Workgroup names are showing up with ASCII characters in them

Hi,
When I view the network I can see all the workgroups and computers however the workgroup names are showing "/032" (without the quotes) where there would normally be spaces. I believe /032 is the ASCII value for a space but I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas?

JaimeMagiera wrote:
Are these all groups shares from one OS X Server? What version? What happens if you reset a Workgroup's name using DSCL?
This isn't an OS X Server. Not sure how the topic got moved here. Those are all windows workgroups containing windows computers with shares.

Also, did you generate these workgroup's somehow when you created them (like via script)?
They automatically populate in the network when connected

  • Username with ascii characters

Hello, i'm having and html form and i would like the user in
the username field to type ONLY ascii characters.
For example, in other fields of the form i
would like the user to type his mother language but
as far as the username and password fields are concerned
the characters have to be ascii.
How am i supposed to check when the username is accepted/correct (*consists of ascii characters*)?
and which are the desirable characters a username must have (e.g. *?* is a desirable character in a username , *:* this one?)
    Thanks, in advance!

and which are the desirable characters a username must have (e.g. *?* is a desirable character in a username , *:* this one?)I don't understand this. You have already said they must be ASCII. You have other requirements? Fine, go ahead and program them and ask questions if you have problems with that. Personally I don't think that requiring somebody to have a question mark in their user name is a good idea -- but probably you didn't mean it when you suggested that.

  • Outlook voting responds with ASCII characters

Issue: A user sends an e-mail with the voting options configured. When the recipient responds without editing the response, the reply comes back with a bunch of Asian,etc... ASCII characters. If the response is edited, the response looks normal. This is
happening for multiple users on multiple Outlook version. Is there a default template that has gotten corrupted somewhere? How is the default reponse formed that I might fix this?

    Hi,
Which type of email account is the user using?
If we check the vote response message from web access, can you see the unreadable characters?
We can also try to change the encoding to check if the unreadable characters will disappear. To do this, open the vote response, click 8) or Western European (Windows).
Please let me know the result.

I am excited that web links now show up as hyperlinks. However, when I export a .pdf of the document, the hyperlinks end up with a box around them that makes them unreadable.
Any idea how to get rid of the box. It doesn't show up in the original document. Only when you view invisibles.

    Dennis,
you are right with your thought. I am thankful for every info to get better in every way. The posts in the Pages Discussions are easy to understand and so it should be. Wow, I can tell you, that this is very different to some 3D forums.
After I know how to start the English version of Pages (thank you Matthias, this was a very good advice), I think most people can follow my explanations better, without the time of waiting for your title translations

  • All but 3 of my songs have been removed from my library. The names are still there with exclamation points in front of them. How do I get them back?

This happened when I upgraded to the new iTunes.

The exclamation  marks mean that iTunes can't find the files.
First check that your music files are on your Pc, usually they will be,
    Open iTunes.
Right click on one of the tracks with an exclamation mark and select get info.
Answer "No" when iTunes asks if you want to locate the file.
Get Info should be displayed. Click on the Summary tab if not already there.
You should see the location where iTunes thinks the file is located.
Does this correspond to where the files actually are?
The next thing to check is the loaction of the iTunes Media folder.
    iTunes>>Edit>>Preferences>>advanced tab.
Is it correct? Some time iTunes can default back to a default location for the media folder when you actually have it somewhere else.
Changing a drive letter is another possibility.

I have recently updated my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I have just added three new playlists to my Ipod Shuffle, 3rd generation. On the panel in ITunes in view on the computer, all looks fine and music plays. However, after syncing a million times, when clicking to "hear" the playlists, the voice will call out all the old playlists just fine - except for the 3 new ones I've added; it calls them out as "playlist 3, playlist 8, or "purchased". All software for the ITunes has been updated as of the moment. Why would switching from Vista to Windows 7 cause this frustrating issue? All help appreciated.

From page 23 of your iPod's User Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf
If VoiceOver is disabled in iTunes, you hear an abbreviated menu of playlists in numbered order, but not by name (for example, “Playlist 1, Playlist 2,” and so on).
So you'll want to make sure VoiceOver is enabled to correct this.

I have a Classic iPod with current software and I am running iTunes 10.5.3.3. On my device there are Podcast subscriptions but all of the podcasts have been deleted from them. Is there a way to get rid of the header (i.e. the Podcast subscription title)?

This has happened to a number of users lately.  Usually the only way to remove them to restore the iPod to factory settings.

