X does not start yet returns no error

I've been tinkering with xorg.conf for a couple of days without success... I managed to run X on this laptop using Zenwalk and Knopppix distros with same xorg.conf options (excepted for paths) therefore I would say my xorg.conf is OK. I cannot find out what I mlss...

The upgrade to Gnome 3.6 and systemd has been very annoying.... But the benefits of systemd will outweigh our initial struggles once our bugs are fixed... Especially for those of us with multi-core processors.

J2EE does not start anymore : shell service error

Our J2EE 640 SP16 doesn't come up anymore.
Into the std.dispatcher.out we see this :
"Service security started. (5 ms).
service shell ================= ERROR =================
Cannot start service telnet; it has hard reference to service shell which is not started.
Service jmx started. (765 ms).
Timed out services:
Service p4 > service p4 start method invoked.
Service tc.monitoring.logviewer > hard reference to service p4.

The all the futher services are not started.
Into teh std.server.out we see al lot of services in timeout.
At the end both the Dispatcher o the serve doesn come up.
What's the reason ?

OPEN_FORM does not work or return an error

I am using OPEN_FORM, but the form does not open and I do not get any error messages. I spit out a debug message immediately before and after the OPEN_FORM, and I get both of them. I tested for form_success before the second debug message, and that comes back true. I also place a debug message in the pre-form trigger of the form I am trying to open, and it does not appear, so I don't think the error is in the second form. Any ideas? If I could at least find out the error.

IPhoto does not start but gives an error message

As soon as I start the iPhoto this messages shows up:
I actually do not know what I did wrong previously with iPhoto. Any help appreciated

Sorry, that the error message did not show up. I copied the error message from a screenshot (cmd-shift-4) into my post but now only a question mark can be seen. Sorry.
I am now at a different computer. But the error message said that the iTunes Library is locked or on a locked drive and at hitting the ok button the error message and iTunes closes.
I checked already the harddrive (get info window) regarding that there is a permission missing. But that was ok. The user was allowed to read and write.
I checked the iPhoto Library (get info window) trying to find there a missing permission but everything was ok.
I really do not know that cause.

Com.apple.wikid does not start. Generates 4000 error lines per 10 minutes

As of recently, without an up to now identifiable reason, wikid is failing to start. In system.log I see thousands of loglines per every few minutes, but I can't find what the real cause of the issue is or how to solve it. Does anybody have any idea?

Curious thing is that in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.wikid.plist I see:

Which I interpret as 'wikid is disabled', but then how come it's trying to start....

Hey Everyone - a quick update. A very helpful friend gave me a hand figuring this out turns out the wikid process was failing because of a blog plist file. Replacing the metadata.plist files for all the users (whom had blogs in the collab data store) along with all the metadata.plist files for the groups as well got the service back up and running. When I say replace, I mean we renamed them all metadataplist.old and the system rebuilt the files and then loaded up without crashing.
I'll try and better document this whole issue (with more research into the cause) and update this for anyone facing this in the future.

ITunes10 does not start from Data-Disk(error 13001)!

After moving my user folder to an external disk I get the message "Could not open Application "iTunes". Unknown error 13001. Reinstalling iTunes did not help, neither did an alias of the iTunes-folder in the equivalent folder on my System-disk.
Any help appreciated!

Found the solution myself. I had a " in the name of the external drive. After removing it all worked fine.

Photoshop cc 64 bits does not start anymore

Since yesterday my photoshop CC 64 bits does not start aymore with an error message like "the internal file signature is incorrect." (it is a translation I use the French version).
My photoshop cc 32 bits works still fine.
I have the version 14.1.1 of Photoshop that has been installed a few days ago automatically by Adobe Updater.
Since that day I had not used Photoshop so I guess it is this update that has corrupted something.
I am a new user of photoshop on a fresh new Windows 8 PC and I have not yet installed any additional plugin to it.

That sounds like the installation has been corrupted on disk.
Uninstalling the app, reinstalling, and re-updating is your best bet.

