WorkFlow OWB Jobs

Is there a way to run the Workflow jobs independent of Oracle clients (OWB and OEM)? We currently have OWB client for windows installed on our machine and cannot use windows to run our jobs in our production environment. Is there a way to run OWB jobs in unix?

Hi,
Assuming the 3 users/schemas after the OWB installations are owb, owbuser, owbrun(runtime)
Login with Owbuser ID/pwd to Unix sqlplus
then execute the following line (all in one line)
@/build/owb92/owb/rtp/sql/oem_exec_template.sql owbrun CDS_TXN_LOAD_PROCESS_FLOW_LOC PROCESS CDS_TXN_LOAD_PROCESS_FLOW_01 "," ","
where
@/build/owb92/owb/rtp/sql/oem_exec_template.sql - complete path of oem_exec_template.sql file
CDS_TXN_LOAD_PROCESS_FLOW_LOC - process flow location
CDS_TXN_LOAD_PROCESS_FLOW_01 - process flow name
PROCESS - keyword to run workflow process

. We have also installed the patch 9.0.2.66.0. but problem continues.
    Please help.

    Lucas,
Your first issue is regarding the control file not being passed. In order to fix that you have to specify the control file in the mapping configuration. Beware that this control file is being read through utl_file, i.e. you will have to set the utl_file_dir in the init parameters of your database to the correct directory in order for the database to be able to read it. Basically, the control file is being read in order to fill the audit tables with the correct data.
Your second issue is regarding the type of job. As you may know OWB 'integrates' with Oracle Workflow (OWF) as well. The OWF solution also relies on the use of OEM for job execution. All of that is currently managed by Workflow Queue Listener. In order for Workflow Queue listener to be able to correctly handle the OEM jobs (defined as external functions in OWF) the job has to be defined as is. Besides, with the current way of registering the jobs all jobs (PL/SQL, ABAP or SQL Loader) are registered in the same way and directed by parameters.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark.

  • Runtime audit browser shows the status busy for the cancelled OWB jobs

    Hi ,
I canceled long running OWB job.But the runtime audit browser was showing the status as BUSY.
I observed the the oracle session (SID:48) was running and killed the session.
After killing the session, the status in runtime audit browser changed to COMPLETED.
Till that time i was with an impression that "if we cancel a OWB job then it will kill all the sessions/process that initiated".
Could please tell me why this is happening?
    Anything wrong with my configuration?
    Appreciate early response.
    Thanks,
    Naidu

    Hi Naidu
Yes you are absolutely right. When you press the cancel button in the GUI, the runtime repository does not get the signal that he is been asked to stop and abort. The GUI cancels himself but the background oracle process is still on !!!. The only way to do is to kill the oracle session. Another way I tried to tackle is
go to the directiry OWB/10.1/owb/rtp/sql and run the file @list_request.sql in sqlplus. Note that you have to login as runtime repositiry owner. After you get the audit id, run the file abort_exec_request.sql and supply the audit id that you obtained by running list_requests.sql. Sometimes it does not work also . Hence the best method is to kill the process

  • Workflow Timer Job Is Stuck( 0% Progress and Running Continuously )

We are facing strange issue in sandbox. Workflow timer job in central admin (CA) is getting stuck.workflow time interval is 2 minutes.
It supposes to run for every two minutes. But it stuck after the start. It is not resume (or) complete the job. It is showing 0% progress and running status.
We need to restart the SharePoint2010 Timer Service to restart the timer job.
When we restart the “SharePoint 2010 Timer”, Workflow timer job gets re started. But again it is stuck.
So whenever we need to run workflows I need to restart the “SharePoint 2010 Timer” service.
I have re created my site collection and delete the local list (which has workflow association).
But Workflow timer job in CA not resumed (or) completed.
Are there any options to reset the workflow timer job? Is there any way to clear state of workflow timer job?

