Work without installing JRE

Is there a way to get the ActiveXBridge to work with out installing the plug in? I would like to just include the JRE in my program that I am installing and point the path of the JRE to that location.
If I install my program on a clients machine I dont want to have to install the plugin or require them to, but instead just include the JRE in my program and have that JRE used when the bean is executed.
Is this possible? Is the JRE location hardcoded in the beans.ocx?
Thanks

You can use installer for yuor java application: INSTALLANYWHERE (on www.zerog.com).
It install java with your application but no registering it in registry.
Also it works on many platforms.

  • Running java application without installing JRE

We try to run Java application without installing JRE, by copying java.exe (and other JRE files) together with our jar file. This does not work.
    Can it be solved?

Can you elaborate on the steps to create a java
    application without installing JRE.
    Regards,
    padmaPadma,
The solution is to deploy my JAR together with JRE files, without running standard JRE installation. This makes possible to simply ensure that my JAR will run with THIS SPECIFIC JRE. This is important from QA point of view. Also, installation of my application does not change configuration of JVMs on the computer.
    The solved problem:
Standard JRE installation may change the default JRE for many Java applets and application on computer. Changing version JRE may lead to some programs misbehaviour (JRE backward compatibility does not always work and different Java versions not always live together well). Thus, some IT departments are very nervous about JRE version change.
Hope, this explains my problem and the solution.

  • Can JMF work without installing it?

    Hi,
Last time i was on this forum i said i won't come back for some years because it's too advanced for me...but now i have this problem and i really want to solve it. I created a music player using JMF. But, if i want to move it on another computer, it requires to install JMF on that computer too. Is there any way to make JMF work without installing it... something like including a JAR in my project? If it is possible, could you explain me the steps, please? A music player isn't very good if it requires two programs to be installed in order to make it work (i mean Java 1.6 and JMF).
    Thank you very much.

If you're using / doing anything that isn't supported by the cross-platform pack then you'll have to have JMF installed in order to run your program.
You can, of course, package the JMF installer with your own installer, and kick off the JMF installation process as part of your process. You can also track the location of the installed files and install JMF yourself, but, that's going to be complicated, tricky, and probably pretty brittle.

  • Launching JVM without installing JRE

Can you, somehow, launch a java application (provided in a jar file) without having the client to install the JRE?
I don't mean to compile my java program into native code (if ever possible).
I'd like to be able to launch a "live" version of JVM which will then run my java application.
I think java IDEs like netbeans, work like that. They can launch without a JRE installed on the system since they rely on their own internal one to run.
I guess they start running in a native way and then activate their internal VM which will manage the real application.
Am I correct? Can you do that.
    Thanks in advance

I'd like to be able to launch a "live" version of JVM
which will then run my java application. To execute a .class file there has to be a JVM present. If you independently set and/or manage the execution path and the classpath the only "installation" required is that the JVM be present. The JVM that's internal to the SDK/JDK and totally contained within the JAVA_HOME\jre directory is like this - there are no external references made to it. For instance, if you use a command like this:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin\java.exe -classpath <whatever> <yourclass>
Then the only requirement is that a JRE has a java.exe at that location.
I think java IDEs like netbeans, work like that. No, they all require that a JRE already be present.

  • Way to play iPod at work without installing anything?

I want to play my iPod at work through my computer's speakers, but I don't want to install iTunes or any other programs. Is there any way to just connect the iPod using the USB cable and play the song files?

I've not tried it myself, but I believe you can install Yamipod on your iPod and use the playback feature.
Yamipod is also useful to have on the iPod for all it's other features.

Holding off installing Yosemite on my mid-2009 MBP. Too many issues at least in first release and it doesn't support continuity/handoff anyway.  But I am installing ios 8.1 on my iphone 5.  So the question: continue to refrain from syncing with icloud drive, in the absence of Yosemite?

Is Upload to my Photo Stream activated on your iPhone? This could be the reason why they don't sync with iPhoto.

