XE release 11.2.0.2.0 on Win 7 64

I installed XE release 11.2.0.2.0 on a Win 7 64 machine. I have created a test environment and I was able to log into apex and start my training. I tried to log in using the 'connect' command within the 'Run SQL Command Line' window using first my SYSTEM username/password config and my test environment login credentials. All received the ORA-12154 error. After some research online, I think the tnsnames.ora file and an inability for oracle XE to handle parenthesis () within the file name may be the issue. Not sure, but I would like to run my test environment through both the browser GUI and the command line to practive. Any thoughts?
My tnsnames.ora file was located here: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\network\ADMIN
The contents of the file is as follows:
XE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Office-PC)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = XE)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(CONNECT_DATA =

(PRESENTATION = RO)
ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =

Post a copy-paste of sql command line session when trying to connect.
You don't happen to have a @ sign in the password?
Example from successful 'connect':

  • Web Dynpro Dialog Box / Modal Window is not working properly on firefox

    Hi All,
    We are having problems with Web Dynpro Dialog Box / Modal Window in Firefox.  Dialog Box / Modal window won't show up properly on. They look like transparent windows. Our server is Netweaver 7.0 SP 19.
    Same code is working fine in Internet Explorer. Please advise on this. Below is the code I am using.
    Modal Window:
    IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("SomeWindow");
    IWDWindow sampleWindow = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createModalWindow(windowInfo);
    sampleWindow .show();
    Confirmation Dialog Box:
    IWDWindow dialogBox = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createConfirmationWindow(
    "Click OK to save data", IPrivateSampleView.WD_EVENTHANDLER_ON_ACTION_SAVADATA, "OK");
    dialogBox.show();
    Thanks

  • Can I run adobe master collection in a windows partition on a basic mbp 13" with only the intel chipset?

    can I run adobe master collection in a windows partition on a basic mbp 13" with only the intel chipset?
    I want to install 16 gb ram but I don't think I can change the lack of video card. I wanted this basic machine because it has fairly long battery life. I don't need or want retina at this time. My model is the mid 2012 model. I am running the adobe collection for mac, I want to run the windows versions. Is it possible? What is the most ram I could access using something like fusion 5, assuming I could get fusion 5 to work? would it refuse to run because of the intel chipset and lack of video card?
    If I'm wrong and there is a way to add a video card to this model, could some version of fusion and windows 7 access more than 2 gb operating ram?
    What  cost would I be incurring, and would it be cheaper to buy a windows laptop with more ram than I could access via a virtual machine?
    I want to work on a client's work in the windows versions of the creative suite, with occasional usage of after effects for windows, and to use some web plug-ins only available in windows versions, and to try some windows-only video and audio software.
    thanks for any suggestions. While many people have told me I can run everything on my macbook, I am concerned about what I think is a limited amount of ram that can be accessed over the virtual machine partition softwares, and I don't know if what I want to attempt is actually possible.
    My mbp os is 10.8.2 on a 2.5 GHz intel core i5 4 gb 1600MHz DDR3 with 500 hard drive. the basic 13" mid 2012 machine.
    I'm hoping to install 16 G of opertating ram to allow more adobe programs to run concurrently- just when I am working on the mac side.
    also, off track but, for years I have wanted a small  machine that is more easily portable than my 15" machines. I have only had this used machine for a few weeks, but already I have been very satisfied and used it for presentations at clients. I don't want an air because I really want the dvd burner and player. No matter what apple says about wireless, there are decades of legacy work stored on optical discs all over the world, and I don't want to be unable to open something at a client's office because I don't have a dvd drive. Additionally, I have very large files I want to transfer via ethernet or firewire so that the transfer will take less time and be more secure than wifi. I resist apple's trend to make every machine a disposable toy that is viable only a year or so. I have read reviews that label the mbp it a poor value compared to the air. If all you need to do is text and communicate via wifi, many devices will sufice, and an air is certainly the most elegant. But what about the cost of large ssd's and protecting the drive against damage from shock? I want to be able to move this thing around and the small size is much safer inside my padded bag when I sit in narrow airplane seats, crowded trains and other congested spaces. I am much more likely to be able to borrow a large screen in a client's office ( with the use of one of the three adapters I had to buy) than to be able to borrow a dvd drive that has drivers for mac os 10.8.2. I suspect this may be the last generation of machines that have optical drives and ethernet, and that was why I purchased it so that I could continue to do work into the next few years. I am impressed by the retina display, but I need long battery life. And as beautiful as the retina display is, it is even more of a problem when trying to cross platform with the windows world. I wish I could infuence apple to do a trial product flow for a machine designed to work with 80% of the business world that uses windows. How spectacular that would be. With all their expertise and adept hardware design, to create a machine that cross platforms better than a windows machine itself works? Now that would be an accomplishment.  Instead of 8 or 9 percent of the total computer sales, why not aim for a higher percentage? Smart devices will keep moving toward portable computers in power, anyway.

