WMI Packet Privacy - What type of encryption?

Hi,
I would like to know what type of encryption standard is used when Packet Privacy is enabled when performing WMI queries.
Packet Privacy will encrypt the data retrieved from the query as opposed to the data being in clear text format when Packet Privacy is not used.
Thanks

Hi,
The most secure level (RPC Packet Privacy) encrypts parameter state for every remote procedure call (and therefore every DCOM method invocation). The level of RPC encryption, 40-bit or 128-bit, depends on the version of the Windows operating system that
is running on the client and server computers

  • What type of encryption is using in Oracle Application (EBS)?

    Dear all,
I am using oracle application version 11.5.8 and the oracle database version is
9.2.0.4. When I am login the oracle application, what type of encryption is?
    How can I know?
    Best Regards,

    As standard? None.
Are you talking about password encryption in 11.5.8 ? It's a reversible encryption algorithm.
Are you talking about the network layer? Only if you've setup to run https mode.

  • What type of encryption is firefox using for password protection and how trustworthy is it

I would like to know what kind of encryption FF uses and how I know I can trust it? This is not a bone of contention with FF, I love the product, rather it is just a concern I have that will convince me to let FF manage my financial passwords. Thanks for any assistance with understanding this issue more completely.

The degree of protection very much depends on how strong your master password is.
When using a master password, the data is encrypted using [http://www.tropsoft.com/strongenc/des3.html Triple DES Encryption in CBC mode]. This level of encryption is good for general purpose use. The weak point it the master password, if you have a weak master password there are programs available that will be able to crack the master password, they often do this by using a brute force method. If you use a strong master password, the brute force method will need a very long time to crack passwords. For details on password strength and creating strong passwords see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Password_strength and http://luxsci.com/blog/security-simplified-the-basesuffix-method-for-memorable-strong-passwords.html

  • What type of encryption should I use?

I'm sorry for asking such a beginner question...but I'm a bit puzzled here.
I am writing a program that needs to keep a gigantic (2 million +) database of videos. Ordinarily that would not be very difficult, but I have to also make sure that those videos never fall into the wrong hands. My idea is to take the video files themselves and shuffle the internal data around in such a way that no ordinary video player will be able to recognize the format. I don't mean just change the header stuff, I mean shuffle the bytes around. I would then make a custom player that unscrambles the video and then plays it.
Unfortunately, I think that somebody with the proper know-how would be able to break this scheme rather quickly. So what I want to do is encrypt the entire file into something completely unintelligible. This means I need an encryption scheme that can take in any arbitrary size of file, and spit out a file that contains all the same information, but encrypted.
From the little bit of research that I have done, AES seems to fit my needs, but is there something better? Are there other options that would fit my needs just as well?
    Thanks in advance

You're asking how to use encryption to implement a DRM scheme. If you google on DRM+encryption, you'll see how difficult this is.

Oracle Applications uses it's own encryption for username passwords in
    FND_ORACLE_USERID and FND_USER
There might be some information in the 11i SysAdmin documentation
but Oracle doesn't provide a procedure to decrypt the passwords !
(one thing I know is that the APPS database account password is used to as a seed when encrypting other passwords).
You could check the 11i documentation or raise this query in the 11i forums.
The Oracle Database itself doesn't use encryption for passwords but a
    one-way hash.

what type of encryption is on the iphone?

Every iOS device has a dedicated AES 256-bit crypto engine built in that is used to encrypt all data on the device at all times. In addition, the iOS Cryptographic Modules have been granted FIPS 140-2 compliance by the U.S. federal government on devices running iOS 6.

  • What were the encryption supports in older versions of Acrobat?

For some possible product planning we are trying to ascertain what support for what types of encryption was in what older Acrobat and Acrobat reader versions going back to the '93 inception if possible.    Any help is appreciated.

Check out Table 3 Encryption algorithm by security type and product version in the Acrobat Security Administration Guide to track down this information:

It sure is. Be careful, though; large images could be split up into several consecutive CDATA parts.
I wrote a Javascript to do the same, but it's extremely slow. A plain C version (I did not even use the '++' part) does the job in less than the blink of an eye.

  • What type of hard disk should I use if I want to use it on mac and windows?

    Hey Forum,
I am using windows xp on my macbook (snow leopard). I came across some dealers who say that there are hard disks for mac only and for both mac and windows. So, I wanted to buy a hard disk so that I can use it both on mac and windows xp, so what type of hard disk should I use? Must I partition into 2?
or are there any harddisk in the market which is compatible for both mac and windows xp without screwing up the format(NTFS/Mac OS X Journaled)? Pls look into this matter and help me with it.
All of your replies and suggestions is much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Run, don't walk, from that dealer! and never look back
Once in a very long while Apple will have customized firmware on drives, and it is possible to find SCSI/SAS or drives that are destined to be used with high end storage controllers.
But that is the exception that makes the rule.
SATA is SATA. Though.... there are now SATA III drives that don't work in XP, or that need a jumper, and Seagate and some drives have managed to deliver firmware that has caused trouble... and Apple has had to issue firmware updates to help compatibility....

I agree with snipe. Who knows when the drivers for x64 will be available. It will be available one day but probably not in next few months.

In the early days of digital video editing, an export render could take hours!  Not many applications are as hard on system resources as video editing, and rendering the final edit is probably the most system intense action of all.
Head on over to the Premiere Pro Hardware forum to see what sort of computer hardware the pros use for NLE (non linear editing), or to the PPBM5 site for a better look.

what type of wireless router is the 1st generation time capsule? Is it B, G or N? I'm trying to establish whether its causing signal degradation as a result of conflicts with my BT Home Hub router.

The 1st generation Time Capsule is an 802.11"n" wireless router, but in default settings it produces a signal that is also compatible with "g" and "b" wireless devices.
If your HomeHub is in close proximity to the Time Capsule and it is also producing a wireless network, either the wireless on the HomeHub or the TIme Capsule should be be disabled to minimize the chances of wireless interference.
Interference may also be coming from any cordless phones you may have, or another nearby wireless network as well.

What type of adapter/ converter would I purchase from Apple if traveling to France? Does Apple even offer one?

The power supplies used by Apple can be used with any line voltage between 100 and 240 volts so you done need any changes there.
What you will need is pin adapters because the European socket require different shaped pins. You can get the pins adapters at any hardware store quite inexpensively.

    Hi Sreedhar,
What you've mentioned is exactly the task of CRM Middleware, which sits on the CRM server and governs the data flow.
By any chance are you trying to find out about DOE(Data Orchestration Engine) used by SAP NetWeaver Mobile ?
maybe this link would help then:

  • Need a query to  determine what type of access an account have in ERP

Need a code to check what type of access an account (username) and its responsibilities have in ERP - Is it Inquiry only or it have update access and/or ability to run concurrent jobs.
    It means
A column (Has Update Capabilities?) should be placed in a report where there are different columns containing Form Name etc.
    It should display like below
Update Capabilities --> Put Yes in this field
No Update Capabilities --> Put No in this field
Job Scheduling Capabilities --> Put 'Yes - Job Scheduling'
    Thanks in Advance.

    What I mean is,
Where can I know the update capabilities for a Form or a function
I was asked by my manager to make a report to input the UserName so that the output displays the UserNmae and its associated Responsibilities and the Menu prompts registered with the responsibility(Tree Structure) and the User Form Name and User Function Name and the Update Capabilities.
For the Update Capabilities I have to display 'Yes' if the form/function has update capabilities or not.
And have to check whether it has Job Scheduling Capabilities or not.
For this (Update Capabilities), which tables I have to refer?
    Thanks.
