Workforce entity

Question

Hi,
In workforce planning application there is an entity dim and employee dim. My employees belong to specific departmnets. Shall these dimensions be linked?
As far as i understand you can plan to departments and to general deparment employee if you want to plan only to departments.
Shall i create my deparments unde employee dimension and that put my employees under the hierarchy?

I don't recommend merging Employee and Entity in any Workforce-type application. (Either using Workforce Planning, or a custom Planning solution) Assuming you get rid of one dimension or the other, you'll end up re-writing so much of Workforce Planning's business rules, web input forms, etc, that you might as well create a custom app.
In addition, you will lose the ability to see an employee's historical data in their old Entity if they move. In other words, if you merge the dimensions, and later move an employee to a new Entity, all of that employee's historical data will move to the new Entity. Your historical Entity totals will be different.
