XDK 9i for PL/SQL

Hi,
I try to use procedure xmlparser.parseDTDBuffer in my program.
But I've got the error:
ORA-29531: no method parseDTDBuffer in class ...XMLParserCover
Why doesn't it work? Where is the problem?
Thanks,
Serguei Nazarov

I'm sorry, my question wasn't crystal clear: I'd like to use the "XDK 9i Production Release" on a Oracle 8.1.7 / True64 Platform, .. which should be possible:
"The Oracle9i versions of the XDK can be used to build applications designed to interface with Oracle8i databases. This extends to loading the XDK for Java components in the the Oracle8i JVM." (http://otn.oracle.com/tech/xml/xdk_plsql/content.html)
Now, do I get official support for such a configuration?
Thanks again for replies.
Tobias

    Hello,
Is XDK for PL/SQL exists in current version of XDK 10g?
What are the plans of Oracle about PL/SQL support for XML?

XDK for PL/SQL is not supported for XDK 10g.
XDK for PL/SQL is supported for XDK 9i.

  • XDK for PL/SQL vs XDK for Java

    Hi ,
I am trying to find what version of XDK and whether it is for java or PL/SQL. I am confused after what I saw in our environment. Please clarify..
When I run the getReleaseVersion() and do a
    select xmlversion from dual,
    I get
    Oracle XDK Java 9.0.1.1.0A Production
Does this mean we have XDK for Java? not for PL/SQL?
    I also see PL/SQL packages for XMLDOM,XMLGEN.XMLPARSER,XSLPROCESSOR,DBMS_XMLQUERY,DBMS_XMLSAVE.
Does this mean I have/not XDK for PL/SQL??
    Please clarify.

XDK for PL/SQL is built based on XDK for Java. So that's why you got the result. It should also reflect the version you use.

  • XDK for PL/SQL and XML Parser for PL/SQL

Is there a difference between the terms:
    XDK for PL/SQL
    and
    XML Parser for PL/SQL V2
or are they the same thing...?
    cheers,

XDK stands for XML Developer's Kit. There are Oracle XDKs for Java, C, C++, and PL/SQL. These development kits contain building blocks for reading, manipulating, transforming, and viewing XML documents.
XML Parser is one component of XDK. Other components of XDK are
XSLT Processor, XSU, XSQL Servlet, XML Class Generator, etc.

  • Loading XML parser for PL/SQL

Was it definitely xmlparsev2.jar that you had to load?
I recently started going through some of these examples as well and found that the standard xml parser was there but that I needed to load the xml parser for PL/SQL. I did this using loadjava from a subdirectory within the xdk directory and everything worked fine.

  • Using XML Parser for PL/SQL in 8.1.7

The XML Parser for PL/SQL is part of 8.1.7,
    which is a good thing.
Now my question: What steps do I need to
perfom after installation of 8.1.7 to make
the parser available for my PL/SQL packages,
    which call
    xmldom.makeNode()
    xmldom.appendChild()
    xmlparser.newParser()
and other procedures from these packages ?
The schema SYS does not contain the
    required packages XMLDOM, XMLPARSER, ...
    after installation of 8.1.7.
Do I have to call loadjava and
sqlplus @load.sql extra as in 8.1.5 and
    8.1.6 before ?
Of course I'd like to use the natively
    compiled XML parser
    libjox8_oraclexml_parser_v2.so.
Doesn't the above loadjava override the
installation of this fast parser ?
How can I be safe, that I am using the fast
parser under the PL/SQL cover ?
    Tnx for your help
    Richard

    Richard,
That's weird? The packages were installed when I installed 8.1.7. You can just download the latest version of the XDK and reinstall using loadjava and then running the load.sql file to get the packages in. You should use the -f parameter for loadjava to force the new classes to be loaded over the old ones. For code examples and lots of other good tips on using the XDK, check out my new website for everything Oracle and XML at: www.webspedite.com/oracle.

