Would ram help my overclocking?

After reading a lot on the net about this two rams PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 Mhz /7-8-7-24 /1.6 V / Ripjaws-blue / F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM,G.Skill 2 x 2GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 Mhz /9-9-9-24 / 1.5V /Ripjaws-red / F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL I'm now asking if this rams would help me reach my goal O.C. of 3.8ghz,currently I'm stable at 3.59ghz with only my kingston value ram 1333mhz... Which of the two rams would help me gain an extra 200mhz? I'm thinking of getting the red ripjaws because its much cheaper than the blue but it's only c9 compared to the blue c7... I'm asking for advice on which ram should i buy
If you did a search on this forum you would probably find the majority of reports regarding usage of Ripjaws being negative. They have proven to be more trouble than its worth. I myself and Henry and others for that matter have been using these with great success on the H55 platform, Crucial 2X2gb CT2KIT25664BA1339. Mine are currently running at 1550 at 1,49V 8.8.8.20. They are probably the most underrated modules available and will clock with success to 1600, and that at 1,5V instead of 1,65V as is neeeded for your considered modules. You will find that those are overvolted and overclocked 1333 modules at best.
Thats my advice, but you will no doubt receive further feedback on this matter, that may include differing viewpoints. It all depends on the personal experience with mem modules that the respondend has had it the past. Certain Corsair modules also come highly recommended, but HU16E can share his experience with those.

Well they are not freely avialable at all where I am and I actually got mine through family from the UK. But it was worth the wait and hassle.

Unfortunately I need to run XP on my Mac and Im using a parallel, VMware fusion.
However most of the time my Mac crashes or, if doesn't crash, it works VERY slow.

BIt depends mostly upon how much RAM you have allocated to your VM and the amount of RAM the VM software requires. Only one VM application should be used, either Parallels or VM Fusion. Trying to use both will require too much RAM for what you have installed in your computer. It's also critical that you have the most recent version of OS X required by the version of Parallels or VM Fusion that you have installed.
The VM software can require over 1 GB of RAM when running the installed VM assuming you have allocated the minimal RAM needed for the version of Windows you are using. So a system with 2 GBs of RAM is obviously stretching the RAM resource pretty thin. If your particular Mac supports more RAM, then it would be a good idea to install more.
If your MacBook is a Core Duo model, then 2 GBs is the maximum you can install. If you have a Core2Duo model then 3 GBs would be the maximum based on the information you have provided regarding the version of OS X that's installed. Open System Profiler in your Utilities folder and look at the machine ID listed. If it's 1,1 then you have a Core Duo. If it's 2,1 then it's a Core2Duo. -
Does adding RAM help solve iMovie4 jerky playback
I have been reading threads about jerky playback in iMovie4 in large projects, after adding music from iTunes etc. My wife has a monster project and playback during editing has became very eratic. I have emptied cache, repaired the hard drive, repaired permissions etc. I have not tossed iMovie preferences. I have 23 gigs of space on the HD and a 250gig external FW HD that I bought after she started the project on the internal HD. I would like to know from you experts: 1. Would it help to move the project to the larger external HD? 2. Would adding RAM help (currently iMac G5 1.8mhz with 768 megs RAM)? 3. Is there any way to tell if the project will export to iDVD smoothly if it continues to look terrible in iMovie playback? I hate to go through a few hours of rendering for nothing. Thanks so much for your help. I always find good and useful info in discussions.
Mike RyanMichael, there are some very useful applications that I highly recommend to keep your Mac running smoothly. As a defragmenter I use Allsoft's Disk Warrior that also has a very good directory repair feature. Check out also Drive Genius that has a host of useful features. Also get iMovie file fixers, invaluable tool that is free that will allow iMovie to import certain files in audio and photo formats that are greyed out and also has other features. I believe I got mine from Mr. Lennart Thelander in previous posts here. Cache Out is an excellent application to clear out cache files. I also advise you do a regular permission repair from Disk Utility in your Utilities folder that is on your Mac. These are basically my must have applications. As for copying your iMovie project to your external, just drag your entire project folder ( the blue one with the media and star folder(s) in it directly in the external hard drive. I find that iMovie is one application that requires a clean (defragmented) drive with ample space to spare. I defrag my drives if I trash files often from them, or if I notice erratic and jerky performance or slowness in response. I hope that some of my suggestions will help your in your editing.

like it says in the title, I keep having the error 16 code when I try to use any of my CS6 design and web premuim tools. I have done the uninstall and re install, I have gone through and changed my folders like the walkthrough says. I really like using this stuff but right now I really feel like I want a refund. anyone out there able to help fix it?

