at least some of the iPhones unreliable at most.
My question is why are all these people keeping the iPhone if they are having that much trouble with it?
Of course, I may be in the same boat soon because I ordered the iPhone despite what I have read. For one thing, I like the features of the iPhone. And another reason I am going to give it a try is because I know a guy that got one on the first day and he has never had a single problem with it. However, if I do have problems then I will return it and get a different brand. I for one will not put up with a phone that is not totally functional. And I will not wait for software updates hoping it will fix the problems.
I even read a few posts that had a whole list of problems and had to reset the phone continually. Yet, they said: Well, that is alright. I love my iPhone and I am going to keep it anyway… I was amazed.

  • What is going on with all the ads lately? I do not have this problem with Chrome or IE and I have done the update.

I've been a big fan of what you guys are doing for a long time but can not stand using the browser lately due to the pop ups everywhere. It makes me question the whole "Proudly Non-Profit" thing.

Do you have the pop-up blocker enabled?
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Content
Is there any pattern to the ads?
In case it's a rogue add-on, could you disable all nonessential extensions here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
After restarting Firefox, do you notice any different in the number or type of pop-ups?

  • With all the problems,, why bother? Use Super Duper

I don't really know if going thru all this trouble is worth it to get constant backups.
Plus your backup HD will be humming all the time.
So is TD really worth all the trouble to get it working, and when you do, is it worth it?

SD has preliminary support for Leopard, so I would not trust it (yet).
SD clones your hard disk, what is very much different than a true backup. With a backup I can go back to retrieve multiple versions, say I need a text file with the content I had last sunday. SD can't, once your hard disk is cloned is has that one state on the clone. It actually happened already twice to me that my cloned disk did not have files anymore I deleted by accident. TM is for me the solution I was waiting for. And it works for me

  • Pages won't open and same with all the previous documents. How do I fix this?

When I went to click on Pages in the dock it created a barely visible circle around it and wouldn't open.  I took it off the dock and afterwards could not get it back on. None of the documents will open and they all claim that it could not be opened because the file isn't in the correct format.  I'm not sure what to do to get it to work. Any suggestions?

    KR,
Exit all Apps and Restart Computer.
With only Pages app running, if still Pages still won't work, Create a new User Account and see if the new account has the same problem.
If new account works ok, problem is most likely in .plist user files of the original account. If that's the case, we'll help you locate and delete them.
Also, Using Disk Utility, check HD and Repair Permissions. Try again.
Now, if things still don't work, it's time to consider a reinstall.

  • HT4356 Has anyone else found that after ios7 download, my HP 5520 AirPrint printer is now listed with all the networks that my ipad  can see. This means that I have to change networks to the printer in order to print.

After downloading ios7 my printer occurs in the list of wifi networks. In order to print I have to go to settings and "join" the HP 5520 network. Then, when I am finished, I have to return and re-join my router's network.

    Hi Newent1,
Under a normal Airprint configuration, the printer should be joined to your primary wireless network as a client. That way, you should not have to switch networks to print (print data goes from iPad => router => printer). If something has changed in your configuration, you may need to set your printer back up to rejoin your network. You may find the troubleshooting portion of the following article helpful:

Tell your wife to get her own Apple ID. If you do not want continuity/handoff to work with calls, on both devicesgo to Settings==>>FaceTime==>> Turn OFF iPhone cellular calls.

Your code is absolutely unreadable - even if someone was willing to
help, it's simply impossible. I do give you a few tips, though: If you
understand your code (i.e. if it really is YOUR code), you should be
able to realize that your minimum and maximum never get set (thus they
are both 0) and your exam 3 is set with the wrong value. SEE where
those should get set and figure out why they're not. Chances are you
are doing something to them that makes one 'if' fail or you just
    erroneously assign a wrong variable!

I purchased Microsoft Office for Mac through the Apple website.. I have downloaded all from the disk into my Mac, no problem with all the other Word etc, but Outlook is asking for the key number: I have put it in but its obviously not the right one...???? In the box with the disk came the product key, have put it in and it doesnt work. Please help..x

unfortunately - you can not.  you can't even buy outlook by itself at microsoft's own website.
does it have to be outlook?  maybe you can get away with using something else that's outlook compatible.
how about trying Thunderbird for Mac OS?
or maybe you can call apple and let them know you purchase the wrong version - they might give you a break and just pay the difference for the home and business version.
    good luck
