Wrong concept for folders - leapfrogged by everyone else
Can somebody help me. Am I missing out on something: Can I find a way to create real folders somewhere and can I share them with somebody?
I want to work with Apple Technology, but I do not like to see Google, Microsoft and Dropbox leapfrog Apple.

Since late the same decade I have occasionally worked with windows, when forced, by people I had to help as a consultant.
I had severe fights with windows consultants teaching their users to store Word documents in the MS Word Program Folder, Excel files in their Excel Program Folder etc.
Causing documents to be deleted when deleting the old version of word when upgrading to the next version.
Making backup of data a distress.
Causing complete confusion when trying to find something related to a project like fx "Campaign for Coca Cola 1999, summer" which would be spread over the 5-10 different Program Folders the documents was created with.
Now Apple is forcing us to do so.
And I can not even share a folder with anyone in my family or with a co-worker. I have to share single documents which will hang in top of his/her area regarding one single app.
I am wondering: This is forcing us to work like DOS and early Windows users did, because it was a messy operating system they worked with, and because the cumbersome way to create folders in DOS taught them terrible data discipline.
What is Apple thinking here?
This has kept me from using the iCloud apps from the very first moment.
If we as users are to use iCloud a minimum requirement must definitely be:
Real folder structure with folders within folders.
A mix of document types within folders - probably also documents not readable by the iCloud version iWorks Apps.
Access to the iCloud folders from any App on you Mac.
The folders must be shareable like in Dropbox and all the other competitors that have been around for years.
And then probably also
Setting access in a manageable way, hopefully an apple way, leapfrogging the (absolutely OK way Dropbox is doing it)
Versioning and roll back like in dropbox.
Etc. etc.
Going back from System 1 anno 1984 with and the later HFS and HFS+ way of organizing and sharing - yes I had AppleShare Server in 1998 - is not recommendable.
AND ... what I suggest here is hopefully less than what Apple will give us. Remember: Henry Ford assumed:
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
I am maybe asking for faster horses here. But Apple is giving me a donkey sitting beside me, not even dragging the wagon.
Come on: I have tried to look at the news regarding the renewed iCloud, but I am not able to read between the lines. Will Apple come out in front and learn me that the demands I am trying to put forward here are backward. Will Apple show me some more than just my "faster horse" demands. Please keep on revolutionizing the way we work ... not holding us back.

Your first statement explains the second statement. To use the German iTunes Store, you need to prove that you're a resident of Germany (that is required by the content owners who will not allow cross-border sales) and the only way Apple can provide such a verification is by requiring that you enter in either a German credit card or a German-purchased iTunes prepaid card. Since I presume the former is not a possibility, you'll need to do the latter if you wish to purchase content from the iTunes Store. Again, this is not Apple's choice but is forced on them by the content owners as a requirement for Apple being allowed to sell the content. The EU is working on regulations that would force the content owners to allow access pan-EU, but that's still in the works.
You do not need an iTunes Store account to activate and run your iPad, though; at least, I didn't need one for either of my two iPads. If you only want to set up an account so you can get free iPad apps, take a look here:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is apparently critical. This seems to come and go, or only apply to App Stores in specific countries, so you may not see the option for "None" when asked for a payment type.

I have recently gotten a MacBook Pro (through my highschool so it is monitored by them) and ever since I brought it home it's been having wifi connection problems. It says the wifi is working fine, it shows full bars, but when I try to connect to the Internet it acts like there is only one bar or no bars. Although every one and a while I can get a great connection but it lasts for about 10 minutes. This I do not get because the wifi works perfectly fine for everyone else in the house and for our phones too. So if anyone else could help me I would be soo happy. Thanks.
I have had the same issue and searched the forums and found nothing that helped. I contacted apple support and this is what they told me to do:
First we’ll do the SMC reset
1.) Shut down the Mac and connect to power source.
2.) Unplug external devices, flash drives, external monitors, external HD (Keep the Mac plugged into power source)
3.) Hold down “Shift” + “Control” + “Option” (On the left side of the keyboard) + Power key for 30 seconds.
*The Mac should remain powered off during the reset, the LED on the MagSafe Adapter may change colors.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.
Awesome, now let’s reset the NVRAM
1.) Locate these keys “Command”, “Option, “P” & “R”
2.) Power on your Mac
3.) Immediately press and hold all 4 keys “Command” “Option” “P” “R”
4.) Listen for 2 boot chimes and then release.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.

I have two macs at my house, and multiple iPhones. I want to keep the same apple id as everyone else, but i want to put my own music only on my iPhone. I want to do this with my laptop which is not the family's main iTune's computer.
If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

No matter where I go, as soon as I turn on the Internet on my new Mac Book Pro, everyone else is no longer able to use the Internet. How can I fix this? I received it as a gift for college, but its hard to do research when everyone constantly yells at me to get off because they can no longer continue what they're doing.

You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content. -
Ok I don't know why in the world everyone else has access to the App Store and almost anything they want. Guess what I have access to? Yea that's right I have access to nothing that they have! I believe that their iPads are glitching and that might be how they got access to them! I hate how I don't have any access when I don't have access to anything that they have access to! They have almost no restrictions on their iPads and I have all the restrictions that the school sets!
I don't know if you're looking for us to offer a solution to you? We can't. If your school has set restrictions on your iPad, you need to discuss this with your school system admin.

I have a site with the default document library.
I add views to the library, some ask for the items to be shown in folders, some not.
I create a site template via the SharePoint UI.
I create a new site.
In the new site, the library exists, the views exist, but all the views are set to show the items in folders.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a patch or any workaround?Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that view property "show all items without folders" is not preserved in packaging and is lost after we create a site using the saved site template.
For your issue, I can reproduce your scenario in my environment. It should be caused by the scope attribute is missing. For a workaround, you can try to crack the site template wsp, add the missing scope
attribute to the View schema in the list schema.xml.
Also, I recommend you open up a ticket for deep investigation.

I got a text message this morning informing me that my vzw pix account had been permanently deleted due to 60 days of inactivity. So I searched online to see if there was some way to get my pictures back, since I had very little room to store them on my crap phone I deleted them once they were uploaded. I come to find out that no, there is no way to get them back and also it seems that everyone else in the whole world had 180 days and more than one text message an entire month before their account was deleted. This is ridiculous and I would have preferred that Verizon not offer any storage at all if they just delete everything you save with only one warning that you can easily forget about in a month. I also want to know why everyone else seems to get 180 days of inactivity and I get 60, and why they get multiple messages warning them when I got one.

I know pictures have great value. I'm sorry to hear your pictures were deleted. As you already know once the pictures have been deleted there is no way to retrieve them. The inactive period for "Free" Multimedia and Messaging accounts has been reduced from 180- to 60-calendar days. Previously, a customer would be sent messages at day 150, 170, and 180 letting them know that their account is inactive and subject to termination at day 180 of inactivity. Now customers receive messages at day 30, 50, and 60-calendar days of inactivity. Thank you.

How does everyone else fit all their Logic stuff into a 2-screen setup?
Logic 8 comes with a beautiful setup for fitting all of the display information in one monitor, but are there any custom fit, default set-ups for a dual monitor set-up? Or do I have to make my own. Any suggestions out there for a work flow as intuitive as the one window interface that locks so well into one full screen's space? I've got two 19" (non-widescreen) Samsung's that I am looking to utilize. How did everyone else set themselves up?
Most of the time I keep an arrange window on one display (full screen), and use the other display for one of the other window types, depending on what I'm doing: piano roll, sample editor, or mixer, typically. I keep the sample editor or piano roll linked to the arrange window so that it gives me a picture of whatever I've selected in the arrange window.
On a few occasions I've found it handy to have two arrange windows, one on each display, with different zoom levels. If I have a bunch of region editing to do, for example, it can be easier to do big navigation moves in the zoomed-out arrange window and detailed stuff in the zoomed-in one.

Workflow not sending email to first reviewer but sends to everyone else
I have a criteria workflow that is working fine except for one small problem. The first person in the workflow does not get notified. If they login and approve, the content continues through the workflow and everyone else is notified. I can even reject it all the way back to the original contributor, and then that contributor sends it on to that first person in the workflow and then they get an email. It's just that initial email when the workflow kicks off doesn't go out.
Nothing showing up in our ECM error logs or email logs. If you look at the workflow info, it says that first person was notified. I've also tried changing who that first person is and what they can/have to do and it makes no difference.
Any suggestions?Is the first person in the Entry Step or the second step of the workflow?

