WSDL generated by web service map

Hi,
I am totally new to ODSI. I noticed that the WSDL generated by the Web Service Map for a Data Service always contains two schemas in the types section, with an import directive in the first schema which refers to the second. The structure of the types section is something like this:

<xs:import namespace="N1">
</xs:schema>
<xs:schema targetNameSpace="N1">...</xs:schema>
</types>
The question is : is it possible to have a single schema instead of two in a logical data service? In other words, to what extent can the WSDL be customized?
I apologize in advance if the question is dumb, but as I have said, I am totally new to this product.

The request and response elements will always be generated in the form below. It cannot be customized.

Unless the targetnamespace for your logical data service matches, there will always need to be a second schema element.
Your logical dataservice can have whatever schema you want.

yes, you can set ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY on BindingProvider for requestContext

Error when generating a Web Service from WSDL (Weblogic Workshop)

I have checked my ANT_HOME and its pointing to the correct location bea\tools\eclipse32\eclipse\plugins\org.apache.ant_1.6.5 and the AntMain classs is present in this path: org.apache.tools.ant.launch.AntMain

You will be greatly appreciated if you can help me on following question:
In a web service mapping file, under <java-xml-type-mapping> element, either <anonymous-type-qname> or <root-type-qname> is valid element according to schema. My question is which one should be used under which situation?

Recommended steps to generate a web service using nested complex types

I need to generate a web service that uses nested complex types with built in types on the bottom layer. I hve posted an attempt at a WSDL. Please give advice on if I am doing it correctly.
I have the suspicion that I should nest the complex types into the final complex type VendorStockingInterface. Please confirm.

I'd like the the consumer of the web service to send it a document with the fields formatted to the VendorInterface complextype which contains the other complextypes. In return the consumer will get another document with some acknowledgement messages.
To make this happen I'd like to generate the web service, creating the complex type classes and XMLBeans. I'd like advice on the steps to take once I get a good WSDL.
There is also the option to go from the other direction. Is it better to attempt to create a schema XSD document instead and use that to work towards the web service and WSDL? If so, could someone give an example of how to format an XSD using my example needs.

Include xml schema in the WSDL of the web service

Hi,
I have a bpel process where I want to call several web service, so therefore the web services should reference the same xsd schema. I use JDeveloper and Oracle PM 10.1.3.3.0.
I have a problem with including the schema in the wsdl of the web service, and I receive an error at deploying the web service.
For including the schema I tried, things like:

Generating a Web Service and Oracle DATE type

I need to generate a Web Service from an EJB model based upon entities generated from the Oracle 11g database that contain DATE types.
I realize that java.sql.Date may not be a supported JAX-RPC type but I would be VERY grateful for some instructions about the easiest way to solve this problem when generating the web service in JDeveloper 11g.

Getting complete WSDL for the web services created in J2EE

Hi,
I have created a web service using Netweaver developer studio for a J2EE project (complete EJB, WEB and Appln Project) similar to CAR rental application.
I also have tested the web service in web service perspective and it is working fine. Now i want to call this web service from XI. Therefore i need the WSDL for the same. The testing screen also gives the WSDL for the web service. But it has got number of links inside in the forms of import.
Editing all those documents and forming the complete wSDL is very difficult..
How do i do it??

Hi,
When I opened the wsdl it has number has a wsdl:import location tag..which refers to binding.
when opened this import location we have one more import location for porttypes.
When combined all thhree e.g. service, binding and porttype we get the complete WSDL which i could comofortably import in XI and further process.
This way i coudl succesfully call a web service from XI.
I used Stylus studio for editing WSDL.

Generating Ruby Web Service Access Classes from a WSDL

If you have tried to consume a web service from Ruby you surely have noticed how annoying is to write manually all the Ruby code just to invoke a service with complext input parameters' structure:
- You have to know what do the input parameters, their structure and type look like;
- You have to write Ruby classes for them to encapsulate the structures;
- You have to instantiate these classes and pass the objects to the web service proxy class;
- You have to interprete the output parameters.
All this is not impossible of course, but if you are just consumer of the web service and not the developer, if you don't have the exact documentation, you have to read the WSDL description of the service and create the Ruby classes (structures) for the parameters.
Fortunately there is a small, though handy tool, called wsdl2ruby.rb. It accomplishes all these boring tasks for you.
In the following example I will try to show you how wsdl2ruby can be used to generate Ruby classes for accessing a SAP NetWeaver web service, called CreditChecker1 (a web service for checking if a person is reliable credit consumer).
To generate the necessary classes we will create a ruby script. Let us name it ws2rgen.rb. Here is what this file looks like:

The procedure is straightforward. First we create the WSDL2Ruby object, set its properties location and basedir and then set all other options via the callback function getWsdlOpt(). For further information about these parameters one could consult the source code of wsdl2ruby or contact the developers. Nevertheless the default options are pretty satisfactory. With the last line we start the generation. Two Ruby files will be generated in the temp folder, which is a subfolder of the script's current folder. Please, create the folder "temp" before executing the script.
This generates two files. The first one is CreditChecker1Wsd.rb, containing the necessary data structures:

There is a problem with this script, since the Methods array is empty. I suppose it is due to the imports in the SAP NetWeaver WSDL, maybe wsdl2ruby is not mighty enough to handle these WSDL imports. When I succeed in overcoming this, I will post again in this thread to let everybody know.

Hi,
I find Ruby to be really tough to consume SAP WebServices. For simple scenarios like currency conversion may it is good. But for complex scenarios such as Purchase Order entry etc..I found it very annoying to use wsdl2ruby and see that it didnt generate correct proxies.
Until wsdl2ruby is stable enough to support complex datatypes, authentication etc. my recommendation is to use JRuby and use Java Proxies generated by NW Developer studio until pure Ruby's web service support improves.

