WRT350N can't see internet

I may have bought the wrong product.  The box and online info said it included a WAP and I wanted to be able to attach storage as well.  I'll give detailed info so hopefully someone can get me straightened out.
I'm running a Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP2 network at home.  The server connects to the internet via one NIC through HughesNet and to the rest of my wired network via another.  All client computer internet traffic is routed through the server.  Each user (wife and kids) has their own storage space on a RAID in the server that is mapped to reconnect when they log on from any client.
Using the default settings on the WRT350N gets me access to the internet from the clients, but the mapped drives won't reconnect.  First online support tech wanted to change the router IP after disabling NAT in the Advanced Routing tab.  After disabling it I lost all connectivity and the chat session.  Reset the router and tried again.
Second chat session was done from a client PC connected to the wired network with another connected through the WRT350N so I wouldn't lose connection with the chat.  This time I was asked to change the router IP and disable DHCP.  After the changes I was told to reboot the router and my server.  So much for a stable chat connection.
Current network configuration is as follows:
HughesNet appliance has a default IP of 192.168.0.1.  It is connected to the server and has assigned 192.168.0.8 to the NIC.  The server connects to the rest of the network through the second NIC to a multi-port switch.  The server has assigned this NIC 192.168.16.2.  Addresses from 192.168.16.0 to 192.168.16.9 are reserved by the server.  Clients are assigned 192.168.16.10 to 192.168.16.254 by the server's DHCP.  I have  3 UPS, 2 CD servers and a PDU assigned static IP addresses between 192.168.16.91 and 192.168.16.99.  The WRT350N now has a static of 192.168.16.10.
With the latest settings I still can't get to the mapped drives either by the assigned letters or by typing the full URL for the server space.  From a wireless PC, typing 192.168.16.2 takes me to the server's main page, and 192.168.0.1 gets me to the HughesNet appliance's status page, so I'm getting to and through the server and to the appliance.  Any attempt to connect to a web site returns an error saying I'm not connected to the internet.  I can see other computers connected to the wired ports on the WRT305N and the router itself.  I can also access the router at 192.168.1.1.  From a PC connected to the wired ports of the router, when I try to access anything other than the router's setup page, I get the not connected error.  Using Windows Explorer to look at the entire network, I see the wired and wireless PC in my internal domain, and the router in another network identified as MSHOME.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Update-
After looking at posts for other devices, I moved the connection to my wired LAN from the Internet port on the router to one of the LAN ports.  I don't know if this is the correct fix or just a patch, but it seems to work.  I'd still like to hear from someone with better technical knowledge to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

  • Windows 7 Pro can't see Internet IP's after recovery from having WGA invalidate OEM license

My Win 7 Pro receives an IP, can ping local IPs, can see right up to the internal router IP but cannot see the internet. Yes the network functions for other PCs.
    Important historical data:
Some weeks ago my spare admin pc was rebooting after the usual monthly WAU when it failed to complete the last stages of installation of the updates (this would have been June 2014 updates.) Instead of booting normally to Windows, the system ran a bunch
of registry change attempts and then booted to a black Windows desktop that contained the dreaded "You're a filthy pirate" message that Microsoft so gently slaps onto newly discovered Winhacks. The trouble is my Gigabyte/AMD powered barebones box
was purchased, by ME, from TigerDirect.ca WITH an OEM Windows 7 Pro bundle. Now I should point out that I have suspected the Seagate Barracuda that was included with this machine as being a little off as the machine would occasionally freeze up or reboot itself.
Instead of putting up with this HDD any longer, I ghosted the fractured build off of the Seagate and onto a new WD Caviar Black. On first boot the system seemed to work but the "pirate" message was still there. I then attempted to go through the
recovery wizard and fix my license issue. The wizard failed and advised that the installation was corrupt and that I should reinstall. I reinstalled (not scratch installed) Windows and was rewarded by a successful install  minus the activation. I proceeded
to phone the MS automated attendant and successfully activated my installation. I have a functioning network card but can only see LAN stuff. What the deuce? Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 with  AMD Phenom II X6 1045T.

    You can try this:
From administrative account, go to start, type cmd, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. Click Yes, if UACD prompots. Now, type the following command and restart the PC:
    netsh winsock reset
    After restart, check internet connectivity.

