Xdodelivery.cfg Changes - Server restarts required?

I am currently using Oracle eBusiness 12.1.3 (XML Publisher 5.6.3)
I have changed some settings in the xdodelivery.cfg file located under $XDO_TOP/resource.
I have bounced the application server but the entries in the xdo.log files I am generating still reflect the previous xdodelivery.cfg file settings.
Is there some other server that needs to be restarted in order for the new settings to take affect. The settings seems to be cached somewhere other than on the Application server.
Thanks

Hi Vinay,
You'll have some reassurance in at least that I had the same problem with a R12 upgrade with Separate Remittance Advice. Unfortunately, I was not able to remain on the client site long enough to solve this, although I do have the following to offer, even if its not a solution:
1) The xdodelivery.cfg file for one of our clients where this does work is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<config xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/delivery/config">
<servers>
<server name="mysmtp1" type="smtp_email" default="true">
<host>r12p660.<company_name>.co.uk</host>
<port>25</port>
</server>
</servers>
<properties>
<property name="ds-temp-dir">/usr/tmp/PROD</property>
<property name="ds-buffering">true</property>
<property name="SMTP_CONTENT_TYPE:String">"application/pdf"</property>
</properties>
</config>
2) I note in the error the the SMTP sever is null. In my example setup the local host (e.g KWDMXV41). The XML file may be in $INST_TOP/appl/admin and will be called <ORACLE_SID>_KWDMXV41.xml
3) You have the following error in the stack: "oracle.apps.xdo.delivery.MissingRequiredPropertyException: Required property missing. Property name :HOST". This may imply that either the host is not defined in some profile option or the host is not being recognised by the program. Is this a multi-tier system, is there an entry in the /etc/hosts file?
I hope that may be so some help.
Thanks,
Mark

  • Why WSUS installation on WS2012 R2 fails with message indicating server restart required?

    Dear all,
    I've trying to install WSUS server role on WS 2012 R2 standard. Server is domain joined, and local SQL server (SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP3) installed. This SQL server is to host the WSUS database.
    WS 2012 R2 is fully patched. Nothing else is installed on this server except SQL server mentioned above. I initiate WSUS role installation, specify that WIS is not required, rather WSUS database is required, database connection to locally installed SQL server
    is established; which succeeds without any problem, but when wizard starts WSUS role installation it continues to fail over and over. It indicates in server manager task view that role installation failed because the server require restart.
    I restarted server several times, repeated the process but this continues to behave like this.
    Why WSUS installation on server fails repeatedly?
    Why log should be examined or any other dependency is missing here?
    Please advise.
    Regards,

    Hello Steven,
    Thanks for the input, in fact I did mention server name to pick SQL server instance from, since the only instance configured is default instance locally on the server where I'm trying to install WSUS on.
    When Add Roles/Features selection wizard gets to WSUS configuration; it asks for location where updates will be stored, next it asks to connect to SQL server to use for SUS database; that's where I specify local server's host name (in my case HQCAS) and
    click "Check connection" this succeeds without any error.
    All these steps proceed without any problem, but later on, WSUS role installation fails. I also checked CBS.log file; but it didn't give any specific clues? The only message I receive is that role installation requires server restart.
    I reboot server; start all over, but the behavior remains the same. Since WSUS role did not get install in the first place, it won't be possible to check event viewer for WSUS related events. Moreover...wsusutil.exe tool will also be not available until
    after successful install.
    I couldn't reach any post deployment. Had a look at that link you forwarded, the
    update mentioned in below area also doesn't apply since I specify the local server's host name and then click "Check connection". This steps goes without any error.  Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • What type of changes require server restart?

    Hi,
    We are trying to minimize downtime for applications and re-design our deployment process. One of the questions is what type of changes require weblogic restart and which would require only re-deployment of application server.
    Is there a document which would detail actions required by type of changes in config?
    Sohail

    Hi,
    There are basically two types of changes we can make in WLS...
    *1). Dynamic Changes:* It means the Changes which doesnt requires Server Restart. Like Updating/deploying/undeploying applications. Creating DataSources, Creating Users in SecurityRealms, Configuring WorkManagers.
    *2). Non-Dynamic Changes:* These are the Changes which requires Server Restart ... sothat the changes can take affect. Like: Activating another SecurityRealm as Default realm, Changing cluster Multicast Address, Configuring Startup/Shutdown classes, Changinf ClassPath or Java_options from AdminConsole for ManagedServers using ServerStart Tab, Adding/Removing Managed Servers from Machine...etc.
    There is not such link available which lists all the Non-Dynamic & Dynamic Changes. Even AdminConsole also displays sometimes Wrong Message ...sometimes for few Non-Dynamic Changes as well it says "No Restart Required" But actually we had to start it.

