Xcode error when plugging in iPhone

When I plug in my iPhone 2.0 with the latest XCode running, I receive the following error. Instance is different obviously, but the message is always the same. When I hit 'continue', it just ends up closing and asking to relaunch. I unplug my iPhone, and hit relaunch and it runs fine. Emulator runs fine.
Is there anything that I need to do?

not yet. I have no idea what to try. When I first installed the iPhone SDK, i had one profile on my computer. The simulator would crash so the work around was to create another profile which I called Dev. The alpine simulator worked fine for all sample code and apps that I downloaded. I didn't use my iPod Touch at this time because I didn't want to wipe it. Now that the full version of SDK is released, I figured that I'd give it a shot but now it crashes Xcode when I plug in my iPhone.
I can's seem to find this error referenced ANYWHERE. It's driving me nutz because people always say "with Apple, it just works". Unfortunately that's not the case. With Apple, I when it doesn't work, no one has a solution.

I have a similar problem with my new iphone 4, but I never had the problem with my previous iphone 3g.
Your post seems promising. However, you say ''right click on the APD icon in the system tray (it must be resembling a small camera) and select disable''. Unfortunatlely I don't know where to find '' the system tray''. Control Panel has a system folder but I can't find any access to an icon resembling a camera. Also, I am used to using Adobe Photoshop downloader. Since it worked with my previous iphone, can't it be made to work with the iphone 4?

Back up Error when syncing my iPhone 3GS

I get an error when syncing my iPhone to my PC that says iTunes cannot backup your iPhone. Any idea how to correct this without resetting my iPhone?

Check iTunes / Preferences - Devices. Delete any backups you see stored there.
Quit iTunes, restart your computer.
Try syncing your iPhone.

My iphone 5 doesnt however.
But to Stop Launch when your apple device is connected, 1. connect your iPhoneto your computer, 2.Go to the Summary Page, 3. uncheck the box "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" and then your good for that device.

Annoying message when plugging in iPhone to Powermac

When I plug my iPhone 4GS into my Powermac (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) I keep getting this message:
Operating System Too Old
The installed MacFUSE version is too new for the operating system.
Please downgrade your MacFUSE installation to one that is compatible with the currently running operating system.
There are 4 seperate windows of the same message and the are always on top of whatever windaw is open. When I OK them they all come back, like a recurring nightmare.
I have uninstalled Macfuse, re-installed Macfuse and uninstalled it again and the message keeps coming back

You should ask on the MacFUSE support forums. Clearly the error message is related to that, not your iPhone.

ITunes does not start up when plugging in iPhone?

I wonder how to get iTunes start up automatically when I plug my iPhone in to my MacBook. Right now, when I plug in my iPhone the iPhoto starts up instead. This is strange because I thought that iTunes should be the one starting up. Anyone knows how to fix this.

I found this thread trying to figure out the opposite: disable iTunes from starting up every time I plugged in my iPhone. The UI flow doesn't make it obvious either way.
If auto sync is disabled globally in itunes/settings/devices, the sync option in the summary pane/advanced section is unchecked and grayed out.
So by checking the global disable option, iTunes will always automatcially start up (by not sync) when I plug in my iPhone regardless.
By unchecking to "enable" automatic syncing (double negative UI options FTL), that enables the summary pane/advanced section where you can now uncheck the automatic sync option for the device, which will then also keep iTunes from popping up.

Xcode error when opening or creating projects

Hi,
I've got a project for school that's written in C and is able to be compiled on a number of different systems, and I'm told Mac OSX is one of them. I'd like to use xcode, because I don't really know of any other c tools to use on the Mac, and also, the sourse I have has a folder called fdk.xcode, with a file called project.pbxproj in it. I'm assuming this is/was used for xcode on the Mac.
So anyway. I installed xcode from the developer package that was sitting on my hard drive, and double clicked the project file: xcode opens, and then I get an error message:
Error: can't open blah/blah/blah.xcode
Reason: *-[PBXToolbar_notificationPostingEnabled]: selector not recognized [self = 0x4730270].
So I hit continue, and I get another error message box:
Internal Error
Uncaught Exception:

So... Umm.. what the **** does that mean?
I first figured it was the project file, so I tried to create a new empty project in xcode. When I create the new project, I get the same error messages. And when I try to reopen the project (because it actually makes the folder and puts a .xcode project file in there) I get the same error again.
My only thought on this, and I could be totally wrong, is that this version of xcode is from 10.3, which came preinstalled on my Powerbook, and I've since upgraded to 10.4. Does that make sense?
Anyway.. if so, how do I go about uninstalling this version of xcode before I try the one that's on my 10.4 dvd?
My version of Xcode is 1.0, with component versions:
xcode ide: 256.0
xcode core: 256.0

