XLIFF TRANSLATION

Hello,
I have a question for anyone whom has gotten the XLIFF tranlation working. Per Oracle, they are stating that we need to install language packs for each language we want to use in translation.
I was confused as to why, because XLIFF is just using a translation file to grab the translated XML Labels. It does not make sense to me why we need to install the language packs, and then have to maintain and patch these.
But they insist, in order to select a different language to translate, you need to install these language packs.
If anyone can comment on this I would appreciate it.
Ira Kleiner

Tim,
Thanks for getting back, finally, I have opened several tars and many postings with little feedback.
Understood on the data, we are only looking to translate the labels.
You state;
If you have the single step reporting functionality ie CM 11.5.10 then your users can pick another template language at runtime by opening the Options popup on the submission form.
When I go to the options and select Template Language, I get
frm-41830, list of values contains no entries.
I do notice if I go to the Language settings, i can change the Territory, and that will effect the Template Language, but I will end up with a say en_JP for Japan, and have to use the 2 step process to extrpolate the correct template.
How does one get the LOV populated for the Template Language?
I have struggled with this for many weeks now, and I think that the next XMLP Users Guide needs some updating on this subject.
Thanks
Ira Kleiner

  • Xmlp reports in different languages using XLIFF translation

    We are doing xmlp reports in different languages using XLIFF translation and it is working fine. But for Arabic and Japanese pdf reports printing “????” instead off Arabic and Japanese. Upgraded Adobe Acrobat Reader to 7.0 and down loaded languages support updates but its still not working.
    Are we missing anything?

    Hi,
    I am also facing the same issue. I am also getting "????" instead of Hebrew translation. I am trying to generate PDF file using the XMLP API. It works fine when tried to generate from MS Word using the "Preview Translation" option.
    Please let me know is there any configuration parameters that need to be set.

  • Compile error in hidden module: xliff Translator

    Hi All,
    I'm new here and finished installing the 10.1.3.3 version. Everything is working fine except the Excel Analyzer.
    When I try to open any report with it opens a new excel file with a blank tab named "_remove_me_please" and a window with the message "Compile error in hidden module: Xliff Translator".
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Valente

    The reason this is happening is BI Publisher is pretty much junk. We have been using the same version of the product as you since February 2008 and have experienced endless problems. It is completely embarrassing the IT department. The Excel functionality is the most buggy, but we also have very strong feelings about the Query Builder in the web interface (no numeric aggregation functions!).
    For half the users who try to use the Excel Add-in, the 'BI Publisher' menu never even shows up! We all use the most updated version of MS Office 2003 Pro, and a fully updated .NET Framework 2. Right now, I do have the menu in my Excel, but I can't even get the Analyzer to show my report. I get the same result as you, with the empty sheets, one of which is called 'remove_me_please'. I'm sure the report works because I can view the XML data in the web interface using 'Data' output format.
    There is another error related to this issue, which might shed some light on the situation for the Oracle developers. If you save the fargled file to disk instead of opening it directly, then open Excel and login to BI, then open the file, you get this error:
    'Object variable or With block variable not set'
    This may actually be a problem in .NET, as mentioned in the Microsoft knowledge-base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316478
    In any case, BI Publisher suffers from a terrible lack of diagnostic capability, which wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't so buggy. Have you tried diagnosing problems in your XSLT in your RTF templates? What a freakin' nightmare that is. If you change more than a few form fields and then get an error, you can forget about finding where the error is. That means you must rerun the report after every minute change. Talk about slow development! As much as I like XSLT and XPATH, we completely abandonded showing people how to design reports that way.
    I haven't used the old RDF way of reporting, but I think Oracle should have stuck with that. BI Publisher is what happens when a Microsoft wanna-be like Oracle tries to integrate with a Microsoft product like Office. With all the bugs and patches in Microsoft products, there's no way Oracle could keep up with all the different versions and caveats, to keep their products functioning in that environment.

  • Problem uploading XLIFF translation file

    Hi,
    I am trying to carry out a translation process on an application but am getting an error which is stopping me progressing.
    I have exported the text to a XLIFF file successfully, however when I try to import the translated XLIFF, I get the 'Page
    cannot be displayed' screen in Internet Explorer (with url 'http://ijmstra57.ijmuiden.corusgroup.com:7782/pls/tsuit/wwv_flow.accept').
    Could anybody give me an idea what could be causing this and any way to resolve it please.
    Thanks

    Hi
    what if you validate the file using an off-line XML validation tool like XMLSpy?
    You should try that one first, as a malformed XML file can lead to every kind of weird errors.