    Fusion should work on your machine and if you put 16 GB of RAM in (see http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_160 0MHz_SDRAM), Fusion can access a good portion of that. Also, in a Virtual Machine, the guest OS is presented with Fusion's video card emulation, not what's in hardware on your Mac. Of course, finding Windows 7 now that Win 8 has been released could take some doing and the Win 8 Pro upgrade price is supposed to jump to $200 the end of the month. Add that to the price of Fusion and the extra RAM and you're beginning to get into the realm of low end real PC's.
    As to cross platform, I assume you're aware of BootCamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461).

  • I can't reinstall Windows Xp pro SP3 from installation disk on my IBM Thinkpad T40

    Dear folk,
    I have bought used IBM Thinkpad t40 in Germany.
    It has Windows XP in German, wich works well but it makes some dificulties while I am using some functions.
    I decided to reinstall Windows XP Pro in English.
    My Windows XP Pro CD instructed me to install XP from BIOS.
    This is how it works.
    I got to BIOS by clicking blue button "IBM acsess".
    I have got to BIOS released in 15/05/2003.
    My Win XP Pro CD instructed me to press Delete to boot Cd-Rom and run Win XP installator.
    Meanwhile, pressing "Delete" button did not produce any effect.
    I got to Start up menu in BIOS, then I tried to run CD-Rom to run Windows XP from my installation CD.
    But it has not produce any effect.
    System stayed still.
    As result, I can not install Windows XP English version.
    Please, hint me how can I reistall Windows XP English on my notebook.
    May be something with old BIOS version and I has to update it?
    Should I use other menu in BIOS for installation (actually I used all of them)?
    Or anything else? Please, advice.
    Or I has to learn German? )))
    Looking forward for any help.
    Cheers
    Vittor

    Hi and welcome..
    leave short your german XP on your T40 ... you need it to update BIOS..
    first i prefer to update your BIOS ... Download this T40 BIOS
    Version: 1RETDRWW (3.23) Release Date: 2007/07/03
    you see this is abit newer ... follow the instructions to update...if update is successfull...you can go in BIOS
    look at tab startup ... change startup sequence so that DVD/CD Drive is on first place and usb-device on second and HDD on third you can move this via F5 / F6.. exit and save with F10 ...
    Download all drivers that you need from this page and save them on extra USB Stick or external HDD...you will need this to complete your install after XP is fresh installed
    T40 Driver Table
    Insert your English XP with SP3 in DVD/CD Drive and restart...
    if a message comes press space to install from CD ...
    follow the instructions.. delete (format drive C: where the german XP is ... and install XP in english..
    when installation process is done... look at device manager you see many yellow questionmarks ..no installed drivers... Now use the pre-downloaded drivers from external HDD/USB Device... keep in mind that drivers are compressed when clicking on that the driver first deflates to c:\drivers\win\ [foldername]... sometimes you have to go in the correct folder and start setup to install it for real...
    or you can install TVSU ThinkVantageSystemUpdater:
    TVSU
    that helps you .. but in that case you have to install Wireless or Cable Network first...
    i dont prefer this because at this time you dont have a antivirus program ..
    a small and good advice is AntiVir you can freewareversion download here
    Free Antivir English
    So good luck ...with fresh "english XP" on your T40...
    sincerely KalvinKlein

  • PhotoShop CS2 and PDF Presets question.

    Hello,
    I have installed the recent free release of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my Win 8.1 PC.
    I am creating the artwork for a CD Cover, by using a CYMK template from CD-Baby.
    They require that the finished artwork be submitted to them in PDF format, using the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset.
    I found that Photoshop CS2 didn't come with this preset, but after searching the web, I came across this forum whereby a user posted a link to a "JobOptions" archive file at...
         http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16243351/joboptions.rar
    ... I downloaded this RAR file and found that there was a file inside called "x4;2008.joboptions"
    I installed this preset by the 'EDIT/Adobe PDF Presets/' route, and it seemed to successfully install the preset.
    (No errors at least).
    Now when I go to save my finished project as PDF, I am given the choice of...
    * [PDF/X-1a:2001]
    * [PDF/X-3:2002]
    * x4;2008
    (this is the exact description of each preset).
    My only question is, do you think the desired [PDF/X-4:2008] was correctly installed?,
    I'm not sure since the naming format is not exactly the same as the first 2 presets descriptions.
    Thank you.

    thanks for your reply  Mylenium.
    is it possible that this user preset might not exactly conform to the desired preset I'm after?
    is there any way I can get a genuine copy of the factory preset [PDF/X-4:2008]?
    thanks.