You seriously need to download and install the latest version of Xcode if you are using Tiger. The current version is 2.2 or something.
Get it from the downloads section at
http://connect.apple.com
You will have to register to gain access. Before you do so, I further suggest that you completely uninstall the old version, which can be done with a shell script located in /Developer/Tools. If you are not comfortable with doing this here is the commandline in Terminal:
/Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.5 it crashes when plugging in iPhone

I wanted to upgrade my iPhone to iOS 5, so I did the software update to OS X 10.7.2 and iTunes to 10.5, then restarted my Mac. Since then when iTunes is running and I plug in my iPhone, iTunes crashes. What do I do?

I'm having the same issue when trying to update my iPhone 4 from the original software version to iOS 5 from my PC. I inherited this phone when my original iPhone 4 was lost. I had kept up with all the updates and now I think since my phone has so many updates between 4.2.1 to the iOS 5 that may be the reason? Any help would be appreciated! I even removed iTunes and reinstalled again. I deauthorized my phone and authorized again, but still no luck.

Windows error when plugging in video ipod - device has malfunctioned

Hello all, I'm hoping someone here will be able to help with this problem.
I've had my 30gb video ipod for just over six months (bought online at the apple website) and it's worked fine up until about a week ago.
I plugged it into my pc as usual but then got the following windows error.
'One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it.'
In case it's relevant my pc is running win xp media edition.
Now after reading the FAQ's I've tried connecting the ipod to 4 other desktops and one laptop and I get the same error message on all of them.
I've also tried switching the ipod to 'disk mode' but I still get the same error message when plugging the ipod into my pc.
Apart from these errors the ipod itself will still play all the music and videos that I have on it and my fm transmitter that I bought for it still works as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try? As far as I can see the only way to format the ipod is via the pc but I cannot get any pc to recognise it so I'm stuck!
Any help you could chuck my way would be appreciated.

when I plug iphone into laptop pc, itunes opens but then a popup says itunes cannot communicate with iphone because an error occurred while reading from the device. Does anybody have any ideas?

Do you have a passcode on your iPhone, this will cause it to be locked out of itunes. You must put in your passcode and unlock before plugging in.

Error when I connect Iphone or Ipad to Itunes

When I install ITunes, it installs fine but when I plug in my Iphone 4s or Ipad2, I get an error 'This Ipad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, then install the 64 bit version.' I am installing the 64 bit version. I completely remove all Apple products and try again with a lower version and it doesn't work.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

"Digest User" in the "Protocol Specific Information" section of Phone Configuration selected right user. in this Jabber I see following error "Failed to get device configuration". however Jabber for Windows and for Android hasn't such issues - they succesfully can log in from Internet and it can do calls and IM but I see next messages in VCS Expressway when Jabber is logging in. The same log line appears when Jabber for Android log in:

Thanks Srini, but the instructions have two options:
1. Use the Control Panel, select "Oracle 11g..." and uninstall from there.
This is of course the first thing I tried, but as I said, there is no entry for Oracle 11g in my "Programs and Features" applet.
2. Download the install package and run OracleXE.exe with the remove iss file.
Firstly, there is no OracleXE.exe in the package I downloaded, just setup.exe;
Secondly, setup.exe ignores the iss parameter and tells me that OracleXE is already installed (setup.log contains ResultCode=-3) so it can't be installed.
Is there somewhere else to get an OracleXE.exe that will work for 11g? Or are these the instructions for 10g and haven't been updated yet?
Am I unusual in not having a Control Panel entry?
(and I understand this is a beta - that's partly why I'd like to uninstall it - I'll go back to 10g and not be so impatient :))

I am having problems with my itunes, when plugging my iphone or ipod to the laptop - i can see iphone/ipod in the top right corner of itunes but when i click this to the see what is on theis iphone/ipod the option is no longer there, this was working

I am having problems with the new itunes set up ........
when i plug in my iphone or ipod touch it shows in the top right hand corner of itunes
BUT when i click on the shown iphone/ipod the icon its no longer there, i was useing this fine yesterday and it was showing yesterday what is on this ipod and would allow me to add/remove music, but now this option is no longer availlable - i have added a couple of albums to my itunes i can listen to the music from the laptop but cannot sync the ipods to trancefer these albums to the handheld devices -
i have been trying to sort this all day with no luck not sure if there is a problems with itunes or is it something i am doing ????

Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.
