Can't hibernate after reinstall
I had to reinstall Arch on my Dell Inspirion 1525 a week back because I hosed the system :(
After the reinstall I can suspend and resume but can't resume after a hibernate. I didnt have any issues before the reinstall when I used init. I already added update my grub config and added the resume hook and ran " mkinitcpio -p linux"

I dont see a resume log at all. Do I need to do anything else to get this to work ?WonderWoofy wrote:
Is there a reason you are using pm-utils? What happens when you use systemd's hibernation?
BTW, I don't think pm-utils is active anymore, and the powersave and other scripts are a bit outdated and typically unnecessary.
I get the same result when I type systemctl hibernate. It hibernates as expected and then doesnt resume. Instead i get fsck of allthe drives because the system wasnt shut down properly -
[SOLVED] Can't hibernate with xfce as normal user
Until recently, I can't hibernate using xfce menu as normal user. All other operations such as poweroff, reboot, logout... works.
When I tried systemctl:
> systemctl hibernate
Failed to issue method call: Operation not supported
Failed to issue method call: Access denied
"sudo systemctl hibernate" works
All other operations also works for normal user (without sudo).
When I checked CanHibernate:
>sudo dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.CanHibernate
method return sender=:1.0 -> dest=:1.56 reply_serial=2
string "na"
Which is totally not true since I could hibernate as root.
CanReboot, CanShutdown... returns "true".
As expected, this doesn't work:
> dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Hibernate boolean:true
Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Operation not supported
And of course, all other operations work, which is confusing.

xfce4-power-manager 1.2.0-5

Hey,
I experienced the same problem after todays update and after I downgraded systemd and systemd-sysvcompat to 207-5 it's working again.
I still have to figure out what changed, but it's a temporary fix. Hope it helps.
Thanks. Downgrading seems to fix it.
root wrote:As far as I see you are using polkit with XFCE, are you aware that recent updates (03/09 in my pacman log) established that polkit would not autostart anymore but in GNOME Flashback?
You might want to make sure polkit is running (not only installed) and consider switching to lxpolkit which is suggested as a lightweight alternative which will start automatically with DEs such as XFCE.
It is running. Thanks for the suggestion about lxpolkit. I'll check it out. -
With Firefox 5 and Panorama(Tab Groups), can I hibernate tab groups?
I use the add-on TabGroups Manager and I like to hibernate tab groups to save memory. When a tab group is hibernated, I can bring it back even after I close Firefox and shutdown my computer. With the new Panorama(Tab Groups), is it also possible to hibernate tab groups so I can open them later?
The other name of the "hibernation" functionality is "unload tab". It used to be implemented by [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bartab BarTab extension] that worked for Firefox-3.6. People report that beta works for FF4&5.

Can't Hibernate - FUJITSU MHZ2250BH G1
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum, so sorry if I break any protocol violations. Recently removed Pointsec from my Lenovo X200 and now I can't hibernate. I get an error message saying" The device driver for the 'FUJITSU MHZ2250BH G1" device is preventing the machine from hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver."
I have closed all applications, and it still doesn't work. I can't find a driver update anywhere on the web. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks. You can update the hard drive firmware.
Kindly download the Hard drive firmware update utility (Bootable CD ISO) - ThinkPad

Resume after suspend suspends again
Hi,
for the last two weeks I've been experiencing some weird ACPI behaviour. When I resume after suspending with pm-suspend my system immediately suspends again. Shortly before suspending again the screen blanks and shows a line like this
[ 98.602112] ACPI: Unable to dock!
After it suspended again, the system can be resumed normally.
The system is a X230 with a full disk encryption. The suspend is done by calling pm-suspend with acpid. For further power management I use laptop-mode-tools, but the problem persists even after disabling it. Furthermore the problem can be reproduced on battery as well as AC.
I tried looking around, but have only found people having similar problems on hibernate and never any satisfying solutions. Has anyone ever experienced this problem and found a solution?

Windows 7 64 bit won't resume after being locked
Hello,
My Windows 7 Pro computer will not resume after being locked.
I use a Domain controller based on Windows server 2008 R2, and if I login with my username on any other PC, I do not have this Problem.
When I lock it to go out for some reason, it won't resume at all. I left it on the welcome screen for an hour or so, and it didn't start.
Do you guys have any idea what might be causing this ?
Thank you very much for your helpIf this behavior is not exhibited on any other systems in your environment, I believe it's safe to assume the issue is with the local client.
First things first: check that you have the latest drivers for your system. I know this seems like a canned answer, but I've seen hundreds of cases where a missing or legacy disk controller driver causes all manner of strange behavior on an otherwise healthy
system.
Years ago, when SSDs first starting becoming popular, I purchased a handful of them from a specific vendor. We started seeing issues with resuming from S3 sleep that confounded us for months. We found out that the vendor used a specific brand and chipset
on their SSD controllers that wound up causing firmware faults when Windows was resumed; even to the point that we had to shut down the PC, unplug it, and let the caps drain before we could boot it again!
We wound up replacing the drives with a more mainstream/popular brand and the issues never happened again, but the problem was hardware related. Your post reminded me of those few months of confusion.
Check that all of your drivers are up to date, esp. disk and video, and don't rely on the Microsoft generic drivers. If you can find the drivers for your mobo/gfx cards, prefer that route. -
Canon 60D does not resume after auto power off
My Canon 60D does not resume after auto power off. It shows the empty battery icon when I press the shutter button, even the battey is fully charged. If I remove the battery and insert back it will resume to work. Any one had the same experience and know how to resolve it?
The power switch is actually a "software" switch. It's not like a light switch in that it doesn't actually provide or deprive the camera of power... only removing the battery will deprive the camera of power. This is why it doesn't actually just go dark when you switch off power... instead you'll usually see it perform a sensor clean cycle and then power down. The camera is technically in a kind of "sleep" mode monitoring the switch. If a Canon camera ever seems to lock up and ignore all input, the battery should be temporarily removed to "reboot" the camera. There is no "setting" in a camera that can configure it to ignore buttons. Although... if the camera is in an automatic mode, some input is deliberately ignored to make it easier to use the camera. Put the mode dial in a "creative zone" mode (P, Tv, Av, or M) and all buttons and menus should be accessible. You might try connecting the camera via USB cable to your computer and then attempt to control the camera via the Canon EOS Utility to see if that works. If the camera responds fine to the computer control, then likely the camera's main board and circuits are working fine and it may just be a wiring problem -- as if some cable simply isn't getting a very solid connection. If this is a wiring issue, you are probably better off sending it in for service.