    Please suggest me what to do and how to rectify. Can we work with forms without this component. I am getting the same component failure when I install 9IAS option on infrastructure.
    With best regards and Thanks
    Varma.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the information. I installed 3 times but still the same problem persists. Apache is working fine. Hosts file also configured with the same system IP. Is this component important for executing 9i forms and reports. Is there any way to install this component alone.
    Can u suggest any good document about installation and configuration of Oracle 9i application for a layman in Oracle 9iAS. if you have any documents can u send them to [email protected]
    Waiting for your replay....
    With best regards

    so problem is not with the Oracle database but with Toad.
    So root cause & fix are external to Oracle.
    This problem is off topic for this forum & should be posted somewhere in TOAD-world

  • OTN Service Packages

    I have received the OTN Internet Server for Windows package, and while instaling the Oracle 8i Personal Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 for Win 98, the Oracle Universal Installer prompted a problem with the CD. The problem occured while instaling sys1risc.0.0.jar (Oracle Initial DataBase, as the OUI was showing). I tried to re-install it several times, using the different options for installation, but all without sucess. The Invoice Number is OTN-537 83913225 shipped thru UPS to Rafael Alves Rocha, in Brazil.
    My purchase order is number 158912 from 16th of April, 2001. My question is, what can you do for me?
    null

    I'm told that there are problems with the Universal Installer on the Server CD. The problems are being addressed. Meanwhile, you might want to use the Installer from the Client CD.
    I hope this helps,

    From November 2007 until about April 2011, I had 10.5 installed on the system. I reverted back to Tiger for certain reasons until this morning. I attempted to reinstall Leopard using the same discs used when I installed it back in 2007. However, this time I was told that Leopard could not be installed. This makes no sense.
    Is there a workaround to reinstall Leopard?
    Thanks in advance.

    Makes sense if Apple updated the firmware not to boot off the 10.5 disk, your should have been able to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5.
    I have had the same problem, also I've heard of others not being able to boot from their 10.5 disks anymore.
    You could go to 10.6, but Apple is going to deny OS X security updates for that version when 10.8 is released this summer, so you can't win there neither.
    Your machine can't run 10.7, so eithe stay on 10.4 or upgrade to 10.6 for $29, because the 10.5 disks are not sold and a fortune used.

  • TS1538 And what about Windows 8?

    I'm running Windows 8 on my PC and my new 5th generation iPod Touch is also not being recognised -- support?

    iTunes is not yet officially supported on Windows 8. People who have tried it anyway have reported mixed success, with synchronization of iOS devices being the most common function that fails. You may find suggestions if you search this forum for "windows 8", but full functionality may have to wait until Apple releases a version of iTunes that supports Win 8. That may come in the upcoming iTunes 11, but again it may not; Apple hasn't said.
    Regards.

  • Windows 7, Boot Camp version and Snow Leopard?

    Hi folks, I have a 2009 quad Mac and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. The questions I have are:
    Was the upgrade to Boot Camp 3 automatic?
    If not what do I need to do to upgrade that?
    How do I tell which version of Boot Camp I have?
    Is the update for Boot Camp yet ready for Win 7? I read that an announcement was made yesterday of an update, but not sure it was released.
    I wouldn't dare install Win 7 on my old XP PC Laptop, but I need to check web pages for my design work, and looks like Win 7 may become the standard as opposed to Vista on newer PCs.
    I am also running Parallels 4, don't know if updating bootcamp will mess up that install... or functionality.

    Okay, Boot Camp assistant, I get. I guess I was mistaken about the meaning of Boot Camp? When I boot into Windows on the installed XP system in my computer on its own partition, is Boot Camp involved in any way like an operating system or software platform foundation like DOS allowing Windows to operate, or is Boot Camp just for setting up a partition in the first place? I guess I'm wondering why Boot Camp Assistant 3 needs to be upgraded to allow the install Win 7, if I could just boot into Windows and run the upgrade in Windows? Does that make sense why I'm asking the questions?

  • Windows 8: AAM and DreamWeaver not working

    I am running Windows 8, and AAM Crashes on me during startup "Not Responding..." and Dreamweaver will not start. I have tried to uninstall, so I can try to do a reinstall but the Uninstaller Fails. Also tried to run the adobe cleaner but does not seem to do anything.
    I am Adminitrator on my computer and have also been trying to run them as admin and in compatibility mode.

    Are you using a bona fide release candidate of Win 8 or a beta release?  I ask only because AFAIK  Win 8 isn't supposed to be offered to the public until late Oct. 2012.
    Beta releases often have serious bugs.  Is there any chance that you can roll back to Win7?

  • Which products ... confused ...

    Hi,
    If I need an Oracle database, just for personal use in localhost,
    which product should I download, is it the Oracle9i Databse Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition
    for Win NT/2000/XP or Oracle9i Databse Release 2 Client for Win NT/2000/XP ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    i think it's a correct version to download, but it's huge.
    And the installation of Oracle 9i standard takes 2.8Go.
    Another thing, if you want to use develpment tools, you have to download oracle9iDS (development suite).
    But, i don't know if it's the right think to do.
    Maybe i need help too.
