Also, after you provisioned PWA, are you able to get to the server settings? Did you do any configurations with PWA or using the defaults?
Are you trying to add the project using the FarmAdmin account or did you add yourself as a resource with project manager role?

  • Add Bulk Users to Project Server 2010 site using a Script

I have 100 users that I need to add to a Project Server 2010 site. Add these through server settings would take a week to do. Is there a way to add users in bulk like with a script or something that can pull from an CSV
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
I am not sure if I got your question?
If you want to add these users to a site of a specific project, just add them as team members to this project. This will provide read access to them. If you assign them to a task within this project, they will alos get write access in this site.
If you want to add this users as Project Server resources and users and just have a list of them, you can use copy/paste. Go to Resource Center and click on Open. Project client will start with checked out Enterprise Resources. Add columns Windows User Account,
Email Address, and all other fields you want to fill. Make sure that the columns and the sequence of columns does match the columns in your file. Use copy/paste to insert all users into Project. Save and Close. Use Option Bulk Edit, if you want to define
eg Timesheet Manager. As a last step go to Server Settings - Manage Groups and add them to the appropriate groups.
    Does this answer your question?

  • How many enterprise projects we can create in a single project web app site in project server 2013 enterprise?

I have MS SharePoint 2013 Enterprise and MS Project Server enterprise installed in the same server,
I have created project web app site
can anyone tell me that how many enterprise projects I can create in a single Project web app site
what is the recommended number of enterprise project per project web app

As I remember each project site is a sub site in a project Web app site collection.  That means you can have a maximum of 250,000 project sites before you run out of space in the site collection.  That's the boundary for sub sites in a single
site collection for SharePoint 2013.  Project server doesn't have a specific limit.

I have been having some problems with workflows that I was trying to create, and when trying to fix that, I think I created a new problem.  I know that the feature {6c09612b-46af-4b2f-8dfc-59185c962a29} has to do with a collect signatures workflow,
but I see that in other team sites and did not turn it off anywhere else.
Anyone have any ideas to shoot my way?

    Hi there,
Yes the feature {6c09612b-46af-4b2f-8dfc-59185c962a29} is the SignaturesWorkflow.
From the error message it looks like your Site Template has been saved with this feature activated, and you are trying to create the web in a site collection where the feature is not active.
This usually happens when people try to move site templates between environments or between site collections that are configured differently.
You could fix this problem a few ways:
     - Enable the feature in the site collection via the UI or via PowerShell.
    get-spfeature | ?{$_.ID -eq "6c09612b-46af-4b2f-8dfc-59185c962a29"} | Enable-SPFeature -URL http://somesite
     - Go back to the location where the site template was created, deactivate the feature and re-create the site template.
     - Acknowledge that you site template is the problem and switch back to the default "Project Site Template" for creating project workspace sites.
    Cheers,
       James.

  • Project Server 2010 Site Template Update

    Hi,
I have a Project Server 2010 environment in which there are several site templates created and there are about 500 projects.
Now, I have the requirement of changing some templates (add a list, some fields in a existing Risks and Issues lists, etc.)
How Can I update current template?
If I update current template, Will the sites created be updated with the new lists and fields? Or Should I do these additions by hand?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Another related question,
We have created custom Web Template by saving as a template one site. Later we have created 20 sites using that Web Template. And now we want to update this template to "Site Template v2". We create other Web Template and now we have two
"Site Template v1" and "Site Template v2". Should we remove "Site Template v1" from Solutions Gallery? Or it is neccesary while exists sites created with version 1?