  • How often should the SMP server get restarted? Cockpit message "Restart Required!"

    How often should I restart the SAP Mobile Platform server? I have received a message in the SMP Management Cockpit that states "Restart Required!".

    Hi Darrel,
    Batish is right there is no need to restart server unless you change specific settings that need a restart. Ex. cache settings. You can find an "i" symbol next to these fields which need a restart if you change these values.
    Also server restart is needed if you change any config files ex. admin-role-mapping.xml.
    Are you able to reproduce this issue. Could you give a screen shot of this issue. What is the version of server?

  • Lync mobile - server settings have changes please restart

    Hi,
    I have an issue within my current deployment. Mobile clients keep getting the message "Your Server configuration has changed, please restart lync." every 5-15 mins.
    From my reading so far its suggested that changing the TTL on the IIS reverse proxy from 200 to 600/960 solves the issue. This hasn't worked for me.
    Has anyone else had a similar issue and know of another fix or change that may be required?

  • JNDI - rebind required after server restart

    We are using a third party JMS Provider (we have to use this provider implementation as opposed to WLS Provider), which requires a JNDI implementation. We can use the Sun File JNDI implementation, but seeing as WLS is in the environment, binding the JNDI names into WLS seemed the natural thing to do. This works great, except that we have to bind after each server start up (as the WLS JNDI naming is not persistent across server restart).
    I was wondering if anyone had any 'neat' tricks or ideas around this, aside from startup class.

    JMS has a ForeignJMSProvider config option to do this I believe. 9.0 will also support this more generally.

  • Portlet:namespace val changes on server restart. How to keep it constant?

    Hi -
    I want to generate WinRunner test script, and want to know the IDs of a couple of UI components on a JSF JSP.
    But JSF prefixes each component id with <portlet:namespace/> value. So, I tried to prefix the same value (got it using view source of the actual screen to test) to the components in my test script.
    This works just fine, the way I want it to, but until the server is not restarted.
    Once the server is restarted the value of the <portlet:namespace/> changes (for the same view in same jsp), thus my test script doesn't work.
    Is this expected behavior that for the same view in jsp, the value of <portlet:namespace/> changes after server restart?
    Is there a way to keep the value of <portlet:namespace/> constant for the same view even after server restart?
    Expecting prompt feedback and will highly appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Gagan

    The problem is still there if the jsp file is about inserting a new record
    into the database.
    If these parameters are gotten from the session, mutliple insertings will be
    attempted when the portlet is refresh.
    Maybe we can put some control flags in the session to judge the correct
    behavior, but the method results the session full of parameters(control
    flags).
    Or is there any better design?

    Alan,
    You could use the session to put your parameters in instead of letting itride completely
    on the request object. Although, your question is more than just makingthe content
    reappear, it’s about holding state. The project that I am working on, theusers
    decided that they want the page portlets to go back to the "normal" state,not the
    "Maximized" view. So, I put a processor in between the internal.refreshwildcard
    and the Preprocessor input processor so that all the portlets would beseen in their
    "normal" state.
    Good Luck

    Hi All,
    When I click page tabs in WLP, it will trigger a refresh event.
    The portlet has a webflow with a refresh event whose destination is
    lastContentUrl(referent-namespace is portal, cloned from portlet2.wf).
    The question is when the page changed, the jsp files which use
    request.getParameter() to get parameters will fail to fulfill what they
    need because the event provide none parameter.
    So that everytime page changed, these portlets will have quite strange
    contents.
    How to keep these content constant when page changed?

    Really would help to know what operating system you are using...
    When you set up the disks for use with ASM, did you stamp them with ASMLIB? If not, did you configure device persistance with udev? Without using one of these methods, the disk identification can change when a node is restarted, and ASM is then unable to locate the disks.

  • Application server restarts

    Hi,
    Whenever a change is made to OAF application, the E-Business appserver needs to be restarted. This creates problem because from the perspective of business users this is a downtime however small the downtime may be.
    Even for profile changes to take effect, the app server has to be restarted.
    Is there any methods or techniques like server architecture that would avoid or
    circumvent the need to restart appserver whenever a small thing is changed in OAF? Or if this is not possible any other mechanism by which we can keep the users not kicked off of the system?
    Your thoughts on this would be helpful.
    Regards,
    Arun

    Arun,
    A server restart is not required always. It depends on a case to case basis. For the case that you've mentioned (i.e. profile changes), it is not required as the DB invalidation should take care of reflecting the changes to all the middle-tiers. Please check if this patch is available and cache invalidation is working in your system.
    If there are any other cases, do let us know.

