Won't play some songs on ipod but will in itunes

This is concerning an ipod w/color (4th generation I guess)............
All of a sudden, some of the songs won't play on the iPod but they will play when I connect the iPod to itunes and the song list comes up. When I try to play the same song just on the ipod itself it skips down to the next song.
Any ideas?

i got the same problem, happened with "Now its on" and currently with "My Wife, My *****, My Girl", both by Tech N9NE. i ended up just getting now its on from limewire. i think the song for download might be faulty becuase i even deleted the song from my computer and bought it again, but to no avail. as well, i took the song off my ipod and put it on again, which also didn't work. I suggest just finding it on the internet in some other way

How do I fix it when an album won't play on my ipod but eill in itunes?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Keep songs on ipod but erase in itunes with syncing

I was wondering if anyone know how to sync the whole itunes library to the ipod video but exclude certain songs/videos from syncing. I don't have enough space on my harddrive to keep all of the videos but I would still like to keep them on my ipod. I don't want to use the ipod as external harddrive and keep them there because i would still like to watch/listen to the songs/videos i don't keep in itunes.
      Windows XP

I understand that but I want to do the opposite. My ipod has enough space, my harddrive on the computer doesn't. I want to keep them on the ipod, but not in itunes. How do I keep all of my videos on the ipod (while still being able to play them), but not on my computer in itunes? I still want the rest of the library synced.

  • Videos won't play in my admin account but will in the user account?

why won't some videos play in my admin account but will in the user account using Safari or FireFox?
I have a mid-year 2012 MBP w/Mt Lion OS X10.8.2, I believe all s/w is current. Have deleted cache, reset safari and just about everything I can find in the blogs.

After looking at another post (How do I remove a filetype from the Applictions Menu), I succeeded in removing m3u from my Application's Content Type in my user-account but it did not solve my problem. I still get a "What should Firefox do with this file?" dialog.

  • My ipod 5th Gen won't play some songs

5th gen. nano won't play songs that play perfectly fine in itunes library, help?
i have a new 5th generation nano and the most recent version of itunes. i just downloaded a bunch of songs that play fine in my itunes library but when i try to listen to them on my ipod, it immediately skips to another song. only a few of the songs that i synched actually play. i have tried deleting them from my ipod and my itunes library and then adding them back to the library and resynching but i am still having this problem. can anyone tell me what is wrong and what i can do to fix this? thanks for the help.

Check what format they're in and try converting them to AAC (you can do this by right clicking the song that isn't working & selecting create AAC version). I just started having this problem with MP3s that were playing just fine a couple of hours ago, so i converted them to AAC and now they work just fine. Hope this helps you.

  • Songs in Ipod but not in itunes library. no option to back up so i can restore. Will someone please help me?

Ok, see, i was dowloading some songs off of http://www.youtube-mp3.org. I dragged the songs into my itunes library, but when i looked, they weren't in there. so i looked at my ipod and the songs i downloaded were on it! i dont know how either! i tried to back up my downloaded songs so i could restore it to see if that would help, but there wasn't an option for me to back up my ipod when i right clicked on it. i looked atsome of the other forums about the "AppData" solution. it said to delete the corrupted file if there was one, but i dont know what to look for. can someone please help me? this is driving me crazy.

  • Wmvs won't play in Keynote on iPad, but WILL PLAY in keynote pres embedded in iBook on iPad?!!

I have some PPT presentations I want to present from an iPad; they contain embedded video files (WMVs). I open them in Keynote on my iMac, and save them as Keynote presentations. The videos work fine on my computer. However, when I import a presentation onto my iPad, the videos won't play in Keynote. The rest of the presentation works great; just no video playback.
This wouldn't be weird except for the fact that in iBooks author, I will insert a Keynote presentation into a page of a book I made. When I play the presentation on my iPad, in iBooks, the videos work perfectly. Can anyone explain this?
The issue is that because I have an iPad 1, I have to use a VGA connector to present, meaning the Keynote-in-iBook does me no good. Projectors will only display an actual Keynote presentation coming out of an iPad (or full screen video). They won't display a Keynote when it's part of an eBook.
Ideas? If I have to convert all the WMVs to m4vs or something, and re-build my presentations, I will. But the fact that it works without any problems in iBooks gives me a glimmer of hope that there is some way to accomplish this that I'm just not seeing.... Help?

The VLC app will play WMV files. When they are encountered you typically see an offer to open them in VLC and after playing you go back to the app that tried to play the WMV file. Worth a try.

