N80 "WLAN: WPA authentication failed"
I have a N80 at 4.0623.0.41 (26/07/2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 63.01) branded (TIM-Italy). No further firmware upgrades are available (on 12-09-2007)
I would like to connect to my 802.1x academic network that uses certificate
I installed the certificate set up its reliability.
Then, I followed the indications found in this forum for EAP-PEAP setting up
Data Bearer: Wlan
Network status: Public
Network Mode: Infrastructure
Security mode: 802.1x
Security Settings:
WPA/WPA2: EAP
EAP Plug In Settings:
1. EAP-PEAP
(other options disabled)
EAP-PEAP:
Personal Certificate: Not Defined
Authority Certificate: IC root CA
Username in use: User Defined
Username: *****
Realm in use: From certificate
Realm: [blank]
Allow PEAPv0: Yes
Allow PEAPv1: NO
Allow PEAPv2: NO
EAPs:
1:EAP-MSCHAPv2
EAP-MSCHAPv2:
Username: [entered correctly]
Prompt password: Yes
Password: [Entered correctly]
When I try to connect with these settings I get the following error message:
" WLAN: WPA authentication failed "
I tried also other unsuccessful variations such
Allow PEAPv0: Yes
Allow PEAPv1: YES
Allow PEAPv2: YES)
The system admistrators suggested that the problem could be the certificate that is home-made and maybe it is not completely recognized by Symbian v9.1. But they don’t know how to fix the problem
Indeed I found two certificates from my institution (Root and Server), apparently identical, but the Root one is recognized while the other no.
Do you know what I should check inside the certificate to gain insights about the reasons of the authentication failure?
Is there any symbian network utility that could help to understand which step block the authentication?
I will appreciate any suggestion
Thank you in advance
WPA and EAP works great with the N80 - dont worry
I have tested and runs alot og Nokia Phones with WiFi and EAP etc.
I currently uses a N80 fw 4.0707.0.7, and there are a v5 fw also.
I sugguest you get the 4.07
You subject informs about WPA but you have set your Security mode: 802.1x
Change this to:
Security mode: WPA/WPA2
Then you should be good.
Also verify the status: hidden/public this is important
If you can see the SSID in the WLAN Wiz then its public SSID.
Try clearing the username in the certificate setup/PEAP
also try different comination of DOMAIN/USERNAME, DOMAIN\USERNAME, DOMAIN@USERNAME etc
But I would think that you do not need username in the GENERAL page under EAP-PEAP
You need username under EAP page/EAP-MSCHAPv2
I assume you have the certificate installed on the handset.

E61: WPA Authentication Failure
I have been using WLAN on my Nokia E61 with my Zyxel 660HW-T1 for a few days, but today I repeatedly got WPA Authentication Errors. Checking the logs showed these failed connections, but showed that 0KB had been sent and received (and there was no sign of the WLAN symbol during these failed connections). How can WPA authentication fail with no data transmitted? The E61 seems to remember the first failure then say there is a WPA authentication failure without bothering to try to connect. To test this I changed the SSID of the WLAN on the Zyxel and the E61, and it connected. I changed back to the old SSID and it failed to connect until later in the day. I have the latest firmware on the E61 (3.0633.09.04). It seems that Nokia have a lot more work to do on WLAN to make it reliable.
Also, this connection failure seemed to remove the WLAN form the Access Point Groups and disabled the automatic checking of email. Why, there is no need to do this!?Tell us some more.
‡Thank you for hitting the Blue/Green Star button‡

"WPA Authentication/Association Failed" with RTL8192CU
Hi. I've tried to install archlinux in an old machine but I can't connect to internet by a Tp-link with RTL8192CU. After wifi-menu, I got
WPA Authentication/Association Failed
I've looked this problem in many topics but no one could help me.
I ran
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/supli.conf -B but I got the same error.
Also, I've intalled in my machine (I'm ussing it to write this ) the last realtek driver but I have the same message.
My supli.conf file is:
network={
ssid="Nami y Javi"
#psk="f11235813"
psk=98509e047acfda949510707f068faed3d4196e38db86d698c5ecf604ad6aeaff
and my /etc/network.d/profile.conf is
CONNECTION='wireless'
DESCRIPTION='Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu'
INTERFACE='wlan0'
SECURITY='wpa'
ESSID=Javi\ y\ Nami
IP='dhcp'
KEY=f11235813
Any suggestion. Thanks everybodythanks for de replies.
I'm sorry but I've tried everything in the post and doesn't work (or I didn't understand how).
I want to connect internet by my wifi receptor. I used wifi-menu.
If I run
dhcpcd -k
dhcpcd -t 0 wlan0
I got
dhcpcd[1165]: version 5.6.4 starting
dhcpcd[1165]: wlan0: waiting for carrier
And no more.. I have to kill it.
Thanks!

