WLST - updated on dev2dev

Hello there,
I have posted a newer version of WLST on dev2dev at,
http://dev2dev.bea.com/codelibrary/code/wlst.jsp
Please download this newer version to replace the old. Several
improvements and bug fixes are made.
Thanks and as always your feedback is appreciated.
-satya
P.S. To check if you are using the right wlst version, after you invoke
wlst,
print wlstVersion
'WLST-Beta v4, August 2004'

Thanks Satya, for the good work and being responsive to the community.

    the dev2dev site is no longer available. However you may find the type of script you are looking by searching the web.
    there are also some basic wlst samples in oracle documentation.

  • Integrated WebLogic Server won't start

    Hi,
    Hope someone can help asap, as I am about to tear my hair out :-) Hopefully it's something straight forward and just can't see it from staring at it for too long!!
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Same happens, with or without the WebCenter Extensions installed via Check for Updates.
    Steps:
    Downloaded WC Portal 11.1.1.5.0 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/downloads/index.html
    Confirmed the user I log into Windows as - Admin, is part of the Administrators group.
    Confirmed no CLASSPATH variable set
    Installed, specifying MW_HOME as C:\Oracle\Middleware
    Set ide.user.dir = C:/OraJDevUserFiles in C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev.boot to avoid any Win directory spacing issues
    Confirmed Administrators group has full control over both directories: MW_HOME and C:/OraJDevUserFiles
    Run C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdeveloper.exe
    Run --> Start Server Instance (IntegratedWebLogicServer) (no need to even go as far as creating an application)
    Message in log pane is as follows:
    [Waiting for the domain to finish building...]
    [05:44:01 PM] Creating Integrated Weblogic domain...
    [05:44:42 PM] ERROR: An error occurred while building the default domain.
    Please see this log file for more details:
    C:\OraJDevUserFiles\system11.1.1.5.37.60.13\o.j2ee.adrs\CreateDefaultDomain.log
    The Server Instance cannot be started because the Integrated Weblogic domain was not built successfully.
    Click the link for C:\OraJDevUserFiles\system11.1.1.5.37.60.13\o.j2ee.adrs\CreateDefaultDomain.log to open in JDeveloper and shows as follows:

    1). Odd thing is C:\OraJDevUserFiles\system11.1.1.5.37.60.13 doesn't exist if I go to Windows Explorer, although JDeveloper suggests it is. If I do File-Save As from JDev for the log file, I can navigate through the system directory it thinks exists! If I try and save the log file somewhere that does exist, e.g. C drive, it doesn't appear there in Windows Explorer!
    2). What's causing the domain creation to fail in WL??
    I get different results if I run JDev from here: C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev.exe
    C:\OraJDevUserFiles\system11.1.1.5.37.60.13 is immediately created once launched
    If I run the Integrated WebLogic Server, the domain is created correctly and everything apears within C:\OraJDevUserFiles\system11.1.1.5.37.60.13
    If I then try and run the Integrated WebLogic Server via C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdeveloper.exe again (now that the domain has been created the other way!), I then get different errors in the JDev log:

    Any ideas please??

    I had already uninstalled/deleted folders several times but no difference.
    Oddly, to add into the mix....it didn't work, then uninstalled/cleaned-up/installed and then worked...I restarted machine and it no longer worked and back to square one?!?! uninstalled/cleaned-up/installed couple more times since but always the same issue, as described in original post. Very odd!
    No difference whether a project has been created or not - thought I'd just make it simple with description, as this doesn't seem to affect outcome...
    Thanks for responses so far. Any other ideas much appreciated!

  • An error occurred while building the default domain

    Hi Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I hope someone here can help......
    Hi,
    I have just installed Oracle JDeveloper 11g R1 (Build 5407) (Oracle JDeveloper Studio Edition for Windows (934 MB) ) on my windows laptop. When the product opens it tries to start a intergrated weblogic domain:
    [04:44:34 PM] Extending Integrated Weblogic domain...
    [04:45:27 PM] ERROR: An error occurred while building the default domain.
    Please see this log file for more details:
    I don't even know where to start investigating the cause of this problem so any pointers or help would be appreciated!!
    In case it is of any help the log file looks like this:

    Hi,
    Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

    Hi,
    This might be caused by a conflict with something already in your CLASSPATH. I would suggest the following:
    1. Shut down JDeveloper if it is already running. Delete the default domain directory:
    rd /s "C:\Documents and Settings\richard anthony\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07\DefaultDomain"
    2. From a command prompt, clear your CLASSPATH:
    set CLASSPATH=
    3. Start JDeveloper using the same command prompt as step 2:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev
    If the problem was with the pre-existing CLASSPATH, the default domain should now build successfully.