i have got same problem in my SharePoint Server
for  Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import,
    Config Refresh
    workflow
so i have read most of notes.
Clearing the cache is the best resolving part for this.
To resolve this issue, clear the file system cache on all servers in the server farm on which the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service is running. To do this, follow these steps:
    Stop the
Timer service. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
Right-click SharePoint 2010 Timer services, and then clicks Stop.
    Close the Services console.
    Navigate to the directory:C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config
    \GUID.
    Backup the GUID folder
Back up the Cache.ini file. (Make a copy of it. DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE, Only the XML files in the next step)
Delete all the XML configuration files in the GUID folder (DO NOTE DELETE
THE FOLDER). Do this so that you can verify that the GUID folders content is replaced by new XML configuration files when the cache is rebuilt.  Note when you empty the configuration cache in the GUID folder; make sure that you do NOT delete
the GUID folder and the Cache.ini file that is located in the GUID folder.
    Double-click the Cache.ini file.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Type 1, and then click Save on the File menu. (Basically when you are done, the only text in the config.ini
file should be the number 1)
On the File menu, click Exit.
Start the Timer service. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
    Right-click SharePoint 2010
    Timer, and then click Start.
    Close the Services console.
Note The file system cache is re-created after you perform this procedure. Make sure that you perform this procedure on all servers in the server farm.
Make sure that the Cache.ini file in the GUID folder now contains its previous value. For example, make sure that the value of the Cache.ini file is not
    1.
Check in the GUID folder to make sure that the xml files are repopulating. This may take a bit of time.

  • Workflow Cleansing Job

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know about any way or process using which the workflow completion jobs (the one which stored in workflow tab in Datamanager) can be automatically deleted. We have many workflows and resulting in creating of numerous jobs which ultimately getting stored. As of now we need to manually delete this job through worklfow tab,
Is there any way this deletion can be done by system/automatically?
    Thanks in advance.

  • OWB workflow process job error

Hi, I tried the sample in OBE for OWB. When I start to execute "LOAD_EXPESNE_WH" process, I got the following log file(see below).
The job ended in error, but I don't know further information where the error is happening. Can you explain what the error might be or where I might look for more clues?
    Thank you very much,
    Execution : LOAD_EXPENSE_WH
    Runtime User : REP_OWNER
    Started : 2007-03-06 12:59:55.0
    Updated : 2007-03-06 13:00:08.0
Job Final Status : Completed with errors
    Job Error Count : 0
    Job Warning Count : 0

Thanks for the help. I don't find a log directory under rtp at server side. However, I logged in Repository browser( is this the OWB runtime Auit browser you referred to?), found some error messages.
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout ORA-29400: data cartridge error KUP-04040: file expense_categories.csv in SOURCE_LOCATION not found
Now I need to explain my setup. I'm running Design Center(DC) on a client machine while Oracle database is running on a seperate server machine. The flat source files are located on the client machine c:\newowbdemo\sourcefiles. SOURCE_LOCATION has been defined to c:\newowbdemo\sourcefiles where the flat files reside. So it looks like Oracle ETL can not find the files on the client machine.
So I just created identical directories as c:\newowbdemo\sourcefiles on server machine, rerun ETL process, and it now completes successfully.
    This begs two questions.
    1. Is DC supposed to be running on server machine?
    2. Can DC use UNC name convention?
    Please give me your thoughts.
    Thanks,

  • Owb job taking too much time to execute

While creating a job in OWB, I am using three tables,a joiner and an aggregator which are all joined through another joiner to load into the final table. The output is coming correct but the sql query generated is very complex having so many sub-queries. So, its taking so much time to execute. Pls help me in reducing the cost.
    -KC

It depends on what kind of code it generates at each stage. The first step would be collect stats for all the tables used and check the SQL generated using EXPLAIN PLAN. See which sub-query or inline view creates the most cost.
Generate SQL at various stages and see if you can achieve the same with a different operator.
The other option would be passing HINTS to the tables selected.

    Hi Shrinika,
did you try to "enable" scheduled mapping directly from OWB Design Center (or Control Center Manager)?
For enabling job from OWB client - rightclick on Control Center name and choose Job Monitor, in opened window select Schedule tab, select your job and "start" it.

  • Workflow & OWB Control Center

    Previously; I have been using control center with no problems; i.e. I would run/execute mapping directly. I've attempted to install Workflow 2.6.4 With DB 10g R2 (10.2.0.1); Everything seemd to go ok;
today I have tried to open control center and now I have issues getting into it
RTC-5260: Failed to connect to Control Center, Please check you have provided the correct Host, user, password and service
    name.
RTC-5301: The Control Center Service is not currently avaliable
** I have tested connection to Control Centers (Both my default and BI_ADMIN) work ok and are successful
** I have also Started Control center service, using the BI_ADMIN Control Center
** Note: I have BI_ADMIN, set to my default configuration
Not sure what is going on; Currenlty using OWB 10gR2

Run the rtp/sql/show_service.sl command to ensure the service is up and running. There is also a service_doctor.sql script that will analyze for issues if it is not running, and finally there are log files under the OWB ORACLE_HOME/owb/log directory, if it is not running the last log in here will have some details which may be useful, to include in the thread.

  • Owb job monitoring through a database table.

    Hello There,
How can we know if a job (owb process flow) is running through a database table. i want to know if a scheduled or unscheduled job is running through a database table. I am sure owb is recording that information somewhere in a table.

  • Owb job (import) scheduling with oem 2.2

    Hi all,
    System config :
oracle 8.1.7 enterprise, oem 2.2.0.0.0 and owb 3i. on
    windows nt workstation.
I created necessary source and target module and mapping is
completed in owb. When I generated scripts on mapped objects,
it created a ctl script and tcl scripts. when I try to register
with OEM register it is giving following error message
"failed to register the jobs with oem. oem registratrion failed.
please make sure you have oem client installed locally. the oem
is running and you have enter informationa oem inforamtion under
    preferences".
But actually oem is running on my system, oracle8ihomeagent
is running and other things are also fine.
Can any one help me in addressing the problem.
    Thanks a lot.
    with regards
    sreenivas

As bazzza mentioned, try a simple SQL script with say "select 1 from dual".
What is the RMAN Script doing? A big Backup? If it has not failed with an error, then check from the database to see if the session is doing something.

  • Under my project i have several workflows and jobs how to check lookups

I want to in which jobs there are lookup functions used, how can i check.
I have several jobs with workflows.
Thank you very much for the helpful info.
I am using BODI XI 3.2 version.

You can open the ATL file in notepad and search for lookup key word. But messing around with ATL file is not a good idea, be sure to have a copy of the file.
If you are looking for a specific lookup function, the easier way to find is from the management console
Once you login in the management console, you can the Auto Documentation tab and click the required projects and drill down on each objects or classes. You can see the lookup function there.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I assume you are using OWB 2.0.4.78.
If you are getting a progress box which does move beyond 0% then this is due to a bug in this release.
I suggest that you apply the patch and upgrade to 2.0.5. The patch file available for download from metalink site is some 44Mb in size.
    This should solve your problem.

  • MDM Workflow - Split jobs for Adds and Updates

I am trying to set up a workflow where the inbound file contains Adds and Updates. I want the Adds to get added to a new workflow and the updated records to split off into a separate workflow branch where they will be automatically processed.
Any ideas on how to split these records?
    Regards,
    Brent

Have a Status field in the data model. This status field will have "Add" or "Change" as the possible values.
When record gets added, you set this flag to "Add".
When record gets changed, you set this flag to "Change".
Have a validation step. for Record = Add.
If the validation passes, then it is a "Add scenario". Use the branch step for the validation success branch and the validation failure branch.
You should now have two branches one for add and the other for change.

  • OWB free version 10.2

    Dear -
I am presently evaluating OWB V 10 R2 for a fitment for data transformation (I know we have more recent releases available) and was wondering where can I find information about the free release. I tried to search the forum as well and was not able to get any relevant information.
What I am looking for is: -
    1. What are drawbacks/limitations of using a free version as compared to a licensed copy?
    2. Where can I find more information about the internal job execution mechanism by Oracle Workflow Manager (used to execute OWB job in my current scenario)?
    3. What benefits I can have if I procure licenses for OWB?
    4. Is there a possibility, as I heard, that jobs stay most of time in waiting state with the free release, due to limitations on number of process which can execute at any moment of time?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks upfront for all your suggestions and pointers.
    Regards

    Hi,
there are no diferent OWB releases - "free" and "licensed". Instead there is a single OWB release but to legally use several features (like SCD type 2/3, pluggable mapping, variables in processflows, configurations, etc.) you must buy ODI Enterprise Edition license.
With most Oracle database (except free Oracle XE) you get free of charge OWB Basic ETL (correspondes to OWB10gR1 features set).
Link to license rules is placed on [OWB product page|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/warehouse/overview/index.html] (look for pink square with hedaing "Understand OWB Feature Groups and Required Licenses"), this link direct you to these documents