NetworkManager lead to WPA association/authentication failed
Hey, guys.
I cann't connect to WIFI using NetworkManager in Gnome 3 since a few days ago. Neither can I in the terminal using netctl.
And journalctl -xe says 'WPA association/authentication failed'.
I searched and found some people met the same problem, but I couldn't find a solution that worked for me.
Accidentally, I fount that after stoping NetworkManager (systemctl stop NetworkManager), I could connect to WIFI using netctl.
I found this solution when I did a first fresh installation of Arch on my office computer (I first met the problem on my personal computer).
So, it's the problem of NetworkManager? But it seems there isn't any people reporting this problem.
I wonder why does this problem arise and how could I get rid of it?
And have you met the same problem with NetworkManager?Head_on_a_Stick wrote:
I have just recently switched away from NetworkManager in my GNOME setup and gone back to dhcpcd.service (it seems more in keeping with the Arch Way).
I had no problems with NetworkManager, but as JWR says you have to make sure all other network-related services are `disable`d (as well as `stop`ped)...

Netcfg WPA Authentication/Association Failed
Hello everybody,
Yesterday I've installed Arch on my MacBook and after a lot of hassle I managed to get X running. Now, I figured getting my wireless ready...but to no avail. I'm really starting to lose hope since this install has given me a lot of setbacks thus far.
Anyway, I'm using netcfg to connect to my local network here and I followed all the wikis related wireless networking. I've installed my driver and this seems correct since "iwlist scan" returns all local networks in my area. To start with I've disabled all security temporarily, but even this didn't seem to work. Below my configuration file for my local network is shown:
CONNECTION="wireless"
DESCRIPTION="..."
INTERFACE="eth1"
SECURITY="none"
ESSID="bistarac"
IP="dhcp"
So when I try to connect to my network using "sudo netcfg bistarac", I get the following output (with debug on):
::bistarac up [BUSY]
Loading profile bistarac
Configuring interface eth1
wireless_up stop_wpa eth1
wireless_up if_up
wireless_up Configuration generated at /tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf
wireless_up start_wpa eth1/tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf wext
wireless_up wpa_check
::WPA Authentication/Association Failed [FAIL]
profile_up connect failed
Now, the first thing I notice is that there is a whole bunch of WPA stuff going on for an open network...doesn't seem to make sense to me. Also if I set my network up with WPA security and try this again I get exactly the same result. I know that there is a thread about this from a couple of months of ago:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=687722
But I can't really make much sense from it since I'm not all that into networking. I simply followed the Wiki's about how to get everything done and it isn't working, so either I messed up somewhere along the way or this is (again) some sort of stupid bug. Anyway or another I really hope somebody can help out on this since if I don't get this working anytime soon I'm probably going to give up on Arch on my MacBook.
It's also worth mentioning that I've used Ubuntu on my MacBook before Arch and my wireless functioned perfectly fine (be it with NetworkManager, which I try to avoid). And for anybody wondering, this is my "lspci | grep Network" output:
02:00.0 Network Controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03)
I've installed the drivers using the dedicated Wiki and thus the driver from AUR corresponding to this card, but as I said, iwlist works so I don't think the problem is here.
Also as far as I know I'm using the latest version of netcfg.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
With kind regards,
Ivan
EDIT:
I've also to tried to manually connect to my insecure network using the method outlined in the wireless Wiki, everything seems to go fine until I try to get an IP-adress using dhcpcd:
sudo dhcpcd eth1
dhcpcd: eth1: rebinding lease of 192.168.0.102
dhcpcd: eth1: broadcasting for lease
dhcpcd: timed out
So even this doesn't work...I'm really lost.
Last edited by geniuz (2010-04-13 13:35:32)Hrm, you might have been right about the eth0 thing. Now I can at least connect to my network manually, netcfg still doesn't work...here is the dmesg right after I issued the command:

So to simply put it, this has nothing to do with my driver or network card, because I can manually connect to my network using iwconfig. I'm guessing this is either a configuration issue or a serious issue with netcfg.