  • Creating New Domains WL 8.1 SP2

    Is it possible to create a new domain using the MBeans in a similar fashion to the WLSERVER Ant task??
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    It is possible using Jython and WLST to make a WLServer.
    You can get Jython from
         http://www.jython.org/download.html
    And you can download WLST from
         http://dev2dev.bea.com/codelibrary/code/wlst.jsp
    Can configure all this.. like this.
    ////// SETTING START ////////////////////
    set BEA_WL_HOME=D:\bea
    set WL_HOME=D:\bea\weblogic81
    set JYTHON_HOME=D:\jython-2.1
    set WLST_HOME=D:\WLST
    set DOMAIN_HOME=D:\bea\user_projects\domains\smartIntegration
    call "%DOMAIN_HOME%\setDomainEnv.cmd" %*
    @REM Start PointBase
    call "%WL_HOME%\common\bin\startPointBase.cmd" -port=9093 -debug=0
    -console=false -background=true -ini=%DOMAIN_HOME%\pointbase.ini >
    "%DOMAIN_HOME%\pointbase.log" 2>&1
    set
    CLASSPATH=%JYTHON_HOME%\jython.jar;%WLST_HOME%\wlst.jar;%JUNIT_HOME%\junit.jar;%CLASSPATH%;
    @echo.
    @echo CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%
    @echo.
    @echo PATH=%PATH%
    @echo.
    @echo Your WLST environment has been set.
    java weblogic.WLST
    ////// SETTING END ////////////////////
    After the WLST starts you need to issue this commanad ...
    startServer('smartServer', 'smartIntegration', 't3://localhost:2222',
    'weblogic', 'administrator')
    It will create a new Server and also Starts the server.

  • Program to consume the JMS queue

    Hi, I' m new to WebLogic stuff. Got a question over here. There's a JMS queue that we want to have a program (not those built in stuff from weblogic) to see if they re consumed. Similar stuff would be displayed like
              <b>ABCD Queue consumers: 1 / consumers high: 0 ...messages: 10 / messages received: 19........</b>
              as if we get into the console page to check the JMS queues.
              I've got no clues yet. We don't wanna check the number of files from C:\Original and the destination folder C:\Destin......if so, it'd be an easy task but that s not what we wanted....

    As with any WebLogic subsystem, you can get all statistics programmatically using standard JMX mbeans (see the JMX developer guide). The console uses these beans, as does the WLST scripting language. In addition, there are helper methods in the public weblogic.jms.extensions package that simplify access to these beans.
              I think there are various mbean and WLST samples on dev2dev, including one called "JMSStats.java". Note that JMSStats.java, and some other samples were written for versions 8.1 and earlier. They use deprecated methods that don't have access to all runtime statistics for 9.0 and later versions.

  • Where on earth can I get the latest WLST since dev2dev moved for weblogic 8

    This is driving me crazy.
    I did manage to download a version of WLST as part of wli_util.jar.
    However, when I try to view my custom mbeans I get a null pointer. On another forum I found someone ask the question whats causing it and the answer was its fixed in the subsequent WLST release. But I cant find the download page for this utility anywhere. Anything I find on the web points to the old dev2dev site.
    All I want to do is view my custom mbeans. Have been spending far too much time on a task which should only take half a day. I have a solution in JBoss but we deploy to weblogic in the live environment.
    There is plenty of help/howto pages for WLST, but no place have I seen a link to a download page for this.
    I understand its packaged with Weblogic 9, but that 8.1 didnt have it and Im stuck with 8.1 running on a 1.4 JVM.
    Lastely, I did try to create this in the weblogic.interest.management forum, but clicking on the new Topic button produced an error message saying I dont have permissions to "read" this topic, which to me makes no sense since I was just viewing/searching in there for the answer.
    Couldsome nice person post the link?
    Regards
    Tim

    If you have the old uri - you can access it from the WayBackMachine on archive.org.
    you might want to open a case with customer support about missing content from dev2dev.
    If you're brave enough to post your email address, you might get someone to email it to you.
    You could also download/install/extract it from WLS 9.
    Or ask customer support to send it to you.

  • Update deployment plan definition with WLST

    Hello,
    I would like to write a script in order to get the existing deployemnt plan of my deployed application (Deployement plan is yet modified, I don't want to use loadApplication). Then I would to update my deployement plan (update/add work manager constraints).
    I can't find any WLST api to do that. The Weblogic console doesn't record the actions when I do it through the console.
    I would like top the the same as this link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/config_scripting/updateplan.html
    But with a deploymenPlan got from the server and not from the filesystem
    The only way I see is to use a Java parser un Jython to update the existing deployemnt plan and then, redeploy the application but This solution is very heavy in term of developpment. It should be more efficient when a built in parser
    Could you please help me giving me some information about how to update deployement plans of a yet deployed application with WLST ?
    Thank you !
    C.

