XCODE viewing variables in the Debugger???
Folks,
I have read every manual related to debugging variables within the xcode framework. I can't get the values of the variables to appear in the xcode debugger. For instance, I placed a breakpoint in the following code snippet. I cannot see the contents of the NSArray named elementNameIndexArray. Sure the variable appears in the variable window of the debugger, but how do I inspect each element of the NSArray?? along with all the variables of each element?? I can't seem to figure it out.

You can view whatever you want using the "po" command in gdb:
po [[AboutArrayElements sharedDaveElements] elementNameIndexArray]
will print the elements of the array, for example.

Can I use the debugger to identify items on stage?
Hi all,
I have an app that uses several Loader objects to load extenral swf files. Things go well except for one point. I have a quiz element that's loaded through a loader named 'quiz'. When the quiz is done, I remove the quiz element with removeChild(quiz). The quiz disappears from the screen every time except for one question. I can't identify what's going on differently for that question. I've debugged this and can see that my quiz object is set to null, but I can plainly see the quiz still onscreen.
To further confuse me, I use the same loader object multiple times through the app, and just add it and remove it from the display list with addChild and removeChild. When my one problem question comes up and fails to go away, the app continues to the next question, and I can see that there are now 2 quiz objects stacked on top of each other. I have no idea how this can happen when I'm using the same loader object for all the questions.
Anyway, I'm hoping I can use the variables in the debugger to identify what I'm seeing onstage, but am not sure where to start looking. Are all dispaly objects that are children of the app within the stage in the debugger variables? The root? I'm just not sure where to look. If someone can tell me where to find the display objects on the stage or whatever in the debugger variables, that would be great and I can hopefully troubleshoot it from there.here's some code that might help . . . they're really pretty simple.
Here are the 2 main methods that handles loading and unloading the quiz.

put_question is called from the timeline at the end of an animation. The method executes and puts the quiz. The quiz_done method is run when the user selects the right anwser, reads some feedback, then clicks to continue.
I have 5 scenes before the problem point that use these methods and the work great. The quiz appears, works fine, then disappears when the quiz_done function is called. In the last scene, though, the quiz just doesn't disappear when the quiz_done function runs!
I'm hoping I can find a way to use the debugger to set a break point at the end of the quiz_done method and then go through the display list and see what it is I'm still seeing, as the quiz should be removed from the display list at that point. -
Providing access to Variables in the Query Designer
Greetings experts and fellow consultants,
I have a simple question, did a search and did not come up with much of an answer. Currently, we have a system with a role for BI Power Users in order for them to create ad-hoc queries. An issue we found was that these power users were not able to view variables within the query designer:
Under the "Characteristic Restrictions" pane, the variables show up as (Display Not Allowed) under their associated InfoObjects. This is presenting an issue (understandably) and I would like to provide access for these power users to see the variables.
My question is, are there any circumstances where I would want to restrict which variables are shown to the power user? Right now, I plan to allow display access to all variables (via S_RS_COMP+S_RS_COMP1 for those informed on Security). Just trying to brainstorm on whether there might be scenerios where I would want to hide certain variables.

Apparently, I could not find any and the changes went through without issue. The way you enable display of variables in the Query Designer is the following:

Using bind variables in the model view for master detail
Hi all,
I have a master-detail views setup on the following two queries.
In the first query below - I use two bind variables to collect the start and end date.
you have to add (and :startDate = :startDate and :endDate = :endDate) or you will get errors - bind not defined in sql
I then use the viewQueryCriteria to collect the data on a search panel - so far so good. (Make the bind variables required) along with the other criteria.
The bind variables are displayed in the search panel and the data is entered correctly.
The query executes and all is happy.

I would assume you could get access to the child view in the VOViewImpl file and set the bind variables there.

How can i view the variables of the session memory.Such as I want display the variables of memory which id is 'BULRN' in ABAP debug.

ABAP memory is a memory area that all ABAP programs within the same internal session can access using the EXPORT and IMPORT statements. Data within this area remains intact during a whole sequence of program calls. To pass data
to a program which you are calling, the data needs to be placed in ABAP memory before the call is made. The internal session of the called program then replaces that of the calling program. The program called can then read from the ABAP memory. If control is then returned to the program which made the initial call, the same process operates in reverse.
ABAP memory is temporary and values are retained in same LUW.

i have a view created on the Query which has a variable called Reporting date. the variable is Customer exit variable.
The view that we have created is not getting refreshed every time i exetue that view.
Say I have created the view on 10-07-2006... everytime i execute that view i'm getting data for 10-07-2006 only. We have a web template for this view. it is possible to refresh the data.

Check the restictions in the report and also check the custome exit variable(repoting date) by debugging.
Keep break point in customer exit(after WHEN) and execute the report.

I would like to use - for example a presentation- variable in the title of a graph.
I assign a value for that variable in dashboard prompt.
Does anybody know the syntax of using variable in the title of a graph
(Not in a Title view!)

Error while using selection option variable in the selection screen
Hi All,
I am facing an issue while using selection option variable in the selection screen for one of my reports.
Scenario: For the field "Region From" we need to have wild card logic () in tes selection screen, for example if we put "BE" in the selection screen for the field Region From then the query should be executed only for those "Region From" values which begin from "BE".
Approach: For the above requirement I have made a selection option variable for "Region From". This allows use wild card
But when the report is executed we get the following error:
"System error in program CL_RSR_REQUEST. Invalid filter on ETVRGNFR".
(ETVRGNFR is technical name of the info object Region From)
Though the report is executed it displays all the values for the field "Region From" irrespective of the selection given in the selection screen.
Please give suggestions / alternate solutions to crack this issue.

Try to use a variable of type Customer Exit and do the validation inside the exit to display according to your request.
This is just my view, i am not sure if u are already using this or Char. Variable.

CollectionView tutorial, Xcode crashes 100% of the time
I'm writing a document-based application using a CollectionView in each document. Following the guide

with the only modification in using the NSDocument subclass to hold the NSMutableArray, instead of the App Delegate as suggested (since there is no App Delegate in the template). In the "Bind the Views to the Data" stage, when I attempt to bind any object in the collection view item view, Xcode (4.1 on Lion) crashes whenever I select "Collection View Item" from the drop down in the bindings tab. This crash would occur every attempt without exception, on multiple Macs (early-2010 iMac, mid-2009 MacBook aluminium). Anyone else seeing this? Perhaps know a way around it?This is not an answer, but a potential path. There are far more discussions and far more developers following on the Apple mailing lists (the Xcode list, for this case) or in the Developer forums, than are here in the Apple Support Communities. (The developer mailing lists are open, and the list archives contain a wealth of information. The Apple developer forums require developer program membership for access.) And the usual suggestion applies: log a bug report via radar.
And while I don't think it'll help, you might be asked to uninstall Xcode and then reinstall it. Sometimes Xcode can get itself tangled up after an upgrade. -
How do I use a OS (Windows) Environment Variable in the source path of me ActionScript 3.0 settings
I'm sure this can be done as I know we used something similiar at my old work place, below is an image showing what I am attempting to do.
We used this to create more portable / shareable assets files which when symbols are linking to code, the code was very often in different directories on different machines.
So we had set up environment variables in the OS to point to source directories and then used these variables in the source paths.
As long as everyone had these variables set up then it would all work.
Anyone know the correct way to do this in Flash CC

Rhys Thomassinious the problem with doing that is that the changed path gets into the code repository as well, so you wind up with everyone going back and forth changing it to their own value, which is a hassle. If you use relative paths and a standard project setup, then it all "just works" without a problem.

We have a "base project" that you check out to start a new project (we do heaps of similar work), and the paths are already set up to be relative. Having each project point to its own copy of the core code allows for fine-grained control of which revision you're using--we've even pointed deliberately to old versions or branches on rare occasions.
The bin folder is actually shared with the website repository, which is in a different directory from the Flash source code (in the website, it has a different name). This allows the generated swfs to be easily updated and ensures that the latest XML is being used both for development and on the site.
The "thisProject" folder actually includes a Flash Builder workspace with all the standard shortcuts, etc., already set up. This is primarily because of how the "default path" works when you create a new Flash Pro project in FB. Because we output a level up from the workspace, we hack the .metadata folder every time, but that's a small change. -
How to print a request variable in the name of a section?
Hello all,
I have a session variable created in the RPD called VarWorstStore
and I have a prompt which sets a request variable with the same name.
Now when I put a report which is filtered on this variable then I can see that the variable is changing when I press go in the dashboard prompt.
However, I call this variable in a section as well (go to page options - edit dashboard and click on rename of a section)
Now I type: @{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.VarWorstStore']} and check the box Display section heading.
Now when I save the dashboard I can see the value of the session variable. However, when I change the session variable with the prompt, thenb I can see that the report is changing, but the title isn't.

However, I was thinking in first instance on a narrative view myself indeed, however this is not good enough for me, because I really have an almost pixel perfect dashboard.
But the thing with the prompt works!!! What I have done is making an extra prompt with the default value set to the session variable and then I set a presentation variable in the same prompt, and after that I am filtering the reports on the presentation variable in stead of the session variable.
But I cannot find anywhere where to hide the prompt, can you tell me this?
The only way I can hide things is to set permissions I gues, but then I also guess is that the prompt will do not do its tasks when the user has no permissions to this prompt.

Why can't I see the Display List in the Debugger?
As bad as the Flash debugger was, at least you could see movie clips being nested as you dynamically added/deleted them from the screen.
When I import swfs/swcs into Flash Builder, I can't "see" them added as properties in the debugger - that is, I can see the movieclips I imported, but not any clips nested inside them.
Also, it would be IMMENSELY helpful if there was a way to actually see the DisplayList in the debugger - perhaps I am missing something?1. (should be labeled as such). These are members that are inherited from the class ancestry.

The shapes are only reused twice (the color imparts the meaning).

We have custom IOs which refers to 0CALWEEK and 0CALMONTH.In the report we have variables on the custom IOs.For these variables F4 help does not giving any values .I tested with 0CALWEEK also. For the 0CALWEEK also F4 help does not working..Please help me on this issue.The variable I haveused d to test with 0CALWEEK is 0S_CWEEK.

I don't know how it is done in infoset. But if you have a context node and attribute for the field which is displayed in the view, create a custom dictionary search help for the field you want. Design the search help as per your requirements (what fields to be displayed etc..).
In the context attribute of that field property, select 'Dictionary search help' in the Input help mode. Enter the name of your custom search help here.
