Workflow in ocs with bpel

Hi
I installed OCS 10 g and Application server 10.1.2 J2EE and web cache.
I can't configure oracle Bpel mid - tier to work with ocs how could i do that?
I want to make ocs workflow with bpel . And how i design the workflow with out bpel designer? because bpel mid - tier hasn't jdev designer?

You can download Web Services Development kit from the link below.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/cs/developer/contentservicesdev/contenservicesdevkit.html.
It gives you some sample BPEL processes and documentation on how to configure OCS with BPEL.
Regarding the use of JDev, you can install JDev on a windows machine and design a process. Once you are done designing your process you can deploy this to a BPEL server by creating a deployment connection(click on BPEL Project and choose deploy -- you can find a menu to create deployment connection to a remote BPEL server).
Hope this helps,
Ravikiran

  • Problem getting custom workflow to work with BPEL Worklist

I am currently working through the DocumentReviewWorklow custom workflow example in the Oracle Content Services 10g Custom Workflows document and cannot get the workflow to prompt approvers through the BPEL Worklist application that an action must be taken.
When I run the workflow, the process gets to the point of calling the TaskActionHandler and the approver is told that a process is pending their approval in the Content Services Console.
The following appears in the BPEL Process Manager when I Audit the workflow:
    onMessage (137) - pending
[2006/03/20 08:57:42] Waiting for message from "TaskManagerService", operation is "onTaskSuspended".
    onMessage (126) - pending

[2006/03/20 08:57:42] Waiting for message from "TaskManagerService", operation is "onTaskCompleted".
    onAlarm (161) - pending
[2006/03/20 08:57:42] Alarm started. Alarm will go off at time "2006/03/22 08:57:42".
    onAlarm (156) - pending
[2006/03/20 08:57:42] Alarm started. Alarm will go off at time "never".
    onAlarm (151) - pending
[2006/03/20 08:57:42] Alarm started. Alarm will go off at time "never".
After a period of time, the workflow eventually times-out because it is neither approved or disapproved. I have got the other non-blocking custom workflow examples to work without any problems.

Thanks bnainani, you solved my problem!
Despite the fact that the approver's username is in the Oracle Collabortion Suite OID as all lower case letters (and you can still login to worklist with lower case letters), you were right in saying that you have to use all upper case letters when logging into the worklist application in order to see the pending tasks.
Just out of curiousity, do you have any idea why worklist requires upper case letters for the username?

  • Oracle Files with Workflow in OCS release 2

I am trying to configure email notification in the Workflow that comes with OCS release 2. Refering to Oracle Files Admin Guide, page 7-10, it says that I should conifgure sendmail to be used. I want to use OCS mail. Can this be done?
In fact, I need this to be done this way cos SendMail is turned off. My mid tier, calendar, Files, Mail, is sitted on a single server.

Files R2 integrates with Workflow 2.6.2. I believe Workflow 2.6.2 on UNIX requires Sendmail to be configured, but they support other mailers through UNIX gateways. Please refer to the Oracle Workflow Guide for more details.

  • JDeveloper 11g with BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0

    Hi,
    Here is my requirement.
To develop a simple web application which talks to a Business work flow developed using BPEL.
The Setup I wanted to work on
    JDeveloper 11g.
    BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0.
Now the problems seems to be is that JDeveloper 11g doesnt seem to be having BPEL Designer ,is there is plugin for me to get BPEL Designer in my JDeveloper 11g.
Could some body tell me if i can use JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 with BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0 if yes then
how do we configure the JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 to point to BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0.
    Regards
    Harish

Huh? In the subject you're talking about BPEL 10.1.3.x and now you're asking for 10.1.2?
Anyway, you need the corresponding JDeveloper version to develop the BPEL workflow, ie JDev 10.1.3.4 for BPEL 10.1.3.4 or JDev 10.1.2. for BPEL 10.1.2.
You can install as much as possible JDeveloper versions on your machine. As long as they are installed in a different home. I usually have three to six installations.
Develop your workflow in the JDev matching the BPEL version and develop your UI in JDev 11g calling the BPEL as a WebService.

I am doing that as well but we are really short on time we have delivery date on 1st of August. And our man SOA guy has resigned so i had to take over without its knowledge.
I have a document called Oracle® BPEL Process Manager, shall i read Service Configuration with
    Configuring the Identity Service
    ■ Configuring the Notification Services
    ■ Configuring the Workflow Service
    ■ Integrating Oracle BPEL Process Manager with the Oracle Application Server
    Service Registry
    would that enough?

  • Unable to run Workflow on OCS R1 windows singlebox

    hi
has anyone installed Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 on OCS R1 windows singlebox?
when should I install Workflow during installation of OCS?
where can I download Oracle Workflow for OCS R1 windows singlebox?
    I'm stuck.... help me.
    thanks in advance

set your storage environment, and run
    wfinstall
    from $ORACLE_HOME/wf/install
but you, know theres enough issues with release 1, i would really suggest, you install release 2, the process is more streamlined. There are quite a few issues with workflow and files integration. You need to apply the 9.0.3.1 patchset prior to workflow aswell. Otherwise you'll have to use a few workarounds.
Firstly you need to install, workflow and then add certain languages. You then have to apply a few patches, create a DAD - this stuff is taken care of in release 2.

    Samir,
I don't see any answer for your post.
Did you find a solution. I would be interested to know as how to integrate business services in JDE with BPEL/SOA 10g or 11G.
I would appreciate if you could share the approach/solution you followed. Also, please let me know if there are any docs which I can for jde-fusion integration.
    Thanks

  • Business Catalog updated with BPEL refs, not with BPMN refs

When adding BPEL processes to the SCA component you see the Business catalog modules "References" and "Services" are updated. However, when adding BPMN processes the Business catalog is not updated (and btw you cannot check "Expose as an web service" when creating a BPMN process like you can with BPEL processes). In my opinion the current solution seems incomplete: viewing the "Exposed services" lane of my composite.xml I should expect all of them in the Business Catalog, not only the BPEL ones. It seems Oracle's work behind the Business Catalog component has not finished yet or is there some logic behind this behaviour?
I am working with version 11.1.1.6
Edited by: GSmink on Jul 9, 2012 5:12 AM
    corrected spelling errors

    Dan,
No I did not use Reusable or Manual processes, I use processes (asyn) with a Message Start event, and yes, I see them nicely in the Composite's Exposed Services and the wsdl's in the project's SOA Content folder. But my 'concern' is why the Business Catalog (BC) is not populated with BPMN processes like it is with BPEL processes. In the "Services" module of the BC I see the submodule BPEL with my BPEL processes so I had expected a submodule BPMN with my BPMN processes. From a business perspective I certainly would also see my business processes in the BC, so for me it seems 'unbalanced'
(I ran against this issue when using correlation:
In the process receiving an 'in flight' message I defined a Message catch event step in where I defined in the box "Message Exchange" Type :"Define Interface". Then building the process that throws the message to the in-flight process instance I defined the Message Throw event step and in that step I had expected to be able to use the Message Exchange Type "Use Interface" but that was not possible because I could only select BPEL services.
I solved this by selecting "Process call" in stead of "Use Interface".)

  • What is the Design to Deployment Workflow using DW with WordPress?

I am a Designer and Developer/programmer. This is a complete workflow question: What is the Design to Deployment Workflow using DW with WordPress? For example, is it:
PS/IL > DW > WP? (Photoshop or Illustrator, Dreamweaver, WordPress?)
Or is Edge Reflow inserted between PS and DW?
    PS > ER > DW > WP?
Are these workflows iterative and, whats the word, recursive - we are able to go back and forth?
My understanding is that the Edge tools are not up to the coding standards of DW, and ER > DW (Edge Reflow to Dreamweaver) is not seamless or even practical.
Where does the Stack come in? MAMP (or LAMP/WAMP) of course, jQuery/jQuery UI, WordPress and other items; how integrated are these things?
I used to be a Flex developer and quite comfortable with the Design to Dynamic Deployment workflow of Illustrator or Photoshop to Flash Catalyst to Flash Builder; moreover, I thought the Eclipse IDE was excellent with its database introspection capabiliities, debugging etc. Adobe really pushed this workflow, then instead of innovating and standing behind its own product with 98% market penetration, Adobe disembowelled Flash right before everyones eyes.
What about Prototyping, which is certainly part of the process? Fireworks is on the kibosh. Illustrator, while excelling at some aspects falls short of making a functional prototype (unless you're tying in Acrobat to link the pages), and while Photoshop is Edge Reflows darling, Edge seems redundant with DW and spits out twacky code.
(Muse of course is unusable for professional developers, but it makes you wonder why some of those UI elements where not employed in DW whose interface seems antiquated by comparison).
It seems Adobe is bloody all over the place, more like a rabbing drunk with a microphone rather than the dependable go-to software company for creatives the world over.
In my opinion, workflow from beginning to end is important. Having a million different options to try to accomodate everyone is not. Some guidance in this department is greatly appreciated!
    Best,
    Dylan

