Workstation policy not appearing in wmsched.exe

I have installed the desktop management client to a number of workstation
and they are registered in the workstation container in Console1. These
workstatioons will not inventory. I have looked in wmsched.exe on them
and it is empty. I have checked the workstation inventory policy and it
is configured to run from Monday to Friday from 9.00 for 14 hours. I have
tried to force a full scan with no effect. Any ideas?

  • Workstation Policy not applying completely

I have created a Workstation Policy for my WinXP SP2 machines. In testing
this policy I associated it with a few workstations. I noticed that the
policy seems to work partially. An example being, I have the policy set to
remove "My Network Places" from the desktop but it does not remove it, but
most of the other restrictions that are set by this policy seem to apply
    normally.
I have a user policy set the same way and it works fine. Any ideas?

    Rolf,
Thank you for responding. I believe you are correct about this. One problem
I see at this point is, I did have my Workstation Package set to run at user
login. I changed this to run when desktop is active, but when I check the
the Workstation scheduler on the workstation, it does list my workstation
policy package as having ran but it still shows that it is scheduled to run
at user login. I remove the workstation association to the the workstation
package, reversed the policies on the workstation using another policy
package we have setup to reverse the settings. I then reassociated the
workstation with my worstation policy package which is set to run when the
desktop is active. But in the scheduler it showed that the workstation
policy still ran at user login. If I look at the policy package in Console
One it does show that it is set to run when the desktop is active and not at
user login. So I am not sure why this is. I hope that I won't have to delete
this package and recreate to resolve this. Any suggestions are greatly
    appreciated.

  • Import/removal policy not working javax.naming.NameNotFound

Hi, i am experiencing some problems with my import/removal policy...more so the removal workstation policy not working.
When the policy schedule time initiates - the following shows up on the zenworks removal workstation removal screen:
    30-Oct-2009 17:35:39 javax.naming.NameNotFoundException [Root exception is com.novell.service.jncp.NDSException: ccode = -601 (0xfffffda7)]
I keep seeing this on the screen and in the zenwsrem.log file.
    I am running:
    Zenworks 6.5 sp2
    Netware 6.5 sp5
Can anyone help as i want to keep my tree clean from all the thousands of workstation objects that are generating and are mostly redundant.
Any help with this would be very helpful.
I do not know why this is happening...i have read a few tids, but the naming of my container does not use any special characters, just "Workstations".
    regards
    Dennis

Did any of the removals succeed?
    i.e.
    20-Sep-2009 23:00:31 Removed workstation:T82715.Workstations.BilletRd.WF
    20-Sep-2009 23:00:32 Removed workstation:T87490.Workstations.BuxtonRd.WF
    20-Sep-2009 23:00:32 Removed workstation:T87810.Workstations.BuxtonRd.WF
    Are they still in eDir?
I'm assuming that edir is clean.. so the only other thing that would come to
mind is that the server/workstation policy doesn't have rights to delete
from the OU's your workstations are in?
I didn't go thru the log exactly line by line, but it looks like its always
    bombing on workstations in
    your BuxtonRd.WF and CecilRd.WF containers.

With that one, first try uninstalling and reinstalling your MobileMe Control Panel for Windows, robin. Does that make the error go away?

    what can in do?

Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4  from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up.

  • Msg_server.exe not appearing in SAP management console

    Hi Experts,
First of all I want to tell you that I am new to BASIS activities. I am trying to learn installation and error handling.
I have installed R3 Enterprise 4.70x 2.00 SR1 on Win SQL Server and everything was successful. Now when I try to start SAP from console, msg_server.exe does not appear in the process list and dispatcher status is u201CRunning but message server unreachableu201D. Also in WP Tables, I can only see two DIA processes.
I can give you developer trace file dev_ms and dev_w0 for your reference if you need them.
    Thanks in advance,

Everytime I send an email the warning box appears--- WebKit2 WebProcess, exe has stopped working. Then I hit close program and it shuts me out of my inbox.
If I don't close the warning box my computer stay s in limbo. What is is? It is not in my control panel and does not come up as a program in my computer.
    Help?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

  • Windows 2008 R2 group policy not applied to windows 8 Workstations, but applied to XP and Win 7

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controllers and have a Policy to put a specify wallpaper, eventuality i have to change the Wallpaper, this setting applied sucesfully in Windows xp and Windows 7 workstations, but not applied in Windows 8 workstations even
    if i run gpupdate /forcé,
    Best Regards,
    Thank you

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in the forum.
Before going further, would you please let me know how did you configure the Group Policy setting to deploy the wallpaper? Have you configured some settings to limit the scope the GPO applying?
If all Windows 8 machines failed to receive the GPO settings? In order to narrow down the cause of the issue, I suggest we could try to collect the following information for troubleshooting.
    GPMC.log
    ==================
    a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
    b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper
    user in the wizard)
    c. Right click
the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
Once we get the report, please check if the settings have been applied to the target correctly.
In addition, would you please let me know whether you have imported the latest Windows 8 Administrative Templates to the Windows Server 2008 DC? If not, please try to download and import it.
Then try to configure the wallpaper GPO settings again to see if it could help.
For details, please refer to the following articles.

