WLST issue in weblogic 11g

Hi friends , I installed weblogic 11g on redhat enterprise linux (5) server.
I choosed jrocket 1.6.x as jdk version for my weblogic. I created domain as well.
The problem is when I am trying to run the Admin server using WLST tool, for this I ran %WL_HOME%\common\bin\wlst.sh file and I am able to see the environment settings before running the WLST script, after that it is showing "Initializing WLST scripting tool ...." and after that it is not at all moving further.
My hardware is pentium 5 and 2GB RAM and 150 hard drive.
I created domain as development.
Please suggest what went wrong.
Peter

Hi Peter,
We may get some more informations ... if we will try to run WLST manually...
Step1). (<BEA_BOME>/<WL_HOME/server/bin) Script is available Here (setWLSEnv.sh)
Open a command Prompt (Shell Prompt) and then move to the <BEA_BOME>/<WL_HOME/server/bin directory ant ehn run the following Script
. ./serWLSEnv.sh
NOTE: There are two Dots before the Script separated by a Single Space... First Dot represents that set the environment in the Current Shell....and Second Dot represents that pick the Script from current Directory
Step2). Now in the Same Shell Prompt....please run..
java weblogic.WLST
Please let us know... Is this also Hanging after showing the message "Initializing WLST scripting tool ...."
Thanks

    Are there compatibility issues with weblogic 11g and toplink 10.1.3.1?

    The older TopLink versions were not certified on the latest WebLogic releases. Oracle TopLink 11g (11.1.1.0.0) was certified on WebLogic 10.3.0 and 11gR1 (11.1.1.1.0) was included with WebLogic 10.1.3.1 as a system module. You may be experiencing a conflict between the included TopLink libraries and the older ones you built your application against. I would recommend rebuilding your application against the TopLink libraries shipped with WLS 10.3.1 and not including the older version.
    If this is not an option then you would need to use an application classpath filer to ensure the TopLink libraries in the system module of WLS 10.3.1 are not used.

  • Issue with Weblogic services in Linux OBIEE 11G

    Hello All,
    I have a OBI 11G set up on a linux OS.I am facing a issue with weblogic service.
    Whenever I am trying to start the Admin server from command line using its .sh , it is starting successfully.
    But whenever I am closing that Linux session or coming out of the Admin server log , this service is getting stopped on its own.
    OBI is working perfectly when that Linux session and Admin server log is intact, but as soon as i close either of them Admin server shut itself down.
    Please any help on this will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    I we encountered the same issue. We overcame it by installing OSR on a weblogic domain which didnt have SOA suite installed as SOA was causing a conflict. Not sure if your domain contains SOA but if it does then you should try and create another domain for OSR only.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weblogic 11g on windows server 2008 - run WLST

    how to configure weblogic 11g on windows server 2008 to run a simple WLST script
    I managed to get so far on Windows to run a WLST script. Most examples are in Unix
    I am in Dos, and ran our set environment variables.
    Run java weblogic.WLST
    To use WLST in interactive mode:java weblogic.WLST
    I get as far as wls:/offline> connect('weblogic','weblogic','localhost:7001')
    This works,
    So now I am trying to figure out how to display the server state of the server, most examples are for unix.
    Would any one have one that shows the server state, number of connections, and the number of active threads or stuck.
    Just a a pointer would help me.
    Cheers

  • Issue with Weblogic 12c(12.1.2)

    My service is working as expected in weblogic 11g.Now we are upgrading to weblogic 12c.
    We are facing an issue of "NullPointerException" , due to the values, not getting  populated during server startup from ra.xml.
    In weblogic 11g the control is not going to that location, which is leading to an exception in Web logic 12c(NPE).
    If we validate the null values, control is invoking twice, one with null values and another time with actual values from ra.xml.
    Please help me on the same.

    Hi Sai,
    it did  not solve my issue. I am getting SocketException.The post you were talking about is BindException.
    Please help me if you can do something on this.
    Some where i have seen like this
    Using IPv6-Formatted Addresses
    Platform: All
    When using an IPv6-formatted address for WebLogic Server, the URL should include square brackets ('[' and ']') for the host address. Otherwise, WLST may fail to connect to the running server.
    Workaround
    Add square brackets to the host address. For example:
    t3://[fe80:0:0:0:203:baff:fe2f:59e5]:9991.
    But i dont know in which file these hosts contains.

    Priya,
    Thank you so much for your response. I did test my database source from console and on the console it reported the test was successful, where in the admin logs has same exception logs. I did try creating a non XA connection and it did not have these errors. But my application did raise same exception while doing transaction.
    The application has around 250 EJB's that are written long ago and they all comply to EJB 1.1 spec. I am in the process of investigating the level of support for EJB 1.1 in Weblogic 11g.