No data in generated document/web service data source/complex response type

I can define a report with a template with the BI Publisher server and the Template Builder Desktop plugin. When I use an sql statement as data source the preview functionality in Word and in the browser (logged in to the server) results in a correct report, with the correct data from the data source.
When I use a web service as a data source I can still generate and preview reports but no data from the data source is visible in the reports. However this data is available in the Template Builder plugin in MS-Word.
How do I know this ? When I try to insert a field from the data source into my rtf template the plugin shows a screen with the available fields. Or actually, the screen shows all fields returned by a dummy call to the web service. When I click on a field it shows the value returned by the web service just after the test "Example". I have set up my web service such that it always returns the same response.
The field I want to show is in a repeating record, but it does not make a difference when I surround it by a group:

Neither does looping over all fields display any data:

I also found two other features when defining reports. I mention them here because they could be related to my problem. When I define two data source for my report, a web service and an sql query then only the fields from the sql query are visible in MS-Word/Template Builder. Even when the Data Model specifies the web service as "Main Data Set". And the "Default data source" is always a database even when the Data Model only defines a web service as "Data Set".

Unfortunately I can not test against a public webservice and follow the examples in the tutorials, since BI Publisher does not seem to offer any proxy configuration to connect to the internet.

How to prevent downloading wsdl in weblogic web service client

I find that this web service client always issue 2 http requests to invoke an web service method deployed in server.
1st http reqeust:

the return result is the wsdl downloaded from the server.
2nd http request is the real web service request.
The question is how could I eliminate the 1st http request because it's really unnecessary. I use other web service client like Axis 1.x, Axis client never has the http request to download the wsdl from the server.
I read through weblogic web service document. It do mentions that put saveWSDL="true" in the clientgen ant task. the default value for saveWSDL is true already. I did try saveWSDL="false" also. None of them can eliminate the 1st http request.

More or less I agree some points you mentioned above.
I did use Axis 1.x to test the inter-operability. The web service was developed in Weblogic 8.1 and is a part of an existing web application. It will be merged to existing application deployed in weblogic 8.1.
I also program the web service client to test the web service.
The implementation of the server and client will be handed over the project team and training for supporting or continuous development have to be conducted by me. So I don't like to use two types of technologies which will make thing complex.
I found this issue when I tried to protected the web service endpoint, eg http://localhost:7001/epol/service, using the web application Basic mechanism. The wsdl URL http://localhost:7001/epol/service?WSDL is also protected in this case. Unfortunately the username/password pair is not sent to the server when the weblogic client download the WSDL from the server. In this case, the client failed and throw exception.

Why do I get parsing errors with my WSDL URL for Web Services usage

I am puzzled with the errors I get when I want to create a Web Service datastore.
Scenario: I have created a SAP Web Service from CRM using SOAMANAGER. The WSDL URL produced by SOAMANAGER is accessibile when pasting the URL directly in Internet Explorer. My questions:
- Why do I get different parsing errors despite the fact that the XML is the same?
- The WSDL is generated by SOAMANAGER. Shouldn't it work directly when integrating with Web Services generated from an SAP environment?
- Is this related to confiurgation issue? I have set the Job Manager to Support adapter, message broker and SNMP communication
- What is the difference between the datastore of type Adapter and the datastore Web Service? In the white paper [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20bd5e60-11f9-2b10-2bbb-b5109cceff08?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] it is mentioned to use the Adapter type to consume a Web Service. It is not clear to me why we have those 2 types.

Some updates on this issue, which might help others in the community.
- Data Service doesn't support ws_policy.
- SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SOAMANAGER generate WDSL with ws_policy. In future releases, it is possible to specify not to use ws_policy
- In most cases, replacing ws_policy with standard in the URL directly, works. It doesn't work with Data Services :(.
- Replacing ALL ws_policy in the XML directly is currently the only way to have the WSDL definition being parsed properly by Data Services.

I am having confusion among these 3 services provided in Oracle ADF. When to use and what service needs to be used?
Once we generate Webservice WSDL. With the WSDL we have 3 options in Jdeveloper to invoke this service.
1. Java Web Service From WSDL.
2. Web Service proxy,
3. Web Service Data Control.
Can anyone give us some brief description of these 3 services when do we need to use and which service is to be used for which scenario ?

Files generated by Web Service Proxy give errors for complex input types

Hi ,
I generated a Java Web Service Proxy using a WSDL file.
The input params are of this fashion -
1) Object 1 have 3 attributes
2) Object 2 having nested Object 2 (yes , again) which has a nested attribute which needs to be passed say Param 1.
When I generate the proxy classes ... Param 1 is referred to as private Object2.Object2 param1 which gives error for the data types.
How can we resolve this .. what should be the correct data type representation for param 1 ?

How to generate a Web Service Proxy for an ESB Routing Service?

Hi,
I have a SOAP service behind an ESB Routing Service. I am aware that i can call this ESB Service at the SOAP endpoint which can be found at the ESB Console after registration.
But, i want to invoke this service using a Web Service Proxy. My understanding is that, i need to use the WSDL generated for the ESB Routing Service to generate the proxy. The WSDL which can be seen in JDeveloper does not have any soap bindings and hence the tool does not allow me to generate any proxy.
Also, the two WSDLs whose URLs can be found at the ESB Console do not have the soap endpoint properties.
Can someone help me out on the same?

Just take the SOAP endpoint and suffix it with a ?wsdl
Even the Concrete WSDL endpoint should be having a SOAP endpoint.