  • Group Policy not Applying

Currently we are running ZfD 7 and Netware 6.5 and have recently upgraded all our workstations to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Our tree structure consists of an OU for each school level, elementary, middle, and high, and an OU for each school in that respective level. Example:
    Elementary
    West Main
    South Main
    Middle
    Brown Middle
The current contents in each School OU have users, groups, policies, ect. Previously policy was applied by a workstation policy package that distributed all policies: user, machine, and security which were associated with the School OU. Now we split the policy into workstation packages and a user packages. The goal was to have the workstation apply the machine and security policy and the user policy to apply user settings and create dynamic the local user account.
The workstation policy remains persistent on the workstation while the user policy creates a local user (non-volatile) and applies the user policy from a server path depending on group membership. We have four different user policy packages: Student, Teacher, Specialist and Technology. Each with there own group policy user configuration. Everyone in our Tree has the appropriate permissions to access the policies. We configure the user policy package as follows:
    Policies  Windows XP
    Enabled Dynamic Local User
    Enabled Windows Group Policy
    Workstation Manager
    Network Location
    \\serverpath
    Checked User Configuration
    Policy Schedule
    User Desktop is active
    Advanced Schedule
    Impersonation
    Interactive User
    Associations
    Groups (Teachers, Students)
I can get the workstation policy to apply with no problem. The problem comes when a users logs on. It doesnt matter if a new user is being created or if they are simply just switching users. User group policy doesnt apply randomly. The strange thing is it does copy down to the machine. If I connect to the admin share on a newly imaged workstation (with no policy applied) and open c:\windows\system32\ you see the creation of GroupPolicy.Usercache Folder and it copies to the GroupPolicy Folder which is were it applies policy from. Also you can see policy dynamically changing if different users logs on. The Registry.pol updates in the c:\windows\system32\ GroupPolicy.Usercache\User folder and c:\windows\system32\ GroupPolicy \User Sometimes group policy applies and sometimes it does not. When a user logs on you see the policy that was copied down apply. For example the run option is taken away from the start menu. During the log on process this remains in effect but when the process completes its almost like policy is take away. When this occurs I can run WMSCHED.Exe and reapply the user policy and it will apply sometimes. I tried applying group policy through both groups and organizational units. Both with the same results. I was wondering if anyone has had issues with applying group policy with ZEN or if I am doing this incorrectly. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Workstation policies not refreshing...

    Hi,
We have a number on workstations in one area of our university whose desktop policies do not refresh following build/rebuild.
Workstations are members of a group and a policy package is associated with that group which deploys printers and makes some tweaks. The workstation can be rebooted any number of times but the policies don't appear. Run wmsched and click "Refresh" and there they are.
Is there a means of forcing the workstation to refresh its policies (other than by manual intervention) or troubleshooting what might be going on?
We're using Zenworks 7 and Windows XP SP2 and SP3 clients.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

The only way I've ever been able to reliably refresh policy is with a reboot (workstation) or login (user). Some settings will update via the wmsched.exe tool, but not consistently.

  • Policy not being applied to users

I have a group policy that used to work, but now has decided it does not want to be applied to the workstations anymore. I don't know what may have happened to make is stop working.
It's a pretty restrictive policy for students. I have the exact same policy for two other groups of students that still work. All three policies were copied from the same set of files. In other words, I make a change to one, then copy the files to the other two because they reside on different servers. Yes, I do open each one in C1 to update the timestamp.
When I run wmsched, the policy is there in the list, but the settings are not applied. I can log in to the PC with one of the other student accounts and their policy is applied.
The login I'm using to test with has R rights to the policy location - the same rights that the other users have to their policies. I have also tried more rights with no different results.
The DLU part of the policy runs, and I have turned off the windows firewall. I have also created a brand new policy from scratch to rule out any corruption in the old policy and I get the same results.
Apparantly, my workstation policy for this group is not being applied either. The other two groups' policies apply like they are supposed to. So this means that neither policy assigned to this group of students/workstations is working.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Inventory Policy not showing up in the scheduler - XP

We are testing an XP flavor of the company-wide image. I noticed none of
the XP test systems have the Workstation Policy in the scheduler. Zen is
running OK, Windows 2000 clients have the policy in the scheduler, I can
ping zenwsimport. I am using Netware 4.2 SP2 client. One thing I noticed
is that there is no executable called ntscan.exe on the XP systems. I
executed WSREG32, but the machine still did not register itself in
the "Workstations" container. We are using Console One 1.3.5. The policy
packages were created with that version. I only found one TID referencing
my problem...TID10084969....but the solution is not relevant in my case.
Can anyone offer a solution. Please reply to [email protected]
