"WPA Authentication/Association Failed" with RTL8192CU

Hi. I've tried to install archlinux in an old machine but I can't connect to internet by a Tp-link with RTL8192CU. After wifi-menu, I got
WPA Authentication/Association Failed
I've looked this problem in many topics but no one could help me.
I ran
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/supli.conf -B but I got the same error.
Also, I've intalled in my machine (I'm ussing it to write this ) the last realtek driver but I have the same message.
My supli.conf file is:
network={
    ssid="Nami y Javi"
    #psk="f11235813"
    psk=98509e047acfda949510707f068faed3d4196e38db86d698c5ecf604ad6aeaff
and my /etc/network.d/profile.conf is
CONNECTION='wireless'
DESCRIPTION='Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu'
INTERFACE='wlan0'
SECURITY='wpa'
ESSID=Javi\ y\ Nami
IP='dhcp'
KEY=f11235813
Any suggestion. Thanks everybody

thanks for de replies.
I'm sorry but I've tried everything in the post and doesn't work (or I didn't understand how).
I want to connect internet by my wifi receptor. I used wifi-menu.
If I run
dhcpcd -k
dhcpcd  -t 0 wlan0
I got
dhcpcd[1165]: version 5.6.4 starting
dhcpcd[1165]: wlan0: waiting for carrier
And no more.. I have to kill it.
Thanks!

  • Netcfg WPA Authentication/Association Failed

    Hello everybody,
    Yesterday I've installed Arch on my MacBook and after a lot of hassle I managed to get X running. Now, I figured getting my wireless ready...but to no avail. I'm really starting to lose hope since this install has given me a lot of setbacks thus far.
    Anyway, I'm using netcfg to connect to my local network here and I followed all the wikis related wireless networking. I've installed my driver and this seems correct since "iwlist scan" returns all local networks in my area. To start with I've disabled all security temporarily, but even this didn't seem to work. Below my configuration file for my local network is shown:
    CONNECTION="wireless"
    DESCRIPTION="..."
    INTERFACE="eth1"
    SECURITY="none"
    ESSID="bistarac"
    IP="dhcp"
    So when I try to connect to my network using "sudo netcfg bistarac", I get the following output (with debug on):
    ::bistarac up [BUSY]
    Loading profile bistarac
    Configuring interface eth1
    wireless_up stop_wpa eth1
    wireless_up if_up
    wireless_up Configuration generated at /tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf
    wireless_up start_wpa eth1/tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf wext
    wireless_up wpa_check
    ::WPA Authentication/Association Failed [FAIL]
    profile_up connect failed
    Now, the first thing I notice is that there is a whole bunch of WPA stuff going on for an open network...doesn't seem to make sense to me. Also if I set my network up with WPA security and try this again I get exactly the same result. I know that there is a thread about this from a couple of months of ago:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=687722
    But I can't really make much sense from it since I'm not all that into networking. I simply followed the Wiki's about how to get everything done and it isn't working, so either I messed up somewhere along the way or this is (again) some sort of stupid bug. Anyway or another I really hope somebody can help out on this since if I don't get this working anytime soon I'm probably going to give up on Arch on my MacBook.
    It's also worth mentioning that I've used Ubuntu on my MacBook before Arch and my wireless functioned perfectly fine (be it with NetworkManager, which I try to avoid). And for anybody wondering, this is my "lspci | grep Network" output:
    02:00.0 Network Controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03)
    I've installed the drivers using the dedicated Wiki and thus the driver from AUR corresponding to this card, but as I said, iwlist works so I don't think the problem is here.
    Also as far as I know I'm using the latest version of netcfg.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    With kind regards,
    Ivan
    EDIT:
    I've also to tried to manually connect to my insecure network using the method outlined in the wireless Wiki, everything seems to go fine until I try to get an IP-adress using dhcpcd:
    sudo dhcpcd eth1
    dhcpcd: eth1: rebinding lease of 192.168.0.102
    dhcpcd: eth1: broadcasting for lease
    dhcpcd: timed out
    So even this doesn't work...I'm really lost.