Resume after suspend / upgrades
Hi all, I've been using arch for about half a year and I'm very satisfied with it. There is, however, one thing that I can't change/find in arch, that is "after which event my laptop resumes after suspend". Suspend (s2ram or default scripts, that were in the system) / resume work fine, but after every (almost every) kernel upgrade somehow "resume event trigger" changes. It becomes or "resume after lid is open" or "resume after lid is open _and_ any key is pressed". I want it to resume just after lid is open without pressing key, but I can't find where I can set it. Could someone help me, please? Thanks.
Sorry for my English, it's my third language.

Slideshow not resuming after certain buttons are used?
Hello,
I have this slideshow that I'm so close to having completed, but there's one issue I'm having with it not resuming after certain buttons are used. I've tried to figure out what could be causing this but I just can't see what it could be. I feel I'm so very close to having this completed if it weren't for this one issue.
In the slideshow buttons '1' and '2' work perfectly, however buttons '3' to '6' are not working completely as they should. During the slideshow, as it plays through the slides if you click on button '1' or '2' you are taken to the corresponding slide and then the slideshow automatically resumes, which is correct. However, if you click on any of buttons '3' to '6' you are still taken to the corresponding slide, but the slideshow does not resume and stays on that particular slide. I've looked over the Action Script 3 code several times and I just don't see what could be causing this but I'm not too experienced so there could be some error, no matter how minor, that I am missing.
I've attached the file and if anyone has any advice at all or can help in any way I would REALLY appreciate it!
Thank you,
WilliamIn looking at the post I just made just now, I notice my attachment didn't come through. I'm not sure why this happened, but here is the code I'm using for the buttons:

Your system software is way out of date which is why Safari is crashing.
Click the Apple menu icon top left corner of your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
That should bring your Mac OS X from v10.6.4 to v10.6.8 an Safari from 5.0.2 to 5.1.7 -
Not working imessage!! Credit card and I can not send imessage than after apple id. There are problems with Apple seeverele?? Thanks!
Before the service reset function. Wait 24 hours to activate imessage.go to the settings and turn off imessage
but that don't change the issue that you will never be able to facetime eachtoher
the appleID is really meant as the handle that identify you it was not meant to be shared
but can see that people may want to do not buy apps more then once -
I reset and erased my iphone 4 and now I can`t reinstall it! After I choose a language, region. and wifi, it says Please, try again later or contact customer care. I tried to do with iTunes, and iTunes even sees this iphone, but it`s like blank, there is nothing I can do in iTunes. It uploaded last software for this iPhone 4, but when it tries to do the reserve copy of iphone first, it shows a mistake. And ask to disconnect and connect the device again, which, obviously, doesn`t help.
This usually happens if the phone has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...
Is this the case...?
If so...
Then... Sorry... But...

I can't update my apps after upgrade to iOS 6...?
I can't update my apps after upgrade to iOS 6
Are you sure you have a proper Internet connection? Make sure your iPod is connected to your computer, and you have an Internet connection.
Don't even get me started on the iPod Touch 5G, I actually own an iPod Touch 4G, and I've considered a lot about if I should get the new one. At first look, you might be sold by the features Apple has on their iPod Touch page. It has a taller screen that's a 4-inch Retina Display, has a much better camera with a flash, and comes with iOS 6 preinstalled with Siri. But the real breakthrough comes with the new connector. It's called Lighting, and it's much smaller. But if you have a dock connector that comes with some cars, and maybe a set of speakers or docking stations as alarm clocks, I encourage you not to get the new one. The usage of your old connectors requires a $30 adapter, which is a ridiculous price. And who knows how secure the adapters will be with your docking stations? I personally think Apple has crossed the line. If they are to put a new connector with their new products, they should ship with an adapter in the box, at least at first. This is why I strongly encourage you NOT to get the new 5th generation iPod Touch.
Sorry if I went a little off-topic there, but I wanted to get my point across. For your updating to iOS 6, I reccommend you check out other discussions in the support comunity, and see what other contributors have to say. Or go on Google and search your error messages, possibly someone might've already went through the same problem as you did. I really hope this helped!
