Word Processing problem: How do I highlight different lines to edit at....

How do I highlight different lines/words at the same time to edit simultaneously.
Ex
I like school
School is fun
Let's go to school
I can't wait
If I wanted to highlight the first and third line to center at the same time, how exactly would I do that?

Can't be done. AppleWorks doesn't support non-contiguous selection.
For your particular example, you can center lines one and three by this procedure:
Place the insertion point in line 1.
Press command-\
Place the insertion point in line 3.
Press command-\

BDC - ME52N how to replicate highlighting a line and coping it

Hello All,
i have used SHDB on transaction ME52N and have the code but what is not happening is, when i do the ME52N i highlight the first detail line and then depress the copy icon to create a second line. This is what i can not get to work in the BDC anyone have any ideas. It will not highlight the line and make a copy of it.

Hi Scott,
Why do you want to copy the line item. How is the 1st line item created. If the 1st line item is created by populating values from your own internal table, then even for creating 2nd line item, populate the data into 2nd from from the internal table itself.
If you select a line item and click on copy, it validates the 1st line item, checks for mandatory input values viz. material no, quantity, unit, G/L account no.,account assignment category.
Try to execute the transaction manually and populate the data. If it is working fine then try BDC for the same data with CALL TRANSACTION with MODE `A`.

UITextField text all runs together - how to format on different lines?

I have a UITextField I'm using for app information.
In the field, I separated lines with CNTL+RETURN, and when I look at the UITextField in the Interface Builder it looks fine.
But in the app itself, all the line breaks are gone and the text all runs together.
Is there some property or something I need to set in order to make sure the linefeeds are used?

Here's what I do :
in the viewcontroller implementation :
myTextView.text = @"I enter my text here using
to start a new line"; // ALL ON A SINGLE LINE ! !
myTextView would then display:
I enter my text here using
to start a new line
I write the string on a single line otherwise, I get some pbs...
So, sometimes, it's quite a long line !
The only thing I set up in IB is the text alignement, font, size and color...

Pages 5: Send shape to back in word processing mode

Using Pages 5.2:
In word processing mode, how can I add a shape and send it to the back?
The only way I've found is to 'move object to section master' but this, of course, causes it to appear on all section pages. I could hack up the document to create sections of the pages I want shapes in the background but I need the sections to work as proper sections.
I want to achieve a design like the attached image, where the white 'Executive Summary' text is in the main text flow in word-processing mode.
Is this possible in word processing mode?
(I can achieve it by adding another text box like I have done in the image attached but when I create the table of contents, it only recognises paragraph styles that are used in the main flow of text in word processing mode, not those used in text boxes).

I'd considered this though it felt like an ugly hack and I was holding out for a 'proper' way to do it! - That said, many thanks for your advice and confirming it looks like the best option, I'll do it like you suggest. I've submitted it as a feature request anyhow.

Word processing woes

I wonder if anyone has a solution for this problem. My friend got a great Core 2 black macbook for Christmas, and he loves it. But lately it's having word processing problems, and that's very bad since he's a writer. First, Word for Mac took forever to open, lagged while he used it, and ultimately refused to save documents, showing only the spinning beach ball of death.
I thought the problem was Word, because Word didn't work so well for me either, so we both bought Nisus Writer Express. I'm thrilled to pieces with it, but his has begun to suffer the same set of problems - a long loading time and - oh no!- endless spinning beach ball of death when he tries to save!
He repairs permissions regularly, and has removed the plists without solving the problem. He has 1 gig memory and a 120 gig hard drive which is less than half full. All other programs work normally.
Any ideas on what he can do, before he throws the macbook off the balcony?

Quit Word and search for the following .plist and trash it. Then restart Word.

How can I fix this line please

Hello Everyone,
I have in a form the following line

When I hit apply the words champs and obligatoires break on two different lines. There is space for them to be displayed next to each other.
I cannot see how to fix it. Would someone be kind enough to tell me what I am missing?

thank you for your help.
The whole form is a subscription form and it is quite long that is why I did not put it all here. This is the end of the form and while the word was in English it worked fine I translate it but it takes 2 words instead of one and they split.
There is no asterisk in the code I just put it there so I could display the code it kept changing on me while posting.

Different line terminator for SocketChannel

Any ideas on how to specify a different line terminator than '\n' for the SocketChannel.read() method, such as ASCII character 127?

To access different lines in an in internal table

Hi People,
How can I access different lines of an internal table where there is not set index which I have to access? I have to write only the last occurence of each kunnr getting stored in the internal table. Can somebody help?

Hi AM,
   You have got multiple solutions, each one of those are based on some assumptions.
   1. At end - this solution will work if kunnr is the first field in your internal table (Sorted).
   2. Edde's solution will work if all the values for kunnr in the internal table are same.
   If not of this applies then you need write a piece of logic between LOOP and ENDLOOP, but the right solution will depend on the exact nature of your problem. More you explain your problem better are the chances of getting a solution.

hi i was wondering how can you substring different lines from say a text file i want to take out different characters from different lines on the file

Since strings are immutable, you should probably use a StringBuilder to construct your end result. Basically you have to read and then just not write the characters you don't want.
Without specifics on what you are talking about then, that is about as good as I can say.

Very stupid question -- how do I delete old word processing documents??

I have a zillion old word processing documents stored away. Many of them are old school projects my kids did, and I would really like to clean house. But I can't figure out how.
Going to "File," clicking on "Open" to get the list of all documents, then highlighting a document and hitting "delete" (which is pretty much what you do in WordPerfect) does NOT do the job. Nothing happens.
I ask this very basic question because the Appleworks "Help" feature on my machine doesn't give an answer, and neither (as far as I can tell) does the pdf Appleworks manual on the Apple site. I'm at a loss. Can anyone give me a hand with this?

How to select text and pictures together in word processing mode?

Hello,
I have written about 20 chapters of a book in word processing mode. Each chapter has many pictures, carefully positioned within the text.
Each chapter is a separate pages file.
Now i want to put them together into one single document and have a big problem.
When i press cmd+A to select everything in one document in order to copy and paste it into another document, i can either select the text OR the pictures, not both together.
In Layout mode it is possible, but not in word processing mode.
Does anybody know how to select both in word processing mode or how to transform a word processing document into a layout mode document?
Or is there a way to put together a word processing document from a number of single documents?

I still use word processing for just about everything. The first two versions of Pages only had word processing. I think all of the complaints/requests about the "always-present" text layer led the developers to add page layout. I think they would have been better off adding another application (like AppleWorks' draw module compared to AppleWorks' word processing module.

I am copying and pasting into a new, Pages document (from the word processing menu), and I paste in text that is longer than one page, it doesn't continue onto the next page. I can't see the end. How do I get it to show everything I paste in?

I want to copy an extensive amount of text from a web page into a Pages word processing document, but it seems to chop it up into text boxes, some of which aren't long enough to show all of the lines of text. I can't get hold of a bottom edge of the boxes to drag them to make them longer. I tried several times starting over with a new, blank page (and I made sure to choose from the Word Processing part of the dropdown menu, since I read about a similar problem that said not to use the layout menu. It keeps doing the same thing. What do I have to do to get long text pasted to multiple pages, instead of it trying to be all on one page?
In the long run, what I want is to create this as an ePub book. Is there a better way to go about this?

Copying from web pages can include some weird formatting. Instead of Paste, use Paste and Match Style (Edit Menu).
