Writing dynamic content using JspWriter

In my jsp I call a java object this java object calls jspWrtiter.print("some string");
this prints string that is fine.Suppose I want to write any taglibrary or include another jsp this way is it possible ?
for example below is my jsp
<%@ taglib uri="/tld/struts-bean" prefix="bean"%>
<% myobject..generate(new MyPageContext(pageContext)); %>
<!-- jsp END -->
<! -- inside myObject -->
JspWriter out = getPageContext().getOut();
out.print("<html></html>");
out.print("<jsp:include page='jsp/include.jsp' />");
the second line where I say jsp:include, prints as it is, it does not include that jsp.Is there any way I can have dynamic content not just html through JspWrite print method ?
miro.

out.print("<jsp:include page='jsp/include.jsp' />");this is perfectly iilegal as jsp tags are always executed at the server side but not at the client side.
therefore that would only print something like
<jsp:include page='jsp/include.jsp' /> in the client broswer page.
the other way which i can think of is using iframes if you wanna do it @client side.
something like
out.println("<iframe src='jsp/include.jsp'  width='100' height='100'  scrollable='no' />");and the other way is making use of AJAX calling the JSP and getting back the content from the JSP and then updating a DIV / SPAN field accordingly.
Hope this might help :)

  • Adding pagination in report build from PL/SQL dynamic content using htp.p

    Hi,
    I have a requirement for which i used PL/SQL dynamic content to build my report and i displayed my report using a cursor and loop by HTP.P function.
    Now problem is I have report with more than 500 rows and I want to add pagination concept for this report.
    How can i do that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Smith

    To preserve heading on each page for a HTML table you can use the THEADER, TFOOTER and TBODY tags (see example). To force page breaks, try experimenting with these style attributes:
    <STYLE TYPE="text/css">
         tr.breakhere {page-break-before: always}
    </STYLE>
    <tr class="breakhere">Table Example:
    htp.tableopen;
    htp.print('<THEAD style="display:table-header-group">');
    ... your table headers here
    htp.print('</THEAD>');
    htp.print('<TFOOT style="display:table-footer-group"><TR><TD></TFOOT>');
    htp.print('<TBODY>');
    ... your rows here
    htp.print('</TBODY>');
    htp.tableclose;Edited by: crokitta on Apr 8, 2009 2:07 PM

  • Maintaining dynamic content using TC

    I'm using the full TC suite to create documentation.
    So far, I've found it pretty beneficial with a few issues.
    The issue below is my most painful and requires a lot of overhead.
    - I'd like to be able to have dynamic content in my help only
    and not have this content overwritten during an update (I use Frame
    as source and update to the help system). For example, I'd like to
    have a related topics button at the bottom of each topic, or a link
    to a next step. Unfortunately, during update from Framemaker, all
    my dynamic content is overwritten even if I create it and
    conditionalize it for help in the Framemaker source. The only
    workaround I've found is to have the file ignored during update,
    which obviously defeats the purpose of single-sourcing to begin
    with.
    Anyone have suggestions?

    I've not used the Struts template library, but try something like:
    ....content='<%="/inc" + section %>'or if that fails,
    <%
    String s = "/inc" + section;
    %>
    ...content='<%=s%>'

  • In struts Can't display dynamic content using "include"?

    Hi everyone:
    I am using struts1.1. I have a index.jsp and it have a hyperlink "<html:link forward="show">Show All forum</html:link>". In my struts-config.xml there is a element:"
    <global-forwards>
    <forward name="show" path="/jsp/allarticle.jsp"/>
    <forward name="oneforum" path="/article.jsp"/>
              <action path="/article" type="lyo.hotmail.bbs.lovearticle.Savelovearticle" input="/jsp/error.jsp">
              <forward name="success" path="/jsp/loveforum.jsp"/>
    </action>
    I want that the index.jsp will redirect to allarticle.jsp when user click the hyperlink "Show All forum".
    In the allarticle there is a hyperlink "<html:link forward="oneforum">one forum</html:link>"
    The Savelovearticle is an Action class and it disply all the data from database.I using "if(list!=null){
              session.setAttribute("listtable",list);
         }".I display all the content using "<logic:iterate id="love" name="listtable">
    " tag in allarticle.jsp.
    But the Tomcat report error "can't find listtable in any scope"?
    The problem is if I change the struts-config.xml to:
    ////////////////////////after change///////////////////////////////////////////
    <global-forwards>
    <forward name="show" path="/article"/>
    <forward name="oneforum" path="/article.jsp"/>
              <action path="/article" type="lyo.hotmail.bbs.lovearticle.Savelovearticle" input="/jsp/error.jsp">
              <forward name="success" path="/jsp/loveforum.jsp"/>
    </action>
    It will display all the content successfully.Why?
    Whether because that the Action is a servlet so it must retrieve a request directly.My first code don't send the request to the servlet other than send the request to a jsp page.The jsp page can't send the same request to the servlet so the error happened.right?
    How do I fix it?Thks :(