    Thank you for answering.
    In fact, I have found the solution for my use case according to the previous html link
    The WLST plan seems to be accessible only by file system.
    If your application is yet deployed with a deployment plan and you want to update this plan, you have to login on the admin server via WLST,get the application absolute path and the plan absoluth path :
    cd ("AppDeployments/" + INTERNAL_APP_NAME)
    appPath  = cmo.getAbsoluteSourcePath()
    planPath = cmo.getAbsolutePlanPath()and then, load the existing plan :
    plan = loadApplication(appPath, planPath)after that, you can use the api described at the following link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/config_scripting/updateplan.html to update the plan.
    Then, you have to redeploy the application :
    redeploy(APP_NAME)Thank you for helping !

  • How to update references into ALSB using WLST

    Hi all,
    the import phase is ok and now I'm trying to update references of imported resources.
    - for Refs.BUSINESS_SERVICE_TYPE no problem: I'm able to update a business service reference within a cloned proxy referencing the imported business service
    - for Refs.XMLSCHEMA_TYPE the same is harder ... I can update the schema reference within a cloned proxy with the imported schema but if the element of the imported schema is different I got an error:
    I've a cloned proxy P that references
    Validate ... against [ dummyProviderEvent-Provider1 ] ( Element = "dummyProviderEvent" )
    References to be updated:
    - from dummyProviderEvent-Provider1 to TestProviderEvent-Provider1
    - from Element = "dummyProviderEvent" to a new one
    Error:
    [java] [Critical] Resources with validation errors
    [java] 1 - ProxyService EventBus-DummyEvent/providers/Provider2/DummyEvent-Provider2-SingleXMLFileProvider CannotCommit
    [java] + CannotCommit [ProviderEvent-ProviderName-SingleXMLFileProviderPipeline, Request Pipeline, Prepare, Validate action] Type {http://provider1}dummyProviderEvent does not exist /xml-fragment/router
    I would like to avoid to:
    i) export the proxy
    ii) manipulate the exported xml changing directly the reference (if tomorrow xml changes in a new version of ALSB ...)
    iii) import the proxy
    Is it possible to do it using ALSBConfigurationMBean.mapReferences instead of export/import choice?
    Another question. Is it possible to change also pipeline/stage names or enabling/disabling proxy/bus services via WLST ?
    Thanks
    ferp

    Hi,
    Updating the Business grpahics(BG) depends upon how your populating the context associated with BG.
    For my knowledge there is no way we can show graphical chart directly from an URL.
    So read the data from the URL and store it a file or database and then populate the context associated with BG.
    Before populating just invalidate the context so that it will load the context again with out any duplicate data.

  • Updating XQuery with WLST

    Hi,
    I'm new to Weblogic. Need a little help with this.
    I have two separate applications : 1 which does the dynamic invocation callout (application A) and the other serving as the xquery repository (application B).Application A does a dynamic transformation using a uri pointing to a xq file on application B, Application A seems to cache the xq file. If I update the xq file on application B, the only way Application A will pick up the changes is to redeploy application A (i.e. crudely flush it's cache). Is there any way I can update the XQuery file using WLST?
    Thanx

    As I am not able to use IF-ELSE in Oracle for select statementsHow about a CASE statement?
    If each query is always meant to return a single aggregated column (and of course only one row), then you can use this :
    SELECT CASE WHEN param_1 IN ('VAL1', 'VAL2')
                 THEN (
                   SELECT ...
                   FROM emptable, XMLTable( ... )
                WHEN param_1 IN ('VAL3', 'VAL4')
                 THEN (
                   SELECT ...
                   FROM addresstable, XMLTable( ... )
            END AS Orders
    FROM dual;If you prefer the UNION approach, then :
    Here, if the Param.1 is "NAME" then the outcomes as <Rowset></Rowset> + Output of other query (which only thing I want)That's because of the XMLAgg aggregate function.
    An aggregate function without GROUP BY always returns one row, even though there's no row in the original result set.
    SQL> SELECT XMLElement("Rowset", XMLAgg(rw.column_value))
      2  FROM emptable ul
      3     , XMLTable('/Rowsets/Rowset/Row' passing ul.text) as rw
      4  WHERE 1 = 0
      5  ;
    XMLELEMENT("ROWSET",XMLAGG(RW.
    <Rowset></Rowset>
    You can group by an empty list of column to force the required behaviour :
    SQL> SELECT XMLElement("Rowset", XMLAgg(rw.column_value))
      2  FROM emptable ul
      3     , XMLTable('/Rowsets/Rowset/Row' passing ul.text) as rw
      4  WHERE 1 = 0
      5  GROUP BY ()
      6  ;
    XMLELEMENT("ROWSET",XMLAGG(RW.
    You should also use UNION ALL instead of UNION so that Oracle doesn't bother performing any unneeded sort operation.
    What is the purpose of RTRIM in your examples? I don't see any reason to call it over an XMLType instance, furthermore it performs an implicit datatype conversion to VARCHAR2 which can potentially cause errors.
    If you need to serialize the resulting XMLType column then use the appropriate methods getStringVal(), getClobVal() or XMLSerialize function (11g).