    Hrm, you might have been right about the eth0 thing. Now I can at least connect to my network manually, netcfg still doesn't work...here is the dmesg right after I issued the command:

    So to simply put it, this has nothing to do with my driver or network card, because I can manually connect to my network using iwconfig. I'm guessing this is either a configuration issue or a serious issue with netcfg.

  • 4.0.1 to 4.1.1 -- LDAP Directory Authentication Scheme fails

    Using the out of the box LDAP directory authentication scheme that worked fine in v. 4.0.1 is failing in v. 4.1.1. User authentication is failing with 'Invalid Login Credentials'. Debug shows that the User is 'nobody'. Looking at v. 4.0.1, User shows 'Admin'. Also, the 'LDAP test link' is no longer available in 4.1.1 - that's a bummer.
    Example debug 4.1.1:
    4161     426774014496602     nobody     103     101     50     6 minutes ago     0.8562
    Example debug 4.0.1:
    661     3340172823117775     ADMIN     130     101     57     36 seconds ago     0.3298
    Does anyone know if something was changed with the standard LDAP directory scheme? Or am I missing some configuration?

    Hi Julie,
    sorry, there is too little context for me to answer this question. I have no idea where and how you got that debug output, for example.
    As for testing, the LDAP authentication scheme calls wwv_flow_custom_auth_ldap.authenticate. It's no official API and we may revoke the grant in future versions, but in 4.1, you can for test LDAP auth in SQL workshop with
    declare
        l_status boolean;
    begin
        l_status := wwv_flow_custom_auth_ldap.authenticate (
                                     p_ldap_host     => ...host...,
                                     p_ldap_port     => ...port...,
                                     p_dn            => ...dn_string...,
                                     p_search_filter => ...search_filter...,
                                     p_password      => ...password...,
                                     p_use_ssl       => ...ssl_mode... (Y for SSL, A for SSL with authentication, N for no SSL),
                                     p_use_exact_dn  => ...use_exact_dn... (Y or N) );
        dbms_output.put_line(case when l_status then 'authenticated' else 'auth error' end);
    end;Regards,
    Christian

  • N80 "WLAN: WPA authentication failed"

    I have a N80 at 4.0623.0.41 (26/07/2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 63.01) branded (TIM-Italy). No further firmware upgrades are available (on 12-09-2007)
    I would like to connect to my 802.1x academic network that uses certificate
    I installed the certificate set up its reliability.
    Then, I followed the indications found in this forum for EAP-PEAP setting up
    Data Bearer: Wlan
    Network status: Public
    Network Mode: Infrastructure
    Security mode: 802.1x
    Security Settings:
    WPA/WPA2: EAP
    EAP Plug In Settings:
    1. EAP-PEAP
    (other options disabled)
    EAP-PEAP:
    Personal Certificate: Not Defined
    Authority Certificate: IC root CA
    Username in use: User Defined
    Username: *****
    Realm in use: From certificate
    Realm: [blank]
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: NO
    Allow PEAPv2: NO
    EAPs:
    1:EAP-MSCHAPv2
    EAP-MSCHAPv2:
    Username: [entered correctly]
    Prompt password: Yes
    Password: [Entered correctly]
    When I try to connect with these settings I get the following error message:
    " WLAN: WPA authentication failed "
    I tried also other unsuccessful variations such
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: YES
    Allow PEAPv2: YES)
    The system admistrators suggested that the problem could be the certificate that is home-made and maybe it is not completely recognized by Symbian v9.1. But they don’t know how to fix the problem
    Indeed I found two certificates from my institution (Root and Server), apparently identical, but the Root one is recognized while the other no.
    Do you know what I should check inside the certificate to gain insights about the reasons of the authentication failure?
    Is there any symbian network utility that could help to understand which step block the authentication?
    I will appreciate any suggestion
    Thank you in advance