  • Project Server 2013 Site Owner not changed when Project owner is changed

It seems when a project is created the project site "owner" is set to be the person that created the project. If the project owner is changed then site "Owner" is not updated.  This is a problem on several fronts and I am almost
hoping it is an issue with my install.(We are running Project permissions mode)
Use Case 1: A project manager leaves the company and the New PM is added as the new project owner. After addition and publish the site owner remains the same as the original. this means the new pm can't share the site (to a stakeholder who is not in the
ERP) by adding them to the general "Contribute" group or otherwise.
Use Case 2: a planner creates a portfolio project and gets it through the workflow and all. the PM is assigned but can't add other stakeholders without going back to the planner and having them add them to the project site as an owner.
Question: Is this a feature or a bug? Is there a script to do this?
Seems kind of cumbersome and has already produced numerous issues for us.
    Tasks

    Bob,
Unfortunately, you are seeing the behavior as designed. The Project Site Owner will always be the person, who created the project site (i.e. Project). This is because, after the initial creation, the only groups that are synced are:
<Site Name> Project Managers (Project Web App Synchronized)
<Site Name> Team Members (Project Web App Synchronized)
<Site Name> Web Administrators (Project Web App Synchronized)
The idea here is that, all 'sharing' of the project site will happen via the project schedule/Project Server. Anybody who is part of the Project team, will be given Team member access, and anybody with rights to save that project will be given project manager
    acess on the Project site,
This is also good in a way, because, this prevents any license violations, (users who access project sites also should have PWA CAL), that could happen via direct sharing.
Having said that, you have couple of options:
    1) Make it part of your process that when a owner changes, the admin (or workflow) manually adds the new owner to the Site Owners group.
    2) Disable Project Site Sync, and manage it via the AD Groups (depending upon on your security model).

  • No "Document Library" in a Project's SharePoint Site Mobile View

The mobile view for certain sites -- all from the same SharePoint site template -- do not have the Documents library in mobile view, nor is it an option to add when editing the mobile view. Oddly, the document library is available in the mobile view of the
    template.
Has anyone seen this happen before?

I managed to sort this on my own and here's what I learned in case someone else comes across this issue in the future.
The library was not corrupted, but it was buggy. The lack of any available views caused the paths to go weird as described above. The allitems view was not deleted, however, but it was marked as hidden and had the name removed from it. I was able to recover
this by modifying the properties on the allitems view in the SPList.views collection. Not sure how it happened, but it was an easy fix.
The other issue was me being a newbie with SP. The user had uploaded new files for the list using explorer which appears to initially set them to be checked out. Since they never had a checked in version, they don't appear in any view, in search, etc. but
they are included in the SPList.ItemCount property. This resulted in a seemingly "empty" document library with files in it.
I hope this helps the next person to come along with a similar problem. Serious pain to figure this out, but I got a lot of good experience with the SP PowerShell environment, so it had a bit of a silver lining.

  • How to get the project name in a Reporting Services Report in a Project Site?

    Hi,
I developed a report using Reporting Services where I need to choose a project to see the report. I want to include it in a Project Site template using a SSRS Web part. As the report will be in a project web site, I would like the report appears automatically
showing the project of the site without the need of choose of the project.
Can it be done without developing a complex code?

Unfortunately there are a number of ways to navigate to a project site. (From Project Center is another) - Covering them all is not an option.
Like I said before there are two options, using a server-side web part - or using client-side code like the following: (just put this in a content editor on the page of your report and it will ensure there is a ProjUid on the query string)

  • Site Workflow or Project Workflow ?

    Friends.
One client needs to have Have a Workflow approval for any changes that happen in any original / current project. I am wondering if I should:
A -- have an EPT linked to a workflow so that they could register their " project changes" as an additional project
B -- have a site workflow inside the project workspace which needs to have the change in " scope, quality, budget or schedule"
C -- change the original Project EPT (which does not contain workflow) linked to a workflow. Have users to execute the approval steps/phases for new projects as well as Project changes. Then I will have them to " restart workflow when they need change
the scope/cost/schedule of their projects and find a way to track those changes (number of changes for each project)
In your experience what is the most used solution ? The original project EPT does not contain an workflow associated to it, so we just need cover " project changes" . (seens a bit strange that their original project does not need approval, maybe
they are doing some kind of project portfolio offline .have an additional project EPT with workflow to " manage variations of projects request"
or would be better if we bind variations/project change requests inside the original Project workspace, using site workflows
    d) I have not figure how to put the " site workflow"  to work, Can you pls send me some articles ?

