Write back  issue in obiee 10g

Hi all,
While updating data in DB using obiee 10g i am getting an error system is not able to read the template while updating.
i have put the template in \OracleBI\web\msgdb\customMessages folder . Can anyone please suggest what might be the problem .
below is the XML template i am using.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<webMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1">
<webMessageTable lang="en-us" system="writeBack" table="Messages">
<webMessage name="WriteBack_Update">
<XML>
<writeBack connectionPool="WBC">
<insert></insert>
<update>UPDATE test SET COL3='@{c2}' WHERE COL1=@{c1}</update>
</writeBack>
</XML>
</webMessage>
</webMessageTable>
</webMessageTables>
Please help.

Hi,
Insert query is not mandatory.
But you need to include a space between <insert> </insert>. So that s how it works. Check the xml with space in between the insert tag and it will work fine.
This will resolve your problem. Please award if its helpful/useful to you.

    Try these
    1. Remove the COMMIT from the SQL statement.
    2. Leave the insert statement blank with a space for example:.
    <insert> </insert>
    Refer: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12103_01/books/AnyWebAdm/AnyWebAdm_Dashboard17.html

  • Write Back Error in  OBIEE 11.1.1.7.150120

    Hello everybody,
    i have a problem with the writeback capabilities of OBIEE 11.1.1.7.150120.
    After the Migration from 10g to 11g i would like to customize the write back in 11g. I go like Oracle BI Practice: OBIEE 11g Configure Writeback this, but getting an OBIEE error:
    "Write Back Error
    An error occurred while writing to the server. Please check to make sure you have entered appropriate values. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
    The table does not have any constraint. I would like to insert for example the value "2".
    In my table properties i fill in "filling".
    My ...\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\analyticsRes\customMessages\writeback.xml looks like that:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1">
    <WebMessageTable lang="en-us" system="WriteBack" table="Messages">
    <WebMessage name="filling">
    <XML>
    <writeBack connectionPool="Connection Pool">
    <insert> </insert>
    <update>update analyticmodel.last_runtimes set laru_exec = @1, laru_runtime_start = sysdate </update>
    </writeBack>
    </XML>
    </WebMessage>
    <WebMessage name="machine_filling">
    <XML>
    <writeBack connectionPool="Connection Pool">
    <insert> </insert>
    <update>update analyticmodel.machine_filling set mf_mach_id = @{c0}</update>
    </writeBack>
    </XML>
    </WebMessage>
    </WebMessageTable>
    </WebMessageTables>
    Thank you very much
    Best regards
    Christian

    Hi Cristian,
    You must use '' at script when call some column value. (use '@1' instead of @1)
    Tip.. note you can use your "WebMessage Name" (from your script, like "filling", "machine_filing") into your analisys.
    Hope this help

  • Report format issue in OBIEE 10g sent through iBot

    Hello Expert,
    I have scheduled an ibot report through ibot to my official mail id. We are using Lotus notes. I am sending report as a mail body so i am selecting HTML in delivery type.
    this is the report is not comming as it is , the column width is getting srinked. I have tried with to put width in Aditional formating as well. But there is not effect in the report.
    Please revert.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try by setting view properties like Table or Pivot table if this is not working then attach the report to a page and set the section properties and see how it works.
    If this is not working then Notes might have trimming it ;)

  • Issue with PDF displaying ' (apostrophe) symbol in OBIEE 10g

    Our report/dashboard bears some special characters like *'* *(apostrophe)* and they get displayed fine in normal view of OBIEE 10g. But if the same report is exported as PDF output the characters are being displayed into equivalent ASCII code For eg: *'* *(apostrophe)* is displayed as *&#39*. Is this a known bug in OBIEE 10g or is there a workaround/patch available for the same?

    Hi ,
    Are you using 10.1.3.4.1 .
    I think 10.1.3.4.2 is more stable version for 10g and below issues are corrected in this :
    Master Note For Print/Download issues In OBIEE 10g [ID 1206791.1]
    Blank Page or Errors When Printing to PDF. [ID 1086844.1]
    OBIEE 10.1.3.2 PDF Print Does Not Respect Defined Column Widths [ID 544941.1]
    .... so just a update may help.

  • Write back 11g issue

    hi experts,
    I´m trying the write back fucntionality in obiee 11g and i am getting some troubles while updating a record.
    In the write back template I call a DB procedure that updates a column
    <insert> </insert>
    <update> begin pr_update(@1); end </update>
    but unfortunaly the column is always updated with its current value and not the value I've just entered for the update.
    it's like if The presentation server is not sending the new value to the DB but the old one.
    any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Problem in navigating from one report to another in OBIEE 10g

    Hi,
    I am facing an issue with OBIEE 10g while applying navigation on my reports.
    Lets suppose I made a report showing list of all items(in broad categories) sold on a particular day, say Dairy, Frozen Foods, Chocolates etc.In this report there is a date prompt showing the date of sale.
    Now there are certain items that are distributed within these categories, like dairy includes milk, cheese, butter etc.
    Hence, my navigation should be like when I click on a particular item category, the control should move on to the report which has all items under that particular category and the prompt for this report should show the same date as passed in the previous report.
    But sometimes what happens is that on clicking the navigation from first report to the second one, the date is not persisting in the prompt. I say sometimes because at times the navigation does work correctly. This is a bug of Obiee or something which is giving unexpected results.
    Kindly help with your suggestions.
    Thanks
    Ankita

    Ankita,
    This is not a bug in OBIEE...I'm sure something is missing. If this is working for some cases and not working for some other case then you will need to find the root cause. Try in bits and pieces...Step by Step with some dates (unit testing). Ideally this shud work properly.
    For an instance try with OBIEE drilldown feature and not with navigation with a single sale date and observe the behavior.
    Hope its clear...