  • Update the already existing credential store in em using wlst command

    Hi,
    In Oracle Business intelligence in the em in domain-> security->credentials i want to update an already existing credential store with map and key values
    map=oracle.bi.system
    key =system.user.
    So when i connect to the wlst command console in MW_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin/wlst.sh
    and connect to the server and execute the command
    updateCred(map='oracle.bi.system', key='system.user',user='BISystemUser',password='welcome1') i get the error already in the Domain runtime tree.
    I tried
    import jpsWlstCmd
    jpsWlstCmd.updateCred(map='oracle.bi.system', key='system.user',user='BISystemUser',password='welcome1') but still i get the same error.
    Can anyone help me modifying the credentials using a script.

    After extending my domain with JRF and JRF WebService Asynchronous services, I was able to execute "createCred" and "listCred" and so on.

  • Updating defaultTimeout in adf-config.xml through WLST

    Hello,
    I hope i have this in the right area. I'm cross posting because I think I put it in the wrong place originally. If I get an answer, I'll cross link the two.
    I'm trying to change the default, min and maximum timeouts for portlets that come from our WSRP portlet producing application. The documentation I found on the time outs says to edit adf-config.xml 1 and when editing the adf-config.xml do that via WLST ^2^.
    1) portlet time out: [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10108/webcenter.htm#BABIGHDC|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10108/webcenter.htm#BABIGHDC]
    <adf-portlet-config>
    <defaultTimeout>5</defaultTimeout>
    <minimumTimeout>2</minimumTimeout>
    <maximumTimeout>100</maximumTimeout>
    <adf-portlet-config>
    2) editing adf-config.xml: [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#WCADM5019|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#WCADM5019]
    I can not find the MBean in the bean browser that seems to hold this setting.
    There is a bit of a conflicting message in the docs though. "If you must modify these properties, post deployment, you must edit adf-config.xml manually." But the doc that describes editing adf-config.xml says that using WLST are
    So... Questions:
    1) Are these three elements (defaultTimeout, minimumTimeout, and maximumTimeout) some exception to being set from WLST?
    2) If not, what is the MBean I should find this setting in?
    Thank you very much,
    Marc
    Edited by: MarcDavenport on Jun 26, 2012 12:37 PM

    Marc,
    This is just a guess(have'nt done this), but I think the settings are not an exception, and you should be able to find the MBean here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_intro.htm#BHCCJJED
    This section of the doc seems to walk through an example setting properties in adf-config.xml
    I would interpret those instructions in the official doc to mean :
    1. If you don't mind changing this at deploy time and re-deploying(like we do when we're in deep development), you can change this and redeploy.
    2. If you have a deployed application, you can make changes through WLST. But keep in mind that the changes you make through WLST will not be overwritten later when you change the adf-config in Jdev and redeploy.
    (This lets you fine tune the timeouts for specific environments. ex: bigger timeouts for dev envs hosted with smaller resources/unstable un-optimized code, rather than guess a timeout that works for all environments )
    Now comes the conflicting parts :
    "If you must modify these properties, post deployment, you must edit adf-config.xml manually."
    I think,they mean "manually using WLST". This can probabaly be done with both WLST commands and the MBeans.
    Now once you make these changes to a deployed application, the changes you made are stored in MDS. This means that this "tuning" will survive a re-deployment.
    So if we :
    set the timeout to 1 minute initially at design time,
    then change that to 5 minutes through WLST,
    and then edit adf-config again in Jdev to a 10 minute value and redeploy,
    the MDS still has the 5 minute value, and it will overwrite the 10 minute value we set later at design time and redeployed.
    MDS documents are always applied on top of the deployed stuff.
    The doc you refered to : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#CHDGEDGJ
    does make a good explanation of how the changes persisted in MDS affects the final configuration.
    Hop that helps !