  • Unable to play all songs on iPod after upgrading to iTunes 6

I recently updated my iPod (4G) to 2.3 and iTunes to 6, and now I can't play my entire library on my iPod, but I can play the entire library on my PC. Any takers? The songs in question have an exclaimation point next to them.

Usually the opposite happens to me it plays in the ipod but usually it means that iTunes can't locate the original location on the file so its like you have to right click on it and show iTunes where it is. I dunno if I helped. Hopefully one of the more accomplished members could help.

  • Songs on Ipod but not in itunes - ???

I have a 4th gen 20gb ipod. I have some podcasts on my ipod, but not on my itunes. I'm running out of memory and i don't want them!! I can't see how to delete them off if they aren't on itunes.
Aslso i have marked some songs as to not show on my ipod (marked in itunes), but they are still there on my ipod. Songs are mostly duplicates.

  • My iPad 2 won't play game volume or notifications but will play music, can anyone help ?

I'm having trouble with my iPad 2, it won't play volume in games or notifications but it work when I play music

You have mute turned on.  Mute shuts off system sounds, and some app sounds, but has no effect on normal sounds, such as music.  You can turn nute off a couple of differet ways, but the simplest is to go to settings, general, and see if the side switch is set to mute.  If so, simply slide the side switch.  If it is not set to mute, make it so, then slide the switch.

  • Deleting songs on iPod but not on iTunes

thanks in advance to any reply!!!!
originally, i have an iPod Photo 40gb. a few days ago, i bought an iPod Video 60gb. i use one computer, with one user.
i actually have two problems. i hope nothing gets too confusing!!
PROBLEM #1: in the days of my iPod Photo, i had a somewhat frustrating situation. i accidently (long story) deleted all my music files. this left me with songs on iTunes, and on my iPod but not on the computer. i was worried that my iPod would wipe out when i plugged it in, but i found the solution thanks to helpful apple.com! i didnt have to get my original music files back because the songs stayed on my iPod. though there was always an exclamation mark next to the song on iTunes. this meant i couldnt play the song on iTunes because there was no backup file, but i could listen to it on my iPod.
i plugged my new iPod into the same computer onto the same iTunes program. it's uploaded all the songs except the ones with exclamation marks. is there anyway i can get these songs (a total of 192) onto the iPod Video??
PROBLEM #2: i'd like to delete all the songs on the old iPod. Except i dont know how to do this without deleting all the songs on iTunes. i can't delete the songs on iTunes because i still need them for my new iPod. Is there anyway i can delete the songs on the iPod but keep them on iTunes for the new iPod? One last thing, if i manage to find the solution to emptying the old iPod, is it possible to upload it with new songs?? songs that i dont want on my new iPod. or am i asking for too much?
    THANKS!!!

You have a couple of options:
    1) Change the update option of your old iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists". Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod, you can amend the option there. In manual mode you can delete the songs off the iPod and keep them in iTunes. You can also drag from iTunes the tracks and playlists that you do want: Managing Your Songs Manually
    2) You can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" which would mean you could create a playlist specifically for your old iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Firefox won't play fox tv show videos but will play msnbc and you tube videos what is going on?

    Hello,
I can play video's on msnbc and you tube with no problems, but when I go to fox to play videos of their tv shows (like House) they won't play at all and just say "the video you are trying to watch is unavailable"

  • Just upgraded to the 4S, itunes won't play some songs on my phone?

I just bought the 4S and syned my phone w my macbook and did icloud back up. All my songs are on my phone but some will not play now? Why??

I may have figured it out. The library folder was right but the associations were not. I went to file and add to library and pointed that back to my library on my external and all the associations are being rebuilt. I hope this works. The files are being added to iTunes as I type.
Just an FYI if someone else runs into this issue.

  • Vcast Media Manager won't play some songs after Correcting Song Info

I recently installed Vcast MM 1.1 build 11 (most recent version that I see).
I imported all my local media into MM just fine.
However, after using the 'Correct Song Info' feature, several songs no longer play in the MM player.
Before using this feature, these songs played fine.
I have not tried playing them yet in another player but I will.
Is there a known issue with this feature? Is there anything I can do to get these to play in the Vcast MM player once again?
I like this feature since I have a lot of songs that don't have good info and this is a nice way to correct those.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.
     -SR

    Thanks.
You are correct, I did not change the file type. I only changed the Genre, Album info etc. And I definitely did not change the file location.
I don't believe the 'Correct Song Info' feature even tries to change the file type. I think it's only meant to change ID3 tag info.