WebAnalysis does not start after workspace is set on Windows Authentication

I've used [doc Hyperion System 9.3.x Configuring the BI+ Workspace for Single Sign-On (SSO) with Internet Information Services (IIS) [ID 1100096.1] to configure SSO for workspace users. It works fine. Though since then the WA service does not start anymore. The error message which is raised sounds very very familar but still I am not able to tackle it. The message in the log or the analysis console is "[WARN] [STANDBY] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - Wait for workspace [

I am very sure it had something to do with rights/ permissions, but also after playing around with IIS and ntfs permissions for hours I can't get SSO en WA both working at the same time.
As soon as I set my workspace aplication in IIS on windows integrated, the SSO is working but as soon as a I restart the WA service it fails to start. When I set the workspace application IIS on anonymous the WA service start fine but then the SSO is not working anymore.
It drives me crazy.

Dont know exactly whats happened but I presume something went wrong during the update procedure.
If you will be not able to start the notebook in the safe mode or to boot the notebook then user the Toshiba recovery CD to gets the notebook working!

SQL Developer 1.1.3 does not start from NT

We were previously running 1.1(2514) and have just started rolling out 1.1.3 (2766) and have found that the latest version does not start under NT. Error shell32.dll error.
Is there a fix / workaround as this will stop our rollout of this version, which has some interesting BUG fixes ?

I thought so too, but just a couple of months ago Brian added another bug for NT in Re: Sqldeveloper failed to start after latest 1.1.2 Patch .
Doing the search I also came across Sue's more official response in Support for Windows NT? . However that post was over a year old...

Firefox does not start at all, cpu usage is 100%

I have tried installing different versions of Firefox, but all of them have the same issue - the browser does not start at all, no error messages, cpu usage is 100% in task manager, so have to shut it down there.

I got the same fault ("response does not start with HTTP it starts with: ICY") when I tried to open an HttpConnection as bellow:

"Layer 1 does not start with a new cell" replicator error

Hi All,
I recently sent a dual layer +R DVD off to our replication house and their system is returning a message that says: "Layer 1 of DVD-Video does not start with a new cell".
I know from reading that the dual-layer breakpoint must be set to the end of a cell, but what does the word "cell" translate into for DVDSP4?
I had the DVD DL+R set to Automatic and Non-Seamless for output for the break point. Should I just try setting the break point manually at the beginning or ending of a track that would be dubbed as just a little more than half the size of the content? (I know in OTP, the Layer 0 has to be bigger than Layer 1)

Eric, I am currently exporting DDPs to send in to the replicator. I also emailed them asking if they accept this format for delivery. (Which I would hope they would, as it is, an answer to DLT of sorts) Thanks for bringing this up, DDP is new to me, as this is our first DL project for replication.
Drew, to answer your reply, yes I have two viable markers (chapter markers) that show up in black, not grayed out, in the tab you mentioned under formatting. I chose manual break point selection for this last disc I burned and chose chapter 4 of that track. (chapter 4 and chapter 5 of track 6 are only options) I have to assume that the "automatic" setting was selecting chapter 5, as it had to see that as the last viable marker available to select, as described in the DVDSP4 manual.
DVDSP4 says that all markers are considered cells- Or actually that tracks are cells and that the markers within them make up more cells. So my question, outside of DDP option, would be, "what truly constitutes a cell boundary in DVDSP4?" Is it the markers within the tracks or the beginning or ends of the tracks themselves?
As a side note, I burned the disc that received the error, "Layer 1 doesn't start with a new cell" from an IMG i created from DVDSP4 through Disk Utility. Word is that IMG's somehow don't include breakpoint information.
So at this point I don't know if it is the IMG or the fact that DVDSP4 wants the break at one of two possible chapter markers in track 6.
(Some more background- this is a TV show season DVD, with thirteen tracks of video, each with 12-14 chapter markers a piece.)
Any more thoughts to help clear the air on what constitutes a true new cell boundary?

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I think that your Mac detects your hard disk, but the problem is that your new hard disk doesn't contain any operating system, so your Mac doesn't find any bootable partition and you see a question mark.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, just install Mac OS X. If the hard disk isn't prepared to install Mac OS X, you will have to erase it using "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html
