Xcode 4.4 autosave in Mountain Lion

Unless I am missing something Xcode 4.4. does not honor the newly Ask to Keep Changes When Closing Document (aka autosave/revert feature) in Preferences > General.
However it works for things like Textedit and Preview.  Does anyone know if it works or is Apple still working on a fix...

Is it because apps built in xcode 4.2 are not compatible with 4.6, and therefore invisible?
No, something else made the projects disappear.  Were they ever backed up to TM?  Are the projects there except for the .xcodeproj files?

  • How do I dual boot Mountain Lion

I recenetly purchased a new iMac with Mountain Lion installed on it. My previous Mac runs Lion. I still have a few apps which I need to support older devices for and need to run an earlier version of xCode than is allowed on Mountain Lion. My hope was to setup a dual boot system with both Lion and Mountain Lion to do this. So far I have not been able to figure this out. I've tried to follow walkthroughs on the web, but they were all had Lion and were making a Mountain Lion partition. Any input would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Yep. Your new machine can only be started with the version of Mountain Lion with which it came.
There isn't much you can do. If you wish to spend money you can purchase Parallels 8 for OS X and try running Lion or Snow Leopard in emulation. See Running Lion as a Guest OS in Parallels Desktop 7 - YouTube.

  • InDesign CS6 SDK under Mountain Lion

Is there a way to setup a plugin development environment under osx 10.8 (mountail lion) ?
So far i did not succeed in installing xcode 3, nor builing the sdk samples using xcode 4. Is there any way i can do this using ML ?
    Best Regards, DS

We're building plug-ins for InDesign CS5, CS5.5, and CS6 in Xcode 3.2.6 on Mountain Lion.  It all works fine, although getting Xcode set up can be a bit tricky.  These links might help:
    http://hamstergene.github.com/blog/2012-11-13-xcode3-mountain-lion/
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11778243/xcode-3-2-6-and-mountain-lion
I'll also note that older InDesign SDKs (CS4 and earlier) are problematic under Lion and Mountain Lion because their ODFRC compilers are PowerPC programs:

  • Building Plug-Ins under Mountain Lion

    Hi Folks,
Has anybody here done plug-in development when running Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)? Lion seems OK, so I'm guessing that ML would be OK too, but.......
    Thanks!

    Hi Norio,
    Thanks for replying!
FWIW, I was able to install Xcode 3.2.6 onto Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), using these instructions from Stack Overflow: <http://tinyurl.com/6xj8cjc>.
I have not had any issues building CS6 plug-ins with Xcode 3.2.6. Basically, I want to use a newer MacBook Pro for development, and I am stuck with using Lion. I can always use my old MBP, but I don't want to have to haul around a couple of MacBook Pros.
On the other hand, I have not tried to install Xcode 3.2.x on Mountain Lion. I'm hoping that upgrading Lion to Mountain Lion will not interfere with my install of Xcode.
    Cheers!

Dashcode is not working in Mountain Lion. I tried updating to Xcode 4.4 and it still did not work . . .
I use dashcode for most of my coding needs, so it is very important to me!

I have the same problem too. dashcode shows up in the finder but its just a question mark (see screenshot). Anyone found a way to address this?
    Thanks!

  • Mac Mini/Xcode/OS Mountain Lion issue

    Hi everyone,
I'm a complete newbie to macs and I'm having a tough time figuring a couple of things out. I basically bought a mac mini so I can use Xcode. I went to try and download it but when it finishes and I open the Xcode file I get a message that says "Xcode Not Supported On This Archtecture". I hit software upgrade but it stays stuck on version 10.5.8. Then I see that you can pay $20 bucks for the newest Mountain Lion update.
Do I need to get Mountain Lion in order for Xcode to work on my Mac Mini?
For further info, I signed up as a developer and I have the 3 gig version of the Mac Mini. I've heard kind of confusing things regarding Xcode with people saying it's free but others saying you have to pay an annual fee. At the moment I haven't paid for anything relating to Xcode.
Basically my main question is, how do I get Xcode up and running?
Sorry if this is all super rookie bush league but I'm brand new to the mac world.
    Thanks for all your help.

Xcode is free. A basic login to the developer site is free. For $99 you get full membership in the developer program and the ability to release software either in the App Store (depending on either iOS or Mac program). If you are in the Mac developer program you can release software with a Developer ID. You also get access to different versions of the operating system for testing.
The problem is that your Mac Mini is from 2007 at best. It will not run Mountain Lion. You can call Apple (yes - telephone only - no online sales) and purchase either Snow Leopard or Lion. In the developer site you can download an older version of Xcode appropriate for whatever operating system you want to run. That will be enough to learn on. If you ever want to move publishing your apps, you will need a new system.

You can directly install Mountain Lion 10.8.0 to 10.6.8, and then apply the 10.8.2 Update.
    Hope this helps

Restart your Mac and follow the instructions here >  Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads

A recommendation. When upgrading to a new OS X, if it can be avoided, do not interfere with the installation.

  • Will Xcode 5 work on Mac OS X Mountain Lion?

I'm wondering if Xcode 5 is compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion. If it is, I wonder if it will run!

I've come across the same thing, and went to the Mac App Store and downloaded and installed Xcode through that.
However, it seems to have put the new Xcode.app straight into the Applications folder, whereas before (v 4.2.1) was installed in Developer\Applications\Xcode.app. In fact, it still is!
How do I uninstall everything that belongs to Xcode 4.2.1 from my system, but leaving Xcode 4.4. It seems parts of the new Xcode (4.4) have been put into the \Developer\ folder as well, so it's not obvious what I would need to delete... Can anyone shed some light on this?

  • How to remove xcode 4.3.3 update from mountain lion Appstore

    Hello,
I moved my old xcode 4.3.1 installation from the application folder to the trash. I also deleted /Developer (prevoius xcode installations)
Now the AppStore want to update to xcode 4.3.3. But I can't update, because I installed mountain lion. For mountain lion I use xcode 4.4 and 4.5 beta's.
How can I remove this update 4.3.3 from the AppStore??
    Thanks
    Andreas

That's life. You will probably always have that Xcode in there and Lion too. The App Store keeps track of its apps. If you install something newer on your own, the App Store can't handle that. See if you can hide the purchase: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928

  • Hacking XCode to work on Mountain Lion?

Today I opened XCode after upgrading to Mountain Lion and I got a notification saying that it only works with Lion and I need to upgrade to a Mountain Lion ready version, then it crashed.  I opened up the App Store, and there are currently no upgrades to XCode available in it.  Why on earth would they break the main tool for developers and not release the upgrades at the same time?  Does anyone know a way to hack XCode into working on Mountain Lion?  Working on projects with thousands of files isn't exactly fun in vi

Go back to the Mac App Store and try again.
Xcode 4.4 should be there for everyone.
