Wizard Style layout and flex items
Dear JHeadstart team,
We have several pages where the "Wizard Style Layout" is checked and where a flex item region is defined.
However, the generator generates the flex item region correctly, but the page definition misses the flexitems methodAction and invokeAction.
Standard pages work correctly with the flex item regions.
Current fix:
1. Switch off "Clear page definition before generation"
2. Manually add entries in the page definition.
Am I correct?
Remco Moolenaar
Connexys
Hi Remco,
We also use wizard-style layout with flex item regions successfully. In our JHeadstart application definition, we have defined one Item Region in the Regions region container for each page. Within each Item Region,
we have included one item with display type = flexRegion.
For each Item Region, one page is generated and all methodAction and invokeAction tags are included in the page definition file.
Could you please provide more details on your application definition structure?
Regards,
Ibrahim

Layout Style "tree-form" with Wizard Style Layout checked
Dear all,
I am using layout style "tree-form" with Wizard Style Layout check box checked. intention is to display the hierarchy in tree and insertion with the help of Wizard for the last block. But with above settings, generated form is displaying as blank.
Example of required behavior: REGIONS should be displayed in Tree while the new Employees entry should be with the help of Wizard Style Layout.
Thanks in advance for help.
Muhammad ShafiqueMuhammed,
This combination is not supported. But you can acvhieve what you want by creating a separate group to insert a new employee. This additional group should have form layout, wizard checkbox checked, and "Add Menu Entry" option unchecked.
Then you can customize the New button in the existing tree-form employee group to navigate to the new employee wizard group.

Problem with wizard Style layout.
Hi Dear Jheadstart team,
I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.1 and jhs 10.1.3.0.95,
I have developed a data entry page using wizard style in separate pages witch have 5 pages, I have followed all steps which is shown in demo screenshot #4, surprisingly enough, the generated page shows 10 steps instead of 5 in witch the name of pages are duplicated(p1,p1,p2,p2,p3,p3 , …). When I run the application, it’s done in 5 steps with step numbers 2, 4, 6,8,10.
What I have done wrong? Is there any setting to avoid this situation?
Thank you in advance.
Alireza.Alireza,
There is an issue with the 10.1.3.0 evaluation version which causes pages to appear twice in the process train bar. This happens when the page has an LOV, "depends on item", or file upload items.
The work around is to remove the duplicate entires in the generated WizardProcessModel bean definition after generation, or to create a custom template for this bean def.
This has been fixed in the 10.1.3.1 production version.

Generation of detail buttons with wizard style
Hi,
A master (table style layout)-detail normally creates parent-to-child buttons. Unfortunately, these buttons are also generated on our wizard page that is based on a master with two details.
So we changed the pageComponent/formGroup.vm template and added :
an extra if-statement : #if (!($group.wizardStyle)) within the <af:tableSelectOne to prevent the generation of the buttons but keep the selection.
Suggestion for the next release ;-).
Ciao
AinoAIno,
Makes sense, I guess we didn't really anticipate a table layout in a wizard style layout.

Hi,
I am using JHeadstart v10.1.3. I am experimenting with setting the 'Overall Layout Style' property to 'Wizard Style'. I cannot get this to generate Back/Next buttons. It seems to generate the same screens as if I had selected 'Menu Style'.
Are there some other related properties that I must set?
Thanks,
GavinHi Gavin,
According to JHeadstart release note:
The following functionality is not yet implemented in this 10.1.3 Preview Release.

Style and layout for text item displayed in new window
1. I publish a text item and selects "Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window".
2. When I open the item the layout and style of the window is not as wanted.
Where can I find the template containing this layout and style? How can I create my own layout and style?Not possible in the current release of Portal. We're planning templates for text and other item types in a future release.

