  • Internet "SLOOOOOW DOWN"

I have a new Imac with 10.5.5 (Lepord) and web pages take forever to load. The Mac is on a domain but NOT "joined" to the domain. The Mac gets it ip from a DCHP server that is also a DNS server. The correct order of DNS servers, from internet to external show up fine on the Mac, even ntlookup on the Mac is responsive, takes about 1-2 seconds on the results of ntlookup on yahoo. However webpages take forever to load using Safari and Firefix. Once I connect to Speakeasy the download test results are normal and upload is normal too, but pages themselves take forever to load. The home page has taken upto 45 seconds to load. Simple sites like nba.com take 40 or so seconds to load.
What is odd is, when I run VMFusion with Windows XP pro, on the same Imac IE has no problem at all. Webpages load just fine, no slow down.
The primary connection is wireless, using G speed, WPA. However I have tried adjustments, tried N speed, wired lan, by passing switch, using another switch, etc..same problem. MAC OS internet slow down, XP using VM normal.
    Any suggestions?

When I was in the market for a cordless phone, I read up about 802.11g and decided to avoid getting any 2.4 GHz phones. (At the time I didn't own a wireless router.) This should be fine for most cases, but since I live in a condominium,
there's no guarantee our neighbor would take the same precautions.
I've noticed signal droppage when the microwave is running as well. If the connection needs to be pretty reliable, I would recommend just using Ethernet.

  • I started to download Lion but internet went down, do I have to pay again?

I started to download Lion but internet went down, do I have to pay again?

You shouldn't. Open the App Store, login with the Apple ID and password used to purchase Lion and press your Options/Alt key. Then click on Purchases at the top of the windows. Your purchases should show up and Lion should have maybe a Resume or Install button to click on.

  • Internet shutting down

Lately I have been experiencing the Internet shutting down and the phone returning to the home screen. Is this normal or a defect with the phone?

When you say the internet is shutting down, does this mean when using Safari it quits and your iPhone returns to the Home screen?
If so, this isn't the internet shutting down. This means Safari has crashed.
    Try the following.
With Safari available, press and hold the Home button for 6 seconds or so until your iPhone returns to the Home screen. This force quits the application.
Next go to Settings > Safari.
Select Clear History, Clear Cookies, and Clear Cache.
Next do an iPhone reset, which is done by pressing and holding the Home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.

  • Internet slows down at night to less than 1Mbs, poor customer service

I'm having the same problem. I had originally 1-3 Mbps (Oct 2008 - Jan 2012). It used to work fine but then the speed seems to be slowing down as years passed by, I was getting less than 1Mbps most of the time so I upgraded to 3-7Mbps with 2 years holding period (Jan 2012 to Jan 2014). From Jan 2012 to Nov. 2012 it was fine, then starting Dec. 2012, the internet started to slow down at night. I'm getting 6-7Mbps during daytime and until around 9pm, then the internet slows down to less than 1Mbps after 9pm. Then starting mid January 2013, the situation seems to get worst, the internet slows down starting around 7pm, and then on the 3rd wk of January, the internet started to slow down as early as 5pm.
I've contacted the customer service twice. First, the person who attended remotely accessed my computer and after more than 15 minutes trying to find fault at my computer, wiring, set-up or wireless router (instead of the verizon network), he realized he doesn't have any excuses and instead instructed me to hard reset the modem. I told him that if I hard reset the modem, he will be disconnected to my computer. He said, "that's fine, I will call you you to give instruction on how to set-up the modem". After I have hard reset the modem, he never called up and I was left all by myself figuring out how to set-up the modem. I've contacted the customer service the 2nd time, a different person attended and exactly the same thing happened, the guy instructed me to hard reset the modem but never called up after he got disconnected. I guess this is their expertise, how to rudely leave the communication once they figure out that they can't resolve the problem.
Once the 2 years holding period is over, I will change to other internet provider and will never switch back to verizon again. I will never ever recommend verizon to my friends and will share them my experience with verizon.

This is one of the reasons we are leaving Verizon as well.  We previously left Brighthouse because the initial deal sounded great, until the rebates expired.  When the price jacked up, I told them they had to better because Brighthouse was much less expensive for the same package but their service didn't slow down at 7pm.  The customer service agent said I really couldn't compare the two because Verizon has a superior quality of service.  I asked, "Then why does my internet slow down around 7pm, because the Brighthouse service didn't do that".  All the customer service agent has to say was, "That's not true."  Nice try.  He essentially called me a liar, about something I've seen firsthand, and I have experienced that same 7pm slowdown with a similar service we had in NC.  Sorry Verizon, we left Brighthouse because we thought we were saving a few bucks, and getting a higher speed on our internet.  Not true on both accounts and we're going back.    PS To the person who made this initial blog post, I noticed there were 484 views but no "likes"  - it's because that button won't let you click it, at least that's what I experienced on my end.  I'm certain there are a lot more people out there who deal with this same issue and are quite frustrated.

  • Downloaded songs frome itunes and internet went down and they will not play and it also caused other songs not to but most will what do i need to do wiyhout erasing everything

downloaded songs from itunes and the internet went down and they will not play and also caused other songs already downloaded not to play what can i do

You can try a couple of different things. First - restart the iPod and see if the songs will play.
Restart the iPod by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't help - delete the songs and then download them again. You can download purchased music again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with originally and as long as you live in one of these countries.
Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in  Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.
If you are running iOS 5 on the iPod - You can delete songs by swiping across the song in list view to bring up a red delete button. Tap the button to delete the songs. Download the songs again in the purchased tab in iTunes.

