Writing a Method in BADI

Hi All
I am working on BADIs.The BADI which i found has got three methods for different functionality. But i want to create my own method to achieve my functionality..
My question is:
1. Can i create my own method in the BADI
2. If it is so, after creating how can i call that method in Application program? Since i have seen the three standard methods have been called in the application program.
Please pass any help on this.

Hi Suresh
BAdI functionality is defined by the developer of the original program. That is; he decides where and which method of the BAdI method should be called.
However, a BAdI implementation is a class implementation and you can add your own methods. Normally, you can <u>not</u> insert the added method to the application whereas you can call the method inside original BAdI methods.

how to implement classes and methods in badi's? and where i have to write the code based on the requirement?can anyone explain me briefly?

Every BADI by default Implements an INTERFACE which already contains some methods with parameters.
So you have to find the relavenet method based on the related paramters (by checking the fields in that paramters) you have to double click on the method and to write the code.

DEFINING THE BADI
1) execute Tcode SE18.
2) Specify a definition Name : ZBADI_SPFLI
3) Press create
4) Choose the attribute tab. Specify short desc for badi.. and specify the type :
multiple use.
5) Choose the interface tab
6) Specify interface name: ZIF_EX_BADI_SPFLI and save.
7) Dbl clk on interface name to start class builder . specify a method name (name,
level, desc).

8) place the cursor on the method name desc its parameters to define the interface.

9) save , check and activateadapter class proposed by system is

IMPLEMENTATION OF BADI DEFINITION
1) EXECUTE tcode se18.choose menuitem create from the implementation menubar.
2) Specify aname for implementation ZIM_LINESEL
3) Specify short desc.
4) Choose interface tab. System proposes a name fo the implementation class.
ZCL_IM_IMLINESEL which is already generarted.
5) Specify short desc for method
6) Dbl clk on method to insert code..(check the code in AAA).
7) Save , check and activate the code.

Data type mismatch while writing a code in BADi

Hi Experts,
While writing a code in BADi, I am facing data type mismatch.
Scenario:
I have created the Infospoke based on one ODS and inside BADi i am looking up the other ODS fields.
Two ODS's having 4 common key fields but one key field having the data type mismatch.
While selecting the data from other ODS table in where condition it's giving the error data type mismatch.
Could you please advice the same please.

Hello Anil
Your question is misleading. I assume you do not want to modify a BAdI interface methods but the coding of an implementing class.
Local transport requests cannot be transported and, therefore, do NOT need any target system (you can find this within the properties of the request).
However, in your case you want a "tansportable" request and here you need a target system which apparently is NOT automatically filled into the request properties.
Solutions:
Add the target system to your request
Perhaps you try to change the class method on the wrong system (not DEV system)

Which method for badi WORKORDER_UPDATE

i need to trigger error message if user enter a specific qty at CJ20N, activity level,
in which method shall i use, i tried BEFORE_UPDATE method, but it triggers short dump, AT_SAVE method only enables at header level, is there any way i can trigger the error msg ? pls adivce

I checked the documentation for this BADI which says-
"Note that no system messages may be sent in the methods. The only exception is the AT_SAVE method. Within this method, a system message may be issued, but only if you trigger the exception ERROR_WITH_MESSAGE at the same time."
So , It doesnt seem to be possible for any other method as per the documentation.

Method in BADI not loaded

I am currently using BADI BADI_MATERIAL_OD to save data from my subscreen into a customized table. I am using method MATERIAL_POST_OTHER_DATA but every time I execute transaction MM02, it seems to ignore the method. Why is it so? I do not think any other method could be used to save the data. Kindly advise. Thank you

go to se24,,,,,, open class name cl_exithandler..
there are lsit of methods. double click on method "GET_INSTANCE".
now apply break point on statement
"CALL METHOD cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface"
in this method the changing parameter
CHANGING
exit_name = exit_name.
will give you the appropriate badi for t-code mm02.
just run mm02 and when you reach that particular screen on which you want to make changes
just see what comes in exit_name that will be the appropriate badi for you then select the approprate method and do your coding.
note: if nothing comes in exit_name then there is no badi defined for MM02 by sap the probably you need to use functio-exit or user-exit.

Hi, I am new to Java and I have a little problem with this statement:
a soldTickets(int num) method that records the fact that the specified number of tickets have been sold at this booth.
Basically I only wrote this part:

I wonder if it is correct, if not what value should I return?

i don't think tht shud correctly work. u just define a static variable num in the class. and just perform >num++ in the function and when the program executes u will get to know how many tickets r sold after >printing num. if u do this there is no need of any parameter to be passed in the function because u have >already defined it in the class.

Sounds like you need a Booth object which has a variable - int totalTicketsSold;
and a method - public void soldTickets(int num)
in the body of the method num is added to totalTicketsSold; public int soldTickets(int num)

Create a subclass of JhsDataAction, and add your onUser method with the following signature:

I am writing code in a badi but some part of code is repeating, as there is no provision for creating perform statements, I would like to create a method and put the code in that method so that the code in the badi will look modularized.
But i don't have much idea on how to do this.

Hi,
This should be very straight forward,
when you go to transaction SE19 with a particular BADI, then you can find a class attached to that BADI starting with Z, go into the class in edit mode, and add a method u want and then code it to your need. and you can call the same method from any of your BADI method with CALL METHOD me->xyz.

Or maybe I fill the ALV function parameters in a wrong way ?

Hey,
I am not sure if from the ALV list the SPOOL will be created properly. You said the spool is created but the spool is empty.
A Work around could be create a classical report with WRITE statements and then SUBMIT that report exporting the list into memory or you can even read the spool then.

Hi Sivakumar!
Create a function group.
Define global data (there is a similiar menu point to jump to the top include).
Create one or two function modules, with which you can read and write the global data.
In your BADI methods you can access the global data with help of your function modules. It will stay in memory through the whole transaction.