  • ANN: New XDK release for 9.0.2B and 9.0.1.1.0A available

New XDK Releases for 9.0.2B Beta Version and 9.0.1.1.0A Procudtion Version are online at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/xdkhome.html
    What's new:
    - Oracle9i XDK for C and C++ released on Linux
    - Oracle TransX Utility Aids loading data and text. These release is part of the XDK for Java 9.0.2 Beta.
    - Oracle SOAP APIs added to the XDK for Java
Support for the SOAP services have been added to the XDK for Java 9.0.1.1.0A Production.
    - XML Schema Processor for Java supports both LAX Mode and STRICT Mode Validation
The XML Schema Processor for Java now supports both LAX Mode and STRICT
Mode Validation. Compared with STRICT Mode where every element from the root on down is required to be defined and validated, LAX Mode Schema validation provides developers the ability to limit the XML Schema
validation to the subsections of the XML document.
This will simplify XML Schema definitions and the validation process by skipping the ignorable content. Furthermore, with LAX mode, developers can divide their XML documents into small fragments and carry out the XML Schema validation in a parallel or progressive way. This results, in a much more flexible and productive schema validation process.
    - SAX2 Extension support in the Java XML Parser
The XML Parser for Java now supports two new handlers - LexicalHandler and DeclHandler.
XML documents now can be parsed through Oracle XML Parser SAX APIs with full access
to the DTD declarations and the lexical items like comments and CDATA sections.
This ensures that the complete content model is preserved.
    - JAXP 1.1 supports is now added to the XDK for Java
    - New Differ Bean in the XDK for JavaBeans
A new bean has been added the the JavaBean XDK which analyses the differences between to XML documents and outputs the XSL sytlesheet that will convert one into the
other. This is extremely useful when converting an XML document retrieved from a SQL query into an xHTML page on the web.
Stylesheets can now be automaticly created for use in XSQL pages.
    - XML Compression now supported in the Java XML Parser
Now developers can take advantage of a compressed XML stream when serializing their DOM and SAX outputs. This new functionality significantly reduces the size without losing any information. Both DOM and SAX compressed streams are fully compatible and the SAX stream can be used to generate a
corresponding DOM tree. These compressed streams can also be stored in Oracle as a CLOB for efficient storage and retrieval.

    bump up for east cost.

  • XDK10g supports XML parsing for PL/SQL?

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions here:
    1) Does XDK10g support XML parsing for PL/SQL? (More specifically, I need to use xmlDom and xmlParser)
    2) Does Oracle 10g come installed with XDK 10g? If not, does it even need to install XDK 10g to use xmlDom and xmlParser?
Thank you all and have a nice day.
    Kelvin
    Edited by: user9518458 on Oct 30, 2008 1:31 AM

Well, if you are talking 10.2, then
"The (Java-based) Oracle XDK PL/SQL packages XMLDOM, XMLPARSER, and XSL_PROCESSOR have been deprecated in favor of the (C-based) Oracle XML DB packages DBMS_XMLDOM, DBMS_XMLPARSER, and DBMX_XSLPROCESSOR. Synonyms have been provided to smooth the migration of legacy applications" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/whatsnew.htm#CHDCAICE)
Whether that is a default install option or one that requires selecting I can't say, but it is available without needing to additionally use the XDK. So odds are you can do whatever you need in PL/SQL using those DBMS_ packages (or XMLTYPE based variables if the need arises).

    Ramesh,
Have you referred to the samples provided in the 8.1.7 doc section at :
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/appdev.817/a86030/adx24pap.htm
In the above page, the link, "Using XML Parser for PL/SQL Examples in sample/" has sample code on using the
xmlparser, xmldom and xslprocessor packages. These samples are provided as demos with the XDK s/w that
normally gets installed in your ORACLE817_HOME/xdk directory.
    Hope that helps.