    WPA and EAP works great with the N80 - dont worry
    I have tested and runs alot og Nokia Phones with WiFi and EAP etc.
    I currently uses a N80 fw 4.0707.0.7, and there are a v5 fw also.
    I sugguest you get the 4.07
    You subject informs about WPA but you have set your Security mode: 802.1x
    Change this to:
    Security mode: WPA/WPA2
    Then you should be good.
    Also verify the status: hidden/public this is important
    If you can see the SSID in the WLAN Wiz then its public SSID.
    Try clearing the username in the certificate setup/PEAP
    also try different comination of DOMAIN/USERNAME, DOMAIN\USERNAME, DOMAIN@USERNAME etc
    But I would think that you do not need username in the GENERAL page under EAP-PEAP
    You need username under EAP page/EAP-MSCHAPv2
    I assume you have the certificate installed on the handset.
    HTH

  • Check_ntlm_password:  Authentication for user ['name'] - ['name'] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

    Hi,
    We are running a Mountain Lion Server with Open Directory / LDAPv3, as far as I can tell.  My responsibility is to get my CentOS 6.3 box running Samba v. 3.5.10-125.el6 to authenticate users against the ML / OD box.  I can ssh to the CentOS box OK and I can get Guest access to the Samba share to go OK too.  Also, the OD passwords on the LDAP server are set to 'Open Directory' so I guess that means that they are encrypted and the Samba server is set to send encrypted passwords.  But when a user tries to properly authenticate using either say via a Mac client Finder [Command-K], or smbclient, the Samba server will generate this message:
    check_ntlm_password:  Authentication for user ['name'] -> ['name'] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
    (I am blanking out the user name on purpose).
    Of course there is more to the story, but those are the basics.
    Here are the relevant parts of my smb.conf.  FWIW, the CentOS / Samba box is called Jupiter.
    Thank you,

    Turns out a printer driver installed on an XP (even W2K(?)) was (apparently?) flooding the OS X SMB server to the point of collapse. Uninstalling the "HP Tools" part of the driver cleared it up. The printer is an HP LJ1300. I had downloaded the full driver from HP.com. I don't know if any/all these conditions need to be matched, but: the printer was on the network using an HP print server JetDirect EX Plus, and the computer(s) in question were connecting directly to it (not via a print server). It's been too long ago, but there were always several errors in the System Log (Win XP Event Viewer) that correlated with the errors on the OS X server.
    Proud to say that since that day (10+ months ago) I've not seen it happen again. whew.

  • Getting error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized " for _vti_bin/Authentication.asmx

    Hi All,
    My Web application is FBA application and I am using the lists.asmx services in my custom webpart. To run this lists.asmx service in FBA enabled site we need to use Authentication.asmx service..
    I referred this link:

    I wrote a code as mentioned in this article but now I am getting  error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized " for Authentication.asmx service itself. Can somebody help me why it is not working even everything looks
    correct?
    Thank you.

    Are there any problems with Basic Authentication? I have a test BPC 5.1 SP3 single server installation. When I set the IIS Virtual Directory to use Basic Authentication instead of Integrated Security, I get a 401 Unauthorized. It works fine when I use Integrated Security.

    This issue is not really related to SP3 upgrade it is more a problem of windows. Tos solve this issue please read the follow article from Microsoft and do the steps requested to solve this issue.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926642/
    After rebooting your server your access issue using Basic authentication should be solved.
    This problem happen usually into multiserver environment.
    So I would like to know if you are using domain users with local users in the same time on that computer.
    Because even that can be a problem.

