X11 ERROR: Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server

Hi all,
I've problem with X11 on os x 10.6.2.
Every time I move my macbook pro from office to home (and viceversa)
X11 needs to be quit and restarted otherwise I get the following
error:
Xlib: connection to ".0" refused by server
and X11 won't launch windows. Now this error is certainly linked
to the fact that the computer changes IP address.
What's the best way to solve the problem ?
below you find the first lines of my .xinitrc
thanks
marco

Are you setting DISPLAY somewhere? You should not be. The system sets DISPLAY, and X11 will not work if you change the system-set value.

I am trying to install Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1 in RHEL 5, i believe all pre installation task has been completed perfectly. In my experience, the most common problem is that the user originally logs in as root on the machine, and then attempts to run the installer using 'su - oracle' or 'su oracle'.
(Only newbies and people who do not plan on being in a production environment will learn the habit of logging in as root anyway. There is NO production environment that I have encountered that will let people, even System Administrators, use root on a regular basis without explicit justification.)
The simplest solution is usually to log out - all the way out - and then log in as Oracle. Then try the runInstaller again and post the results.

  • Xlib:  connection to ":2.0" refused by server

    Hi,
I'm new to Oracle and am attempting to install database 10g version 2 on RHEL4 xLinux system and need help in getting past an installation error.
When running ./runInstaller, it passes installer requirements, but gets an error stating:
Xlib: connection to ":2.0" refused by server
    Xlib: No protocol specified
This is immediately followed by java error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using ':2.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.

    A few pointers:
    1) Do not log on to Linux as root. Make sure the graphical screen is owned by oracle
    2) If necessary, set your permissions to wide-open by using xhost + ... do not leave in this mode for long if you are concerned about security
    3) Set the DISPLAY variable, usually to DISPLAY=:0.0 or DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
This is a common error. Internet search will provide good answers

  • Dbca xlib connection to "0.0" refused by server errror

i am using oracle enterprise linux 5.4 in virtual machine and i am trying to create a new database using the DBCA
    but when i do this
    an error is returned
XLib: connection to "0.0" refused b server
    XLib: no protocol specified
    exception in thread main
    how to rectify it??

This is often an indication of doing things in the wrong order.
Step 1: Log on to the computer that has an XWindows screen
Step 2: Tell that screen to accept remote requests by issuing "xhost +"
Step 3: Log on to the computer / user that is to use the XWindows
Step 4: Tell that to display on the computer that is to be used for display using export DISPLAY=(host):display.screen
Step 5: Run the program that needs a display
Many people log in to root on the computer and then su to oracle to do the installs. While this is fundamentally a stupid thing to do, because using root unnecessarily increases potential security risks and is it NOT good practice and will it NOT be allowed in any self-respecting business, the following would be the sequence
    1) Log on to XWindows as root
    2) Open a terminal
    3) enter 'xhost +'
    4) enter 'su - oracle'
    5) enter 'export DISPLAY=:0.0'
    6) runInstaller (or use whatever installer is required)
The most common mistake is running xhost after su. This will not work. The xhost must be issued by the first user - the one that owns the screen.

  • JCO Proxy Error while connecting xMII into SAP R/3 Server

    Hi All
When we try connect out SAP xMII server to the SAP R/3 Server using JCo (JCO Interface), we are getting an error
"Fatal Error: JCOProxy Error:Name or Password is incorrect, please re-enter"
We have checked the userID and password for logging into the SAP R/3 System and it is all correct and we are also able to login with the same userID/password using SAPGui. All the other details like SAP Server, Client Instance is all correct.
appreciate if someone can help resolving this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Biju Kumar

    Hi Biju,
I have also experienced this error. We are using xMII 12.0.1 with SAP R/3 4.6B. Please make sure that your password is in lowercase without special characters. Also check the xMII-logs if there is some more information about the error.
If nothing helps, delete the SAP server entry in Data Services and re-enter it. Maybe this makes it work. I found that either the password was different or the new entry helped.