  • Installation of XML parser for PL/SQL, and XML_SQL

I have just migrated a 7.3.4.4 database to 8.1.7. Please could you tell me what I need to install (and where I would find the software and installation instructions) so that we can use the XML parser for PL/SQL and also XML_SQL. (NB Do I need to install java - and if so, again where would I find the installation software and instructions). Many Thanks.

The XML Parser for Java comes preinstalled, as does the XML SQL utility.
Assuming your 8.1.7 Oracle home is represented by ?, you need to:
    [list=1]
    [*]cd ?/xdk/lib
    [*]loadjava -v -r -u user/password xmlplsql.jar
    [*]cd ?/xdk/plsql/parser/bin
    [*]sqlplus user/password @load

  • Using an NDS statement for a SQL stament run only once in a proceudure

    Hi,
    We're using Oracle 11.1.0.7.0.
I'm going through code written by someone else. In this package they're using NDS for every SQL call whether it gets called multiple times or just once. Is that a good thing?
I thought NDS was only reserved for SQL statements that get called over and over again in a procedure with possible varying 'WHERE clause' variables and so on...
Is there ANY benefit to using NDS for SQL queries called only once in a procedure?
    Thanks

There is no benefit unless you want to turn PL/SQL into SQL*Plus (parse once, run once)
Procedures exist to make sure : parse at compile time, run many times.
The code is shooting itself in its own foot.
Or the developer must have got hold of Tom Kyte's unpublished one chapter book 'How to write unscalable applications'.

    2) Technology FILE -
        Data Server - FILE_GENERIC
        Physical Schema - FILE_GENERIC.E:/oracle/Middleware/Oracle_ODI1/oracledi/demo/file
        Logical Schema - FILE_DEMO_SRC
    3) Technology - XML
         Data Server - XML FILE
         Physical Schema - GEO_D
        Logical Schema - GEO_DIM
    4) Technology - Hypersonic SQL
Data Server - HSQL   (Is this the correct name or some other name is recommended ? )
         Physical Schema - HSQL_LOCALHOST_20001_Default and HSQL_LOCALHOST_20001_Default
        Logical Schema - HSQL_DEMO_SRC and HSQL_DEMO_TARG
All the Mappings are done properly using Development & Production context for Physical and Logical Schemas.
I am able to create the Models for Oracle, FIle and XML with successful Reverse Engineering (standard with development context )
with all the data displayed correctly.
    The issue starts here
The Main issue is for Hypersonic SQL where I am not able to get the Reverse Engineering.
Technology - Hypersonic SQL  I have defined the data server as HSQL
Is this correct data server or some other name for data server is suggested ?
I am able to start the startdemo.bat file successfully opening the 3 dos prompt windows as
    a) Oracle DI Demo - Repository Server
    b) Oracle DI Demo - Source Server
    c) Oracle DI Demo - Target Server
Later I make  entries on the JDBC tab od HSQL - Data Server as
    JDBC Driver : org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCDriver
    JDBC Url : jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost
Test Connection - ok with successful connection.
Prior to this I already run the script created schemas and inserted data to the SRC_ tables in my 10g Database as
    ORDERS - containing the Tables as SRC_CITY, SRC_CUSTOMER, SRC_PRODUCT, SRC_REGION.....
In the Designer I create a new Model as HSQL_SRC
    Technology - Hypersonic SQL
Logical Schema - HSQL_DEMO_SRC as defined earlier in logical schema.
Reverse Engineer Tab - Selected as Standard   Context selected as Development from drop down list.
When I right click on HSQL_SRC model for reverse engineer, it executes, however it does not display any tables inserted
    as shown for ORDERS Schema.
Please correct me where I am wrong in giving the name for data server ? or some other place.
    Thanks
    Ajaz

    Hi,
    according to docs
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/integrate.1111/e12644/hypersonic_sql.htm#ODIKM590
    i see
    JDBC Driver: org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver
    JDBC URL: jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://<host>:<port>
    could you modify
    JDBC Driver : org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCDriver
    JDBC Url : jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost
    according to docs?
    Thanks
