Working of SELECT MIN when data field is blank

Hi expert,
I'd like use the SELECT MIN instruction to take the older data (yyyy/mm/dd).
If by accident I have a Data value = blank, the SELECT MIN does will take it?
I should be sure that the SELECT MIN does not take an initial value.
Thanks for your support.
Claudia

Hello Claudia,
As per my understanding, If a date field has an initial value then by default it will have a value '00/00/0000'. In order to avoid the initial values you can put in where clause 'field is not initial'
Hope this helps.

Himanshu

  • Office 2010 Don't print blank lines when data fields are empty

    How do you do this in office 2010?  Where do we go now?
    This used to be under the Tools menu in previous versions:
    On the Tools menu, click Mail Merge.
    In the Mail Merge Helper dialog box, click Merge.
    NOTE: You must select the main document and data source for the merge before doing step 2.
    In the Merge dialog box, under When Merging Records, click either:
    Don't print blank lines when data fields are empty.
    -or-
    Print blank lines when data fields are empty.
    Click Close in the Merge dialog box, and then click
    Close in the Mail Merge Helper.
    NOTE: If you made no changes in the Merge dialog box, the
    Close button is not available. Click Cancel instead.

    Hi,
    In Word 2007 or Word 2010, you can add
    Mail Merge Helper to the Quick Access bar, and perform the steps then.
    To add the
    Mail Merge Helper command in the Quick Access Toolbar in Word 2007, follow these steps:
    a.
    In Word 2007, click the
    Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options >
    Customize.
    In Word 2010, click File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
    b.
    Click
    All Commands in the Choose commands from, and then click
    Mail Merger Helper in the Choose commands from list.
    c.
    Click
    Add, and then OK.

  • Select-options for date field.

    Hi all,
    i need to give select options for Date field.How can i give that.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ravi.

    Hi Ravi,
    Use the Component WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS to include select options in Web Dynpro ABAP. Follow these steps:
    1. In your Component , "Used Componet" tab add Component WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS . Component Use can be any name that you want to give, eg SELECT_OPTIONS
    2. Go to the View where you want to include the Date Select Options. I am assuming that you already have an Attribute of Type DATS in your context.
    3. View: Properties Tab:Create Controller Usage and select

    I have a numbers spreadsheet for tracking company data.  I want to copy the format of the spreadsheet (rows, columns,and formulas) but have all of the data fields be blank for the new year.  How do I do that?

    click and hold on one cell, then drag to select the range, then release, then type the delete key.  Only inlude cells in the range you do not want to keey the contents of the cell.  You can remove one-off cells by holding the command key and clicking cells to add or remove as needed.
    You can download the Numbers users guide here:

  • Two questions on apex_item.text when date field

    Hi, I have a tabular collection with a date field. I need to have validation on the date field, so wanted to create and authorization (is this the best way). In order to do so, I needed to create an application item (again...is this the best way?).
    I am very new to javascript and use of the ONCHANGE. Is there a way to have a the value of this apex_item.text placed into that application_item? I have tried the following, but it does not work.
    select apex_item.text(6,c006,10,null,
    ||'style="width:100px;background-color:#FBEC5D; "'
    ||'onchange="f_set_start_date(this,f6_'||LPAD (seq_id, 4,'0')||')"') start
    from apex_collection...where.....
    Also, is there a way to force a format for an apex_item.text. I would like it to be in the format dd-mon-yyyy.
    thanks again.

  • Reg:how disaplay selection range for date field

    hi all
    can you please  let me know how to write  the code in wdabap  to display a date field with range option.i mean in abap we use at selection screen  ,but coming to wdabap can you  help how to write the code in wdabap.
    Thanks in advance
    Deepika

    To simplify the requirement, let me consider the followign understanding:
    1. You need few fields in the selection screen. They need to be select options and some parameter fields.
    2. The user clicks the button. You need to read teh user entered data.
    Once, you have teh data in your code, assign it to the context node - attributes. later, you need to decide what you shoudl do with that data.
    Sol: 1. To obtain fields into selection screen, use the component "wdr_select_options" and *** the interface view into your window. Make the view as default.
    Now,  you need to build the select options. Firstly create a method or insert the code in init().
    DATA: lr_componentcontroller TYPE REF TO ig_componentcontroller,
            l_ref_cmp_usage TYPE REF TO if_wd_component_usage.

