Workshop 5.0, Sol 2.7/64-bit: "referenced symbol not found"

One of our customers reports that "some" of their Sol2.7 machines cannot run our 64-bit software (compiled with -xarch=v9).
% a.out
ld.so.1: a.out: fatal: relocation error: file a.out: symbol __1cDstdJbad_allocG__vtbl_: referenced symbol not found
Killed
On the machines where our stuff doesn't run, this message is seen with all of the executables we provide, and even with trivial test programs. The same symbol name is shown every time.
We are using
% CC -V
CC: WorkShop Compilers 5.0 98/12/15 C++ 5.0
and ldd on a test program shows this:
% ldd a.out
libCrun.so.1 => /usr/lib/sparcv9/libCrun.so.1
libm.so.1 => /usr/lib/sparcv9/libm.so.1
libw.so.1 => /usr/lib/sparcv9/libw.so.1
libc.so.1 => /usr/lib/sparcv9/libc.so.1
libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/sparcv9/libdl.so.1
/usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-4/lib/sparcv9/libc_psr.so.1
Any ideas? Thanks.

Try a 'ldd -r' on your shared library. My bet is you will receive tons of unresolved symbols. You have to eliminate them all. In my case, -lCrun helped a lot and reduced the number of missing symbols radically. Some were still missing, though, and I was quite sure to take care of those with -lCstd (Note that the manual says that both are included by default...). Didn't help, but I just found a hint that the libC shipped with Solaris might need a patch...

  • Photoshop CC (64 bit): Entry Point not found

    Hi,
    Just updated the Photoshop CC (64 bit) and after update the whole thing does not work anymore. When you try to start Photoshop CC you get an ugly message stating:
    Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point
    ?ProposeSearchBounds@StructuralImageEditing@@YA?AVBox@1@AEB ...
    could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64bit)\Photoshop.exe
    Any ideas? I really need the P CC so any help is valuable! The platform is Windows 8 / 64 bit and the P CC used to work..
    Update:
    The 32-bit version of P CC works. So it is only the 64 bit version that does not start.

    @ Talha1997,
    Please follow the below mentioned steps let me know if they work:
    1. Uninstall current Ps CC app, If there are any issues with CC uninstall then run the Cleaner tool to remove Ps CC :http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html .
    2. Restart your system
    2. Install Ps CC app from Creative Cloud
    3. Do not launch Ps
    4. Update to 14.1.2 via the Creative Cloud desktop application
    5. Once the updates are successfully applied, Launch Ps CC to verify.
    If it does not work please let me know, I would try to resolve it over a connect session.

  • "64 bit Win 7 not found on disc or drive"

    Hi
    I very reacently bought an 27-inch iMac (late 2013), that I want to bootcamp. I have 'bootcamped' macs before, a couple of them, and I am familiar with the process.
    However...
    After opening bootcamp assistant and all that, I get a message when I press continue (right before entering the partition process), which says something like "this platform require 64 bit windows 7 which could not be found on the DVD or the USB drive...". I have used the same disc when I bootcamped a MacBook Pro and a MacPro (both mid 2012, non of them running mavericks), I researched a little and learned that (probably) my win 7 disc contains both 32 and 64 bit, and that the iMac (with mavericks) rejects the 32 bit stuff. Does anyone know how to fix this, or how to fix the disc??
    Thanks,

    Same thing here, but triyng to creat a windows 8.1 USB install disk.

  • Entry point not found - iTunes 10.7 for Windows (64-bit) reinstall

    After ignoring iTunes update prompts for about 2 years, I recently tried updating to the latest version (12.1) without success.  After searching for solutions to this problem online, I decided to uninstall iTunes and try reverting back to iTunes 10.7 for Windows 64-bit (on my Windows Vista laptop).
    At this point I have installed, repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired the 10.7 version and am still unable to access iTunes.  When I try to launch iTunes, I get the following error messages:
    "iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point CMTimeRangeMakeFromDictionary could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll."
    When I click OK, I then get:
    "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (Windows error 127)"
    (As I stated above, reinstalling hasn't worked!)
    In my online troubleshooting searches, I've found posts regarding entry point issues but none with "CMTimeRangeMakeFromDictionary" or "CoreMedia.dll" in them.  I'm unsure what to do next (should I attempt iTunes 12.1 again?), and my biggest concern is that I will somehow lose all my music.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you

    Entry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. CoreMedia.dll is part of Apple Application Support.
    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
    which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
    Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
    I understand none of the HP drivers will fully install.
    I will be happy to help you.
    Are you signed in as the Administrator of the computer?
    I would turn off all start up programs to make sure there isn't something blocking the printer.
    Click on start, in the search box type in run, enter, then type in msconfig, click OK.
    Click the Services tab.
    Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
    Click Disable All, and then click OK.
    Then click on the start up tab at the top.
    Click on disable all.
    Reboot the computer.
    Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
    Then run the installation again by right clicking on the setup and selecting run as Admininstrator.
    Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Try printing now.
    Then go back into msconfig and enable the All Microsoft Services and enable all on the start up tab.
    Turn the Antivirus software back on again.

    I've installed three times with no luck. I downloaded the Creative Cloud Packager off the licensing site: https://licensing.adobe.com. I unpacked and choose my applications. The install seemed to be successful, but I don't so any of the applications anywhere.

    Hi,
    Creating package doesn't mean it will install the product,
    You will need to install the package now. Please follow the instructions mentioned in the below articles
    Creative Cloud Help | Creating or editing packages
    Creative Cloud Help | Deploying packages
    Please let me know if it doesn't help.