ValueObjects and Flex 3 or 4 Wizards
I think I have many of the VO concepts down but still am not quite getting it to work so if I could get some quick feedback it would be much appreciated.
So I have a RemoteObject which calls a cfc that then calls a MySql Stored Procedure and ultimately returns to flex a (I guess) structure/object/query/Array/ArrayCollection??? in the sense that I don't have any data typing in the cfc (ie I can display the returned results in a Datagrid where the headers are the database field names).
Now, various tutorials SEEM to suggest datatyping the results in the cfc and then via the alias attribute I think mapping said cfc to a similarly defined flex vo (which the Flex 3 cfc wizard purports to do automatically). I again think this step also includes essentially stripping off the database fieldnames and thereby benefiting from reduced data transmission and flex receipt computation requirements -- but to me it seems an imposition of logic on the CF "layer" (whereas I've thought that the app would be best with logic at mainly the dbase but secondly at the flex client layer). Am I correct in this/these deduction(s) -- fwiw I have yet to find a tutorial which spells such a process out without assuming a better knowledge of CF than I have -- and what are opinions on the performance implications???
Secondly (and regardless of whether cfc typing occurs) I think I have been missing the step in the vo process in which the vo is stored in a "model" layer. Cairngorm/Mate/etc aside, if say in my main app I import the CustomVO.as then the next steps are to "populate an instance" of the vo -- but then to further save said instance in a "model" (the step I've been missing) -- and then bind my app components to the model (ie NOT to the instance), right?
Obviously such a process is not necessary in every application but fwiw my app detects visitor location (based on ip) and then returns a look&feel specific for say each state. Moreover, members who then log in are shown the look&feel they may have previously customized. Now, the backend dbase to do this works fine but on the flex/client side I'm thinking (derived from tutorials) to:
A.) Include in the main app a <mx:Model> with default look&feel values (not much data and good insurance for if say dbase goes down)
B.) have a initialize=". . . " call a <mx:RemoteObject> which returns the state specific values which then overwrite the values in the model above
C.) Upon successful signin return member specific values (I THINK that before overwriting the model here I want to write the (B) values to a SharedObject such that upon signout there is not the need for another call to the server.
Anyway, thanks for reading this novel, let me know if I am on the right track (or continuing the trainwreck )
Edit: Not to further impose but relatedly what are best practices for say search results (ie paginated lists) -- should/need they be valueObjects (seems like a great deal of computing to me) and/or typed on the CF server side?bump

When to use Drop In Item renderer and InLine Item Renderers ??
Hi ,
I am getting confused in where to use Inline ItemRenderer and DropIn Item Renderer .
What i feel is that DROP in Item Renderer are easy to use , and those can satisfy any requirements .
What i read from tutorilas that we cant use Drop In because they say , The only drawback to using drop in is that them is that you cannot configure them
Please help me .Hi Kiran,
Here is the detailed explanation you needed:
You can also refer the link below:
http://blog.flexdevelopers.com/2009/02/flex-basics-item-renderers.html
Drop-In Item Renderers
Drop-In Item Renderers are generic in nature and don't rely on specific data fields to render data. This allows them to be used with a wide range of data sets, hence, the term “drop-in”. Drop-In Item Renderers can be “dropped-in” to any list-based control regardless of the dataprovider’s data properties.
In our previous example, the employee photo property requires use of a custom Item Renderer to render properly in the UI. In this scenario the Image component satisfies our rendering needs out of the box. Implemented as a Drop-In Item Renderer, the Image component takes any data property regardless of name and uses it as the Image component's source property value. Assuming our employee photo property contains a valid image path, the Image Drop-In Item Renderer will work perfectly and resolve the image path as an image in the UI.
<!-- Drop-in Item Renderer: Image control -->
<mx:DataGridColumn dataField="photo"
headerText="Employee Photo"
itemRenderer="mx.controls.Image"/>
Drop-In Item Renderers are simple and easy to use and satisfy specific use cases nicely. However, they provide no flexibility whatsoever. If your needs are not satisfied by a Drop-In Item Renderer, you must create your own Item Renderer as an inline component or an external component.
Inline Item Renderers
Generally used for simple item rendering requiring minimal customization, inline Item Renderers are defined as a component nested within the MXML of your list-based control.
It is important to note that Item Renderers nested within the itemrender property of a list-based control occupy a different scope than the list-based control. Any attempt to reference members (properties or methods) of the parent component from the nested Item Renderer component will result in a compile-time error. However, references to the members of the parent component can be achieved by utilizing the outerDocument object.
<mx:DataGrid id="myGrid" dataProvider="{gridData}">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Show Relevance">
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:Image source="{'assets/images/indicator_' + data.showRelevance + '.png'}"
toolTip="{(data.showRelevance == 1) ? 'On' : 'Off'}"
click="outerDocument.toggle()" />
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:DataGridColumn>
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
Remember, rules of encapsulation still apply. Mark all properties or methods public if you want them accessible by your inline Item Renderer. In the previous example, the toggle() method must have a public access modifier to expose itself to the inline Item Renderer.
public function toggle():void
Inline Item Renderers can also be reusable by creating a named component instance outside of the list-based control. This component must have an id property and contain the rendering logic of the Item Renderer. Using data bindings, the component is assigned to the itemrenderer property of one or more data properties of a list-based control.
<!-- Reusable inline Item Renderer -->
<mx:Component id="ImageRenderer">
<mx:VBox width="100%" height="140"
horizontalAlign="center" verticalAlign="middle">
<mx:Image source="{'assets/'+data.image}"/>
<mx:Label text="{data.image}" />
</mx:VBox>
</mx:Component>
<!-- Used within a list-based control-->
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Image"
dataField="image" width="150"
itemRenderer="{ImageRenderer}"/>
In the previous example, note that the Item Renderer component contains 2 UI controls – Image and Label. When using multiple controls within an Item Renderer, a layout container is required. In this example, a VBox was used.
If this post answers your question or helps, please kindly mark it as such.

