Word.doc converting incorrectly...

I have tried to covert my Word.doc to a .pdf file twice using
the Adobe PDF Online and both times it chaged information on my
document. I want to purchase the monthly subscription but I need
for it to work. Could you please tell me if I'm doing something
wrong the reason my documents aren't converting correctly.

Hi pamelcello,
Here is a small snippet from the Buzzword FAQ about some of
the fonts.
[snip]
Built-in fonts make sure everyone has the same fonts, and
therefore sees exactly the same document.
We want to limit the size of the download so that the user is
up and running quickly. To that end we're only downloading 7 font
families to start. In future releases, we'll look at accommodating
additional fonts without impacting the download times.
[snip]
There currently isn't a way for users to customize their font
list, but keep checking in the future for more options!
cheers,
Pete

  • How to setup word docs, converted to PDF on local drive with links to a second file at a page

how to setup word docs, converted to PDF on local drive with links to a second file at a page
Need to setup a set of word documents, converted to PDF that has links from one file to a second file at a given page.
I would like to setup a set of pdf documents, on the hard disk of a PC or Mac, that can be open with acrobat pro running on the same computer and have the link jump to, and open in a new window, in acrobat pro, to a given page of a second document in the set.
Is there a way to setup a link in word and the conversion to pdf that will result in a link that is equivalent to the acrobat link type  you get when you add a link of the type Go to a page in another document?
    Tools-Advanced Editing-Link tool, make a box
Check: Go to page view, Next (Create go to view dialog opens)
Open second document and go to page
Click “Create go to view dialog” to set up link
Result is a link, when view by link properties, with an action of
Go to a page in another document
    File: C:\My Documents\second file.pdf
    Page: 43
    Zoom level: Custom
I got close but did not solve the problem:
I have a version that uses links to a website, using #page=43 at the end of the hyperlink.
That works but will only open to the page if is through the web browser, opening the acrobat reader plugin.
I need to open from a folder on the local harddisk (with relative links), in acrobat pro to the given page of the pdf, on a PC or a Mac.
I could bookmark each page “pagenumberxxx” and jump to the bookmark/page if that would get around some problem
Current Systems in use to create documents with links and view them:
    Windows XP SP3
    Word 2003 SP3
    Acrobat 9 pro version 9.4.4
    Or just to view them:
Mac OS 10 Lion version 10.7.4
    Acrobat 9 pro version 9.5.1
(note I have limited understanding of Mac’s)

No.  There seems to be no automated way to do it.  You can of course go into the PDF and manually add links after you have converted to PDF, but that is what we want to avoid having to do.  We want it to be automatic from the Word doc.

  • How do I make hearts and symbols disappear from Word Doc converted from pdf?

This is the first time I've tried to convert a document.  I am in a new job and I'm stuck.  How do I convert pdf to word and not get symbols all over the Word doc?

Appears to be a font related issue.
Regardless, all you can do with the circumstances you describe is to use MS Word to perform cleanup of the export content.
Alternatively print the PDF to paper and use that as a source for transcription into a fresh word processor file.

  • How to edit word doc converted from PDF

I converted a PDF to a Word docx, and need to edit the doc. How do I do this?

As you would any other document. The problem is likely that you had scanned to PDF and never ran OCR. Thus the DOC file is a collection of pictures and no text. You either have to edit the graphic to fix the text or go back to the PDF and do OCR first. Use Searchable PDF to enable useful fonts for the DOC file.

    Hello Folks,

  • PDF to Word.doc Converter and vice versa

    Hello!
I am in need of a program capable to convert PDF files to Word documents and vice versa (eventually, a program for each way). The converter needs GUI and must handle images, tables etc. (not just plain text). Does anyone have any tip concering which
program I should use? It has to be free as my working place has not budgeted with buying 100 licenses. :-)
    Thanks in advance!

Free? You'll be lucky. Your best bet to achieve your requirements is a PDF compatible OCR application such as Finereader. Free it ain't!

  • Preserving HTML links when converting Word docs

I created a document in MS Word for Mac 2011 (ver 14.5.2)
When I used Adobe Pro 11 to convert the document into pdf format, all the HTML links are lost.
I have tried converting from MS Word, opening the word version with Adobe Pro, printing from MS Word to pdf.  Nothing works. Even opened the MS Word document using Apple's Pages software, re-formatted and then converted to pdf.  Still no live links.
Best work around so far is to convert and then use the edit feature in Adobe Pro to re-insert the HTML links as invisible rectangles on top of the still-blue-and- underlined text.  So to the user it looks like the html links are still live, but what a pain for editor.
I have seen this issue raised in other posts, but none of the answers seem to work. And the work around described above is clearly less than ideal.
Very curious, as reading other posts, the issue apparently does not arise when the word doc converted from a Wintel computer.  But I can't imagine Adobe writes software one way for Intel and another for Mac.