  • Win 2k can't see internet via WPC54g

Trying to set up my friend's Thinkpad to access the internet wirelessly. Here's the config:
DSL cable modem/router with DHCP turned on ethernetted to Airport Extreme
Airport Extreme in bridge mode (doesn't act as a router)
I can access the internet wirelessly on the MacMini
I can access the internet wirelessly on the iBook
I cannot access the internet on the Win2k Thinkpad using the Linksys WPC54G 802.11g wireless card, although the laptop does see the Airport Extreme.
I can access the internet on the Thinkpad by connecting to the Airport Extreme via ethernet.
    Please advise.

]I read your tech article, but how does that apply to Win2K (besides XP being built on the 2K kernel)?
Only Windows XP has native support for wireless networking.
Other versions of Windows do not have native support for wireless networking.
What this means is that, unlike Windows XP, you can not plug in a wireless adapter and expect Windows to recognise it and start working.
You will need to install some kind of software configuration utility that came with the adapter. Each manufacturer has their own software so as a result the process of using these utilities to connect a Windows (non-XP) computer to an Airport wireless network will be different and so no generic guide is available.
Having said that you may find the following information on things to watch for useful.

  • Airport Extreme setup - can't see internet

Hi, newbe here. I've got a Lynksys ADSL Router (WAG160N) which has problems with wireless connection. After exhaustive efforts to troubleshoot i've finally given up and got an Airport Extreme. I want to use the Linksys as a basic modem by switching off the wireless transmission and just using an ethernet connection between the Linksys unit and the Apple Airport Extreme. In setting up the Airport Extreme it doesn't seem to see the internet connection from the Linksys Ethernet. I know the Linksys Ethernet works fine as when I connect either my mac or my Window's laptop to it they immediately see it and can connect to the internet with no problems. Why can't my Apple Airport Extreme see the internet connection? It doesn't even recognise that an ethernet cable is connected?
    Thanks.

    scotty72, welcome to the discussions!
I assume that you are using the same ethernet cable to connect from the Lynksys to the AirPort Extreme that you use when you test the connection using your laptops, is that correct? If not, then check your ethernet cable or try another.
I am not clear on whether you have already configured the AirPort Extreme and it will not connect to the Linksys or you have not configured it yet. Can you clarify on that?

  • HT5457 I can't see Internet vides or Netflix on my IPad II

I can't play ANY video on m y iPad 2 including news clips from CNN, USA Today, YouTube, etc., or Netflix movies. Do I need to download an app that I'm missing or add something to the OS? I appreciate the help!

Thanks James. I deleted the Netflix app and then reinstalled a new version from the app store. It seems to work now with Netflix AND the other video sources that I mentioned. How the new Netflix app would correct the other video sources is beyond me but it all seems to be ok now. Thanks!

My apple tv main menu no longer displays the "movies" section, just internet, computers, and settings. Does anyone know why or how to get it to show again? Recently rented a movie directly through apple tv but can't see the "movies" section in main menu now. WiFi and home sharing are working.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
If you are still having problems try a restore.

  • HT1551 Apple TV - can only see Computers and Settings options (no internet)

sine the apple2 tv software was updated last week I can only see options for computers and settings
whilst my internet connection is clearly working, I cannot access youtube or internet radio as there is no internet option
any ideas how to fix this pls?

My ATV3 has worked beautifully for the last week.  We woke up this morning to find this problem. Nothing weird happened over night - my entire network has been up all night with no resets or anything strange.
The ATV3 accessing all of my Home Sharing content, so I know the network is fine (wired). Tried resetting and cycling power.  Tried changing locations/setting language.  Nothing. I even tried resetting my DSL Router, but to no avail.
I've got nothing fancy going on with my location, short of being in Canada.
Update: Oh, and I have a 2nd ATV3 downstairs, also on a wired connection.  Just found out that it, too, is exhibiting the same error.  Although, I'd left it in 'iTunes Match' last night and the first thing I saw when I started it up was "Error:  iTunes is Unavailable. Please try again later".  Plugged my old Popcorn Hour in and it, at least, is working fine.

