X60 Tablet Monitor Rotation detection in Win 7
When my Tablet came pre-installed with Windows XP Tablet Edition the machine would detect rotation of the machine and interpret it into rotations of the display. I have re-enabled Think Vantage Access Protection, Tablet Buttons, and several other features key to this aspect of the notebook howeve I still cannot get the monitor to rotate with the rotation of the machine. Any help is welcome

I just talked to Wacom Tech support.
Using an Intuos 4, and Windows 7, I was having some problems with CS5.
He told me that the drivers weren't completely installed.
Here's what he told me to do.
Open the Start Menu
Open the Control Panel
If in category view, click Hardware and Sound
Under "Devices and Printers", click Device Manager
After opening the Device Manager, go down to "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" and click the drop-down arrow
If you see two "HID-Compliant Mouse" categories, click on both of them, and find the one that says "Wacom Virtual HD Driver" under 'Location'.
Once you have found the correct device, click on the Driver tab, and click the Update Driver button
Click on Browse My Computer for Driver Software
Click Browse -> Computer -> Program Files -> Tablet // OR type in the box " C:\Program Files\Tablet " and make sure you have the "Include subfolders" option checked.
Click Next
And it should update itself.
I hope this clears things up. If not, try calling the Wacom Tech Support.

This works like a charm. solved my problem. win7 64bit, cs5.
I don't like the idea installing and reinstalling and wait for ... wacom.
Remember that we tend to plug in the tablet first, MS driver comes in and play, then we install wacom driver, it won't replace MS driver completely.
This is what I did:
1. Go to Device Manager.
2. There are 2 HID-compliant mouses (exactly the same Properties, Provider: Microsoft ... in both, no Wacom Virtual HD Driver) and 1 Wacom Mouse Monitor.
3. I chose the second HID-compliant mouse, point to Browse -> Computer -> Program Files -> Tablet, exactly as toxic did --> driver is updated, provider: Wacom, it becomes "Wacom mouse".
4. Switch back to Photoshop, it WORKS.
note: no need to restart/log out&in the computer, nor restart Photoshop.

[SOLVED] ACPI handler.sh no longer working (Thinkpad X60 Tablet)
Hello there,
I recently did a few updates on my system to reduce power usage and get hdaps working. For some reason one of these changes must have broken ACPID in some way so that what I wrote in handler.sh no longer has any effect when I e.g. press the configured buttons to lock my screen or shut down, but I have no clue which.
I'm not really familiar with where ACPI and ACPID keeps all their logs either, and which parts in there might mean something for me. I don't even know how I can check if ACPI is running properly and just ACPID isn't, for instance (both are running thought, confirmed with ps -A).
Here's what I can remember of what I did:
-full system update
-install cpufreq to redcude power usage with acpi_cpufreq
-install HDAPS with Thinkpad driver, as described on the Wiki
-tweak my laptop-mode settings, e.g. disable VGA output when in laptop mode
-enable AHCI for my hard drive in kernel image and BIOS
Would be great if you could help me troubleshoot this somehow, as I really don't have a clue on how to fix this. Here's some output that might be helpful for starters:

X60 Tablet users: Windows 8 upgrade experiences?
I have an X60 Tablet (6363-5BU) with Windows XP Tablet Edition SP3. 2GB of RAM and 250 GB HDD. I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 8. There are plenty of anecdotes about Win 7 upgrades but not many Win 8 upgrades. It would be nice to find out what issues, pitfalls and workarounds have been discovered and gathering them all here on this thread...
T60 Tablet; T60 Widescreen; T60; T40; 701C; 3 x Apple Newton MP2100; 2 x HP 200LXWorks great
It all worked perfectly right after install.
Im trying to get the buttons for quick screen change to work as they are unrespsonsive but to be honest I never used them much before. So they're not quiet the priority.
It is considerable faste rthan windows 7, I'm sure you will love it.