  • About XLIFF translation File Very urgent

    Dear all ,
    I am trying to translate the error messages in the APEX using the file XLIFF
    I did the following :
    1-Map your primary language application to a translated application
    2-Seed and export the translation text of your application into a translation file.
    3-Translate text identified in translation file.
    4-Apply your translation file and publish.
    but it didnt display the translation for the messages,so I opened the XLIFF file and i saw all the messages in the application inside the file but it is not translated,
    so i changed it manually from the file itself then i exported the translation file into the application and i publish it ..
    but it didnt make any effect to the application i checked the file itself it is changed there but it doesnt make effect on the application ...
    actually i need to change the file manually from the OS not from the application coz it will not show all the component of the file ..
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    SAP BC and SAP NetWeaver are based on different technologies: SAP BC is based
    on webMethods’ proprietary Integration Server, whereas SAP NetWeaver is based
    on open standards, such as BPEL4WS (business process execution language for
    web services). Therefore, only parts of an SAP BC implementation, such as XSLT
    mappings, can be migrated to a solution based on SAP NetWeaver. Any custom
    programming based on SAP BC, such as SAP BC flow language, is unlikely to be
    reusable in the SAP NetWeaver context.
    The basic steps in the back-end systems are:
    • Defining the logical systems
    • Maintaining the ALE distribution model
    • Maintaining partner profiles and EDI ports
    • Maintaining RFC destinations
    The basic steps in the SAP XI system are:
    • Maintaining the System Landscape Directory
    • Configuring the IDoc adapter
    • Maintaining the receiver determinations, interface determinations, and
    interface agreements
    • Maintaining the communication channels
    The type of scenario to migrate typically has an impact on the communication channels only.
    >>>how to migrate from BC to XI in this kind of scenario. Will i use RFC and File adapters in my XI to configure the same?
    Yes , for RFC communication you need to use the RFC adapter as you know in BC you need to create the connections and you can also test you RFC and BAPI and also you can check what XML string is coming in return. So i guess that XML you can use in XI also. Also you can use file adapter.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Bursting with translation and security attributes?

    Hi folks,
    I've been lurking on the forum for a while and despite not always finding a solution, existing threads normally pointed me in the right direction - so thanks :)
    I'm working on EBS 11.5.10 with the latest Bi-Publisher 5.6.3 (5472959) and bursting (5968876) patches installed.
    I have successfully done the following individual AR Invoice Bi-Publisher tasks:
    1. translated an invoice RTF template by attaching an xliff file to the data definition,
    2. applied security attributes to the template to restrict updates on the resulting PDF,
    3. burst a custom AR invoice print and emailed the resultant pdf's.
    The PDF generated by the combined Invoice print correctly applies the translation and security attributes; however when I run the "XML Publisher Report Bursting Program" to the XML file the resultant burst PDF's do not apply the translation or security attributes. I assume this a limitation of bursting control files? If so, is this on the list of future enhancements to Bi-Publisher?
    Here's an example of my control file document entry, I have included locale and pdf-security entries - these don't cause an error but equally don't generate the desired result (p.s. I know I'm emailing on a PRI filter - it's just a test):
    <xapi:document output-type="pdf" delivery="att_email">
    <xapi:template type="rtf"
    location="/usr/tmp/xxxINVOICE3.rtf"
    locale="fr-US"
    pdf-security="true" pdf-encryption-level="1" pdf-permissions-password="xxxxxx"
    filter=".//G_INVOICE_HEADER[PRINTING_OPTION='PRI']" >
    </xapi:template>
    </xapi:document>
    Thanks
    Dave

    ==Properties Idea's
    =================
    You would have happened to try applying the security stuff in the application for your template? Try that and see if the pdf properties get set.
    If that doesn't work your left with two options:
    1. create a java concurrent program and set the properties manually.
    2. Log a tar.
    =================
    ==local idea's
    =================
    Are you sure you don't have to create template config for the locale? i suspect that's why it's not applying the xliff translation. Also, your NLS_LANG needs to be set to FRENCH for the approriate template to be applied. If your logged-in as english your french format template will not be applied, neither will the translation. As an example you can query vl table and you'll only get american (us) but if you alter your session you'll get the translation for that language when your query the table.
    location="xdo://xxxAR.xxx_XML_PRINT.fr.US"
    try it out and see if that works. Note: This will only work if your session NLS_LANG is set to FRENCH.