WLC 5508 WPA Authentication Problems
Hello,
We have a WLC 5508 with 7.4.100.0 Firmware.
We are using 1141 and 1142 APs and we are having authentication problems with clients that are connecting to our WLAN with WPA+AES autentication. The clients receive in her laptop a password error, and we receive the following log in wlc:
Client Excluded: MACAddress:f8:f1:eb:dd:ff:cd Base Radio MAC :08:ad:dd:76:4d:30 Slot: 0 User Name: unknown Ip Address: unknown Reason:802.1x Authentication failed 3 times. ReasonCode: 4
The strange thing is that the problem is solved restarting the Access-points.
Anyone had this problem previusly?
Thanks in advance.I made the configuration using the Cisco Recommended settings, the strange thing its that the users connect normally, until they starts with authentication problems. I restart the access points and the problem its solved.
Cisco Recommended and not recommended Authentication Settings
Security encryption settings need to be identical for WPA and WPA2 for TKIP and AES as shown in this image:
These images provide examples of incompatible settings for TKIP and AES:

802.1x authentication fail
i have a juniper device linux operating system on that we have radius server configured and i am trying to integrate my WLC with that radius
i have added WLC as a host there in radius
on wlc i have configured authentication like radius ip shared secret key and done
its working i can ping radius server
also in wlc i configured on Wlan aaa allow override check box and also hited the WPA2 802.1x layer2 security and radius server option brought on top.
i also configured my windows wireless adaptor as PEAP MSCHAP v2
i am trying to connect this ssid and its asking for my AD accounts but when i enter that its not authenticating users and giving this logs.

any idea to solve this problem?
or any one knows that how to configur a radius server on juniper linux operating system?
many thanks in advanceYou should post on the Juniper forums regarding your policy configuration. You should stick with using a radius than just doing ldap through the wlc. Here is a link for webauth using ldap, but should get you close. Again... you should look at getting your juniper radius configuration fixed first.

Hello,
I got a report from a branch office which is getting trouble to authenticate users to the WLAN this is a stand alone AP which has a configuration script that we use for all our branch offices but in this case is not working. It seems to be an issue with RADIUS but if it was the case the whole company would be experiencing problems since it is a central RADIUS server.
Here is a log from the AP
By the way I modified the radius server timeout to 90 sec

We just set up an 1200 AP with WPA and all was well for that day, today of the 3 devices that access it only 2 will connect now. I get Authentication failed on the other. I have re-entered the WPA key a billion times now, I tried turning on some debugging in the CLI but it is apparent I do not know what I am doing/looking for . Any help would be great! At this point I could reconfigure I guess but I want to find out the problem.
No specific reason we could say about. Only constraint is software support for WPA-PSK. WPA-PSK is being supported by cisco for years now . So all the access point comes with a version that supports WPA-PSK.

802.1X Authentication failed without 802.1X authentication enabled
Hi,
we are using 2 WISMs, with version 4.2.207 and a WCS to control them.
It seemed to work fine for about 2 weeks, and now we detected the following problem in some users. They were connected to the wireless without problems, and then they lost the connection. For authentication we use WPA2, we also use mac-filter.
When they lost the connection we can see the following error:
Message:
Client 'mac address' which was associated with AP 'mac address', interface '1' is excluded. The reason code is '4(802.1X Authentication failed 3 times.)'.
Message:
Client 'mac' which was associated with AP 'mac', interface '0' is excluded. The reason code is '4(802.1X Authentication failed 3 times.)'.
I also attach an output of the troubleshoot mac address...
Can some help me with this?
Thank you.

