WRT 200N V2 Problems

I'm having issues where I can't keep a stable connection from a Broadcom Draft-N card to this router. I have two Intel wireless G cards which connects fine to it but the Broadcom seems to lose connectivity. Also I can't seem to ping other computers. Computers have no software firewall up, and AP mode is off. I can ping the router fine from all the computers. The router also doesn't show all the computers being connected even via CAT5. I am by no means inexperience with computers and have setup plenty of networks and wireless networks before but this one really got me..

Wireless G has been standardized to the point that devices from different manufacturers usually work together.  And pre-N products are backward compatible with these wireless G products.
Wireless pre-N products have not yet reached the point where pre-N devices from various manufacturers will necessarily work together.  Generally it is recommended that you purchase all your pre-N components from the same manufacturer.

  • WRT 610N - PS3 problem

    HI!
I`m having a problem with this. I have an acer 5738ZG laptop (I guess it can`t handle signal over the 5GHz frequens), and a PS3.
When i have the signal set to mix , b/g, or just g, the speed on the PS3 is terrible. But when I set it at b, its "great".
Any reason for this? I would like to take advantage of the n-net on my pc. but then the speed on the PS3 is useless.
    Plaease help.
    Thanks!

What is the model no of the Wireless adapter you are using for PS3...?
If you want to take full advantage of the N router then, you must use the N Adapter on the computers/devices.

  • WRT 300N signal problems.

Hi i have just installed a WRT300N wireless router into my house.
My Laptop is working fine, 100% signal from the router and all is well.
However, the PC in the garage (literally 10 meters away) is showing little to no signal.
I have used the WMP300N PCI router card inside the PC, in an attempt to make the signal better.
The program that came with the PCI card is showing 70-90% signal strength, but still the internet is choppy to say the least.
    Disconnecting and reconnection at random.
Any idea where my problem can be??
I have been assured that this router is more than enough for getting the signal over the space between the router and the PC.
    Please any help.
    Thanks in advance.

First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, Bluetooth (including Bluetooth game controllers), microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, and your neighbor's wireless network. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
    Hope this helps.

  • WRT 160 N PROBLEM

I have internet connection when my desktop is plugged directly to modem... once I plug modem into router and router into destop i get no connection. the computer says i'm connected but it's not and wireless devices say they are connected but aren't.... HELP please.

I used to have the same router at home which is a v2. Setup of the router depends on your internet service provider (ISP). These two articles from Linksys support site might help.
Setting up router for Cable ISP
Setting up router for DSL ISP
If they don't, come back and let the forum know.

  • PPPd / PPPoE "lag" problem

I've been using arch linux for quite some time, but currently I'm trying to set up my modem in bridge mode.
It works fine, but there is one little issue. When I try to ping anything, the latency is perfect and there is no packet loss but it seems like fron time to time it just hangs. This hang whon't be noticed by the ping utility as a packet loss or greater latency, it will just stop for some time time and continue as if nothing has happened. It could be a sing that this is a software problem, and not my provider or the hardware.
I notice that too when acessing ,for example, any site fron my browser (even if the site has a 17ms latency!), sometimes it just hang on the loading for some time).
My machine has a nForce 4 chipset, the forcedeth module is loaded and the speedstream 4200 router/modem is directly connected to the eth0, the adresses are automaticaly assigned via DHCP and on Windows XP using RASPPPoE it works perfectly with no "lag".
    This is my peer file:
    #/etc/ppp/peers/brt
    plugin rp-pppoe.so
    # ro_pppoe_ac 'your ac name'
    # rp_pppoe_service 'your service name'
    # network interface
    eth0
    #login name
    name "[email protected]"
    usepeerdns
    persist
#Uncomment this if you want to enable dial on demand
    #demand
    #idle 180
    defaultroute
    hide-password
    noauth
If anyone has some clue on this, just share your idea!