    Hi Bruno,
Here is what I'd suggest. Basically you're willing to put in place a
change request process through Project Server.
First you have to consider how you defined your EPTs and if you can have CR (change request) for any of them. For instance, you could have EPTs like R&D, improvment, new product... Then you could have CR for any of those EPTs. In this case (and it is
what I suggest), CR should not be a specific EPT, but a process available for each EPT.
Thus I'd advice to have something like a "change request" custom list in your SharePoint project site. You could first design the process with the CR metadata, then you'll include those metadata as the CR list columns (type of CR, approval required, $$,
    scope, man/week required....).
On this list you can attach workflow for CR approvals. I'd also advice to associate to this process baselines in MS Project Pro to keep track.
The advantage is that you can afterward build reporting upon CR lists of all projects and consolidate globally change requests.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Adavi,
i've created the workflow in a placeholder template for test purpose and it works. I confirm you dependence from:
    - App Configuration Management Service (hidden in TechNet but you receive error if is not active);
    - User Profile Service and Sync Service active;
    - Profile Syncronization started;
The error occurs when i create a new project with the site template created with the issue list workflow inside.
I'll wait for your test and tomorrow i'll test it in an other environment to exclude installation dependence.

  • Project Site Quick Links has 2 Project Details Links and no Recent Links

    Hi,
Project Sites when created has 2 Project Details Links and the Recent Links with the it's sublinks does not appear.   I have this problem on two PWA Instances and not on a 3rd.  Project Server 2013 with SP1 installed.  Does
    anyone know what cause this?
Of the 3 PWA instances the 2 that it occurs on are on different SP farms.  I have created a Mastersite template saved as a solution and added to the EPT.  The Master site has the correct links before I save it as a template

    Hi Andrew,
How did you create the site that you used as the template? Did it start out as a site already attached to a project? If so you should create a blank project site not attached to a project / create during the project create process. Part of the project create
/  site creation process adds properties associated to that project in the site's property bag etc. you don't want these properties causing issues for other project sites. See the steps below on creating an example custom project site template:
    http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2014/02/02/getting-started-with-projectonline-part-6-ps2013-office365-project-ppm-sharepointonline-pm-sp2013/
The first part of that post covers project plan templates but the project site templates start from the section beginning with "The site template is a bit more involved than the project plan template"

  • Unable to find top level site associated with project site

    Hello!
SP and PS 2013. I faced the problem with one project and its site synchronization.
When user published this project at 1st time, the site wasn’t created (there were some errors), but user didn’t notice that. So, after few days when he couldn’t open
the site, he ask me for help.
I did my usual operations in such cases – I open “Connected sites” and create the site myself.
Earlier there was not any problem with that. But now this project experiences some troubles with permissions sync for
it’s site – there is no synchronization.
I connected this problem with November CU, which has been installed couple of weeks ago.
I have read about the same problems after upgrade, so I want to emphasize that site was created on the root site collection (Project Web App) and it is not a subsite
    of another project site.
If there is no solution until next update, maybe there is some way to turn off permission synchronization only for this site?
    Any help will be appriciated!!!
    Kate

    Hi Kate_S,
since you are already aware that its a known issue caused Sep 2014 CU i believe, and an official fix has yet to release.
but i would like to clarify here that this issue doesn't have anything to do with project site creation, because sync queue job while creating project site fails but does not block other queues activities. so your project site should be created in a normal
    way.
and until official fix will arrive, 1 of the option is to change your project sites to provision under root site collection instead of PWA site collection. But be aware that this will fix sync issue only for new project sites.
Go to Central Administratio -> PWA settings -> open site provision settings menu and made changes.
2nd option is, since Project Owner always get access to Project site, to teach your project owners to include project team members manually to project site permission group to allow them to have access. this option can help you with both new and existing
project sites, and i personally prefer this and did the same for my affected customers.
Hope these 2 options will help you.