  • Work flow help - forward a date field by a specified call frequency

    Hi There, I have a 'Last Call Date' field and a 'Call Frequency' picklist with values 'Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly'. I would like to forward another field called 'Next Call Date' according to the call frequency chosen.
    Is it also possible to automatically create a task to make that 'Next Call' and populate my calendar?
    Thanks

    Domenic,
    It won't do what you want it to do, the task due date will only forward from the date the workflow ran. But i do vaguely remember finding in the help files somewhere a way to add to a date. So you could possibly create a new field called forward call date and have the workflow update this date with last call date + x days.
    I found this in the help file under Expression Builder - Today ()
    Today's date and time (for example, 01/02/08 11:15:22).
    It is possible to perform calculations with date-time fields in
    calculated fields. When a number is entered in a date-time
    field, days are represented by integers; hours, minutes and
    seconds are represented by fractions.
    For example, to add one minute to the current date and
    time, use the following expression, which is derived from
    the fact that one day has 1440 minutes:
    Timestamp() + 1/1440
    Can't help any more than this as I've not tried to add to a date field, maybe someone else has another idea?
    Good luck
    cheers
    Alex

  • Working with DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML and date fields

    Hello,
    I'm experiencing problems when loading date fields into the database.
    The date '20020717' in XML uploaded in the database using date format 'YYYYMMDD'
    becomes '20260920'. Is there something that I'm missing here or is this a bug in XSU?
    Versions I'm using
    Oracle XML Parser for PLSQL 9.2.0.2.0 Production
    Oracle 8.1.7.3 Database
    Hopefully the code below makes the question clear.
    PL/SQL part in which I insert the content of XMLClob into the table drtest.
    insCtx := Dbms_Xmlsave.newContext('drtest');
    Dbms_Xmlsave.SETDATEFORMAT(insCtx, 'YYYYMMDD');
    ROWS := Dbms_Xmlsave.insertXML(insCtx,XMLClob);
    Dbms_Xmlsave.closeContext(insCtx);
    Content of XMLCLob in the code
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <DESALID>0000001829</DESALID>
    <DESAPNR>000000000000203997</DESAPNR>
    <DEINCO1>CIF</DEINCO1>
    <DEDELFL/>
    <DESALDT>20020717</DESALDT>
    <DECTRMA>BE</DECTRMA>
    <DESHIPT>BE</DESHIPT>
    <DECTRDP>BE</DECTRDP>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>

    When using date format strings in XSU, the format is defined not with the template for the Oracle DATE character strings, but with the Java SimpleDateFormat templates. Could this be the problem?

  • NVL and replace date when date field is null from table

    I am trying to replace a field with a date default when it is null and it is not working
    I was wondering if someone could give me a clue to what I am doing wrong
    Here is the part of the select statement:
    NVL (o.mass_production_date__c, TO_DATE ('1900-01-01', 'yyyy-mm-dd')),
    It is not replacing a NULL value in o.mass_production_date__c if it is returning null
    o.mass_production_date__c is a DATE format field
    TIA,
    Mike

    Can you post the actual query and screen cature show it's not working.
    Most likely is because your data is not NULL but some empty string.
    The function should work just fine like following,
    TEST@rman> create table t1 (val date) ;
    Table created.
    TEST@rman> insert into t1 values (null);
    1 row created.
    TEST@rman> commit;
    Commit complete.
    TEST@rman> select * from t1;
    VAL
    TEST@rman> select nvl(val,TO_DATE ('1900-01-01', 'yyyy-mm-dd')) from t1;
    NVL(VAL,T
    01-JAN-00

  • When Parameter field is blank

    Hi,
    I am writing a report in Oracle 6i and window 98.
    I have a parameter that allows me enter the customer's name and get the data associated with this name.
    Is there any way that I can do:
    1)if I enter a specific customer's name, I can get the data only about this customer;
    20if I leave the parameter blank, I can get ALL customers' data.
    Thanks,
    Jun

    hi jun,
    you can do it this way also
    in sql query you write a where condition as follows
    WHERE TABLENAME.CUSTNAME LIKE NVL(UPPER(CUSTOMERNAME),'%')
    CUSTOMERNAME is your user parameter name.
    this works fine for your problem.
    Hope this is useful for you.

  • SSRS find max of converted date field

    Hi
    My SSAS source has a date field in this for mat dd/MM/yyyy which is stored as a string.
    In ym report when I find the MAx of this field it is doing it by the day rather than the date.
    I have tried the following but it doesn't seem to work it just errors on the report, how can I get this to work.
    Thanks
    =MIN(FORMAT(datevalue(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value),"dd/MM/yyy"))
    when converting say 28/10/2013 it is saying the date is not valid so I think it is trying to do mm/dd/yyyy

