Xcode in macbook air

After I installed xcode in macbook air 11.6. the system reboot time becomes over 30 secs. Is it normal? or is there a way to fix it?

How many times have you rebooted? After a big install it's fairly typical for the next reboot to take longer. Your next reboot should be much shorter.

  • Xcode With MacBook Air 11 and 4 ram will work well ?

    Hello Guys ,
I thought to buy MacBook Air 11 and 4gb ram , So i just wanted to ask , he will work good for Development ? Without problems ?

MacBook Air 13-inch with 8GB RAM will be a better choice.
That statement means nothing without some argumentation. How much does Xcode need RAM? How big codebase works well with 4GB? Have you actually EVER ran out of memory with 4GB usign Xcode?
8GB is better, of course. But if everything can be done with 4GB then it is better to save the money.
I have used MBA 2011/2GB and it worked flawlessly in normal desktop usage (Safari, Terminal, Email etc...). Didn't try with Xcode, though.

  • Can Macbook Air 11" (1.4 Ghz 2 GB Ram 128 GB HD) run xCode as well ?

I've planed to buy a new portable laptop which lighter and smaller than other. I doubt,Can Macbook Air 11" (1.4 Ghz 2 GB Ram 128 GB HD) run xCode as well ? I love its design.

If you are referring to the XCode Tools program development system, then the answer is, Yes.

  • Can we run Xcode 5 smoothly in MacBook air 4th generation with 4GB RAM and 1.3 GhZ processor ??

I am planning to purchase MacBook Air-11inch due to light weight. As MacBook air has turbo boost feature upto 2.6GHz.

I would recommend a different machine. I don't see how you will do anything in Xcode on an 11" display. I finally broke down and got a 2nd monitor for my 13".

  • Is XCode fast enough on a MacBook Air 11" 4GB RAM

Hello, in December I will be buying a brand new MacBook Air for school and personal use.  I will also be developing Apps as a developer for iOS using XCODE.  My concern is if a MacBook Air with 64/128 GB Flash Storage and 4GB RAM.  Should I switch to a pro, I am on a tight limit, but don't want to waste my money and regret it. Also, I heard the MacBook Air is very slow installing programs and such, all I would be able to do is check email....  is that true?
    THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS

I am by no means a programmer however I have installed and played around with Xcode on my 11" i5 128gb with 4gb of memory and it seems to run flawlessly.  Installed fast considering the immense size of the program (~7gb installed) and ran fine.  The screen resolution seems like it'd be the limiting factor on the 11" when running xcode.
Other then xcode, the new MBA's are very snappy even with the base 1.6ghz i5 processor and remember there is an option for the 1.8ghz i7.
I am not recommending against a pro but the air will surprise you.  Go in to a local apple store and check them out!
    Hope this helps.

  • How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

MacBook Pro - no problem, it is an extremely popular computer for running that software. Just look at the Adobe demo videos of their products, most of the time you can see a MacBook Pro running the software in their video.
MacBook Air - should be just as good most of the time.
However, if you get involved in heavy Photoshop work like highly stacked layers/masks/channels, 16 bits per channel or up, or merging HDR or panoramas, the MacBook Pro may be better because it can take 16GB RAM while the MacBook Air can take only 8GB RAM.
Also, if you are going to do serious programming in XCode or Dreamweaver, you may find the MacBook Air screen to be too small for all of the code windows and tool palettes that you may want to open and arrange in those programs. The 15" Retina screen of the MacBook Pro will let you spread out your work and do less window switching. The 11/"13" MacBook Air screens are both smaller and non-Retina so not as sharp.
Even Photoshop is nicer on the 15" MacBook Pro because of the extra screen space for the image with less intrusion by the tool palettes.
In short, if you are a casual user the MacBook Air will be great. If you are a professional with a heavy workload the MacBook Pro may be more efficient overall due to the larger screen and higher RAM capacity.

  • MacBook Air 11" XCode performance

Can someone give me some feedback if XCode runs smooth enough to develop for iOS?

Check out that link, although it does discuss the older generation MBA (discussion made in 2008), most developers say it was fine although you should get the most RAM which you will it seems. Although in all honesty I would think the 13.3" screen would be a lot better since it is easier to work with a larger screen.
Personally I have a 15" MBP, I only ever use only a portion when dealing with XCode, so I think a 13" would be best. 11" is pushing it a bit. But its your choice.

  • Anyone could help me fix the problem with the Xcode. I don't need it, but I unintentionally download it, now I want to remove it from my macbook air.

When I open up XCode it really heats up my macbook air.  To the point where if I touch the corner of the laptop where the power plugs in, I cant leave the finger on it for more than 5 secs...
    Anybody else have this?
