XFA form with button to save file with unique filename

Is there a way to save a file with a unique filename using some data a user has entered (name, for ex.) that will fire when the user clicks a Print button? Attached is a file for reference.

I do get an alert when the PDF is saved. But if I modify the folder js to say var vPath = "/c/HSS/ instead of var vPath = "/c/HSSSave/ I don't get the alert "There was a problem." Do you see an error in the else condition?

I am setting up a form with a drop-down menu and a submit a form button that is supposed to email the form. My coworker opened it and filled it out and pressed submit and it replied "the file may be read-only or another user may have it open..." How can I get data from excel to populate a form with unique entries and distribute?

I would like to use Adobe LiveCycle to create a form, then use data from an excel spreadsheet to populate the form in a repetative fashion so that each person in the spreadsheet gets a populated form with only their applicable data on it.
Also, if there is a way to use a mail merge function, this would be helpful to know since each person is to receive their copy as an attachment through email.
Any help would be appreciated - have been researching for 2 days now how to do this and am at a loss.

The AssemblerResult.getJobLog() method will give you an XML file that contains the details of what went wrong. Most likely the issue is that the documents being assembled are not convertable to XDP format.

Exporting a multipage InDesign document to single page PDFs but with unique filenames using scripts

Hi,
I'm using InDesign 5.5.
My goal is to export a multipage InDesign file into single page PDFs but each single PDF must be uniquely named.
For example;
InDesignFileName_487275123.00.pdf
InDesignFileName_734876882.00.pdf
...and so on.
I've spent a great deal of time searching online and the closest I have found is software called Output Factory which works fine.
The way Output Factory works is by placing a script label within a textframe on the master page in InDesign. Then whatever is typed into the text frame on each the separate pages defines the file name of each separate page.
However if I can solve this problem without any investment costs my boss will be very happy
I found PEU5 which works great for exporting into single pages, it's now a case of naming each single PDF but I know nothing how about to create a script but I get the gist of what they do. My understanding is that a script could solve the second half of my problem.
Can anyone help?

How to create placeholder garphics with unique filenames shown as text?

There is already a Script for that. AddFileName and AddFileName Plus Date. If they are not in your Scripts folder alreagy, they are available on the Adobe Exchange I believe.

It looks that you have made changes to the appearance of button that cause items and text to be larger.
In your case this doesn't seem to work properly with the consequence that the middle part of the button gets distorted.
I'm curious if this artifact would move to the other (Cancel) button or disappear if you would use the Tab key or cursor key to set focus to the Cancel button or if it is a problem with the label text that isn't default (OK or similar).

Encore won't save project with new filename

I have just rendered a bluray disc image of a project. Now I want to save a version of the project to tweak it specifically for the DVD image, and preserve the bluray project. On the first failed saved I learned in this forum to run Encore as an administrator. Did that, but now Encore just crashes after copying most of the project files. There's enough room on the volume, as I've already corrected after that failed save.
It is a lenghty but not particularly complexly authored project consisting of a 1 hr 26 mins video timeline from a PrPro timeline exported via Adobe Bridge; a short picture gallery rendered in PrPro as an m2v video file; 2 motion and 2 still menus; and English and Japanese subtitles for the long video timeline. As the project developed I had saved progressive versions with unique filenames so I'd have restore points if a file I was working on got corrupted. No problem then.
But now in the final stages of the project I can no longer make an incremental save, Any ideas?

I have been deleting the older projects and their caches to retain disc capacity. But if the current project previews w/o problem and can output a disc image, it must have all it needs as a complete project file, right?

Dynamic xfa form - digital signature becomes invalid

I have question regarding dynamic xfa forms and hope, that you can help me.
I filled a pdf form based on a dynamic xfa form (with extended rights for Reader user) using iText. When the content of the PDF is changed, the digital signature becomes unvalid, so that the rights are no longer vaild.
Therefore Adobe Reader (9.0) does not save the PDF. I get the following error message:
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
I tried the following workaround with itext:
PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, new FileOutputStream(RESULT), '\0', true);

but I doesn't seem to work.
As a result, the rights are valid but the content of the PDF wasn't changed.

Sounds like you tried to fill in a form using Acrobat without the form feature use. Actually iText from what I can see is not using Acrobat, but a third party product. To fill in the form, you simply use the hand tool to move over a form field where the tool will change to an Ibeam or similar pointer tool. Select the field and type in the data. That should not make any changes to the PDF in the sense that has been stated. I have no clue where iText comes into the picture.

PDF form with one submit button that prints form and sanves PDF with data with a unique file name

We have a long medical form that patients can fill out at kiosks as they wait to see a doctor. We want one button so that the patient can print out the form with one click (and finish filling it out by hand if it's not finished already) and the same button click will save the form with a unique file name (using last name, first name, date, and/or email address so that the identity of the person who filled out the form will be readily apparent to anyone who wants to grab the user's responses later). Is Acrobat capable of doing something like this? LiveCycle Designer maybe? And if we continue with the PDF form and add a submit button, is there a way to program the button click to print and to save?

I am not sure about the print, but it can probably be done -- possibly with a bit of JavaScript. As to the saving of the form, that is not reasonable at a kiosk. You would want the data submitted to a server (particularly with patient data), no e-mail or accessible drive. You can collect the data and put it in a database or import it to the form for printing yourself.

How to save a completed form that was created as a dynamic form, with expandable files?

I have created a dynamic PDF form with expandable fields etc. As this is to be accessible for customers to completed, how can they save a completed copy on their own PC?
I tried it myself and I receive an error msg stating that I can only save a Blank Copy of this Form: Data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form.
How can I create a dynamic form (with expandable fields/flowable layout etc) that allows the applicant to not only complete the form but also, to save a completed copy?

While the form works in Internet Explorer (I'm using IE11), in that it's viewable, it opens and allows me to save etc) it doesn't work in Google Chrome and I'm getting the below error message:
Any ideas on why it doesn't display in Chrome and does in IE (I'm using the same PC and I'm using Adobe Reader XI)!
there are other PDF forms on site that are not dynamic but are fillable, and these are opening!

Save File with Field data plus append more information

I am looking to create a button that will save a button and append the data from a field to it when I save it. So it would be a click event in javascript and inside the "saveFile" information would append TextField1 and "some text I make up" which would create the saved file name.

But I would achieve this using the trusted function
create your form as usual
then create an extra subform and make it in to a save as box (just add a textfield and some text and a button)
have the save button on the form simply call the saveas subform
saveas.presence = "visible";
then the button on the saveas subform have the following code (under click event in javascript)

to get this function to work you need to create a .js file using notepad with the following code

Obvisously setting the targets correctly and the save directory
then save this file as any name you like .js e.g. (saveas.js) then place this file in the c:\program files\adobe\acrobat\javascripts, or similar but with reader if using adobe reader.
If you intend to use this file in reader then you will need to enable extended features in reader on the file using Adobe Acrobat.
OK the above is only availble where you have the ability to load the .js file in to the correct directory.
I used it by creating a simple installation file which placed the .js file in teh correct directory and the form ont eh end users computer.
It may or may not work for you.

Can't export a PDF with XFA form

XFA forms are not regular PDF's but XML files in a PDF shell.
To create a word file from those files, you first have to flatten the XFA forms by printing as PDF with the Adobe PDF Printer.
Then you can save using ExportPDF the created static PDF as Word document.

You can save the form with name generated from a field's value, but therefore you will have to install a folder level script first and design a custom save button in your form.
You cannot do this with the applications save or save as... buttons, and you also cannot rename a file on submit.