I have not used Edge Reflow myself.  Nor do I espically like WordPress.  But my typical workflow is:
PS for Design Concept and web images.
DW for CSS, HTML & JavaScript.
3rd party editors like Zend Studio & Navicat for PHP & MySql development.

  • Should Not handle large base64Binary data with BPEL?

    Hi,
we need to implement a file saving function. I have no problem to implement the web service with Java class by using MTOM streaming but I question on the best design with BPEL for this or if BPEL should not be used for this at all. Please help.
For the requirement, the file content could be the text entered from a web page or the binary data from any resource such as an existing file or email message body etc, which is not limited. Also the web service would receive the desired file name. But the actual file name should be created by the web service based on the desired file name plus some business rule.
I am thinking of creating a BPEL app for this. The input for the file content is designed to be of type base64Binary so that the application could handle either ASCII or Binary data. In this BEPL app, it needs first to call a web service to get the information where to put the file (this is dynamic) and generate the actual file name and then it calls another web service to save the file with the actual file name and content. I wonder in the case of saving content of big size such as content read from a PDF file, it could cause resource issue due to the dehydration in BPEL. I am not so clear about dehydration. Does that mean when the BPEL invokes the 1st web service to get the information where to put the file, the base64Binary data for the file content would be first saved into the DB (dehydrated)? Would this cause issue? If so, does that mean for this business needs, we should not use SOA, instead, we should just implement it with JAX-WS?

    Operating System is Windows 7
I do not know what you mean by Patched to 7.0.4
I do not have a crash report, the software just freezes and I have to do a force close on the program.
    Thank you for your time...

  • XSLT Mapper with BPEL??

Hi there - I was advised by PeopleSoft tech support that JDeveloper contained an "XSLT generator" where you could put two XML files side by side and drag & drop fields between them to generate XSLT automagically. Turns out this is NOT included in JDeveloper, but I've heard that it is part of BPEL.
Can anyone confirm this - if so, how would I install BPEL (is it an extension of JDeveloper?)
    Thanks, and forgive my ignorance!
    Cheers, Paul

    Paul:
BPEL Designer is not part of JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA, but word on the street is that it will be when JDev 10.1.3 goes production. My sense is this might be soon (weeks rather than months) but I have no inside information to that effect, only a nose in the wind...
When you download the current edition of the Designer, it will come already integrated into JDeveloper 10.1.2. You get the whole kit and kaboodle. I currently have 3 installs of JDeveloper: 1) 10.1.2 standalone, 2) 10.1.2 with BPEL Designer integrated, and 3) 10.1.3 EA. I could probably ditch the first one, but there's something weird about using JDev for non-BPEL work and having the BPEL Designer so prominent in the tool.
Anyway, blah, blah, blah. Good luck with your exploring.

  • Need more info abt the functions of each classes in Workflow API's of BPEL

Need more information about the functions of each method of the classes in Workflow API's of BPEL
The Java documentation of the workflow API (especially Identity Service classes) is having a one liner explanation for the methods of each class. We need to implement our own Identity Service that implements the BPMIdentityService interface. We are not able to map the function of each methods of this interface to what our security subsystem provides. We feel that we need more detailed information about what each method of each class is doing internally so that we can map to whatever our security subsystem provides.
The BPEL Developers Guide does not talk about the functionality of each methods of this interface. If anybody can guide me to look into some documentation that has this information or if anybody has this information, then please do the necessary help.