    Hi aivoryuk,
    Based on your description that you have problem by using the expression "=MIN(FORMAT(datevalue(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value),"dd/MM/yyyy"))" to convert the string date fields "dd/MM/yyyy" to date type  "dd/MM/yyyy" and
    get the minimum date ,right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by the CDate("dd/MM/yyyy") function is not invalid, the CDate() function not support the format "dd/MM/yyyy", but support this format "MM/dd/yyyy",
    so you can add an calculated fields which have the changed format date of "MM/dd/yyyy" first.
    Details information for your reference:
    Right click the DataSet(DataSet1) and select the "Add Calculated fields" to create the New fields:
    Name:NewDate
    Value:using this expression to get the "MM/dd/yyyy" formatted date:
    =split(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value,"/")(1)&"/"& split(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value,"/")(0)&"/"&split(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value,"/")(2)
    Modify the current expression "=MIN(FORMAT(datevalue(Fields!DDMMYYYY.Value),"dd/MM/yyy"))"
    as below:
    =Format(MIN(CDate(Fields!NewDate.Value),"DataSet1"),"dd/MM/yyyy")
    OR you can using this expression:
    =Format(Min(DateValue(Fields!NewDate.Value),"DataSet1"),"dd/MM/yyyy")
    Note: this function Min() can add an scope as needed like Min(CDate(Fields!NewDate.Value),"Scope")
    Preview you will get the proper result:
    If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask.
    Regards
    Vicky Liu
    Thanks Vicky that worked a treat.
    What I also did was to bring into the cube the date field as a date (yyyy-mm-dd) format and then used and then used Vikash16 suggestion that also works.
    Nice to have a couple of solutions.

  • How do I populate my date fields placed on Master Page for multiple pages?

    I have a dynamic form with flowing fields. I inserted date fields using the Master Pages tab within Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2, Windows 7 OS. I have only 1 Master Page. Everything on the form is working properly, except when I have multiple pages, the date fields are blank on all but the first page. One of the date fields has javascript in the exit event to calculate the second date field. I can manually edit the subsequent page(s) date fields, but I don't want the end user to have to do that. I want the date fields on the new pages to equal the date fields on the first pages. Below is my output with notes to provide a visualization of what I'm looking for.
    Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with this issue!
    Caroline

    Hey Mandy,
    Yes, both date fields are on the Master Page. The first one is set to "User entered - Required" and the second to "Calculated - User Can Override"
    And that's right, I used your script to calculate the second date field. The only thing I changed was the field name, and used 6 days instead since I wanted the calendar days to only run a full week, like start on a Monday and end on Sunday.
    Thx,
    C

  • How to manipulate Date Fields of MSSQL server

    I build a database link from my oracle Database to an sql Server , i can run any select statement that i want with no problem but when i try to run the above :
    select empl."emp_id", "emp_code", "emp_first", "emp_last" ,
    "empio_dtin", "empio_dtout", "section_id",
    to_date ( "empio_dtin" , 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
    from "dbo.employees"@ATERMON empl INNER join "dbo.empio"@atermon empio on empl."emp_id" = empio."emp_id"
    where "empio_dtin" > '05/01/09'
    order by "section_id", "emp_code"
    i took the message :
    ORA-02070: database ATERMON does not support TO_DATE in this context
    The problem is the time because when i run the select statement the date fields brings as value only the dates values for example "01/05/09" without the time value that i need most,
    i try to insert the values into an oracle table with Date format fields but i take only the dates values again.

    Is the empio_dtin field defined with a date datatype or a character datatype?? If the field is a date, try using TO_CHAR instead of TO_DATE:
    to_char ("empio_dtin" , 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
    Assuming that empio_dtin is defined as a date datatype, you might want to try directly converting the string '05/01/09' to a date rather than letting Oracle impliciting covert the string to a date.
    "empio_dtin" > to_date('05/01/2009', 'MM/DD/YYYY')

  • Can someone help? Add date to date field.

    I'm trying to make a form so a Starting Day & Date is selected and the following x number of fields are populated with x number days & dates. Example, if Wednesday August 17th 2011 is selected from a date field the field below it will display Thursday August 18th 2011 and the field below that Friday August 19th 2011 and so on.
    I have searched for hours and have found many discussions on this but nothing i under stand or make work. I know little to nothing about this program.
    I have created a Date/Time Field 1 which displays the current date and the following fields are populated with the following dates. However, this is based off the current date. If the fields were labeled Monday - Friday, Monday being the starting date and it was opened on a Tuesday the Monday date would be wrong therefore making the rest of the days & dates wrong.
    Is this really that hard? It doesn't seem that hard but me knowing nothing doesn't help.
    Thanks!

    Here's a possible solution.  Your first field is where you select the date.
    In the next field:
    if (StartDate.rawValue==null) then
    $.rawValue = ""
    else
    Num2Date(Date2Num(StartDate.formattedValue, DateFmt(2))  + 1, DateFmt(2))
    endif
    the next field:
    if (StartDate.rawValue==null) then
    $.rawValue = ""
    else
    Num2Date(Date2Num(StartDate.formattedValue, DateFmt(2))  + 3, DateFmt(2))
    endif
    the next field:
    if (StartDate.rawValue==null) then
    $.rawValue = ""
    else
    Num2Date(Date2Num(StartDate.formattedValue, DateFmt(2))  + 4, DateFmt(2))
    endif
    and so on.
    Not pretty but it works.  I can send you the sample if you'd like