  • Can't see printer or shares when connected via Internet Sharing

I recently switched from a 2006 to a 2008 Mac Pro. Rather than do a migration I simply took the hard drives from the old machine and put them in the new one.
I then upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I use Internet Sharing to share my Mac Pro's Ethernet connection via wifi, but the other Macs can't see the Mac Pro's printer or shares when connected in this way. They can access the internet. If I connect a machine via the LAN rather than Internet Sharing, the shares and printer are visible.
This worked fine on Lion on the old machine. Any ideas?

Seems that the issue is something to do with connecting via WPA2. When I set Internet Sharing to use WEP (by option-clicking the security menu), I'm then able to see the network shares and the printer.

  • Can see internet but cannot see modem

I have several machines and printers in my house, all of them are in some way - with or without wires - connected to the AEBS. System works great! I recently moved from dial-up (through the AEBS) to WiMAX. What a difference!
While I have many machines in the house, I have reduced the set-up for this testing to the two scenarios presented. Using the Motorola Canopy modem connected via ethernet to PowerBook, I can use the internet and see the modem diagnostics page. Using the Canopy connected to AEBS via ethernet to the WAN port and wireless (802.11) to the PowerBook, I can see the internet but I cannot see the modem diagnostics page. I believe that it has something to do with the way I am setting options in the AEBS (or maybe the PowerBook), but I have not been able to figure it out. Can some-one please help?
Note: While I am using the Motorola Canopy modem, I don't think that matters, I think that any cable or DSL modem would do the same thing.
    Thank you,

You question was about a Zyxel modem, but you indicate that you have other equipment...an AirPort Express, Airport Extreme, etc.
Is the Zyxel "modem" your only modem/router?
Or, do you have other Apple routers connected to the Zyxel "modem"?
Changes are, although the Zyxel device may be called a "modem", it is really a gateway....a combination modem and router in one box.
Can you provide the model number of your "modem"?

  • Can't see certain things (invisible) when using internet on Windows 7.

I think this is a Windows 7 issue I am having.  I just got my Ideapad with Windows 7.  When using both Internet Explorer and Firefox, certain text, image, and boxes are invisible..or so faint I can barely see them.  Fox example, as I type this, I see no box under subjet.  All that I see is white space.  I have to tab around to find the boxes to type in.  Same thing with this text box where I am typing now.  There is no box.  Another example is the streets on a map in google maps...the smaller white streets are almost invisible.  Since this is happening in both IE and Firefox, I am thinking it must be a Windows 7 issue.  Anyone know how to fix it?

Actually I just figured this out today after receiving no help from customer service (i talked to 2 agents) and pretty much you need to update the drivers. for my laptop i have the nvidia. You just go to their website and there is this option there that will let you search for the current one you have on your laptop. It will also give you the driver for it to update. I updated it with the new driver and bam....i got text boxes!!

  • It appears since my Windows PC McAfee AV subscription expired my PC's iTunes doesn't see my two Apple TV2's.  My computer has internet connection thru router and my ATV has internet connection thru same router.  My iPad can see the ATV but it can't see iT

My Windows PC iTunes doesn't see my two Apple TV2's (in the speaker button in lower right of iTunes), I believe this problem began when my PC's McAfee AV subscription expired.  My computer has internet connection thru router and my ATVs have internet connection thru same router so it's not a networking issue.  My iPad can see the ATVs but it can't see iTunes so the problem appears to be PC/iTunes related.  I turned the PC's firewall off but no joy.  I uninstalled the expired McAfee and still no joy.  Reboot = no joy.  Glass of scotch = no joy.  Need help!!

Wanted to add that I turned on Home Sharing w/the same account in iTunes and ATVs.  And I've successfully streamed music/photos to my ATVs for over a year.

  • HT1998 My iPAD can use the internet through my airport extreme, but the airport utility does not see it so I can't create a guest password.  What am I doing wrong?

My iPAD can use the internet through my Airport Extreme, but the Airport Utility does not see the device so I can't set a guest password.

If your Mac is using the Lion operating system with recent updates, it will be necessary to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6
Select the AirPort Extreme and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
Click the Wireless Network Options button
Remove the check mark next to Create a closed network
Click Done, then click Update to save the new settings and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart
