-Xdebug causes OC4J instance fail to start

I try to config oracle application server 10g to allow remote-debug. I follow
some threads on this site and add the following in opmn.xml for my
instance:
-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=5050
After it, I can't start my instance anymore.
Any helps would be greatly appreciated.
/Wade

Wade, please take a look at the log files, especially the opmn/logs/home*log file. See if you can find what is the cause. It is possible the address 5050 is used.

  • Invalid console application caused WLS to fail to start

    We are using WLS 6.1 SP3 on W2K. In our config.xml, there is no reference
    to
    a console app., after shutting down the WLS using weblogic.Admin, the
    config.xml
    has an entry like this:
    <Application Name="console-1"
    Path="d:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\agileDomain\applications">
    <WebAppComponent Name="console" URI="console.war"/>
    </Application>
    The name 'console-1' caused WLS to fail to start. Any hints. I don't
    believe we have this problem in
    WLS 6.1 SP2.

  • OC4J  instance doesn't start automatically on boot.

    I've installed 9iAS 9.0.2 on a Win2K advanced Server machine.
    However the OC4J instances don't startup automatically on boot and I have to start them up manually using the Enterprise Manager.
    Is there any way to make them start up automatically?

    Is your Oracle9iASProcessManager service set to automatic ? If so the OC4J and HTTP server processes will startup automatically.

  • SQL Server Express 2008 instance fails to start

    I've installed SQL Server Express with a named instance 'SQLSERVER2'. I was able to connect to it and reference it in the management studio. There was a problem though with Visual Studio 9 when running an ASP.NET web application that required connecting to the same instance. So, I went into the configuration manager to change the security level of the instance from network to local service. The change went through but could not restart the instance. That is what has created my next round of problems. I can't go in and change it back to network because the instance is permanently stopped. I cannot start it with the services manager. How can I fix this?

    Hi,
    This problem can occur if the new Service Account does not have a profile on the machine. To resolve the issue connect to the SQL Server machine using the New Service account. This will create a profile for the user.
    SQL Server creates a self-generated certificate if a certificate is not explicitly specified and/or is not installed. This information is saved in the profile for the SQL Server service account. If the profile has not been created then SQL cannot register the self-generated certificate.
    If there are any more questions, please let me know.
    Thanks.

    What 'New Service account' are you referring to? SQL Server Express resides on my PC where I'm logged on as administrator. I don't know what you mean by connecting to the server. I only know about connecting to the database instance which is the root of the this problem because it can't be started. Sorry for my confusion...

    Hi!
    I am getting the same error that you mentions in your post, we could not start BPEL Process Manager and OC4J_BPEL. We just get the following error:
    An error occurred while starting "OC4J_BPEL".
    OraBPEL : OC4J_BPEL - time out while waiting for a managed process to start
    For more information, look at the logs using the related link below.
    Related Link Error Logs
    This happened after I tested one of my processes with heavy traffic. Many processes started at a short time.
    I have checked the logs but they doesnt make any sense to me. Have you manage to fix the problem? How did you solve it? I really could need some help with this...

    My application was running well. But since last two days oc4j instance is not starting up.

    A flash comes when i click start oc4j instance. Even i m not able to read the messages coming on the screen & the oc4j window is closed.
    My report server is not starting. I have tried to make report server up too thru naming service.
    Kindly help it is urgent.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Swati

    Have you installed any new software or OS updates lately? It sounds like your OS can't find Java any more because your computer's environment settings have been modified or perhaps Java was uninstalled. A quick test of Java is to open a Command Window (CMD) and type "Java -version" (without the quotes). If you get an error this indicates that your PATH environment variable no longer includes the directory where Java is installed. You may only need to clean up the PATH environment setting to get things working again, or you may need to reinstall Java.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • How to start oc4j instance in linux

    I need the oracle report server to generate reports via the call from JSP.
    But the response contains no data. But i think that the problem is that the oc4j instance is not started or the port number i am using in the URL is wrong.
    I have two questions in my mind.
    1) How to start the oc4j instance in linux
    2) How to find the port number of the oracle report server. will it be stored in any files.
    Pls provide some inputs on this query.

    Hello,
    1) How to start the oc4j instance in linuxYou have not specified what version, so for standalone you can use the following command:
    java -jar oc4j.jar
    In 10.1.3 you need to use the oc4j.cmd/oc4j.sh file to start and stop OC4J.
    If you are using the Application Server, then please use opmnctl start and stop the OC4J instance.
    2) How to find the port number of the oracle report server. will it be stored in any files.
    Please post this to the Reports forum.
    Hope this helps.

    Any thoughts on what I can do (without having to re-install the dialog instance) to fix this?

    Hi,
    I hope this helps you, my Basis team came up with the same problem. It is because of the JDBC driver that SR3 uses seems to be wrong. This is a slightly subtle problem and it took me a while to find.
    - Open configtool
    - Go to instance --> dispatcher --> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
    - Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
    - Go to instance > server> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
    - Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
    On my system it was set to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\base.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\util.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqlserver.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\spy.jar which is the old school SQL Server driver.
    Once you have changed these settings, save, exit configtool and restart the whole cluster. It will then start.
    Regards,
    John

  • Multiple BC4J apps deployed in single 9iAS OC4J instance

    Deploying my BC4J/UIX applications in a single Oracle 9iAS 9.0.2 OC4J instance, causes some of my applications not to find their BC4J configurations. After restarting the OC4J instance some applications start to find the configurations, while some lose the ability arbitrarily. When I deploy each of them in a different OC4J instance, then everything works fine.
    The problem appears also at my client's site. My client has all the latest patches applied to the 9iAS server and they can't afford upgrading to 10g or running every application in separate OC4J instance.
    The BC4J/UIX applications are developed with JDev 9.0.3.4. and the BC4J and UIX libraries of the application server are updated to the versions of JDev 9.0.3.4. My development Oracle9iAS runs on Windows 2000 and my client has it on Sun Solaris.

  • 10g database fails to start after 3rd reboot

    Hi,
    I've reloaded my test server several times and loaded 10g with the default "orcl" database. Works just fine, reboot a couple times and it still works. Around the 3rd reboot the database instance fails to start. I even have to reload the OS to clear this problem. Just uninstalling Oracle and reinstalling will not clear this problem I have to reload the OS. Is there some sort of limit on the software we download from the OTN download area?
    Thanks.

    I found in another post that suggested I needed to update my listener.ora file. I did that and the error went to telling me that oracle was unavailable. Then I found a post that suggested this:
    Set oracle_sid=orcl
    SQLPLUS /NOLOG
    CONN SYS/????@orcl AS SYSDBA
    STARTUP
    EXIT
    Ran this and sure enough, the database was ok but sitting idle. It went through some initialization steps and mounted so I can now launch the manager tool and have access to my database.
    So, ok, this is running on VMware and that "might" be causing the problems but this is very strange since it survived three reboots then out of the blue this issue comes up. I can live with running a batch file everytime I reboot in my little test environment so I'm ok :]
    Thanks for your time.