Monitor not detecting connection after installing TI4200 8X
Attempting install of GForce4 TI4200-VTD8X (MS-8894). Searched through the manual and says it can support 4x agp but when I put it in the computer the monitor cannot detect a connection to computer but behind the message saying so I can make out activity while my computer boots up...the stages of the boot process are noticeable but are moving rapidly from left to right and fast enough to be not able to see. But the main factor is that it says it cant see the computer but there is residual display behind the message saying so. Since I cannot boot the computer to install drivers it must be something else perhaps in the Bios but ive verified its set to 4X AGP (which is max) especially since I was using AGP beforehand. Perhaps there is another setting I might be missing in the Bios?
ASUS A7V 133 4X AGP
768MB Ram
400 watt powersupply
KDS monitor "19"
Ah yes currect video card being used is a GForce 2 MX also agpCannot even see to boot to safe mode. Only thing that can be seen on the screen is the "cable plugged in?" and behind it the chaos indicating at least some activity. No readable text. Just the changes in the boot process are noticeable from the changes in the "chaos" color behind it. Text is there but its skewed severely and flys from left to right too fast to read. Swapped in prior card and works fine and while there lowered resolution to 640X480. Although the resolution shouldnt matter since the boot process and mem check all have the same behavior.

Docked X60 - Dual Monitor question
Hi All !
I have an X60 docked on an X6 Ultrabase...I'd like to run a couple of HP 1740 TFT monitors off the laptop (without the integrated screen operational) in the usual FN + F7 fashion.
I thought I might be able to use one of these to split the output and run up both monitors in parallel ? Will this work and detect the dual monitor real estate or do i have no choice but to go with one of these
Hope you have some advice ?
Cheers

I just got a Samsung SyncMaster 2033 SW Plus monitor and tried connecting through the DVI port of my MacBook Pro, but its not getting detected. I'm using the mini display port to DVI adapter to connect. The monitor seems to work perfectly when I connected to the VGA port of my PC, but its not even been detected on the mac. I checked system profiler and it says no external monitor connected. Please help!!
I have a similar problem with my new MBP. I have tried to connect it to my ViewSonic VP920b via the Mini DisplayPort to DVI, but get no video on the external monitor. The system profile shows it as connected, and if I turn mirroring on/off, my MBP monitor changes resolution to mirror (or not) the external, but there's no picture, just black screen.
I've tried
•closing the lid, connecting the external Mini DisplayPort, then waking without opening the lid,
•changing the energy saver preferences to each of the 2 graphics card (Graphics Card: better battery life/better performance),
•changing the external monitor resolution through all the possibilities,
•restart with the external monitor connected
•restart without the external monitor, then connect.
Current settings:
VIDIA GeForce 9400M:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Type: GPU
Bus: PCI
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0863
Revision ID: 0x00b1
ROM Revision: 3448
gMux Version: 1.8.8
Displays:
Color LCD:
Resolution: 1440 x 900
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Mirror: On
Mirror Status: Hardware Mirror
Online: Yes
Built-In: Yes
VP920 Series:
Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: On
Mirror Status: Master Mirror
Online: Yes
Rotation: Supported
Since the System Profile software can contact the monitor, and since the MBP screen changes in response to connecting or disconnecting the external monitor, I believe it's safe to assume there is no problem with the DVI cable or the MiniPort Display dongle. I just have no video displayed on the external monitor
Any suggestions? -
External monitor not detected on Thinkpad W530 intel-virtual-output
I'm having problems with connecting my ThinkPad W530 to external monitors since a few months. I'm using NVIDIA Optimus and bumblebee/optirun since the VGA and Mini DisplayPort connectors are only wired to the NVIDIA card om this laptop. For a long time I have executed:
$ optirun true
$ intel-virtual-output
Then I have started the Screens GUI tool in Gnome to setup the placement of the external screen but now the external screen is not present in the GUI tool and xrandr gives me:
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
LVDS1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm
1920x1080 60.00*+ 50.00
1400x1050 59.98
1280x1024 60.02
1280x960 60.00
1024x768 60.00
800x600 60.32 56.25
640x480 59.94
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
If I select "Discrete mode" and select startup screen as VGA in the BIOS the BIOS and the Grub screens shows on the external monitor but the screen locks on the screen that shows that the system is booting with the linux-ck kernel. This has never worked for me in Arch Linux so that is no surprise. In Ubuntu everything everything worked fine the last time I tried.
How can I debug this? Why is the external screen not detected any more? Thanks, I am not sure exactly how to read the logs but I cannot find anything that is obviously wrong
Below is my log with an external screen connected via Mini DisplayPort and after running:
$ optirun true
$ intel-virtual-output
a few times, no more logs seem to be added when I connect/disconnect the monitor or when I run the above two commands more times.

Is there a way to stop windows from automatically turning off and/or deciding that it wants to re-prioritize which display is primary.
I cant understand why windows keeps choosing to ignore my Samsung SyncMaster SA300 monitor anytime I hook up my LCD TV.
I don't mind that it detects the displays, but I sure am not a fan of when it decides without my permission to just change things around.
Is there a way to disable it from doing any changes without my authorization? If not I can see this being used as an exploit sometime in the future.
Edit: Also I may as well post that I have used this same machine with all the same hardware with no issues using Vista Ultimate x64 for a number of years. But as soon as I upgraded to Win 7 Ult x64 this issue has been a major plague on my system.
System:
EVGA 780i Mainboard
Intel q9650 Core2quad
8gigs ocz reaper 1333
x2 EVGA GTX 260 SLI
750w Corsair PSHi,
This issue can be caused by graphic card driver or graphic card manager program.
I suggest you update the graphic card driver from manufacturer's website and graphic card manager program if there is.

External LCD Monitor not detected
I've recently just bought a LED monitor and I've tried using the mini-display port to DVI cable and a DVI to VGA cable to connect to my macbook pro to my external LED monitor but it wasn't detected.
Anyone happen to know what the possible issue is? Is it the mini-display port or the DVI to VGA cable?
Hi texas-rangy,
If you're planning to format the laptop, the Operating System will simply roll back and it will reinstall the original Operating System which is Windows 8. Yes, you can still roll back to Windows 8 as long as the recovery partition is still accessible. This is also the last troubleshooting steps that we do to isolate if the issue if hardware or software. You may check the steps here: How to perform a System Recovery from outside of Windows. We suggest to backup all your important files within Windows and disregard the option Rescue Data on this process.
Once done formatting the unit, test your external monitor. If the monitor works then it is software issue. Proceed with the upgrade process. It is advisable to follow the steps of Upgrading the Operating System from Windows 8 to 8.1. Just follow the link. How do I upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1?
I know this is a long process but we need to consider every step and make sure that we did follow the correct procedures.
Hope these help.
Best regard,
Vincent

External monitor not detected - Early 2015 MBA
I am the IT admin at my company here. Recently, one of the employees started having severe problems with his Mid-2012 MBA, which would only operate in Safe Mode. Because he needs his computer at all times, my initial "solution" was to give him a new MBA, then try to work on the old one. I gave him a brand new "Early 2015" MBA.
For one day, it worked without issue, but then this morning it stopped detecting the external monitor.
I have done the following:
1. Swapping hardware. I've tried this with a DVI to MDP cable, as well as an HDMI cable using an HDMI to MDP adapter and a DVI cable with a DVI to MDP adapter. I've also tries two different monitors, including a brand new one out of the box.
Note that ALL of these configurations work flawlessly with the 2012 MBA, but the 2015 one doesn't even detect that anything has been plugged in (it does not do the familiar "flash" on the laptop screen).
2. SMC Reset
3. "Detect Displays" from the Displays system preference panel.
4. Plugged another device (a hard drive) into the Thunderbolt/MDP. It works fine.
Both laptops have OS version 10.10.3
Any advice would be appreciated.I am the IT admin at my company here. Recently, one of the employees started having severe problems with his Mid-2012 MBA, which would only operate in Safe Mode. Monitor rotated 90 degrees: Can no longer set resolution?
I have a Mac Mini (mid-2011 version; server hardware edition) that I just upgraded to Mavericks from 10.8. The mini has two monitors attached: an HP ZR30w via mini DisplayPort (plugged into the Thunderbolt port on the Mac) in a portrait configuration, and an HP ZR24w in landscape connected via HDMI.
Upon rebooting after the upgraded completed, I noticed that the resolution on the ZR30w was unusually low. Playing around with System Preferences, I found that if I configured the monitor's rotation settings to anything not "Standard", I could only set the resolution to 800x1280 or 1024x768. If I reconfigure rotation to "Standard" then I can use the monitor's full resolution of 2560x1600: it's just that the displayed image is sideways, since the monitor is physically in a portrait configuration but the Mac really wants it to be in Landscape mode.
Any ideas how to fix this?In System Preferences > Displays, hold the OPTION button when clicking on the Scaled radio button.