    I am trying to upgrade from OC4J 10.1.2 to Weblogic 11g (10.3.5).
    I used the smartupgrade tool and it has highlighted some required modifications before upgrading.
    For example:
    <snip>
    Rule: Oracle Private Dependencies
    Category: api
    Priority: required
    Complexity: high
    Reason: xxx.admin.ejb.AdminCtrl.jar contains the following unsupported Oracle dependencies:
    AdminCtrlBean.class on [oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser (orasaaj.jar), oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException (orasaaj.jar), oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument (orasaaj.jar)]
    Advice: To ensure the proper functioning of deployed applications, features that depend upon the identified API need to discontinue using the identified unpublished Oracle API.

    I want to follow the 'Advice', but I'm not sure what the best method is for correcting this issue.
    Should I move away from the xmlparserv2.jar for xml processing?
    If yes, what is the recommended replacement for xmlparserv2.jar in Weblogic 11g?
    Any help, guidance or pointers are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    When migrating to weblogic from oc4j, you should discontinue use of the Oracle xml parser. Use the standard java sdk parser.
    This code snip:
    StringReader sr = new StringReader(xmlString.toString());
    DOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
    parser.parse(sr);
    Document doc = parser.getDocument();
    Is converted to this code snip:
         DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    StringReader sr = new StringReader(Sparameters);
    InputSource is = new InputSource(sr);
    Document doc = db.parse(is);
    I found this information in this documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs103/xml/programming.html#wp1069856
    I hope this is helpful to someone.

  • Oracle Portal returns 500 error running under Weblogic 11g server

    I've got Oracle Portal set up under Weblogic 11g.
    SSO running, talking to OID 11g, also running under the same Weblogic 11g server. Tested SSO, it is working well.
    After the install (no errors or issue on install), I go to http://<server>:8090/portal/pls/portal and geta Error 500 - Internal Server Error.
    I traced down the problem to OHS - in ohs1.log:
    [2009-08-04T10:09:15.0512-05:00] [OHS] [ERROR:32] [OHS-9999] [odl_log.c] [host_id: <server>] [host_addr: 127.0.0.1] [tid: 1320139072] [user: oracle] [ecid: 004S594zs25Fw000jzwkno0002740001NK] [rid: 0] [VirtualHost: main] Request Failed for : /portal/pls/portal, Resp Code : [500]

    So the problem is favicon.ico is missing, which I confirmed. Does this mean a bad deployment of an .EAR file? What should I do?

    Hi,
    This forum is for issues migrating from non-Oracle databases to Oracle.
    It would be better to ask this question in one of the Weblogic servers but as there are several Weblogic forums but it may be better to try this one first -

  • Develop in JDev 10.1.3.5, test and deploy to Oracle Weblogic 11g

    Hi,
    I have run into some important issues when trying to migrate my Jdev 10.1.3.5 applications to JDev 11g for deployment to the latest Oracle Weblogic Application server version, see threads:
    Thread: migration problems ADF/ Struts 10.1.3 -> 11.1.1.3
    migration problems ADF/ Struts 10.1.3 -> 11.1.1.3
    Thread: ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3
    Re: ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3
    - so using JDev 10.1.3.5 with deployment to Oracle Weblogic 11g is a must for us.
    Questions:
    1) Is there a way to use Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 for debugging inside JDev 10.1.3.5?
    2) Can I develop with JDev 10.1.3.5 + JDK 1.5 and create an ear to deploy to Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 Application server with JDK 1.6 64bits?
    3) Which version of ADF should I install on Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 to run my 10.1.3.5 application?
    Your help will be appreciated
    Fred

    Is there a way to use Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 for debugging inside JDev 10.1.3.5?While you can't replace the embedded OC4J - you can use an external WLS server and do remote debugging on it. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/remotedebugwls-086628.html
    From inside JDeveloper you can also deploy directly to the WLS server.
    Can I develop with JDev 10.1.3.5 + JDK 1.5 and create an ear to deploy to Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 Application server with JDK 1.6 64bits?Yes you can. Note that so far we haven't officially certified ADF 10.1.3 on WLS 10.3 - but from various customers and testings we think it works ok. We might certify this combination in the future.
    Follow these steps to get the deployment working:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/deployingwls-091640.html
    Which version of ADF should I install on Oracle WEBLOGIC 10.3 to run my 10.1.3.5 application?You always install the version of ADF that matches the one your application was developed and compiled with.

    And this is it.
    I am able to connetct from JRMC. After removing -Xmanagement all is working.