AP541N - WPA Enterprise - Failed to connect
Hi,
I am trying to configure an AP541N with WPA Enterprise. My RADIUS server is an MS ISA 2003 and is already working fine with other devices (I have a ASA5510 also configured to use RADIUS authentication with this server). When I try to connect, I am getting the following error message on the event log of the AP541N:

However, I do not see any error message on the ISA side. It actually tells me that the authentication happens fine. Any suggestion how I could troubleshoot this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help and have a great day,
AlexAfter investigation, I found that my ISA server was not configured properly. Here is the URL I used to configure it properly: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc779009(WS.10).aspx

I am using Cisco1941W.
When I connect CliantPC to Wireless(1941W) I got bellow massage from 1941AP.
"%DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station 0011.f596.eecb Authentication failed"
And I couldn't ping from my PC to AP and Router.
Its possible communication from AP to Router.
I show 1941AP configration.
Could you find wrong?
By the way, my PC connected to AP by 108Mbps.
But my PC supported only 802.11a/b/g .
My PC use Static IP Address and use TEST-2 ssid.
I couldn't find error from my PC.

I guess errer massage is telling Radio Frequency error.
I tried to change configuration "speed".
But still get error massage and I couldn't ping from my PC.Thanks, leolaohoo.
> My PC use Static IP Address and use TEST-2 ssid.
so I use TEST-2.
in this case, ignore TEST-1.
I just paste real configuration.
I tried to connect again.
But still I can't ping from PC to AP.
I use other PC.
I configured bellow.
-interface dot11Radio0
-speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0
It was same resault.
Is cisco1941w broken?
I'd like to know one more.
I configured bellow, but I couldn't use 802.11a.
-interface dot11Radio0
-shutdown
how to use 802.11a(5GHz)? -
N5800 university WLAN: WPA authenticatiomn failure
Hello, I have seen posts with similar problems but not exacttly this one so here goes:
I want to connect my Nokia5800XM to my university network and it seems like the solution they have opted for is to have one setup-network and one "real" WLAN.
The setup Access Point directs you to a web page where you provide your authentication details and then the phone MAC-address is saved. Since the MAC-address now is recognized it should now be possible to surf through the "real" WLAN since there is MAC-filtering.
However, when I first connect to the real WLAN I get:
"Default EAP settings saved. Advanced security settings can be edited in security settings of access point"
That is fair enough but when the connection attempt proceeds I get:
"WLAN:Unable to connect. WPA authentication failure"
That is quite odd since you are not supposed to provide any credentials once registered with your MAC and others iPhone seems to work fine so is this problem familiar?
Does the N5800 WLAN capabilities have some limitations that the iPhone has not?have a look at this topic from Saataja:

SAP Business One Integration Services Authentication Failed
Dear ,
ALL SAP forum members,
Iam Using SAP Business One 8.81 PL 06, Micorsoft SQL 2008 R2
In SLD B1DI and JDBC, the connections were tested successfully.
Whenever I log into SBO, I am getting "SAP Business One Integration Services Authentication Failed" error message. I did extensive research on all possible SBO documents dating 1 year back especially in B1ic Troubleshooting Document (New and Old) and searched the length of the SBO forums, but I could not a solution.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the B1f package many a time. The integration services we re also restarted many times and the connections were all tested successfully. Firewall, AntiVirus also checked.
In the B1f, in the Monitoring Window, the login is "Ok" but the AuthCheck is "Failed". I checked Authent.Monitor->Authentic Info and I found the following message under Action message "Wrong Usrname and Password".
I debugged and i found again "/com.sap.b1i.vplatform.scenarios.authen/sap.Xcelsius/Authenticate_Check.bfd
But could not understand much of it.
But i could go no further. The experts are requested to suggest their solutions, If any, to me as Iam stuck in this phase for the last 3 week
I hope some experts will guide me over this issue
Thanks and regards
Ashish GupteHi Konstantin Ryahovsky
Thanks for your reply. My problem is solved.
And frankly speaking i dont know how it was solved. I have not uninstall, install ,not even i had restarted the server also.
only change i did in SLD >> Maintainance >>> cfg Runtime >>>> Put server IP address instead of server Name and restarted the services.
Thanks & regards
Ashish Gupte