I give up Mainstage is useless how does everyone else feel?
I'm a working musician and have been using Logic for over 3 years for live performance. Imagine the joy I had last September when I learned that Mainstage was available. I was the first in my town to purchase the upgrade to Logic 8, I quickly installed it, read the manual, did some configuring hoping that mainstage would be the answer I had been waiting for for years.
Well initially I was impressed. There were some problems but I knew Apple would be right on them and a solution would be at hand shortly.
I upgraded to Leopard, had more problems, downloaded all the updates, prokits, etc. etc. had more problems! Called Support, subscribed to all the boards......yada yada yada
Took my Macbook Pro into my dealer got it checked, added more ram, even added a larger internal drive to fit all of Logic 8 on. Bought a cooling desk. Wrote and Apple Script, +*nothing helped*+
It just seemed to get worse
Finally yesterday I had a spare 5 hours so I stripped Leopard off reinstalled Tiger, Logic Studio and the rest of my stuff from scratch believing that the problem was Leopard related, even that didn't work. Mainstage still clicked, popped, puked ..................... pick an adjective.
I've been a loyal Apple customer since 1980 (I had an Apple II Plus) I currently own 3 Macs. I am really disappointed in the support this product has seen from Apple. The loss of faith in this product is apparent by the drop off in messages on all the discussion boards and this is a dangerous thing to a company I believed put it's customers first.
I have decided to give up on Mainstage I will go back to using my synths to play gigs. I feel I have come to the table to try and get Mainstage running unfortunately Apple hasn't

I have voiced my opinion about MainStage since the beginning, thinking that maybe Apple or people who have access to the MainStage developers, would read the posts here and try and get some of these issues resolved.
MainStage is a great program conceptually. Compared to a lot of similar hosting programs out there, it has some nice implementation ideas such as sounds gradually fading out during patch changes so that reverb tails aren't cut off, extensive keyboard splits / layers, etc. and a pretty cool on screen layout for nice feedback during a live gig. There are some things that I wish Apple would have put in the program, like the ability to control external midi hardware.
However, in spite of these great ideas and thoughts, the developers, in my opinion, didn't make sure the program was rock solid as it should be for a live application. If this were a program that you could use and be able to do retakes, make corrections along the way, etc., then these bugs would be accounted for by the user and dealt with. But for a live app, when you are playing in the middle of a song, where you only get one chance to make it right, and the application locks, pops, clicks, etc. in a sporadic and unpredictable fashion, it is absolutely unacceptable.
I agree, most of the people who posted here back in the beginning have stopped because it didn't seem to make any difference. And there is usually a few users who have perfect systems. I have tried various ways to eliminate the unpredictable nature of MainStage but no such luck. Even last night at rehearsal, everthing seemed to be going along fine through the four first songs. I only had about 7 or 8 patches total and my memory usage was at about 30%. Then I change patches so we can start working on song #5. For this song I use a Native Instruments B4 patch (which also was one of two patches used in the previous song I just played). I have used this instrument many times and it has performed very well for the most part except for the occasional CPU spikes. I got about 2/3 of the way through the song and then noticed something ... I had no more sound coming from my instrument. I looked over at my MacBook and to my dismay, it was totally locked up. Needless to say, I wasn't able to finish the song because I had to reboot my machine. I know others may chime in here and ask if I had this configured or that ... and yes I have done all of these ad naseum ... this machine is soley devoted to my music rig, so its not like I am using it for games, word processing and everthing else. The bottom line is, this is another example of how quality control for this app and maybe Leopard in general has gone out the window.
I really like MainStage, I have invested a lot of time setting things up to replace my Logic live rig and have tried to hang in there hoping help would be on the way. I am not even asking for the ability to control external midi equipment (though that would be nice), I would just like to have a dependable piece of software that is made for live use, not just a toy to jam with friends in the Garage. -
Getting support through this site is terrible. Having said that I have been trying to access the store in order to order PS CC and I have been unable to connect. I have an internet connection that works with everyone else. The URL comes up in the browse window and the address simply hangs. This has been going on for the past three hours.