T61 and the Intel Graphics Card error - external monitor not detected
T61 with Vista 32 bit, Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset and an Advanced Mini Dock.
I am trying to use the DVI port and an external monitor. The driver does not detect the external monitor.
Uninstalling the Intel driver the Generic profile will work on the external monitor, but is overly fuzzy, how do I get the T61 to recognize my external monitor with the right drivers?
I am currently running the Intel Driver Ver. - 7.14.10.1329, which provides the message under Multiple Display:
Two displays must be connected to the computer before you can use this feature. Please connect another display.
Of course my 22" monitor is connected. That is the frustrating part. I have also uninstalled Presentation Director, just in case, but then re-installed after it seemed that wasn't the problem.
There is a newer driver from Intel but it is not Lenovo approved yet I guess. Though I highly doubt this is the problem. What can I do?
~~
I did post a thread on the thinkpads.com too, but so far haven't had any luck.Well the new dock came but didn't fix the problem. Now my nice new T61 is packed up in a depot box, waiting for DHL to come pick it up.
dkaufman1 -- I guess we do have different problems. If I set my T61 to display to the DVI port in the bios I get a blank screens on both the DVI connectd monitor and the laptop screen until the OS boots when I have the laptop in the dock. The only way I can see the bios screen to set it back to the ThinkPad LCD setting is to boot it disconnected from the dock.
I really hope that this problem is resolved, as I really like the T61 otherwise. I was even using it with the VGA cable connected to my 22" monitor, but it was pretty hard to take. I'm now back to my old desktop hooked up to the same monitor via DVI and it is quite the relief, even if it isn't as zippy as the T61. -

That's why you're only getting a mirrored display and don't have the option
to extend your desktop. The Microsoft driver doesn't support anything other than mirroring.
Check Windows Update to see if you're offered an update to your display
adapter or try to download and install the latest driver from Intel.

KDE battery monitor not detecting laptop battery
I am using KDE on my Dell XPS laptop. The default battery monitor that comes with KDE installation is not detecting the laptop battery. It is showing "Battery: Not Present". Because of this I am unaware about the time remaining on my battery. Any solutions please?
Have you tried rebooting *twice*? I've seen this issue but I've always resolved it by rebooting and then rebooting again. (The system goes rather insane on the first reboot and I always think either my hardware is completely screwed or my install of Arch is twisted far beyond the point of insanity. But then on the second boot, it calms down, finds the hardware and carries on quite happily. I've no idea why.)

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix Mini DisplayPort Monitor not Detected
My ThinkPad Helix does not detect the connection of a known good Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, VGA cable, and monitor.
Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver 10.18.10.3958
Thanks for any troubleshooting tips.Hi, Backupsonline
Before buying another adapter, I would just make sure that the system is fully up to date by means of drivers and BIOS. Here is the driver matrix for your machine, which lists all available updates for the system. Try downloading the latest versions for your devices and see if it helps.
Best,
Adam