  • Syclo : Error in connecting Work Manager Client with Agentry Server

    Hi,
Can somebody please shed some light on work manager client-server connections? I have downloaded the "SAP_WORK_MANAGER_BY_SYCLO_5.2" package from market place and set up the Work Manager server. It can successfully connect to the SAP back-end. Environment variables are correctly set too. However, I'm failing to connect to the Work Manager server from the Work Manager clients. I have tried from the Win32 & Android clients both.
For Win32 client, the error I'm getting is:
For Android, I can't even see the server instance, although it's running (it shows up while attempting to connect from Win32). Error:
When I attempt to connect from Work Manager client to the server, it asks for username/password and for Android client it asks for Agentry user id and password. Aren't these username/password of the server where my Work Manager (Agentry) server is installed?
Also, the "Agentry Development Server" which has been set to run as a service runs with Administrative privileges.
    I followed this: http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPMOB/Agentry+error+Client+Receiving+RFC+ERROR+LOGON+FAILURE+incomplete+logon+Data+when+connecting+to+server
It didn't help. Please let me know where I'm going wrong?

I haven't yet installed ATE and tested out any application. I just want my connections to be perfect, first.
I have a question. Are the credentials used to connect Work Manager client to the server, same as the SAP backend credentials or are they the credentials of the host on which the Work Manager server is installed?
I have tried logging in using the SAP credentials also. But that results in error too.
These credentials are valid for SAP backend and successfully logs onto it and also responds correctly to connectTest.bat. However, I think this error is logical because these are the credentials for SAP backend and not the server where Work Manager server is hosted.

  • Getting error in connecting ios simulator with SMP3.0 server

    Hi,
We have configure ODATA service on SMP3.0 server  document provided by SAP of "How to configure Application using Security Profile". We are using the SAP Netweaver Gateway DemoSystem for calling the ODATA services-HTTPS (got access of it using http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-31221).We also use Server Certificate to get successfully ping to backend steps performed to import the OData Service URL certificate into smp_keystore.(by using  Getting Started with Kapsel - Part 1).
Now we are trying to build Native app on ios platform using pdf provided in IOS Development study material with the exercise material provided by SAP to call the app deployed on SMP3.0 server. But we are getting an

Can anyone please help me out in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,

    Hi Brenton,
As I have performed the steps for server certificate exchange with SAP Netweaver Gateway DemoSystem which provides me with Sample OData Service (HTTPS) it does not include any need to use"Allow Anonymous Connection" option even without using that I am able to successfully ping the backend server as shown below..
Know my requirement is to make Native app and get  my ios device/simulator to connected to SMP server 3.0.
So I am referring the link Getting Started with Kapsel - Part 8 -- AuthProxy which specifies a need to generate client certificate(which will help in authentication betn the client and server when using HTTPS).
Here also have successfully exchange the client and server certificate but when theirs need to generate the .csr I am getting the following error:-
Error:-keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Alias <sapserverca> has no key
Have stuck here badly and not able to find out solution I think their might be some step missing in this document or some thing which we are not doing correctly.
    Can u please help me
-With some material which involves steps to generate the CSR
-Some link which will help in configuring OData Service(HTTPS) in SMP3.0
Any of your guidance regarding this will be helpful to us.Will be waiting for your reply.

Yes this look like a bug as old as 10.4 .
Keep in mind that X11 wasn't made for mobile users .
What's the best way to solve the problem ?
below you find the first lines of my .xinitrc
I havn't been able to find a definite fix to this problem.
Nonetheless I have a workaround which avoid me to have
to restart my X11 twice a day. I'm a mobile user, I use
many different network locations, and I use X11 full time too.
I created an isolated location named "- isolated" so as to
keep it on top of my Location menu. This location is simply
built by removing all the services "Ethernet", "AirPort"…
Then, when I leave my home, I always switch to my "- isolated" Location.
When I arrive at my office or within a meeting, I switch to the correct
    Location.
I can proceed with my work in progress within X11 applications.
And I can open new X11 applications without any trouble.
When I leave my office I also swith to my "- isolated" location.
If you find any better workaround, please post it.