  • Exchange 2010 RPC over HTTPs failing with authentication error

    Hi.  I have my remote.xxx.co.uk domain and autodiscover.xxx.co.uk domain pointing to my SBS2011 server, have ports 25, 80, 443 open.  The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer fails with the below error.
    Outlook will autodiscover happily on the local network, and works fine.  Phones etc do too.
    Outlook at a remote VPN connected site won't connect through autodiscover, but will if you do it manually (ignoring the RPC Proxy settings).  Everything works for a while, but then I guess outlook decides to use autodiscover to complete all the connection
    details, and then these machines can no longer connect to exchange as I guess they decide the speed is too slow and try to connect using RPC instead.
    Users can access OWA happily, and activesync is working on phones etc.
    SSL cert is a wildcard type on my domain, and certs are installed - all green and happy when visiting OWA on both remote.xxxxx.co.uk and autodiscover.xxxxx.co.uk domains.
    I cannot work out why I have an authentication error for RPC?
    Any advice would be great!

    Hi.
    To update.
    I tried to recreate the virtual directories in the Exchange Management Console, using the recreate links and via the shell, but while they were recreated, they did not function as they should due to issues in the meta database.
    I then found the following which worked.
    Looking at the ActiveSync virtual directories, when running the below command, the result showed the directory was there, so I then knew to delete it.
    In EMS I ran,
    => Ran "$site = [ADSI]"IIS://localhost/W3SVC/1/Root/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync""
    Result: Carriage return.
    => Ran "$site"
    Result:
    distinguishedName:
    Path: {C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\V14\Client Access\Sync}
    In EMS I then ran,
    => Ran "$Site = [ADSI]"IIS://localhost/W3SVC/1/Root""
    Result: Carriage return.
    => Ran "$site.Delete("IIsWebVirtualDir","Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync")"
    Result: Carriage return.
    => Ran "$site.SetInfo()"
    Result: Carriage return.
    => Ran "$site"
    Result: Carriage return.
    => Ran "iisreset"
    I then recreated the virtual directories.
    In EMS I ran,
    => Ran "New-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -WebSiteName "Default Web Site""
    Results: Successfully recreated.
    => Ran "iisreset"
    I am not sure exactly, but I did this for multiple virtual directories, and everything came to life just as it should.

  • I have an old iBook (circa 2002) ver 1.12, with 640KB ram, running OS X 10.2.8.  It seems to be running well but we have moved to WPA authentication on our network and the iBook does not seem to be able to handle this.

    Is there a patch, or updated version of OS X, that recognizes wpa authentication?

    thank you for your response!
    I am about to look into the efelix site for the PC, thank you. i'm excited.
    for the mac, me thinks that i am out of luck with updating the driver. on the epson site the most recent drivers for my printer (epson sytlus photo 820) are for OS X 10.1.3 - 10.2.6, and I am running OS X 10.2.8.
    Hmmmm, I downloaded the driver anyway, and it gives me an APPLICATION LAUNCH FAILURE because of a "shared library error" when I try to launch the new drivers. The other thing on the site is a PIM II Plug In - which doesn't look like a driver to me.

  • Image Upload fails with Error 407: Proxy Authentication Required

    Hello,
      I am trying to upload Custom Template Image, however it fails with error :(407) Proxy Authentication Required message. i would have to admit that i am trying this behind a Proxy Firewall. So i do really need to know how to make this work and
    what is that i need to request from the Proxy team to make this working.
    Thanks

    Hello TP,
     Your Suggestion really helped and the upload is working. However because of the bandwidth being low, its showing 2 days. Is there any other approach to get around with this? I have also observed that, if we leave the upload over night , then it will
    show that the Image upload failed with exception. I have managed to rerun the script(same script) in same window, and luckily it continues from where it had failed. This is somehow not a good thing that Microsoft did not provide an option of using Azure VM
    as a template.

  • DDNS Authentication Fails with E2000

    Just purchased an E2000 (Firmware version 1.0.03) to use with DDNS. Much to my surprise there seems to be a problem with saving the password at the confiuration screen.
    Settings;
    - Service Type = DynDNS.org
    - Username = <my user name.
    - Password = <my password>
    - Hostname = <my host name>
    - System = Dynamic
    With the above settings entered and the Update button pressed favourable results are obtained; the router reports that DynDNS.org updates okay. However once the "Save Settings" button is pressed an update fails with the error "Authorization failur bad ID or password"
    Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is the password field limited to certian characters?

    same thing happens for me with my E2000 running 1.0.03.  if i enter my username and password for dyndns into the web interface and click Update, i get the "DDNS is updated successfully" message.  but then i'll immediately press Update again and i'll get "Authorization fails (username or passwords)".
    changing my password on dyndns and then updating my router configs didn't do the trick (which isn't much of a surprise).

  • Creating Open Directory Replica fails with Server Admin Error Value 1127

    Hallo,
    I have seen a lot of similar threads here and they were helpful up to a certain point, but in the end, they did not solve my problem.
    Currently, it comes down to this. The Server Admin Error message ist really meaningless and I could not find a single for the error value on the whole wide web. As such, I switched to the command line versions of the tools involved to geht more meaningful results. It worked. Specifically, creating a replica of an openldap master means using slapconfig.
    When executing
    slapconfig -createreplica master.ourdomain.com diradmin
    as root on the prospective replica machine, I get the following error message:
    ssh command failed with status 127
    That command is not allowed with the root account via public key authentication.
    That makes perfect sense to me, but how is it meant to work then?
    Executing slapconfig as admin tells me that this tool is to be executed as root. On the other hand, root login via ssh is not allowed in Mac OS X by default, which seems fine to me. I even changed /etc/sshd_config on the Open Directory Master machine to "PermitRootLogin yes". However, neither reloading ssh using launchctl nor restarting the whole server made this setting operational. Trying to login from command line as root still tells me:
    root login is not permitted to this machine via public key authentication.
    While this is the current state where I need help urgently, I changed some other things before. I tell about to exclude these issues as possible reason of failure. I got this message for quite a while:
    Replica Setup failed : This machine does not have a valid computer name
    I was sure, this machine meant the target machine, the open directory master, because the domain had changed there once before I had taken over responsibility as an admin in this environment. And in fact, changeip disguised an issue there. The command proposed by changeip to fix the situation did not seem appropriate because this machine is multihomed with a public and a private IP adress. Proper name resolution is available for both interfaces including reverse lookup. I dont like this setup, but it was the only way to get mail service running smoothly. Running changeip on the machine itself using these arguments
    changeip /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 internalIP internalIP old.ours.com current.ours.com
    reported success in updating password server, open directory, both interfaces, hostconfig (which in fact did not change) and samba. It reported an issue with kadmin which is related to Kerberos (we dont use Kerberos yet).
    Changing the hostname of the server using changeip did not solve the issue. I then found the hint to check with scutil. This showed that the Hostname was not set on the prospective replica machine. (A question aside: in how many place is the hostname stored? The traditional /etc/hostname has gone, but seems to be replaces with several other configuration files and databases. I cant see this as an advantage). Setting the hostname using scutil worked fine. However, it did not solve the problem either. At least, slapconfig now started to complain about not being able to log in as root instead of failing from the start.
    I also checked all log files on bboth machines that might have to do with openldap, as there are /var/log/slapd.log, /var/log/system.log and /Library/Log/slapconfig.log. I also checked the log of th layer on top of openldap which is /Library/Log/DirectoryService.server.log. None of them revealed anything noticeable beside a lot of of entries that I have googled in the last few hours and which all dont seem to be associated with the problem in question.
    I will take a break now, but I have to fix this until tomorrow and I hope to get the ultimate hint from you, dear reader.
    Thanks and bye, Christian Völker

    ssh command failed with status 127
    That command is not allowed with the root account via public key authentication.
    Initial OD replication takes place via 'ssh'. If you have 'sshd' configured on the OD Master to authenticate with public keys then the OD replica will not be able to communicate with the OD Master via 'ssh'. You must configure the OD Master to use 'ssh' with password authentication and root login enabled.
    Demote the replica back to standalone. Stop any services that you may have running on the primary network interface. Then stop any services that you may have running on the secondary network interface. In the 'Network' System Prefpane remove the IP number from the secondary interface then deactivate the secondary network interface.
    Assign the private IP address and hostname that you wish to use for the replica to the primary network interface. Assign the 'public' IP number to the secondary interface. Check the DNS to see that the IP address and hostname for the primary network interface resolve both forward and reverse for the hostname of the replica that you have chosen. If it does not, fix your DNS before proceeding.
    In the 'Sharing' System Prefpane, change the name of the machine to the hostname (server.domain.tld) of the replica that you have chosen. Then use 'changeip -checkhostname' to see if the IP/hostname matches. Fix it if it doesn't.
    Then configure the /etc/sshd_config file on the OD master like this:
    \# Authentication:
    PermitRootLogin yes
    PasswordAuthentication yes
    PubkeyAuthentication no
    and the /etc/ssh_config file on the OD replica like this:
    PasswordAuthentication yes
    PubkeyAuthentication no
    Then from the OD replica as the 'root' user issue:
    slapconfig -createreplica <ODMasterIPorFQDN> <diradmin user>
    Make sure that the 'diradmin' user's password contains only alpha-numeric characters -no 'option-characters' or symbols, change it first if it does. Once the process completes, reactivate the secondary interface for the 'public' IP and check the configuration of services that will be using that IP, then start your other services. Secure the 'ssh' service on both machines to disable password authentication and 'root' logins.

    Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine.  It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application
    He got this error
    Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
    and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.
    SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
    He has IIS5 and me too.
    I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
    and in the connection string I have.
    <add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>
    I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SE\levalencia.
    Thats strange.
    The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.
    If you want me to send logs please tellme

    Well here's my problem, maybe you can help. Intermittenly I get a login failed when connecting to a db engine through Server Management Studio using Windows authentication. When this happens the following entries are generated on the server's application event log:
    Event Type:        Error
    Event Source:    MSSQLSERVER
    Event Category:                (4)
    Event ID:              17806

    User:                     N/A
    Computer:          <server name>
    Description:
    Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: <ip address>]
    I've already ensured that the server is set to mixed authentication mode. Oddly enough, the workaround that I've found is that if I remote desktop into the server, log in and then log back out, Management Studio is suddenly able to connect again. No idea why it works.
    As I said before, it is intermitten. Some days it errors on login, other days it doesn't and there are no configuration changes between them. Also, both client and server are in the same domain and same site so there is no VPN or anything in between. I'm really quite stumped. Any help would be great, or if you can point me in the right direction of where to look. Thank you in advance!

  • SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c and Login failed for user''

    I got the following error when tried to connect to local machine in the

    "SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security."
    "Login failed for user''. the user is nothing associated with a trusted SQL server connection."
    questions
    1,if I saw the "SSPI handshake failed ", does it means it must used Kerberos but failed? or it is also possible used the NTLM but failed?
    2,Any ideas for this issue?
    Please click the Mark as Answer button if a post solves your problem!

    Hi Michael,
    Firstly, "SSPI Handshake Failed" error happens usually when connection failed between the server and domain controllers or failed Kerberos authentication. For more details about "SSPI Handshake Failed" error, please review this
    FAQ.
    Secondly, regarding to your error message, it could be caused by loopback check. To resolve the issue, please set the DisableLoopbackCheck registry entry to 1 by performing the following steps.
    1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
    3.Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4.Type DisableLoopbackCheck, and then press ENTER.
    5.Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck, and then click Modify.
    6.In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7.Exit Registry Editor.
    8.Restart the computer.
    There is a similar blog about your scenario for your reference.
