Hello everyone, i have a problem with windows 7 home premium and my x205-sli5 laptop. when i bought the laptop it had windows vista installed and the lowest subscore was 5.1 (the processor) and when i FORMATED the HDD and installed windows 7 home premium the processor rating went down to a 3.5... as well as my ram (3 GB) ... went down to 3.7 .... can someone explain to me how is this possible ? Did i do something wrong by formatting the laptop ?? I dont think it's normal for a T8300 @ 2.4 core 2 duo to get a 3.5 rating, can someone please help. Thanks in advance..

Did you instal ALL of the drivers for it? The T3400 in my L305-S5933 scores better than that under WIndows 7.

Hey back again with a new one, not sure if anyone has done it, and not really sure if a great amount of the 64bit drivers for this machine will be out there, since I was already able to get 32bit Windows 7 on here, I'm off for another go to try to get the 64bit version. I'm gonna look at the .uk site cause they usually have alot of drivers that arent on the american site, just giving this a shot, I have the serial and all that great stuff, so I figured its worth the try since I wont ever use it on another machine. I was going to install a 64bit operating system anyways just to see if I could see any difference in performance, I guess this is worth a shot, I'll probably be posting back in here that I'm missing a ton of drivers and that it wont work, but if I cant find them on either website, I'm gonna have to dig deeper and probably get them all manually straight from their manufacturers and hope there are 64bit drivers. Anyways, wish me luck!

Hey guys...downloaded and installed Windows 7 64bit, but in System it says its 32bit, not sure why, it should register as 64bit, this kind of sucks, I'm not really sure what to do or if there is a way to patch 32bit to 64bit yet....so...kinda left out of the loop now

X205-SLI5 Fan Control?

I've had my X205 SLI5 for quite a while, I'm sure its dusty and I'm going to end up cleaning it out, I'm hoping that opening up the laptop wont void my warranty though. I've tried a few different tools to try to control the fans, none work, I'm wondering if there is any way anyone knows of to control the fans on my X205, I've read a few different posts in several forums but its mostly responses from people relating to the overheating issue. However I was wondering if a moderator or anyone with any experience with this issue or tools related to this issues could help out. I have the latest Bios update and it runs the fans slightly fast, but clearly not fast enough to keep the computer cool enough. I can get this thing running over 200 Degrees F, easily, thats the heat for the GPU's, they are usually within about 5 degrees of eachother, its frustrating, the CPU isnt so bad cause it runs at about 160 Degrees F, still hot, but at least not over 200. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or anything like that, tools would be great too for manual fan speed adjustments. I dont have anything obstructing the fan vents, I usually have my laptop elevated from the center even though its slightly uncomfortable, it will lower the temperatures of the GPU's by up to 20 Degrees F. If you have any suggestions for anything besides cleaning it out, please let me know.

Delete files using Disk Cleanup
I checked several times but could not find anything on my C drive.
Maybe shadow storage is getting out of hand. Notice that Disk Cleanup gives you the opportunity to delete all but the most recent restore points.
You can control shadow storage using the commands here at an elevated command prompt (cmd.exe).
Vssadmin
Notice that you can set the maximum with Vssadmin resize shadowstorage.
If you learn more about the problem, please let us know. It's the first time I've heard a story like this.

I upgraded to windows 7 from Vista and now only 2 of my speakers are working.
I installed that latest Realtek drivers and still I'm having the same issue.

Hi,
I have the following set up:
* Lenovo T-61p
* Windows XP Pro, SP 3
* HP Photosmart 8250 printer (with nothing plugged into the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer)
I am getting the following error:
Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x75CE023C
0x84C40C84 0x75CE023C
I have done a lof experimenting and thru process of elimination, and believe I have determined that this only happens when the HP Photosmart 8250 printer is plugged in to the USB slot of the computer.
I can stop it from happening by safely removing hardware, and removing the drive that the 8250 creates on your computer when you plug it in. In my case, this is drive E. I'm guessing if there was something in the the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer, that's what those would be, but I don't those use those functions of the printer.
I understand there is more at work than simply the printer, because I did not used to get this error, so some software changed as well, that is scanning all ports, and finding a drive that has no disk, and producing the error.
A simple google search finds a lot people all over the world having this problem, and are solving it in different ways, because the suspected source is different: Norton, HP, etc.
I have tried everything I have read, and the only thing that works was my own idea, of manually safely removing the drive the printer creates each time I plug in the printer.
Anyone every any better, more permanent solutions? Or know what the real root of the problem is? What is scanning all the drives and being showing an error message because it found an empty drive?

I've been getting the same error on my 4G nano for the past week. I've had my nano for about a month and the first few weeks were fine. Tried it on 2 different computers (Vista and XP) and same problem. Tried it on a 3rd (XP) and it started ok. Problem started coming back after a day.
I was able to find a quick fix though. I noticed that sometimes the message says something like "iexplore.exe... no disk..." even if I don't even use IE. What I do is end iexplore.exe on task manager before running iTunes and syncing my nano. I don't get the error whenever I do this, but one drawback is that the contents of my nano suddenly pops up in a window - even when disk use is not enabled.
I've reset/restored my nano dozens and dozens of times to make sure it's clean. Leads me to believe it's a driver issue. Either that or I have a friggin malware problem I can't seem to find.
I'll be posting updates every now and then. I'm no expert so I'm hoping an Apple expert also steps in to give some input.

There is no plus sign and going into optins and changing settings has not worked. I have uninstall FF and reinstall-keeping my personalization-and that was no help.
Right clicking on FF Icon to open a new tab, or going up to FF drop down tab and clicking on new tab both do not work.

Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually,and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