  • Unidentified traps and interface down alerts LMS 4.2

    Hi all,
Sometimes we have unidentified traps in our log, we don't know where they come from.
In high severity faults we see an active alert with device name “Unidentified” event name unresponsive but with a certain ip address.
What are these alerts about? Can I filter them?
A second issue I have is that I get interface down alerts. But when we log on to the device, there is no interface down at all. We can also ping the device from the lms server at that time. I have been told that the admin state and operational state has to be up.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Joris

    Hi Joris,
Generic trap support is a new feature introduced in LMS 4.2 release. look at the below
    document also.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/user/guide/lms_monitor/TrapFwd.html#wpxref13049
LMS 4.2 release onwards DFM will display any unprocessed traps comming from device in
fault monitor screen as unidentified trap under Inform alarm.
For the other issue , it could be a DFM database issue , try to REDISCOVER those devices in
DFM and see how it works
    Thanks
    Afroz

  • If the Internet is down can I still watch TV?

I'm currently with TalkTalk TV and am considering switching. With TalkTalk TV if the Internet goes down the set top box becomes useless, you can't watch live tv (even through the aerial) or watch recorded programmes that are stored on it. Is BT Vision the same?

From experience, I find that the EPG goes missing after a few days now, it used to be 2 weeks - thanks BT!!
You can still watch freeview, but without knowing what you're watching
As Guilbo mentions, you'll not be able to set up or manually record anything after a certain time - can't remember how long this is but it aint long.
There is no time limit for playing back stored recordings
Though if the box is switched off at the mains and back on again without an internet connection, you've got nothing.

  • I feel that my internet slowed down significantly.(WRT54G V5 Router)

When i first got my dsl and my router it was the fastest thing ive seen and i downloaded in seconds and i could play online games flawlessly, well now my internet slowed down and its not me being used to the fast speed. It takes me minutes to download a song and im experiencing serious lag play games, does anybody know the cause of this and wat do i do about it?

Compare the speed you will get when you connect the computer directly to the modem. If that is faster it is a router problem else it is simply a crowded internet connection and a problem with your ISP.

  • Intermittant radio interface down on 1130 APs

I am having unified wireless installation, with WiSM on 6500 at central site and around 90 nos of 1130 APs located at remote locations ( over WAN) as well as some APs locate in the same location.
The APs are configured in WCS, using default AP template.
Alsomot all APs are showing minor alarms saying " radio interface threshold violated".
In addition, a major alarm posted frequently on WCS saying "radion interface down".
Cleints are complaining that they are loosing connectkion momentarily but connected again automatically wo WLAN. But they will have to log in to application programs in such cases.
a.Does anybody have similar experience, and
    b. What are the best settings for 1130 APs trhat we have to do explicitly in setting up the WCS template ?
    Thanks ,

Might be due to interference and the fact that RRM is enalbled and the ap's are changing channels causing the radios to shut down temporarily. Either set the channel or try to change the threshold.

  • VIF Bound Physcial Interface Down

    Hi Guys!
We are trying to connect FI 6248 (UCSM 2.1.1a) to Brocade 6510 swtich(One FI to one of the two Brocade switches separately). The ports are configured as FC Uplink port and the FI's work in End-host mode. We created the service profile. After associating the SP to one of the blades the two errors occurs immediately:
VIF <number> Bound Physical Interface Down
VIF <number> Bound Physical Interface Down
and this relates to the 2 vHBAs created in SP. Is this normal situation if OS isn't already installed on the host? We can't configure SAN zone from the brocade side because we don't see any WWPNs of the configured vHBAs in the SP. We see only FI's WWPNs(as I think). NPIV mode is enabled from the Brocade side.
Can someone explain what can cause this problem?

    Sergey,
This is expected if there is no OS installed yet, see the possible reasons for the VIF down in this bug:

  • Bringing an interface down using a network profile

I use netcfg to switch between network profiles... but when I switch from a profile using ethernet to a profile using wireless, it just adds the other interface... so that both ethernet and wireless are up.
The only way I know to bring an interface down (say, ethernet) is to edit NET_PROFILES in /etc/rc.conf and put in a profile using wireless, and do /etc/rc.d/network restart.
But is there an easier way? Is there some sort of command I can put inside my profile which uses wireless to bring down the ethernet interface?
    Thanks.

I'm not infront of a Linux box right now, but perhaps if you could run, as root:
    # ifconfig eth0 down;
of course, replace eth0 with the appropriate interface you wish to take down.
p.s. - I hope i'm not completely getting your question wrong because I feel I may be.

  • Force dialer interface down

Can I force dialer interface down until some one dials in?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

The router is configured as a hub VPN sever for my mobiles users.
I don't have the option for dynamic routing due to the remote end.
Primary connection is ip for mobile users. But if they can't use ip for any reason I want them to come in via Isdn.
The hub needs to route ip unless it sees that the remote has come in via Isdn. I have considered a gre tunnel on the Isdn but that's over heads I'd prefer to avoid.
