WRP400: audio drops for 5..15 seconds on each packet error.

Hi,
On several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly.
I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one.
Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long?
...i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.
Thanks.

Additional Provisioning Parameters
Additional provisioning parameters were added for configuring router/data parameters via open (XML-style) format.
NOTE
A sample XML profile can be generated by using the profile compiler tool (SPC). For instructions about provisioning, see the WRP400 Administration Guide at the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/csbpvga/wrp400/administration/guide/WRP400_AG_OL-19688.pdf
Two configurable and provisionable parameters are available to address an issue with voice cutoff. You can adjust the Soft IRQ for Voice settings to suit the deployment scenario.
To configure these parameters, connect to the following URL: http://192.168.15.1/VoiceDebug.asp
Use the syntax shown in the following example, and described below.
Example:
softirq_active_voice=0,softirq_polling_cnt=1
Parameters:
•softirq_active_voice: Enable or disable Soft IRQ for Voice. Valid values are 0 (disabled) and 1 (enabled)
•softirq_polling_cnt: Specify the polling count. Valid values are integers from 0 to 10.
After upgrade, default parameters fixed my cutoff issue.
Regards.

  • Music drops for a few seconds

I posted this in iTunes forum but also thought be good to post here. With iTunes 6.0.5 I don't have this problem. But with iTunes 7.0.2 I do. When using my my airport express to play music using 7.0.2 the music will drop for about 3 seconds then resume. This happens enough to really notice. On my iMac G3 CRT which still has 6.0.5 on it, no problem. Continous stream of music no drop. All my airport express have been updated to 6.3. This happens with both my G5 iMac and my G4 iBook which have 7.0.2. I am to the point of dumping 7.0.2 and reinstalling 6.0.5.
    Does anyone have any suggestions.
As always thank you for any any insight.

    Hi John,
Can you use a Ethernet Cable and plug it into one of your computers and the Airport Express and test with iTunes 7 and see if it still drops out?
Is the Streaming Buffer Rate the same between iTunes 6 and 7.
    iTunes>Preferences>Advance Tab>General Tab>Streaming Buffer Size> Set it to higher rate>Click Ok.
Are you running OSX 10.4.8 on your computers?

  • Video Frozen audio works for a few seconds

    Hello all heres my problem.
Video frozen on frame navigated too with the track bar.
Audio works for a few seconds after the track bar is used then stops.
Timer on the side dosen't incriment only changes when the track bar is used.
Every time the video is paused and then played again the audio starts from the
same place and stops in the same place again
All videos are downloaded from itunes.
    Works fine in Quicktime.
VGA Card: GTX 480 - drivers up to date
Processor: AMD Phenom II - Quadcore
    Itunes Version: 10.7.0.21
The whole thing strikes me as a failure of the video to increment the current frame and not a result of the failure in the video prossessing
the short amount of audio is proably just buffered ahead of the video for syncing reasons.
I have no real idea though but it is my best guess.
Thank you in advance for any assistance rendered,
    Nargodian.

    Hi Thomas,
Ok this does seem to say that the ports are set up and iChat is connecting properly.
iChat also thinks there is enough bandwidth at the start and makes the connection.
Is this to a PC ? Video freezes have been seen here when connecting to faster PCs.
What you describe though sounds more like a PC that has not "Tuned" their cammera or Mic to the AIM Application.

  • Video pauses and audio continues for a few seconds

I searched and was unable to find an answer. When I play a video in any type of player from youtube to VLC, the video starts and then the video pauses, audio continues for about 2 seconds, and then the video picks up where the audio is. It plays normally after the beginning. Any idea what this could be?

Although I don't have my mouse jumping around, I can see that both YouTube and AVI videos that I play are stuttering during playback. And it's annoying.

  • Audio Drops Out After 30 Seconds

I have just installed Premiere Elements 12 on a new Toshiba with Intel i5 and windows 8. When I play a viedo through Elements the audio drops out after 30 seconds. When I play the same viedo through Windows audio does not drop out. I have an older HP with Intel i3 and Windows 7 running Premiere Elements 10 and I do not have any issues with the audio dropping out. This is the first time I have used this forum so I hopr I'm doing this properly. Thank you, Bob.