    Can you please take a thread dump and copy paste the stack trace for the Thread called "main" thread.
    Please take atleast 3 thread dumps with an interval of 10 seconds and paste the "main" thread stack trace from all the 3 thread dumps.
    After analyzing the stack trace we might be able to determine where it is hanging and thus giving us a clue where the issue could be.

  • "Invalid Java Home" when installing Oracle Weblogic 11g (10.3.1)

    Hi folks,
    I'm trying to install Oracle's Weblogic 11g (10.3.1)
    (http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls/wls1031_generic.jar)
    The installer starts, but does not detect the JDK home (which I expected). It does however let you browse the file system to select a home. I've tried selecting the following:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
    but I get an "Invalid Java Home" error.
    According to the documentation, Weblogic should run on a 1.6 JDK.
    I notice that there are a few other Java related issues on these forums. Does anybody have any clues?
    It sounds like the Apple JDK needs patching to make it usable by some Java apps. Bring on the 10.6 Java patch!

    Just letting everyone know that the answer can be found here:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/emorales/2009/06/weblogicover_mac_osx.html
    It seems that we have to "dummy up" a jre/lib directory to fool the Weblogic JDK detection check.

  • Migrating from Non-XA driver type to XA Driver in Weblogic 11g

    I have two data sources created in weblogic 11g which were configured in following manner and we are using this configuration since our application started supporting weblogic as application server that's Weblogic 9i.
    Database A: Participates in Global Transaction
    Driver Type: Oracle Thin Driver non-XA
    Support Global Transaction option is disabled for this data source.
    Database B: Participates in Global Transaction
    Driver Type: Oracle Thin Driver non-XA
    Support Global Transaction option is enabled for this data source with One Phase Commit enabled.
    If we use this configuration our application run just fine without any issues.
    Now we have a requirement of adding another data source which participates in global transactions.When I create this data source with following settings,
    Driver Type: Oracle Thin Driver non-XA
    Support Global Transaction option is enabled for this data source with One Phase Commit enabled.
    This results in error (which was expected) "
    "*SQL ERROR: Connection has already been created in this tx context for pool named CMDEMO. Illegal attempt to create connection from another pool: EXPDB*"
    and even when I enable "Support Global Transaction" option with LLR or Emulate Two phase Commit option this results is error,
    "*Database Error: Unexpected exception in Non XA Resource enlistment. Resource=JDBC LLR, pool=EXPDB, table=WL_LLR_ADMINSERVER Cannot enlist more*
    than one Non XA Resource. Attempt to enlist 'WL_JDBC_LLR_POOL.EXPDB' when 'WL_JDBC_LLR_POOL.CMDEMO' is already enlisted."
    Now we are planning to move to "Oracle Thin Driver XA" driver type for all the three data sources.I tested this config. and all global transaction are getting executed perfectly.
    But before we adopt this change,I just wanted to check what all are the limitations of using XA driver or any potential issues that needs to be tested. I explored about this and came to know that XA comes with performance overhead ,frequent database locking with SQL Server driver, and some conflicts with multibyte character sets etc.
    Can someone please provide some input on how to tread ahead and what all things needs to tested.

    How are you using these connection pools in your application?
    Do you have different EJB's, which have the default transaction attribute configured (@TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)),
    and are calling each other?
    If one EJB is using connection pool A and the other is using connection pool B, you get in trouble because the transaction is already
    started by EJBone and is propagated to EJBother. In this case you can use @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW).
    Now a new transaction is started for EJBother.
    Some information about XA
    The primary difference is that data sources that support global transactions are JTA transaction-aware.
    Realize that JTA transactions do not necessarily mean XA transactions and two-phase commits (2PC). JTA
    transactions also allow two independently written components that modify the same database to participate
    in a transaction without having to know about each other. Non-XA database transactions require the
    use of a single database connection to provide the proper transactional semantics. If you choose not to
    use the Supports Global Transactions option, you need to write your application components in such
    a way that they get a database connection from the pool at the start of every transaction and pass that
    connection around to every component that participates in the transaction. This is clearly not desirable
    and not even possible with certain types of components (for example, JPA managed entities).
    A data source that supports global transactions will make sure that your components participating in a
    JTA transaction get the proper transactional semantics whether or not they are using XA transactions.
    When not using XA transactions, the data source accomplishes this by associating a database connection
    with a JTA transaction context. Every time a component asks for a database connection using the data
    source that supports global transactions, WebLogic Server will check to see if the current transaction
    already has a database connection, and if so, it will always hand back the same underlying database connection.
    This allows non-XA transactions to maintain the proper database semantic guarantees without
    having to worry about what database connection to use and what the transactional boundaries are for
    the application.