    You want to be using <html:link forward="YOUR_FORWARD"> only when you want to forward to static elements and not elements that require actions. So in index.jsp, since you just want to forward to a static jsp page (allarticle.jsp), you can use
    <html:link forward="show">Show All forum</html:link>But since you want your "one forum" link to populate a session attribute BEFORE loading /jsp/loveforum.jsp, you need
    <html:link action="article">one forum</html:link>The reason it's not working now is because you're accessing a session attribute that isn't populated becuase you link to the page statically and it never gets the value of "list" actually stored in the session.
    The reason it works when you change your forward element is because it calls the action that saves "list" into your session.

  • Problem writing XML content through JspWriter

    Hi,
    I am trying to send some XML content to browser. I have a perfectly generated XML, which if I write using ServletOutpurStream in a Java Servlet, works flawlessly, and I see the XML on the browser. But, if I use the same piece of code in a JSP, and write to "out", I see some junk data, without any XML tags. I did set response.contentType to "text/xml" in both the cases. I even tried the contentType attribute of "page" directive. But no luck.
    Could anybody please tell me what's wrong!!
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Sumanta.

    It is working fine for me. I am running Tomcat 3.2.1 on NT.
    Try this small test jsp,
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%
    response.setContentType("text/xml");
    out.print("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"ISO-8859-1\"?>");
    out.print("<web-app><servlet><servlet-name>default</servlet-name>"+
                   "<servlet-class>org.apache.tomcat.servlets.DefaultServlet</servlet-class>"+
                   "</servlet></web-app>");

  • Writing Html Content into PDF using JSP

    Dear All,
    I am using JSP to generate Employee payslip dynamically. Presently i am diplaying payslip as on-screen display.
    Here i want to give option "Save as PDF". I am able to create PDF file using IText Libraries. i want to integrate HTML code into the PDF file.
    Writing HTML Content (using HTML Tags) into PDF.

    Well it is a difficult ask and i believe we are trying to re-invent the wheel
    Just to make my life simple i could have choosen either sample API given below to serve my cause
    1).[http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/] (Apache FOP one can simply write an XSL template of their and then substitute the values from respective DTO's by using XSL - XML transformations and can generate content in different formats which includes PDF aswell)
    2).[http://jasperforge.org/plugins/project/project_home.php?group_id=102] (Just design a simple report template using iReport and create a jrxml files and write a small code snipett such that you can pass few details at the runtime and can export the report in different formats which includes PDF aswell)
    3).[http://www.object-refinery.com/jfreereport/] (Is much similar to what jasper offers in order to compile these you can either use pentaho product IDE or BEA/Oracle Actuate report tools)
    You can simply try searching for different examples for getting more help on using the respective API's
    Hope that helps :)

  • JSP problem..... + Dynamic Content

    Hello to all,
    In the Jsp page i am adding some dynamic content through JAVAScript.
    but after clicking back and forward on the browser it doesnot retaining that content.
    Can anyone give idea how to restore that dynamic content..
    Please its urgent..
    abhishek

    generate the dynamic content using the JSP, not javascript. What happens on the client side has absolutely nothing to do with JSP's and it is completely up to the browser how it handles the page state when going back and forward.

  • Building a report using "PL/SQL Dynamic Content" can I have it output PDF?

    Hi,
    I build several reports using the "PL/SQL Dynamic Content" region and htp.p().
    The output is exactly what the customer wants but they would now like to have it go into PDF document.
    Is there a way to do it?
    Bill

    Bill,
    You can integrate APEX with Oracle BI Publisher and have your report generated to PDF.
    If you're just interested in saving what is on a web page in PDF, have a look at CuteFTP (Windows), which is a free print driver that allows you to "print" to a PDF file as if it were a printer. On the Mac, you can save to PDF and do not need any additional software.
    Thanks,

  • Does anyone else use a PDF form to extract data they can then use to populate Dynamic Content in Ill

    Does anyone else use a PDF form to extract data they can then use to populate Dynamic Content in Illustrator?

    You can connect the form to the DB using anODBC connection. This functionality comes as part of Acrobat but the form must be Reader Extended by the full LiveCycle Server version of Reader Extension to allow this in Reader. In your case, if your system is the only on ethat will interact with the DB then this might be a viable solution (but you woudl have to use Acrobat). This solution woudl involve create an ODBC connection in your system then configuring the form to make use of that connection.
    Does that make sense?

  • What are you using to create dynamic content?

    I'm new to the cisco DMP system and I'm trying to figure out how others are displaying dynamic content.  The built in designer is a bit limiting.  I've created a few elements in flash, but if the system does not like anything full-screen.
    I've used previous digital signage products and they were all a bit like powerpoint with different slides and each slide could have text, animations, etc.
    Thanks.

    If you are doing it via a web page and can edit the css do something like:
    body{
    margin:0;
    padding:0;
    Then make the flash 100% wide and tall.

  • Create Portal Page Design with Dynamic content in Moss2007(without using Visual Studio)

    Hi All,
    I am facing a issue while designing a page in MOSS 2007. I can't use custom code as the client doesn't want it to be used.
    The page is with dynamic content coming from sharepoint lists and picture library. I tried using SharePoint Listview after adding zones as per my page design..but was unsuccessful because I am unable to change its design and css styles in its xslt view.
    Plesae help me to find any alternative so that I can easily style my page with the dynamic content. Is there any way using Content editor webparts? Can we get List data in Content editor html as this can be easily styled. I googled and tried it by using javascript
    and jquery but again unsuccessful.
    Please help me with some solution.
    Thanks..!!

    I recommend your repost this in the WebLogic Portal forum.

  • Sporadic issues uploading large dynamic content blocks using REST API

    I have been using calls to endpoints like https://secure.eloqua.com/API/REST/1.0/assets/dynamicContent/157 (where "157" is a content block ID) to update existing dynamic content blocks. This has generally worked well for about a month and a half. Starting Saturday morning around Midnight, though, the majority of these calls started failing, with socket error "connection was forcibly closed by remote host".
    That's the .NET verbiage; at a lower level, this is socket error #10054. When using CURL, I get the result pictured below:
    This is sporadic; over the course of today, maybe 25% of these calls have succeeded and 75% have failed. The calls are mostly identical. At other times, we've gone days, maybe weeks without an issue, and I figured that the isolated failures of this sort that we did get related to scheduled downtime, loss of connectivity, and other transient conditions.
    The payload (PUT data) I'm sending up is ~450KB of JSON. It contains the top-level details about the block itself, plus all of the dynamic content / rules criteria, including the default.
    At first, I wondered if some sort of weird character (ampersand, less than / greater than...) had entered my data, flowed into the API call unescaped, and created a problem (e.g. invalid JSON). However, I did some troubleshooting, and the failure we're seeing does not seem to correlate with the absence or presence of any one content / rule item in particular. Rather, it seems to be volume related, i.e. I can send any one of the rules I want to create, or just a few, and that will succeed. But I cannot send all (or most) of the rules at once without experiencing failures most of the time (lately).
    So, if there were a way for me to split up the creation of the block over multiple API calls (one call to create the block, another to add the default content rule, yet another for the first non-default content rule, and so on), I think that would work. I find no indication on Topliners or in the Eloqua API documentation to indicate that this is possible, though.
    It has occurred to me that we are over some API call threshold. I know that some Eloqua installations have a per-day API call limit as low as 20,000. My question is, what do I see when I exceed the limit? Do I get the "forcibly closed" error, or another error perhaps, or is my activity simply throttled by the server? And is there somewhere in Eloqua that I can see where I stand with respect to this limit?
    Finally, I know we've done some things recently that have increased our overall processing load on the Eloqua servers. In particular, a larger number of contacts than previously have been flowing in from our CRM system. One theory I had was that we're allocated a certain amount of total processing power, and that if we overload this capacity complex API calls are subject to timing out. (My communications timeout is set to 10 minutes, and the error message comes up after about 2-3 minutes, but I don't know what kind of timeouts Oracle might have set up on their own equipment.) That being said, my code needs to basically wait indefinitely for this data, and certainly not give up after 2-3 minutes. If there's a way to indicate this fact to Oracle, I'd certainly like to know about that.
    Thank you all for reading and attempting to help!