Need help finding overclocking settings in BIOS on my Z97 Gaming 7
Hello Folks!
As the title states I need some help finding some settings in the BIOS to help in overclocking on my awesome new MSI Z97 Gaming 7 mobo! For instance I can't find anything related to Load Line Calibration, LLC. I am unable to find additional settings for PLL and what the settings that are there do, for instance CPU PLL, the options are something like LL and SB? There is no explanation for what either of these are. These may be pretty basic things in overclocking Intel. I should also mention that I am new to Intel processors and their mobo's. I have always used AMD cpu's and overclocking seemed a bit more straight forward. This is also the first MSI motherboard I have owned so I am also new to these. I have been a great fan of MSI GPU's for years and finally had the chance to buy a motherboard and while it has been a great experience thus far I seem to be slighty behind the learning curve here. I do appreciate all the help I am able to get. I have read the guides that I have seen others pointed towards and have not really found the information I am looking for there.Nichrome, thank you for the heads up concerning placing my rig info into my signature, I will do that immediately. Thanks for trying to help. I really do appreciate it. I am very familiar with overclocking on the AMD platform. I have previously owned and abused the PhenomII 965BE, 1055T FX-8320 and FX-8350. I guess switching from AMD to Intel and being confronted by so many new terms and settings in the BIOS I was kind of lost. I wasn't really too concerned with the PLL per say other than just desiring to know as much about my new system and motherboard as possible. I have always been a firm believer that to get the most out of your equipment you need to know it intimately, I guess I will get there with a bit of time and perseverance! I was really mainly trying to figure out where the LLC settings would be hidden or what they would be known as with an Intel based system, this setting is usually quite important when trying to stabilize higher overclocks. I am currently running and tinkering with an OC speed of 4.7-4.8GHz @ 1.275v with temps staying ~55C. I was hoping to push a little further and was trying to give myself the best possible advantage in doing so. Again, thanks for the help and information!!!

Problem with replies in Maverick's mail. Originating emails send fine. When replying to an email (various addresses) the reply is hung up and can not be sent. Option becomes put in draft, delete, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful. Mid 2013 iMac.
I don't know how rare this is. I went a week or so without a problem, and now it's starting to recur. Also, in some instances, an email will look unsent (remain in the outbox on the Treo), but it has been sent, and recipients are replying while I'm trying to figure out what is going on. Further, it will send the same email over and over during this madness.
This is a show stopper. If there isn't a software fix soon, I may chuck this phone in the garbage.

UPDATE: The problem comes and goes. The next day, no changes to the treo, everything workeds. Now i'm suspecting the sprint server, and how it/the phone responds from failing to send while roaming. I've since turned off roaming, and haven't had a problem for several days.

How can I set up multiple spaces (desktops) on my new MacBook Pro 10.9.5? I have six set up on my other computer MacBook Pro 10.8.5 but can't find how to do it on this new one. Would appreciate help on this. Cheers.
It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.

Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

As for shooting, I would use a background, as those wall plates/outlets really draw the eye. A nice piece of dark grey, non-glossy fabric, like perhaps a velvet, could be taped over the wall, behind your subject. If possible, move the subject a bit farther from any background.
Do not be afraid of composing the subject more tightly, so that one sees more of them, and less background. Even with a "talking head" shot, you can get much tighter with the framing.
I would also go for a bit more controlled lighting on your subject. Even placing a white card, or sheet to one side, just to fill in the face, would be better. Just keep it out of the coverage of the camera. A piece of foamcore, or Gator-foam, would work well. Angle it to fill that side of the subject's face.
The audio was recorded in a fairly "hard," or "live" environment. If the mic is camera-mounted, think about hanging some soft fabric, in a V, behind the camera and operator. The camera would be in the apex of the V. A few quilts would work fine. That should help remove the slight echo of the room, and "soften" the sound a bit.