With a slower machine like that, it's possible you haven't given the program time to fully conform the audio and video in your file.
Clear the file from your Project Assets and re-add it to your project. Watch the progress along the bottom of the program and wait until it has completed its conforming before you start editing.

  • Theme audio plays for first few seconds of menu before dropped audio

I created my first iDVD movie, and added a .wav file to the main menu. I also used a theme from iDVD4 (montage). When I preview the movie, however (and after burning, this is also on the final DVD), the theme audio plays very loudly for a few seconds while the main menu is booting up, before kicking over to the added audio. Is there any way to make this themed audio clip (which does not appear anywhere, all the audio wells have my added audio clip) disappear, so that I don't have to hear blindingly loud music for 5 second while the DVD boots up the main menu?

  • T410 audio drops out after 10 seconds

I have an issue whereby audio drops out on the internal speakers after 10-20 seconds. Adjusting volume or mute/unmute fixes things for another 5 seconds before audio drops out again.  Headphones work fine from VGA port!  Things I've tried without luck:
    1. updating the sound driver
    2. updating BIOS
    3. reseating battery
    4. disabled all enhancements in the speaker properties
    5. disabled exclusive mode's "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
    6. there are no "disabled" or "disconnected" devices in sound properties
    T410 (model 2522R34)
    Windows 7, x64
Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD with driver 4.95.48.50
A cold beer for whoever suggests the correct fix for this!

Does it happen in Safe Mode?
EDIT: Forgot Safe Mode has no audio. Try launching MSCONFIG and disabling stuff in the Startup tab, then rebooting. Or try a bootable Ubuntu LiveCD.

  • Connection drops for a few seconds?

Got BT infinity installed 2 weeks or so ago, It was alrite for the first week, But recently it's been starting to drop connection for a few seconds when watch Twitch.tv/Youtube or any other Video/Streaming website,
I test my connection on the follow website http://diagnostics.bt.com/login/?workflow=Connectivity , and i get the follow error message - http://gyazo.com/80f24a8a9c2e1438ee14518bd5d44e58
I've restarted Router + the openreach unit, and as i said its been happening for few days now.

As a general rule, it is fine to restart the router at any time. Best not to do anything with the modem unless absolutely necessary. Very occasional fiddling (nobody knows exactly what 'very occasional' means) won't harm, but more frequent changes such as power cycling can cause your speed to drop; the drop may last for a few weeks.

  • GT683dxr FPS Drops for 5-10 seconds

    msi GT683dx
While playing games the laptop fps drops randomly, after doing some research I noticed a flaw it has and many owners of MSI laptops have this in common, while playing games we have a steady framerate and within random intervals the framerate drops drastically and the game itself becomes unplayable for 5-10 seconds while it does this it goes back up to "steady high" frames as it was before getting this random drop.
I called MSI and they told me to make sure it was clear from dust
I have opened the laptop and checked the fans and vents, they are clear from dust.
I have updated my firmware/bios MSI drivers and intel/nvidia latest drivers no luck same thing.
    Thanks in advance !

    Ok thanks!
I will download these and try them when I get home, any special settings I should use or is the software pretty self explanatory?
The main thing they're checking, is to see that your notebook is in fact overheating. If it is, then they have to figure out why it is. If it's because A) the heatsink compound or contact surface is no longer 'good', or B) too much dust or other debris in the heatsink/fan causing a lack of airflow. Usually this would be the cause of the frame rate issue you're referring to. The heatsink compound/contact surface can easily be checked/fixed yourself if you don't mind opening up the notebook (although not recommended). The debris in the fan can easily be checked while doing A as well.
Either way, if the temperature is in fact at 95 degrees C, your notebook is throttling itself to keep it from overheating. This is not good at all.

  • Downloaded new format yesterday and now when playing music the sound is low for first few seconds of each subsequent track. Is this a bug?

Under new format when playing music each track after the first starts in low volume then kicks in within 3 seconds. very irritating. is this a bug?

I'm having the same issue on my iPad (the "new iPad" / 3rd gen with retina display and 30 pin dock connector) after downloading iOS 7 (is that what you meant by the new format, updating to iOS 7?).
The music will play quietly for a few seconds then it will play at the volume it's supposed to.

  • Random Intenet Drops for a Few Seconds

Hi all, my first post on here.  I was hoping to get this issue fixed with a tech visit, but of course, that didn't happen. I started my 105 mbps internet service about a month ago.  I am using the Technicolor Xfinity modem that is currently being rented out.  My desktop is connected via ethernet to the router, and I also have a smartphone, laptop, and Chromecast that connect to the wifi. I live in an apartment complex north of Seattle. Early on, I noticed a few drops in the connection, and I didn't think much of it.  Random drops that sometimes happen.  It got rather annoying when playing video games, but I lived with it.  2 weeks later, I still get them, and I started to use some uptime monitoring software to get a feel for the length of the downtimes and when they happen.  I couldn't notice a pattern about when, but the length is almost always a few seconds.  When I'm on my desktop, the ethernet connection has the red x indicating it has lost connection and then almost immediately it reconnects. I just started a new job and didn't want to pursue the problem too much.  I talked to Comcast tech support via chat.  They basically refresh the signal, call it "good", and move on.  My disconnects are random, but one time, I did receive disconnects while talking to the agent, who didn't really care and said to reset and power cycle the modem. Last week, I get fed up with the disconnects.  They are short, but bad for gaming.  I got a tech to come over yesterday.  He replaced my cable wall outlet.  I have a cable hookup in my bedroom (desktop and modem are there) and in the living room (not used).  The tech checked the signal levels and claimed the signal was "low" but still "within reasonable levels" with "medium spikes." Replacing the cable wall outlet didn't do the trick, so he thought there was a splitter in my apartment.  He checked the living room cable outlet and didn't notice anything odd.  He then decided to check the box for my apartment building.  Claimed everything looked fine.  Both of my cable outlets are dedicated lines to the box outside.  He brought back some small connectors which he tested to see if they improved or cleaned up the signal, none worked.  He told me there was nothing he could do and claimed that the apartment wiring was probably the problem.  He also suggested I move my modem to the living room (really don't want to do this with my desktop in the bedroom, but I may test this out over the weekend).  He reset my modem just because he could, and left.  Regarding the modem, the tech said I had "one of the good ones" and didn't think it was the problem. While I do appreciate the tech supposedly eliminating some variables, I still have the same problem and basically, it was a waste of my time. What should I do next?  I wanted to see if the users here could help me out or provide some other things to check to perhaps narrow down the problem.  I feel like the modem could have been replaced to make sure it wasn't the problem.  I have not checked my cable signal strength and have little experience with that.

  • 2 hour 1080p sequence to NTSC DV widescreen. Quality drops for first 30 seconds.

I am rendering a  2 hour clip from a 1080p sequence to a NTSC DV widescreen preset I have used in the past. The final render exibits strange behavior for the first 30 seconds or so. Quality (birtate it looks like) drops very low then back up mulitple times. Then it settles to the good quality for the rest of the clip. I have tried variable and constant bitrates, all different settings. nothing changes with shortening the length of the clip either.

    Are you rendering, or exporting?
If the former, do you really need to?  May people do it out of habit, not realizing it's largely unnecessary
If the latter, what are the media specs?  What are the sequence and export settings?

  • NI Traktor software - Audio freezes for about half second because of Dual Core

    Hello,
I've been testing out Native Instruments Traktor DJ Studio 3 and very frequently, the audio and timeline would freeze for about half a second and the continue playing. I also have a good low-latency PCI-card soundcard, so that's not causing these pauses.
I've managed to get rid of this problem by turning off the second processor core in the BIOS setup. However, I don't like the fact that I'll have to do that every time I use Traktor.
Is this a software or hardware issue? Software that doesn't use both cores should be able to run without problems, but apparently, there are some interrupts happening that prevent some programs from running smoothly.
That's why I'm posting here instead of the NI forums.

    Hi
It is very nice to make other users to be attentive to this issue but in my opinion it is definitely wrong place. There are much bigger chances that software producer tests own products on different units and hardware configurations than hardware manufacturers.
Usually, the notebook manufacturers are responsible for OS stability and functionality of every delivered hardware component but not for functionality on third part software.
Because of that, try to pick up some info from Native-instruments. If you will find some useful info please let us know. The dual-core units are new on the market and like you can see there are first problems. Every useful info is welcome.
    Good luck!