    Hi James,
    As far as I have been told (by Support) is that the API Limit is a soft limit that is not currently enforced.
    I have seen other API endpoints failing from time to time (mostly on the BULK API) and have had to write logic to redo calls that fail. My failures seems to occur primarily due to server load and I can force them by making allot of exports at the same time.
    In regards to the Dynamic Content Rules I think that you might be able to make the rules one/two rules at the time. What I would test is to make a Dynamic Content with only the default content. Then loop through your rules and only have new rules in the Rules section of the Dynamic Content.
    One more thing. Try using the REST/2.0 endpoint.

  • Problem with "PL/SQL Dynamic Content" and displaying rows

    hi,
    im new to APEX, and pl/sql [but not web dev or sql].
    ive found the bit in APEX that lets you add data from your DB using the 'CREATE' > 'PL/SQL Dynamic Content'.
    maybe there's a better option for people who dont know pl/sql? i dont know?
    however, i think i can getting working with a little bit of help but im stumbling around in the dark a bit here.
    ok so this is the pl/sql ive come up with to show three example values on page 23 of my aplplication:
    BEGIN
    SELECT ID, NAME, OWNER
    FROM COM_MAILSHOTS
    INTO :P23_ID, :P23_NAME, :P23_OWNER;
    END;
    im getting the error:
    1 error has occurred
    ORA-06550: line 5, column 21: PL/SQL: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended ORA-06550: line 4, column 1: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    thanks for reading!

    The easiest (and best) way to "display rows" is using a report. Dynamic PL/SQL regions are more complex and are required much less frequently.
    The Oracle® Database 2 Day + Application Express Developer's Guide tutorial explains how to create reports and other basic APEX techniques.

  • Mixing static and dynamic content in a single outputText value causes NPEs

    Hi,
    I am having a problem and I'm wondering if it is a result of my error or if this is a bug.

            at com.sun.enterprise.web.connector.grizzly.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:83)My code looks like this:
    <h:outputText escape="false"
              value='<link href="#{myBean.styleSheet}" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"  />' />If I replace this with a much more convoluted set of tags, it works:
    <h:outputText escape="false"
              value='<link href="' /><h:outputText escape="false" value="#{myBean.styleSheet}"
              /><h:outputText escape="false" value='" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />' />So is the problem that I am mixing dynamic and static content with a single value? If so, why does it work on the first view, and not after?
    If it matters, I'm using the reference implementation version 1.1 (as included with NetBeans 5.5RC2) on SuSE 10.0 w/ JDK 1.5_09.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Yes, that's how I originally had it, but then changed it to the outputText approach since a single tag could do what I wanted, as long as I was allowed to mix static and dynamic content within a single value.
    I think this is a bug in JSF 1.1, since if what I am doing is illegal, it should throw an exception on the first page view, not work on first view and throw an exception on subsequent views. I'm guessing that this has something to do with the fact that on first page view it only runs the restore view and render response JSF phases, while on subsequent requests all of the phases will be run, and it's in one of those other phases that the exception is thrown.
    For now, multiple tags is the work-around, I guess.
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Print PLSQL Dynamic content region in PDF format in Oracle Apex

    Hi All,
    I have created a report region by selecting "PLSQL Dynamic Content".This region calls the procedure with some parameters.So i want this plsql dynamic content to be in PDF format.
    For an easy understanding, I have created an application in Apex.Oracle.Com where i have created a Plsql Dynamic content which calls procedure do display in region.
    Step 1: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=4550:1:15635986742760:::::
    Step 2: Workspace : dev_dilip
    Username: [email protected]
    Pwd : 123456
    Step 3: Open PRINT_PDF application and Run the application.
    Step 4: Username: [email protected]
    Pwd : 123456
    The procedure code can be viewed by object browser.
    Once user cliks PDF (button inapplication) a new tab should open and that plsql region should in PDF format.
    I kindly request all to check and advice me with your valuable suggestion.
    regards,
    Doddi Dilip.

    SO, you want to print the output of the procedure in pdf format? If so, you can try apex Report Query feature. You can find a number of examples for the same in this forum and in the internet:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/hol08/apexprnt/apexprnt_otn.htm
    Or, have a IR based on a collection; the collection based on a function returning query. And then, use the IR's generic download option to print reports.