I work in EMS-each call may have 2 or 3 or 10 pages (it varies according to the patient or facility). When I scan each days paperwork to send to billing,I have to make a folder for each date-then I have to make a folder for each call-then I have to drag each scanned doc. into the date it belongs to (after I rename them with the individual case #s) I can't scan an entire days paperwork together because I can't separate them after they are scanned in adobe-would acrobat help me with this or is there some other program I can use? HELP---I'm going to either smash my computer or the scanner or both!!!
See-I don't have a clue--now you know why I am so confused! So sorry!! ok let's see if I can explain correctly-
1. Scan to a network folder-can type in a file name if I want or leave blank (gives it a really LONG name with the date mixed in there)
2. it goes to a scan file on my work computer with my name
3. Then I can rename on my computer (not the scanner)
4. Then I have to open a remote-drag the files to that (the billing girls get it from a folder there)
But the problem is-I can't scan-say if I have 45 documents for that day-all of them at one time and then go to my computer and separate them into different folders-I have to scan each individual case # (each patient has a different #) some may be 1 page some may have 2 or 5 or 10 or whatever-so for each one I have to start at #1 and do all above steps over and over-it takes forever! I want to be able to scan all at one time without keeping them separate and then go to my desk and separate them-I am a dispatcher and answer the phone-and a short time to do paperwork-(this is a new job added to my existing and I am learning!!) I can't stand it taking all day!! also when I rename them it keeps both the new name and the original-good lord do I have a mess. Sorry to bother you but I didn't know which product would help me and It's killing me!

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try. -

i cant login anywhere as all my passwords are saved in firefox, i cant even access teh firefox preference to get my password, it's so sadYou likley have a corrupted Firefox preference or other support file in your User/Library folder.
Programs load these files from the user account to adjust to user specifications, instead of having multiple copies of the same program on the machine.
So when you reinstalled Firefox, it reinstalled the progrma only and the user support files remained from before.
To prove this point, use System Preferences to create another Admin account and log into it, Firefox should run like a charm.
To remove the Firefox support files from the problem user account your going to need to locate these files and delete them one at a time and try FF again and again.
The first one you shoull try is your FF .plist file located in your User/Library folder.
Clicm on the Finder and use the Go > Go to Folder and paste this
~/Library/Preferences
and press Go.
Now scroll down until you see the Firefox or Mozilla .plist file and Trash it, quit and restart Firefox, it will recreate the preference file with default settings you will have to reset it.
Next run through the list of fixes #1-13 here before proceeding.

If you need help deleting other FF files, download the free Easy Find from MacUpdate.com and search for anything "Mozilla" or "Firefox" in your User account only and take your chances you hopefully won't delete your password file in the process.
You should have site passwords written down someplace and locked up tightin case you need them, a computer isn't totally safe and reliable. -
I've been using Mac OS X 10.6.4. I want to install printer driver of Brother DCP -7030 .I tried it online I could not do it. Would you help me providing suggestions. It would be great help.
Dinesh from NepalMac OS X 10.6.8 is the current incarnation of Snow Leopard, and fixes various issues in earlier releases.
Current versions of Mac OS X 10.6 include the necessary printer driver for the Brother DCP-7030 printer (HT3669). (The asterisk footnote on that printer indicates there was a recent update via Software Update, so get to current 10.6.8 and ensure the Brother printer software update has been selected and loaded.)
If you're on the current Mac OS X version and if have the Brother update loaded (from Apple) and if problems with the printer persist, then remove the printer from your current Mac OS X configuraton, and re-add it, and see if that clears the particular issue(s) you're having with this printer.
From experience, the Brother software for Mac OS X is a little odd, and the older software stuff (and particularly around the scanner controls for their multi-function series) were, um, unusual, and a little unstable. Printing generally worked fine, though. Recent versions of the Brother software are working better including for the scaller, but the UIs and the set-up are both still odd. If you're using the box as a printer (I haven't looked at the DCP-7030 features), then you're best using the Brother software that arrives from Apple and not the software from Brother.
Also ensure the printer firmware is current. That's corrected some odd behavior on some Brother printers.