Imagine it. this has been 15 year fued between Microsoft and Adobe.  Adobe Claims that Mac office doesn't hav ethe proper hooks for URLs. Microsoft says the fault is with adobe.
Since a Word Created file will work when opened in the windows version  and saved as a PDF, the links work just fine. Just opening and not saving, but converted to Pdf does nothing to the actual Word File.
They had it fixed last year  in Acrobat X if your dropped the file on to Acroabt directly. But broke it again with the upgrade to XI.
IF you have iWork and Open the word file in Pages then exported as a Word.docx file then create The PDF the links will become active.  Also if you Open in OpenOffice and export as docx file the resulting PDF when open in Word and PDF is Created the links will become active.
If you have neither you will have to open the PDF and add the links. Note the Links will be hot (active) but the links will not turn Blue and  be Underlined
Mac Office2011 is a Conversion of Office2010/2007 code.  So there should be no pproblem.
Also Don't use the Save As . . .  PDF Method. Instead go to Print Menu  click on PDF wait for context menu > the choos Adobe Quality PDF or Adobe PDF (uses Adobe's PDF engine).
wait for next screen that shows qualtity leave as sent unles you need specific job options. click okay then next screen File name. Rename as necessary the browser to desired to location then click save.  Or you can drop the saved Word document (with Word quit.) on to Acrobat and after a minute or so the PDF will be created. (Using this method in AcrobatX would actully show URL s or Mailtos as active - They broke this in Acrobat XI PDF still can be created but hot links no longer work).
Well it seems it does work on occasion  see: http://www.screencast.com/t/cib2kcYG

  • When converting word doc to pdf, my images with text only show the background color of the text box.

I have a word doc that I am trying to conver to pdf.  I have jpegs with text boxes on top of them on one page.  It looks great on the screen but after I convert to pdf, the text boxes only have half the text, the first half of the text box is just white - the background color.  If I take the background color out of the text box, the text converts over fine but I need the background color.
I have tried many things here on the print settings, standard, high quality print, unchecking the compression on the images.  Any help?

  • Convert multiple files (word docs) to multiple pdf

    Hi,
Is there a script I can use in batch processing to convert about 1500 word documents into pdf? I know it's possible to convert multiple files into one pdf, but this is no good to me. Doing these conversions one by one is going to take forever!
I've tried selecting a few documents at a time and then selecting "convert to pdf" from the right-click menu, but each one requires that you tell it where to save, and then opens the file when it is done.
I need to convert Word files on a regular basis for work, and could really use a batch process for this with so many to do!
I have Acrobat 7 Pro (version 7.1.0) on XP Pro SP 2 at work, and Acrobat 8 Pro (Version 8.1.2) on XP Pro SP 3 at home.
If there is anyway it's possible to do this via a batch process I would really appreciate knowing how!!
Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, I searched but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks in advance :)

I have Acrobat 9 Pro. I can batch convert Word docs to PDFs by doing this:
    1. Open Acrobat Pro. Click File > Create PDF > Batch Create Multiple Files...
    2. A window will open prompting you to add files. Click Add Files > Add Files... OR Add Folders... If adding a folder, navigate to it, and click OK to add it to the list. You can also select a bunch of files and drag & drop them into the Add Files window.
    3. Once you have all the files listed that you want to convert, click OK. A new window called Output Options will open. In this window, select your preferred settings. For me, I want all the new PDFs to have the same filename and be in the same folder as the Word docs, so I choose these settings:
    4. Click OK, and then the batch process will begin running. You will see Word opening and closing. However, you won't have to click Save or anything. You can run it unattended. The process takes a little while, so I usually set up a batch to run, then go to lunch. Once finished, you should have all your new PDFs:
    Hope that helps someone!

I have been supplied info in an email to copy and paste for a new product purchase "Adobe Acrobat XI Pro OCR" but am unsure how and where to copy and paste to. There is also a link below the serial number. I have tried entering serial number into my Adobe ID but it is not recognising one of the letters in the 24 Digit serial number??? Also I have tried other products previously downloaded to convert a 7 page PDF file on my Mac and convert it to a Word doc but everything I have tried is converting the file to display some text correctly but also displays random symbols and fonts in place of the handwritten info filled in on the form... also getting blank pages included instead of the info??? Would appreciate some help... I am older generation and not always tech savvy, and it is doing my head in haha.

I don't believe it will open a Word document, but Writepad allows for handwritten conversion of notes to text and then to email. Might help you some of the way...

    Hi olivias,
It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):