  • How to run java exe files without having to install jre

Hi all i want to run a java application. i already converted the jar file to exe using Launch4j but the problem is that i want to run the application on other computers without having to install jre. please, is this possible and if yes, how can i do that. Thanks alot in advance

The Launch4J website should explain how to bundle the JRE. I've not really used it myself though. If you can't get it to work you could try the launcher I use:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FYZAVM77
    which comes with instructions. Or:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/javaround
Both of which are really easy to use.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • Want a code to check & install JRE automaticallly without user intervention

    hi
I am trying to run an applet on a machine that is not having JRE on it.
want a code that will check for such condition and install JRE automatically.
If JRE is already present then it should check for required version and enable it also.
    please help in this regard.
    thanks in advance
    Santosh.

The ability to detect the jre at the update level, as well as the ability to install a specific version are only present if the DT plugins are installed.
These plugins only exist for windows and are only part of the 6u10 (1.6.0_10) versions of java.
The javascript you show uses an undefined minimumVersion variable.
also note, you cannot use the wildcard '1.5.0*' in the call to isWebStartInstalled (which takes minimumVersion arg)
if fixed, this code would still not work as you want, since clients with 1.6.0 or later would sail straight thru and launch.
    I suggest replacing isWebStartInstalled() with deployJava.versionCheck('1.5.0*') .
then on systems with the plugin installed, if no 1.5.0* version is installed, the latest 1.5.0_XX will be installed before launching the app.
(assuming the app has also <j2se version=1.5/> or equiv.)
on systems w/o plugins installed, the latest version of java will be installed, and it will be up to javaws auto download to get 1.5.0* version.
this could still have problems, especially on platforms not supporting the plugins (non-windows) , since code keeps checking for '1.5.0*', and installing only latest, so you would want to wrap install with something to prevent repeated attempts to install:
    if (deployJava.versionCheck('1.6.0+') && !deployJava.isPluginInstalled()) {
    ---- don't do any install here - ---

    VBSK wrote:
I am working on SQL Developer tool without installing oracle into my local machine. You need an Oracle client driver - this is mandatory.
No, you do not need a TNS alias (as the connection string can be build manually by the application and the driver).
So SQL*Developer needs to have an OCI (Oracle Call Interface) client driver. This can be "installed" using Oracle Instant Client.
Instant Client does not really install - to use it takes 3 basic steps:
    - download it (zip file)
    - unzip it to a directory (e.g. C:\InstantClient on Windows)
    - add to your Windows User's environment an ORACLE_HOME variable that points to this directory
These steps should suffice in making the driver in in Instant Client available to Oracle applications. (works for me running an Oracle OCI client like <i>Mumbai</i> or Oracle's <i>SQL Data Modeler</i>).
If you want a tnsnames.ora file, then create the file and create a new environment variable called TNS_ADMIN that refers to directory location of the file. It can use the same location as your Instant Client directory.
PS. I assume you have an existing Oracle server to connect to.

  • Designing Java Apps for Users Without a JRE Installed Yet

Hi, sorry if this post is in the wrong place, but here goes:
I'm designing a Swing Java application for a client. My client intends to distribute/sell this application.
I'm concerned because, chances are that at least one of the people he distributes this application to will not have the JRE installed and will thus be unable to run the application.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on ways I can make my application more convenient for users without the JRE currently installed? Even some kind of error message that would direct the user to the JRE download site would be okay.

Use NSIS and package your application with JRE.
Add your jar files to lib/ext of the JRE package.
NSIS can create a short cut (desktop/start menu) to launch java class/jar file
I would not use webstart unless you are sure that clients will have access to the internet, the bandwidth is not an issue and installing the new JRE is allowed (permissions, SLA, etc.)
    Best regards.

    Hi Oneinspirit,
Time Machine backups can be paused by choosing "Stop Backing Up" from the Time Machine icon on the right hand side of your menu bar ( ). Once you're ready to resume the backup, you can choose "Back Up Now" from the same icon.