  • OSB Server restart

    Hello,
    I made some changes to WSDLs and Service using OSB web console in Admin server. The Admin Server has two managed servers.
    When I activated the changes, it says "Server(s) require restart before session can be activated."
    Similar action I performed in other env got immediate effect without prompting for server restart.
    Could you please tell me what are the cases that server(s) restart are required when changes are made via osb console.
    Thanks

    You would get that message in Service Bus Console if you made any non-dynamic configuration changes earlier through Weblogic Console and didn't restart the server. The reason for this behavior is as follows:
    Changes to non-dynamic configuration attributes require that the affected servers or system resources be restarted before they become effective. If a change is made to a non-dynamic configuration setting (For exampl, certain JMS configuration modification), no changes to dynamic configuration settings will take effect until after restart. This is to assure that a batch of updates having a combination of dynamic and non-dynamic attribute edits will not be partially activated.
    For details, please refer to Weblogic Administration guide in the link below and look at the section for dynamic and non-dynamic changes.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/intro/console.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Updating policies and Policy Database or Policy Updates without server restart

    Hi again,
    I have implemented the flash access reference implementation server including setting up all example database tables (so we have a central database server).  I have started updating policies for the application "whitelist" features and have run into some questions below.
    The Protecting Content documentation states:
              "If your license server has access to a database for storing policies, you can retrieve the updated policy from the database and call LicenseRequestMessage.setSelectedPolicy()"
    This leads to two questions:
    1)  The reference implementation doesn't store any Policies in the database (it stores them on the filesystem in the Resources Directory).     I can not find any documentation or examples of how to "retrieve the updated policy from the database".     Can somebody please point me to an example or documentation on how to store policies in the database so I can simply LicenseRequestMessage.setSelectedPolicy()?
    2)  As the reference implementation stores policies on the disk I had to use policy update lists when I whitelisted an AIR app.     However, the reference server did not honor the policy update list till I restarted the flash access reference server.      How can I notify the flash access server of the change to the update policy list without restarting the server?
    Thank you,
    -R

    Hello,
    Please see my answers below.
    Answer 1>
    If you want to store the binary representation of the policy in the database, you can invoke Policy.getBytes() and store the returned byte[] as a blob in the database. For details on how to store such binary data in a database, you should consult the documentation for you database. Then, to rebuild a policy that had been stored in a database, you can obtain the byte[] stored in the database, and invoke new Policy(byte[]) with it to reconstruct that policy instance.
    See the following javadocs:
          * Retrieves an encoded byte array representation of the policy.
          * <p>If this <code>Policy</code> was created from an empty constructor, the revision number
          * will be <code>1</code>.  If this was an existing policy and changes were made to the policy,
           * the revision number will be incremented by one. Otherwise, the revision number will not change.</p>
          * <p>The validity of the policy is first checked before encoding into a byte array.  Encoding will fail
          * if {@link #checkValidity()} throws an exception.</p>
           * @return A serialized representation of the policy.
          * @throws PolicyModificationException The <code>Policy</code> cannot be serialized because it was created with a newer version and was modified.
          * @throws PolicyException The <code>Policy</code> is missing required fields or contains conflicting entries.
          * @throws EncodingException Unable to encode the <code>Policy</code> to a byte array.
          public byte[] getBytes() throws PolicyException, EncodingException;
          * This constructor parses an existing policy from the given byte array.
           * @param policy The policy from which to construct this <code>Policy</code>.
          * @throws EncodingException Unable to parse the byte array into a <code>Policy</code>.
          * @throws PolicyException The <code>Policy</code> is missing required fields or contains conflicting entries.
          public Policy( byte[] policy ) throws PolicyException, EncodingException;
    Answer 2>
    In order to implement automatic configuration updates of policy update lists on the flash access server, you will need to tweak the Reference Implementation code, to monitor the file update state and re-load the PolicyUpdateList if it changes. The code snippet below, taken from the com.adobe.flashaccess.refimpl.util.ParamsReader.buildHandlerConfiguration() method, should serve as an example of how the PolicyUpdateList is loaded and then set on the HandlerConfiguration instance for it to take effect for a particular license acquisition request. In the case of the reference implementation, this code (below) is only invoked once, during server initialization. That is why a server restart is necessary for subsequent changes to take effect. However, nothing prevents this code form being invoked elsewhere, and that implementation is entirely upto the customer, to achieve the desired outcome.
          PolicyUpdateList pul = PolicyUpdateListFactory.loadPolicyUpdateList(pulInputStream);
          if (pul != null)
                X509Certificate issuerCert = null;
                if (hsmEnabled)
                      issuerCert = getHSMCertificate(props, hsmUtils, "RevocationList.verifySignature.X509Certificate");
                else