  • Problem with XLIFF file

    Hi,
    I exported a XLIFF file and would like to use the following translator: https://open-language-tools.dev.java.net I'm using version 1.1 RC2. Any idea of what is wrong with the file? I never modified it and it's giving me that error message. If you don't know what it is would you be able to suggest any good free/open source XLIFF translation tools? Just need one that I can easily modify the words (since it's a very basic user doing the translation)
    Thanks

    Well... In a way, it was my fault. I have created xliff file and looked at its contents using CodeWright text editor. Using CW's regular expressions and macros, one could process translation fairly easily.
    However, in this file foreign characters are scrambled (=> my post).
    Then, I decided to install and try XLIFF editor. The one recomended by SUN handled all diacritical characters nicely.
    So, as long as I don't try to proceed to direct translation of the xlf file, but through XLIFFF editor, I don't have to worry about french and german accents. At least, I hope so (I still have to import the german translation to be sure).

  • Application language don't translate templates ?

    Hi,
    I use APEX 4.0, Oracle 10g, Windows XP Pro SP3.
    We need 2 languages for our application (fr and en).
    I do the following :
    - Download translatable text to translation file (XLIFF FILE)
    - Modify it
    - Apply XLIFF translation file
    - Publish Translated Application
    I use the session by setting &P_LANG=fr or &P_LANG=en to switch language.
    It works, text is translated, but my pages looks different, as if some CSS was missing.
    The problem is that I modified some templates, for example, in the NoLabel item template, I changed :
    <span class="t6NoLabel">bla bla</span>to
    <span class="noLabel">bla bla</span>to apply my own CSS 'noLabel'.
    So when I take a look at the source code, I see class="noLabel" in the fr version and class="t6NoLabel" in the en version ! So t6NoLabel is not found and the page is not displayed correctly.
    I tried to set the template as "Translatable" (checkbox) but it seems it don't change anything...
    Have you got an idea ?
    Thanks.
    Yann.

    OK it works.
    I'm sorry, I forgot the "Seed translatable text to translation repository" step in APEX 4.0.
    I think it was made automatically in APEX 3.2 because I don't remember having already done it.
    Thank you and sorry again.
    Yann.

  • How to get XLIFF from FOProcessor API?

    I have RTF templates that need to be translated into multiple languages. When I test the XLIFF files from Word using Translate Template -> Preview, the translated strings are put into the document. The XLIFF translations also work on forms installed on a BIP Server. However, I can't get the XLIFF files to work when using the FOProcessor API. I using the call.
    My code looks like this:
    FOProcessor processor = new FOProcessor();
    processor.setTemplate(template);
    processor.setData(dataFile);
    processor.setOutput(outFile);
    processor.setOutputFormat(outputFormat);
    processor.setLocale(locale);
    processor.setXLIFF(xliff);
    The call to setXLIFF does nothing.
    Any suggestions? I'm using 10.1.3.4.

    We came up with a workaround - create separate RTFs per language and then write code to find the correct RTF by Locale. The problem is that any global changes to the template will need to be made to each language template. Plus, we are supporting many languages, so there is a lot of manual effort plus the issue of maintaining multiple copies of the same template.
    Has anyone gotten FOProcessor.setXLIFF to work? Or even tried?

  • Globalization Language translation

    Hi,
    I have a Client requirement like the they have a primary application in English Language and they want the application to be available for the Users based on the selected language by user. The primary application is in English language.
    I could not understand  these API's APEX_LANG.LANG and APEX_LANG.MESSAGE mentioned in the oracle documentation. So please suggest me a right way how to work on these API's if possible with examples to create a translated application.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Das.
    In Apex Automatic Traslation is not Possiable . We Need to Translate Word by word or you can dump application into a single file so than you can change the whole application at a time. But this will take some time depends on your size of application.
    To Download application at a time
    Go to Shared Components/Globlization/Translate Application/Download XLIFF Translation file from transalation Repository then  download all the application totally and convert the whole application at a time then seed the application and publish Application.
    You can follow the following links which may help you

  • XLIFF Localization Automation?

