WRT54G v8 & WRTP54G & WRT54GC & WGA54G & Multiple Home Networks

Question

Normally, I am able to figure things out for myself but, over the past week, I have spent countless hours on my home/office network and I am at my wits end.
As you can see by the title, I am fond of Linksys! Even given all my issues, I will remain loyal....I am sure this is operator error and not hardware related.
Over a week ago, I started having network issues. Dropping signal, fluctuating signal and losing connection totally. I thought someone had reset something or the cable modem went out but, after many hours of trial and error, I believe my WRT54GC gave out on me.
I was using this travel router, or compact router as my "main network" router.The WRTP54G was connected under the house via a long ethernet cable to the WRT54GC providing me two wireless networks at home, which I do need for a variety of reasons. The ethernet cable is plugged or was plugged directly into the WAN port of the WRTP54G and however I had it set up before, worked perfectly!
Problem is, I cant recall how I ended up configuring everything! The only thing connected to the WRTP54G router 100% of the time is a slingbox which needs a Static IP of 192.168.15.237. At other times, the wife and kids plug their computers into it when playing or she is teaching them things requiring a internet connection.
The WGA54G is in my living room serving as a wireless connection for another slingbox and connects to the network that the WRT54GC provide(d) with an ip of 192.168.1.238. Now, on this one, I DO recall how I set it up..problem is now, I am having issues keeping it connected....or even getting it connected. I did have it connected yesterday for awhile but, it failed like everything else has over the last week.
Today, I decided to replace the WRT54GC with a WRT54G v8. Came home, hooked everything up the way I THOUGHT I recall setting it up and of course it did not work correctly. Wireless adapter will not connect and the ONLY way I can get the WRTP54G to work is set it up as an access point and let the WRT54G assign it an ip. In other words, I made the router a "switch" by disabling the DHCP server and giving the router a local ip of 192.168.1.250.
I am not a networking specialist but, I manage to usually figure out my mess...this time, its beyond my control and after a week, I need some fresh input.
I basically need some advice on how to set these things back up, hopefully with 2 wireless networks and get it working. I am so confused right now, I do not know what end is up.
In closing, the WRT54G will be my main router. Hooked to it are a ViaTalk adapter, my main desktop, the cable to the other router and one available port for future use.
The WRTP54G will be on a different network with a SB attached, wireless available and the other 3 ports available for the wife and kids.
The SB in the living room will connect to the WRT54G via the WGA54G and the WORLD WILL BE A BETTER PLACE! : )
This is probably childs play for a lot of you but, I assure you, I have done all I know to do and cant remember half what I have done!

hi....let me know the isp details whether cable or DSL .... also , when the wrt54gc is connected to the modem , access its web ui .. go to the "status" tab and check the "internet ip add" .. change the wireless settings , channel - either 1 or 11 , beacon interval - 50 , Fragmentation threshold - 2306 , RTS threshold - 2307 ..
if online through this router .. connect the ethernet cable from its LAN port to the WAN port of the WRTP54G .. check whether it works or not ..