the 4200 is a great little device, best router i could find for speed and stability when i was working at a residential service provider
i've never tried doing pppoe from the desktop, but have always had them behind linksys wrt54g routers (running dd-wrt) with no problems
you can get dd-wrt images that load in vmware, perhaps see if they're using any different setup in the config files of that project?
personally, i think NATting off the router (as you are now, as i am with dd-wrt) is better anyway, it provides network management, and a good level of security, so you don't have to worry about a firewall on your own LAN boxes

  • Apple TV 2G (Airplay and Homesharing) can only stream from devices on the same wireless access point range??

    connection:
40 Mbps Fiber Broadband connection using:
    Devices:
    1. Main Modem/router (AP1): Huawei HG8245 (provided by ISP) - Wireless enabled.
    2. Remote Access point (AP2): Linksys/Cisco E3200 Wireless gigabyte router flashed with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/14/11) mini (Cascaded -wired- LAN to LAN from main modem).
    3. Wireless Repeater to cover a dead spot  (AP3): Linksys/Cisco E1000 wireless repeater.
    4. Apple Tv (AT2G) with home sharing/airplay enabled.
5.( Ipad) with home sharing on itunes enabled.
    6. Win7 (PC) using iTunes with Home sharing enabled.
all devices are updated to their latest firmware.
In order to cover a large 3 story house with Wifi. I had (AP1) is located on the first floor, while (AP2) is located in the basement floor directly wired by LAN to LAN with (AP1). (AP3) is located on the Ground floor away from the living room to repeat wireless network into the back yard. While (AT2G) is located in the living room on the ground floor right in the middle of both (AP1) + (AP2) while connected via Wifi.
Network SSID, security, passphrase and wireless settings of (AP2) are identical to (AP1) to create a single big LAN/WLAN roaming network where all devices connected to both wireless access points can find/share the others. As understood, it's refered to as bridging.
I have noticed that my iphone/ipad does not show the airplay button anywhere within the wireless network. it seems that the apple TV randomly choses to connect to the AP with stronger signal, or switch to the other in case of a reboot to one of them.
to elaborate further, if i was sitting in the living room (groundfloor), trying to airplay some you tube contents via Wifi to my Apple TV, i may not find the airplay button available all the time, i found out the reason is while i'm wirelessly connected to AP1, the Apple TV was connected to AP2 and both deviced cannot detect each others to enable my purpose. that goes the same for Home Sharing. only if my Ipad/PC and Apple Tv are on the same wireless AP. they would detect each others immediately.
although, the second AP (AP2) is suppose to extend my wireless network of the same subnet in which any device connected can be found.
After all sorts of trial and error tweaking my router/access point, I thought the problem would be due to the Linksys 3200 capability of bridging WLAN and lacks few protocols that enables my purpose. i have flashed the firmware to a DD-WRT, but again, problem was not solved.
I have not tried having my Apple Tv wired to either router/AP, but i assume it may work well if i do so. i still need to solve this wireless connection issue though.
Am i the only one with this problem, would there be something wrong with my setup?
    Your feedback is highly appreciated.

You may or may not already have your network set up correctly, it's just that I can't tell from what you have said.
I have a main router provided by my ISP, I have several other Airport Extremes and Airport expresses connected by Ethernet, all set up to bridge the network created by the main router.
Each maker has their own settings, but bridging should be reasonably obvious. In simple terms my main router distributes IP addresses to all devices, the Airports bridge that network by passing these addresses to the devices from the main router. A base station that isn't in bridging mode will distribute its own addresses to the devices connected to it.
I don't really follow your next point.
instruction for configuration vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, the best course of action here is to refer to the manual. If everything is set up properly the addresses of everything on your network will have identical sets of numbers for the first 3 of 4 groups of numbers that make up an address, the last set must always be different. I think the part you are referring to with your DD-WRT is the option to have Ethernet and wifi bridged or not.
Some routers may be easier to configure than others, but generally speaking they should all work with the Apple TV. 5Ghz is less likely to suffer interference but it is much more likely to be blocked by solid objects, it may or may not be an advantage.

  • Print Color Issues Upgrading to CS 4 from PSE 5

I am using the trial version of CS 4 Extended and have been finding that my pictures print much darker than they appear on my monitor. When I print the same image using PS Elements 5 the image comes out as expected. I played with one image and had to increase the Brightness from 50 to 100% to get a similar print result.
I am using an Acer monitor, an Epson Stylus Photo R800 printer, and have calibrated my monitor using Eye-One Match. Are there setings I need to change in CS 4 to get the print I expect?

Bottom line. Make a bootable backup/clone to another volume, test it to ensure that boots the machine, and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall anything. For some folks (including me during beta-testing), the upgrade and A&I installations on top of a Tiger build are not removing system-level components or updating their permissions, appropriately. In that case, E&I, followed by migrating, seems to fix things. If the upgrade or A&I install hosed things up, do the E&I thing, and then file a bug report with Apple.
Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report WRT to installation problems.

  • Stream 7 Sleep Mode Kills WiFi

Ok, This is going to sound Strange but here it goes.
Got a new stream 7, connected it to my wifi (802.11 g/n). When the tablet is awake and running it works great, wireless works great, etc. When it goes to sleep however, my wifi in the house for all the other devices (Phones, other computers, wireless bridge - that were working fine when tablet was awake) all loose the wireless connection, and ability to go to the internet, and so does the tablet. When the tablet is reconnected to the wireless  everything seems to work again. About the only thing i can think of is its 802.11 Power Save, but theres no way to turn that off. Furthermore, if i disable Wake on pattern match on the NIC, i loose the ability to go into sleep mode. The only hypothisis i have, is the Stream 7 is sending an 802.11 power save sleep packet (constently?) which the router dosent know what to do with and freezes the whole thing. Turning off the Wi-Fi or disconnecting the network makes the problem immedatly go away.
I have updated the BIOS on the tablet, updated the firmware on my router, Router is a Linksys E900 running DDWRT (which has no problems with any other devices), Any idea WTH is going on here? I have never seen a device do this before.

i think i got my problem figured out. It seems that it was my router - kind of. I had upgraded my router with DD-WRT, however it appears that DD-WRT does not support the "sleep" mode this tablet uses. After much troubleshooting, I was able to verify this by buying a new router; upgrading it to DD-WRT and the problem persisted. I downgraded it to the stock firmware and the problem went away. For me, this problem was especally irritating because it would bring down my wireless bridge. The bridge still occasionally drops, but it no longer appears to be related to the tablet's operation. I forgot to add that my other wi-fi devices no longer disconnect as well and their operation appears to be normal.

  • Form bean with int property and netui:select tag

    Hi,
I've recently started using WebLogic 8.1 for a client project. There's
been a bit of a learning curve, but I've been able to find most of my
answers in the docs or on the dev2dev site. This one, though, I've been
    unable to manage.
I have a database table, call it foo. In it I have columns for id
(numeric) and name (string). I created a database control to read that
    data:
    select id, name
    from foo
I then want to use this data to populate a select list in a form, which
is going to be used to submit new records for another table. For the data:
    id     name
    1     Foo
    2     Bar
    3     Bletch
I want to generate a select list (this is the output HTML, not the netui
    tags):
    <select name="foo">
    <option value="1">Foo</option>
    <option value="2">Bar</option>
    <option value="3">Bletch</option>
    </select>
My first question is what the best way to do this is. I was able to get
this working by creating a database control, which returns an array of a
custom Foo class. I then pass that array into a utility method which
converts it into a Map, and pass that map to the netui:select tag in the
optionDataSource attribute. This works, but it seems rather roundabout,
so I'm wondering if there's a better way to do it, without needing the
conversion utility method in the middle. I tried playing around with
the control, I tried using different netui tags (I thought I could do it
with a repeater and netui:selectOption tags, but that didn't work), and
    nothing else worked.
The second problem arose when I was tying the result to a Form Bean. I
created a bean with all the data that I was reading from the form, and
at first, I just made everything in the form bean be a String. For this
select, though, the values are ids, so I thought I'd just make them be
ints in the form bean instead. However, when I did that, WL decided
that it wanted to add in a default option with a value of 0:
    <select name="foo">
    <option value="1">Foo</option>
    <option value="2">Bar</option>
    <option value="3">Bletch</option>
    <option value="0" selected>0</option>
    </select>
I've tried to find a way to get rid of that 0, and I can't. Is there a
way to prevent it from sticking in a default value like that? Or do I
have to just leave it as a String in the form bean to get it to work the
    way I want?
Thanks in advance for your help.

wrt your 2nd problem, in the jpf, for the form bean, are you declaring your id
    like this:
    private int id;
if so, try declaring it w/ a valid value, like:
    private int id = 1;
    -tanya

  • When is enough enough?

Thus far, I've had three screen replacements (all bad from factory), a hard drive replacement, USB connector hardware replacement, and something else I can't find the paperwork for. The machine is in now for a motherboard replacement and further work on the USB issue. So in four times for repair, and pretty much every major component replaced at least once, some multiple times. This, in sum, apparently does NOT constitute enough of a problem for Apple to replace, rather than repair, my powerbook. However, they smilingly told me that if it needs to be fixed AGAIN, it will. Why am I sure that that will happen the day after my AppleCare plan runs out in two months? Does anyone have further details on Apple's standards for replacement? I found out earlier today that my repair is "on hold" while Apple does a "global search" for a logic board for my machine, and no one will give me an estimate of how long that will take. This has sort of sent me over the edge, and I'm ready to throw in the towel on this machine.

Thanks, Wayne. Yes, I'm in the process of trying to sort out the various legal remedies I might have wrt to this problem. I've already called and asked the Applecare folks about a replacement already (at the sorta-suggestion of Apple Store staff), and I was given a solid no on replacement now, but a promise to replace if something ELSE goes wrong. This is the fourth time it's been in the shop, and I frankly have ZERO confidence in the repair process, given that this machine has gone through multiple repairs in an effort to address two recurring, but separate, issues. (And this is in ADDITION to other things like the hard drive replacement and USB problems.) As best I can ascertain from the various Apple-related forums, this should put me squarely in the replacement policy of Apple, but thus far, no dice.
Anyone else here care to offer up any info on what their policy takes into account? Many thanks.

  • Some problem WRT-54gs

Hello! I have a router LinkSys wrt 54 gs. (ver. 5.1 firmware 1.50.5). Ther is a problem with it. Computers of the work's group can't see each other's Netbios names connecting to the router.  How to resolve this problem ?

you should be able to use v5 i think.
RV042 1.3.79 etc etc is my Linksys hardware and firmware i am using.
goto your TCP/IP settings on each computer. goto the advanced setting, and then WINS settings.
make sure you have Enable "Netbios over TCP/IP" and not the default setting which is NetBios from DHCP server (which would be your router which does no handle Netbios i guess)

  • Problem with Port Forwarding (when PPTP is up) in WRT-160N

    Hi, everybody!
I'm looking for some help with Port Forwarding in my new router from Linksys. I've bought the router afew daysago, and was badly surprised when I found out that there is DD-WRT firmware is installed in it (the router was 100% NEW when I've purchased it). I have downloaded the latest original Linksys firmware file and successfully flashed it.
But I still have problem (same I had on DD-WRT firmware too) with port forwarding for my DC++ and Vuze (app for torrents): I've written port forward for ports 49151 (for Vuze) and 4000 (for DC++) to be forwarded to my desktop computer (IP 192.168.1.201) -- I've seen a post at this forum, that there could be a problem, if you forward to an IP, which is inside DHCP local zone, so I've forwarded it to .201 IP (my local DHCPzone is 192.168.1.100 - .149). But forwardind doesn't work ((
    What's wrong?
    My configuration:
    Router IP: 192.168.1.1
PPTP (I've got it from my ISP)
    IP address: 192.168.226.127
    Default Gateway: 192.168.226.2
    DNS 1: 192.168.1.1
    DNS 2 & 3: 0.0.0.0
    PPTP Server IP Address: 192.168.226.2
    Username: ****
    Password: ****
    Single Port Forwarding:
Application name     External port     Internal port     Protocol     To IP address     Enabled
    Vuze                       49151               49151             Both           192.168.1.201    Checked
    DC                          4000                 4000              Both           192.168.1.201    Checked
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As you have mentioned in your post that your ISP has provided you a PPTP connection with an IP address: 192.x.x.x. The IP address which is provided to you by your ISP is in a Private Range, and if you try to forward any ports on your router it will not work, as your ISP modem will block that port. So you need to get a Public IP address from your ISP.
As you are getting Private IP from your ISP, so this connection is called as NAT behind NAT, and your Modem is acting like a Router.
So now you have 2 options, get the Public IP address from your ISP or change the connection type.

  • Problems with WRT-320N

I recently left town for about a week and when I came back and attempted to stream media to my PS3, the performance was abysmal.  I restarted my media server but this did not fix things.  A reboot to the WRT-320N was necessary to restore performance.
Not exactly sure what the issue is, but would be happy to help someone debug this, as this is clearly a deficiency in the firmware that linksys provides.  I am running Firmware
    Version: 1.0.03 build 010 Jul 24, 2009
    thanks,
    asher

That sounds exaclty the same as my problem. Maybe you can try the tips in my topic about this? Until now those did not work for me, but I would very much want to know if they work for you.

  • Problems w/ WRT 300N

Hello, I have been experiencing decreased connection strength through my WPC300N wireless notebook adapter using a WRT 300N wireless router. At boot-up, the signal strength will be low, with 100+Mbps as the speed. After a few minutes it drops to 54 Mbps, then 13 or 11 Mbps, then finally 2 and 1 Mbps, signal strength very low. The internet is as slow as molasses at this point. I am using windows XP with all service packs. I live in a two story house, with the router on the second floor. However, our old Wireless G router (can't remember the model, it didn't have any speed or range boost though) would get to the laptop where its at now. I thought a WRT300N would be better, but I am having this problem now. My laptop with a Wireless G card holds up at 54 Mpbs all the time. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks a bunch in advance.

No, the changes did not make a difference. Sorry for the long delay in response.  The signal is still dropping off very badly.  I am still having no problems connecting the WRT 300N off my really old laptop that is using an old Linksys Wireless G card. In fact, the other day I was downloading two programs at 100Kbps EACH!
BUT, the laptop using the Wireless N card is still slowing to a snails pace within 10 minutes of connecting to the Router.  I dont know what else to do, I am thinking of trying different locations for the router to see if I can get a more stable connection.  The 14 day return period has long since passed, so I have to find a way to make this work.  But as of now, I am still having problems.

  • WRT 1900 2.4 problem

Was hoping someone could help.  Recently bought a WRT 1900.  Set up was easy.  Have seperate SSID for 2.4 and 5ghz.  The 5ghz which our mobile devices use, runs fine and gets download speeds up tp 60mbs over the net.  The 2.4 ghz SSID is the problem.  This connects to my laptop, Xbox one, and WI U, as well as a yahmaha reciever.  At first its fine and gets the same download speeds.  Then all of a sudden the connection speed will drop on my laptop and i can only get 2mbs per second download speeds.  Verifie this on all the other devices.  The 5ghz remains fine. I f i reset the router the speed goes back up to normal but after a few hours it drops again and I have to reset it again.  Is there something I am missing?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
What wireless modes are you using?
2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or Mixed on 5Ghz?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.

Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.metageek.net/support/metageek-software-archives/ to find out. Use v3. How many?
WMM Support must be enabled for single wireless N mode to function.
    Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