Complex layout and images on webdynpro
Hello:
I've been using webDynpro for some apps, and I couldn't help noticing how "hars" the final GUI is... is there a way that I can import an HTML file and start importing eviews from there?
You know websites usually start in photoshop, I create the layout, images, branding there and then export as -> html and images so I get a really cool layout (designers point of view)
Then I'd go to dreamweaver and insert all php jsp and programmatic stuff... I'd like to import the htmls into webdynpro instead of dreamweaver, is that possible? if not, how can I embed things like flash, javascript, etc?
Thanks!
alejandroHi
If you are looking for change layout, style, look and feel,... without recompile and that...
why don't you use WebDynpro themes.
Go thorugh the follwing Web Dynpro Java
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/business_packages/a1-8-4/nw04stack09themes.zip
To know how to use it and for the steps to be followed please follow the tutorial here
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how to edit web dynpro themes.pdf
the last url gives you a step by step procedure with wizards..

Error in flex item, combinations table for this flexfield has more 1 entry
HI OAF Gurus,
I setup a flex item with the following attributes:
ID = CostAllocationKFF
Item Style = flex
View Instance = XXPerAsgDetailsVO
Rendered = true
Appl Short Name = PAY
Name = COST
Type = key
Segment List = XXPAY_COST_ALLOCATION|Company|Cost Centre
In my controller, I have the following code in processRequest to bind the KFF against the CostAllocationKFF item:
String costFlexStrucCode = "XXPAY_COST_ALLOCATION";
boolean flag1 = false;
OAKeyFlexBean oacostallockeyflexbean = (OAKeyFlexBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("CostAllocationKFF");
if(oacostallockeyflexbean != null)
oacostallockeyflexbean.useCodeCombinationLOV(flag1);
oacostallockeyflexbean.setCCIDAttributeName("CostAllocKeyflexId");
oacostallockeyflexbean.setStructureCode(costFlexStrucCode);
Now, at processRequest it is picking up the right segment values. However, when I dont update the segments and I hit a button that will eventualy call processFormRequest, it is giving me the following error,
"The combinations table for this flexfield contains more than one entry that matches the entered values. Inform your system administrator that the combination identified by the number 6419 is duplicated."
Is there anything that I'm missing? What should I do to refrain from such error happening? I also have a flex item for people group but it is not giving me the same error message. Please advise. Thank you very much.can someone help shed light on this? I'm still trying to find out what's causing this issue. Thanks!