    Hi everybody,
    We have quite a big project in NW2004s, better part of it is a web dynpro application and we need it in two languages.
    Every i18n documentation you can find describes the situation where you have final application in one language and you create additional language version by manually copying the xliff (*.xlf) files. So far so good - the real problems start when you want to change that already translated application.
    Is there ANY way how to compare the xlf files to find missing or changed translation? I did not find any mention of that situation in the documentation, I did not find anything similar inside the NWDS menus and I even failed to find any eclipse plugin supporting xliff
    If you add some visible WD element into an (already translated) application, the only method I see currently is to remember what you have changed and correct it - i.e. do it fully manually. I can't believe this is the only way SAP offers ... or is it so?
    Do you have any advice?
    Regards,
    Tomas

    Hi,
    Two things I can think of:
      1. one free tool that should let you open both xliff files:       OLT XLIFF Translation Editor 1.2.6
    https://open-language-tools.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentView?documentID=40324&showInfo=true
    Try this tool and see if this would help you have a better view to compare the xliff files and facilitate the files.
      2. Or use a Translation Memory software: this will enable to identify the modified or non translated segments by creating a Translation Memory from your original translated xliff.

  • Problem translating region template (fr = de)

    The template has form of
    <tr>
         <td style="font-weight:bold">Immeuble </td><td>#NUM_NOM_IMM#</td>
         <td style="font-weight:bold">Responsable immeuble</td><td>#RSP_IMM# </td>
    </tr>
    As long as I don't translate the template, it renders OK.
    However, if I translate the region to German
    (seed,
    export to XLIFF,
    add a <!DOCTYPE xliff PUBLIC "-//XLIFF//DTD XLIFF//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xliff/documents/xliff.dtd"> line in the generated file, otherwise it does not load into the translator
    take away < Previous entry from the file, otherwise it does not load into the translator,
    open with the OLT XLIFF translator,
    save the translated version,
    take away the line added in the beginning, otherwise it hangs while uploading,
    upload and publish),
    the template part of the region disappears when I try to run the application in German (in French it's OK).
    The template allows to show report two columns per row, along with meaningful labels, so I would like to use it.
    Any ideas what I am doing wrong/what goes wrong?

    Works better, but...
    I looked at contents of the translated xlf file and changed it a little.
    The source :
    <tr>
         <td style="font-weight:bold">Immeuble </td><td>#NUM_NOM_IMM#</td>
         <td style="font-weight:bold">Responsable immeuble</td><td>#RSP_IMM# </td>
    </tr>
    became after translation :
    <bpt id="1"><tr></bpt>
         <bpt id="2"><td style="font-weight:bold"></bpt>Liegenschaft <ept id="1"></td></ept><bpt id="3"><td></bpt>#NUM_NOM_IMM#<ept id="2"></td></ept>
         <bpt id="4"><td style="font-weight:bold"></bpt>Bewirtschafter<ept id="3"></td></ept><bpt id="5"><td></bpt>#RSP_IMM# <ept id="4"></td></ept>
    <ept id="5"></tr></ept>
    Thinking that myabe it was bpt/ ept that was causing problems, I have simply copied source part of the template into the target part and replaced french words by german ones.
    I have imported the manually edited file into APEX, and have seen some improvement in german version: labels/values appeared, but the formatting was wrong:
    http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3121/imagedenotemplatevo0.jpg
    Then, I changed the User interface Template option of the region from "No template" to "Borderless region" variation (with no title), and it almost worked. Kind of:
    http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/5199/imagedeborderlessregionff9.jpg
    I still have not managed to make german output look like the original, a french one:

  • APEX  Listener

    We are planing to use APEX with APEX listener in production site for better security .
    Under this circumstances, do we still need to install XMLDB .
    If it is, could you please let me know what functionality of XMLDB is required when we are not in EPG mode.

    Hi there,
    If you do not have XDB installed, then the APEX component will be invalid. Essentially, it is an unsupported installation. If you ever need to call Oracle Support, the first thing they'll ask you to do is make the component valid (by installing XDB).
    XDB is used in a number of places in APEX - as an XMLTYPE in collections, parsing of Web Service results, XML data loading and unloading, XLIFF translation file parsing, probably a few more areas that I'm not recalling now.
    I hope this helps.