  • Windows 8: Bit Locker encrypted drive "Not Found" or "Access Denied"

    I just upgraded my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro. C drive is not Bit locker protected, but D drive is. When I go to Computer and double click on D drive, it tells me one of two errors: 1) Application Not Found (more common), or 2) Access is Denied
    (less common).
    I thought maybe Bit locker wasn't working, but I plugged in my USB stick that is encrypted and had no issues; it asked for the password and opened the folder.
    One thing I did earlier was to setup a new local account, give it administrator password, then delete the other account that I had originally used in Win7 (and in installing Win8). Maybe this caused some sort of security problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    I have been using Bitlocker since it was available with Vista Ultimate.   I have had the same password to unlock my drive for 5 years. I NEVER keep my recovery key this drive. but just last month i copied all my data to another drive formatted
    it to freshen it up and copied it back over. For some reason i kept the recovery key TXT file....  when i tried your method here due to the same exact problem listed the command prompt would not allow me to enter a password in CMD or powershell. Since
    i had the recovery key .. THANK GOODNESS it unlocked perfectly and i was able to retrieve my 6 years of Data.  So yes, this works and works well.  thank You!

  • SOLVED: installing firefox-3.6.28 on 64-bit debian multiarch - "firefox-bin: not found"

    summary: I must run a firefox-3.x to telework, and I run debian at home. I previously had firefox-3.6.28 installed and running on an up-to-date debian, but mistakenly destroyed that install. I have reinstalled the OS, and reinstalled firefox-3.6.28, but it will not run:
    <pre>
    $ /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/firefox -no-remote -ProfileManager &
    > [1] 8297
    > $ /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/run-mozilla.sh: 143: exec: /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/firefox-bin: not found
    </pre>
    details:
    As detailed in a previous question
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931873
    my workplace forces me to run a firefox-3.x in order to install a plugin (F5NAP) that provides remote access. (While the question above suggests that a firefox-8.x would also be an option, the latter is not in fact compatible with my workplace's servers' configuration.) I previously was able to do this first ~2 years ago, as indicated in the question above, on a 64-bit PC with debian=wheezy/sid (distro=LMDE==Linux Mint Debian Edition).
    About a month ago, that older PC developed severe problems, so I began to setup a newer PC, which must also run the VPN, and therefore firefox-3.6.28+F5NAP. The new box is running
    <pre>
    $ uname -a
    Linux box 3.11-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.11.8-1 (2013-11-13) x86_64 GNU/Linux
    $ lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: LinuxMint
    Description: LMDE Cinnamon Edition
    Release: 1
    Codename: debian
    $ cat /etc/debian_version
    jessie/sid
    </pre>
    Note that the new box is also 64-bit, but (unlike the old box) is running the latest debian with multiarch support
    https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch
    (whereas the old box used package=ia32-libs). I was able to install firefox-3.6.28+F5NAP on the new box as detailed here
    http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=164522
    Unfortunately I later misconfigured LVM, forcing me to reinstall everything :-( I have LMDE and most applications installed (from APT, with packages currently up-to-date) and everything appears to work (particularly the firefox-28.0 which I am using to ask this question). However this time I'm getting a very different error when I run firefox-3.6.28.
    I'm installing and running firefox-3.6.28 with the following bash scriptlet (which is how I installed it previously):
    <pre>
    FF_VERSION='3.6.28'
    LINUX_VERSION='i686' # since there is no 64-bit build of this version of firefox

    BUILD_DIR="/tmp/${FF_WITH_VERSION}"
    UNZIP_DIR="${BUILD_DIR}/firefox"
    INSTALL_ROOT='/usr/local/share'
    INSTALL_OWN='root:staff' # like peers on new LMDE, not 'root:root'
    INSTALL_DIR="${INSTALL_ROOT}/${FF_WITH_VERSION}"
    EXEC_FP="${INSTALL_DIR}/${EXEC_FN}"
    EXEC_ARGS='-no-remote -ProfileManager'
    # `tar j` == bzip2

    "sudo mkdir -p ${INSTALL_ROOT}" \
    "pushd ${BUILD_DIR}" \
    "wget -O - ${URI} | tar xfj -" \
    "find | wc -l" \
    "popd" \
    "sudo mv ${UNZIP_DIR} ${INSTALL_DIR}" \
    "sudo chown -R ${INSTALL_OWN} ${INSTALL_DIR}/" \
    "du -hs ${INSTALL_DIR}/" \
    "ls -alh ${EXEC_FP}" \
    "${EXEC_FP} ${EXEC_ARGS} &" \
    ; do
    echo -e "$ ${CMD}"
    eval "${CMD}"
    done

    but it does not run:
    <pre>
    $ /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/firefox -no-remote -ProfileManager &

    </pre>
    But as noted above, /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/firefox-bin clearly exists, and is in the same directory as /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/run-mozilla.sh , and both have the same permissions. Am I missing something?
    If not: how to fix, or further debug, this problem?
    Your prompt assistance is appreciated, since I can't telework until I get this fixed :-(

    For the solution's full description, see this post to debian-user
    https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2014/05/msg00243.html
    (in a quite illuminating thread starting here
    https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2014/05/msg00126.html
    ) But the solution was mostly
    <pre>
    me@it ~ $ ldd /usr/local/share/firefox-3.6.28/firefox-bin
    not a dynamic executable
    # libc6:i386, dependencies, and recommended from `aptitude -s`

  • Indesign CC 64-Bit UI is not displaying correctly

    I have just installed Indesign CC 64-bit and I am having trouble getting the UI to display at the correct resolution.  It is fuzzy and unclear
    I have added a screenshot of a comparrison between the proper resolution from the 32-bit version side by side
    I would be happy if it was a simple as an improper setting but I cannot locate anything.
    I have also tried forcibly resetting the settings without any luck.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!
    R

    Seeing as this was an initial startup issue rather than a preferences issue I took my chances with this forum first.  If I cannot get help here I will then try the ID forum.