Items Moving on Paper Layout When Other Items are Moved
I am new to Oracle Reports development, so I apologize for the elementary question in advance. I could not find a solution searching the forum.
When I am moving a text item on the paper layout editor to reposition it other items are moving along with that item. I have set both the confine and flex properties off. What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance!
KyleProblem solved.
I just realized that the flex should be turned off since this option is used to keep item relations together when one item moves. -
Custom templates/styles/layouts
custom templates/styles/layouts that I save - no matter which folder I save them in (and change the path accordingly in DVDSP prefs)/delete prefs/repair permissions - do not appear in DVD SP 4.0.3's palettess viewer. Any suggestions? Want to drag a track inc chapter markers to menu, to create a menu, but SP then forces me to choose a template/layout, but of course the one I have made is unavailable...
Hi Chuck,
It seems you are hoping to have possible multiple layouts for specific products which unfortunately is not available at this stage. There's only 2 dedicated small product layouts and 1 large details layout.
If wanting to wrap the product item to a different template you could assign the product item to a specific catalog to have the unique template but the layout would remain consistent to what I've noted above.
Kind regards,

Log Message:
Reordering the if-statement in isMeasureFixed() exposed that hostFormat can be null when measure() is called if styles changed and measure is done before the next commitProperties. This states test exposed this.
We should rethink if we want to clear hostFormat rather than have a hostFormatChanged flag. If there is no hostFormat at measure then it has to be fixed because there is no line break format to check for auto-size.

Modified Paths:
flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/spark/src/spark/primitives/RichEditableText.asOh my god, it is too long! You definitely check out types, casting and especially ODP.Net (it does everything for you)... etc. They can help you to simplify your code. I do not have enough time to copy paste it to Studio and understand and solve your issue, so I got title of your message as your main question.
In Oracle, you can create an autonumber field by using sequences object. This is really useful when you need to create a unique number to act as a primary key.
Basically you can create a sequence simply typing;
CREATE SEQUENCE MY_SEQUENCE;
now you have a sequence called "MY_SEQUENCE"... Then, I advice you select a number from sequence;
select MY_SEQUENCE.nextval from dual;
I said I advice actually kinda must, although it called sequence, I cannot be sequential. Do not even try to predict the value. You can be sure that it is unique number so you can use it.
Then insert you record and use that number part of your primary key. I think that's it. Have fun. -
Can I mix Pages page layout and word processing together in one document?
Hello there ! I am quite new to Pages and I am desperate to learn as i want to get rid of everything being Microsoft
As you all know when you open Pages you can choose between page layout and word processing !
the thing is i thought that after using a page layout you could just go with word processing easily... well no, you can't, but i'm sure i'm missing something...
For exemple i really like the catalogue brochure and it would be perfect for me to start a project... but after a few pages, i can just add blank pages and if i want to type text, i have to add text boxes... i don't want that, I want word processing... and another thing in this brochure i can't add table of content because it is not by default in the template...
So my question is quite basic here, can we link Page layout and word processing without having to use text boxes and everything ?
Thanks in advance !
Have a good dayAlexander,
Welcome to Apple discussions.
The simple answer is no. What differentiates page layout from word processing mode is that the PL mode has no text layer. So everything that goes on the page must be an object of some kind. And any pages you add to a PL document must also be PL. You can't mix the two modes. One way around it is to start with a blank page, insert a text box, then stretch the box so that it covers the entire page. You can the type in it as if it were a text layer in a WP file. You can even capture that page so that you can add it automatically when you need it, or save it as a template.
As for building a Table of Contents, it appears that Pages only sees text styles that are on the text layer, which means it won't see styles that are in objects -- which means it won't work with a PL document. From being a long-time reader of this discussion group, I've noticed it's rare that someone wants to add a ToC to a PL document.
If you find that you're going to be mixing text and graphics, start with a word processing template. If you really like the Catalog Brochure, you could always copy some or all of its elements over to a blank WP template.
Hope this helps.