  • SSID with special characters showing up in place of the letters

On a Win 7 machine the SSID list of available wireless networks is showing up with special characters in place of the normal letters in the name of the SSID... It has nothing to do with the Linksys Router, it is a problem on this computer. It makes it impossible to connect to a wireless network. I removed the device and reinstalled it hoping that might help. I can't find any viruses, (Known Viruses) Has anyone here seen this before? I am atttaching a photo of this. Any help appreciated.

I removed the device and reinstalled it hoping that might help. I can't find any viruses, (Known Viruses) Has anyone here seen this before? I am atttaching a photo of this. Any help appreciated.
Is this the only computer having a problem? How many wireless devices are connected and working to the router right now?

Though i am still gona try using the same Itunes. Will same Itunes support two apple ids.
That depends on what you mean. If you mean two iTunes Store accounts, no. Only one Apple ID can be logged into the iTunes Store at a time and if automatic download, iTunes Match or re-downloading of content is used the ID can not be changed for 90 days.

So i guess if i solve my goof up on creating different apple IDs and setting her phone as a new one .. according to you that shall do the trick.
But i have a question here in that case what happens to all the applications that have been purchased on my Id ? Wont i be needing them to be purchased/downloaded again in the new id?
If you previously had been using the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases for both of you there is no reason to change what you've been doing. If this is your wife's first iPhone, and you want to share the iTunes Store account just don't use the new Apple ID you created. As long as there are no purchases on it there's nothing to worry about.

  • How do I enable flash and java on firefox23 as I have the latest versions installed yet the plugin page shows "disabled" with no option to enable

I have updated to Firefox 23 and it disabled my Java and Flash plugins. I then updated these to Flash 11.8.800.94 and Java to Version 7 Update 25. Now these are showing up on the plug in page but are showing "disabled" with no option to enable. How do I enable them to view content on the web.

Thanks Philipp but i have already done that and the content started working...
However, when i closed and restarted the browser it returned back to the same settings...
I dont think that should happen, but anyway thank you for the solution. At least I can use it by resetting the values if need be
    Appreciate your help

  • Email Issue with wrong characters

I tried to adjust the size and font on my email as it was hard to read and now some of my incoming email has strange characters in them. There are capital AAAAAAAAA with a box around them. I was wondering what I did wrong and what the default fonts/sizes are so I can change it back. This is my first Mac so please be gentle.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.

  • Customer names with cyrylic characters are wrongly shown in Bex Analyser

Customer names with Cyrillic characters are wrongly shown in Bex Analyser. The master data is correctly maintained and extracted\loaded by BW for these customer (Master Data object is correct). This might be a Bex Designer issue.
Furthermore, it has nothing to do with the local settings, when copying the name of the customer to Bey Analyzer the name is correctly shown.

    Hi,
We are facing the same problem with the turkish characters, Our system is BW 3.10 (3.30 Cont) and ECC 6.0. The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table level, but not at the RSRT or the Bex level.
The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table, RSRT and Bex level if we load the same record from the Non-unicode Prod system to the Non-unicode BW Dev system, but if we load from the unicode QA system the same record is not displaying correctly.
Has anybody got a solution for this issue
    thanks

  • Which ASCII Characters are acceptable?

I'm trying to clean up my iPhoto library so it'll sync with my iPhone. One possible cause I've seen mentioned here is the use of non-standard ASCII characters in Keywords, Album names, etc.
Can you wise folks provide a bit more info here?
FIRST QUESTION: I'm trying to figure out exactly which characters need to be eliminated. Are the following characters allowed or not?
    . Period
    , Comma
    - Hyphen
    _ Underline
    ( ) Parentheses
    (space)
    & Ampersand
    123 Numbers
These seem like relatively common characters, so I'm hoping I don't have to remove every one of them. It would be especially difficult to remove every "space" from every title.
SECOND QUESTION: Exactly which fields do I need to clean up?
    - Keywords (definitely)
    - Albums?
    - Film Rolls (I hope not)
    - Photo Titles (please say no...)
Please help! Depending on the answers, this could either be a manageable project or a week-long chore.
And by the way... If these characters are verboten, why doesn't iPhoto reject them when I first try to enter the data?

    Adam
Are you actually having a problem?
There is no list, but when I post that query it's because some people who post here have had issues that were solved when they removed non-ascii characters. Others have found issues when they removed leading and trailing spaces... so (where _ stands for a space)
    _keyword
    or keyword keyword_
have caused issues, thought the space between keyword and keyword has not caused issues.
So, here's my (not very helpful, I admit) take on it: non_ascii characters are not a problem, trailing and leading spaces are not a problem, unless, of course, they are.
The real issue seems to be that they lead to a malformed albumdata.xml file, which is the file that other apps read to interact with.
I think the best way to examine the albumdata.xml file is the way that Dave E shows:
